Malloc failed on server CreateMultipleFields

2009-01-05 Thread bruce sisk
I am receiving this error when trying to migrate an existing form with several
new fields.

This is a brand new installation of ars 7.1.0 patch 5 with itsm 7.0.3 patch 8.

It is a windows 2003 server connecting to a remote Oracle 10.2.0.3.0 - 64bi
configured in a RAC.

If I try to manually copy and paste multiple fields to the form via the admin
tool...I get an Unable to save form box. If I click OK...and resave...I will
get the Unable to Save box for each new field being added...then it will save
normally.

I have never encountered this before...anybody else seen this?? Any ideas??

Have you tried restarting the AR Server? If not, doing that would be a
start. I have seen this happen on AR System 7.0.1 whenever the remote Oracle
DB is unreachable for a little while but later reconnects and it is not
possible to make changes to an Server Object via the admin tool or import
any object via the Migrator or the Admin Tool.

What Database are you using??

With Oracle you can run an SQL statement to move the table from one
tablespace to another. Other databases should have similar abilities.

ALTER TABLE tablename MOVE TABLESPACE new_tablespace;

Ask your DBA to relocate the archive tables in ARSYSTEM tablespace.
You would need to provide him with all the Txx, Hxx (and potentially Bxx)
tables.

After the relocation (or in Oracle terms, a move), the views related to these
tables will probably need to be recompiled, as the move would invalidate them.
This is also a DBA task

2009-01-05 Thread Remedy Maniac

Many thanks to you and Joe for your inputs.

My problem was the following:
- people would like to make a insensitive search in some fields. Not all
the fields.
- the Sybase server is case sensitive. And I am not allowed to change
this because I share the development server with other people/applications.

And I'd like to keep some consistency between my dev and my prod.

So I thought I could use this set field to build something.

Eventually I ended up building a Guide which runs direct SQL.
And now I get what I wanted.

The only thing is that it is quiet curious this Display a List. Since
you can't do anything with it, what is its use then?

Re: how to open a window on a set field action with multiple request match

2009-01-05 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
The "Display a List" displays the fields specified in the SQL

i.e. You can do the SQL like...
  Select Field1, Field2, Field3
  From SomeTable
  Where Field5 = 'x' and Upper(Field6) like Upper('ABC%')

The Display will show Fields 1, 2, and 3 while you are selecting against
fields 5 and 6

Depending on how many fields need to be case insensitive you could have
those fields stored as all upper case and do you searches against those
fields.

i.e. If the field is Subject you could create a hidden field called
Subject_Upper and have a filter populate it on save. Workflow would
search against it instead of the actual Subject field.

We have a development server same as the ARS 7.001 server config.

(A) How do we go about migrating HD 5.0 application & data to the new

we thought of doing it as follows. Any feedback would be highly appreciated.
1) Setup development environment same as ARS 6.x server config
2) Install Helpdesk 5.0, import data (can we use Remedy Migrator to import
application & data from old server? which Remedy Migrator version?)
3) Upgrade HD 5.x to HD 6
4) Upgrade ARS Engine from 6.x to 7.001
5) Now migrate HD 6 app & data to the new server platform ARS 7.x (can we

(B) Can we use SLM 7.002 with HD 6.x application to define service targets?
Are there any issues?

I believe that the person approving needs an AR license not an itsm based

If a record is being modified you do require a license.

If you get this error at create time of a record it might mean that somehow the
permissions on that field 13191 must be messed up. The user might not have the
required permissions to write to it. Usually this is resolved by allowing any
users to submit to that field (check that check box on the permissions tab of
that field). See if that is your problem..

Subject: SLA's - ITSM 5.5

**
ITSM 5.5
ARS 6.3

I've been asked to create an SLA against Changes in ITSM. I have been
unable to find much documentation on how the SLA module works, but I
have managed to figure out the creation part.

What I don't understand is this. I've set up the SLA so that the Goal
is "Resolution Time" with 16 hours the goal. The Clock is supposed to
start running immediately and stop at Status = Resolved. But when I go
to the join CHG:Change_SLA to look at the results, I can't find an entry
that tells me how long it took to resolve.

As I said, this is a bit new to me, and I'm learning by trial and error.
Am I missing something? Do I need to set up a field on the Change Form
that calculates open time so that it can be reported on? How does the
SLA rule know when something has passed.

This is the SLA module that comes with the ITSM suite. Not the add on.

Thanks for any help you might be able to offer!

Re: ADV:XtremeAir (NEW INTERFACE)

2009-01-05 Thread Robert Molenda
Hi Gidd;

**Finally** got the chance to try this out today - needless to say - I am
impressed as usual :)

Reason for the delay was the holidays and forcing me to take time off - but
now that it is finally 'aught-nine' (yikes) figured I'd kick the tires!!

Thought a fair test would be to go to my local watering hole for lunch and
try it over their wireless connection (xDSL) - and the response time was
completely "unexpectedly AWESOME" - I cannot get Mid-Tier to paint screens
that fast even on my gig-e net at home!

I'll pass this info around to my team @ Infosys for 'future reference'...

>> Question << (as usual)

Do you have (or can you / want me to?) put together a "Side by Side" test
comparison of your 'extremeair' app versus mid-tier? This would include not
only 'user response time' but other interesting statistics such as 'network
usage (consumption)', 'Server [mid tier] consumption (cpu / memory)', etc
(insert bla-bla-bla here)
I know that I am definately interested in these sorts of statistics - and I
am certain that Infosys customer base would be interested in a 'white paper'
on this as well.

Just thinking :)

Thanks for the link(s) and the demo - as usual your products "make us think"
and 'consider options' when customers ask us "how do we do xyz" so to say...

Best regards & happy new year (of your political / religious preference)

Re: Problem in Approving a tickets

2009-01-05 Thread Joe DeSouza
If a record is being modified you do require a license.

If you get this error at create time of a record it might mean that somehow the
permissions on that field 13191 must be messed up. The user might not have the
required permissions to write to it. Usually this is resolved by allowing any
users to submit to that field (check that check box on the permissions tab of
that field). See if that is your problem..

File / Send Mail feature question

2009-01-05 Thread Susan Palmer
Hi Everyone,

Hope you all enjoyed the festivities over the last few weeks.

I have a request to modify the Subject line on the File / Send Mail /
Request / Mail Recipient feature. This option is in the menu items above
the toolbar and is likely embedded in the basic code of the AR system.

I have scoured the documentation, help text, form properties, preferences,
workflow; have logged everything which shows nothing; can find no reference
to this feature!

It won't bother me if I cannot change the Subject line contents, I just want
to know whether I can or not.

Appreciate any help you can provide.

Thanks,
Susan

In my opinion it is embedded in the basic code of the user tool and not a
configurable feature. There is no template as such for that feature found in
the installation directory.

Images not found errors report in Fiddler

2009-01-05 Thread Andrew Fremont
Hi,

We're encountering the weird behavior on the mid tier. The gradient color
does not show on the tab, and table header texts are hardly seen, unless
user moves the mouse over the column header.

We can live without the gradient color, but the table header text missing is
really annoying.

On the Fiddler, these errors report on the web session when the form is
loaded.

MidTier Link to a form in NEW mode instead of SEARCH mode

2009-01-05 Thread Sreenivas, Aravind
Hi,

A URL of the type
https:///ars/forms//
always brings up the form in SEARCH mode.

We want to provide our customers with a URL which will open the form in
NEW mode instead of the default SEARCH mode. Is there any modification
that can be done to the above URL to make the form open in NEW mode?

I know that the form has Entry Point (visible in Home Page) where we can
mention whether it will open in New or Search mode, but what I want is a
URL equivalent which will perform the same function.

Any help is appreciated.
