Re: Problem while integrating Midtier 7.1 with Crystal Report Server XI
Hi Salma, I don't think you're far away. Why did you update the report type form? If you specify the server correctly in your mid-tier report set up then I don't think you need to change this. I would make sure that your reports use the same datasource as the one defined on the crystal server. I don't use the default data source name as I use one BOXI server to serve up reports for several different Remedy servers. I create a system data source for each Remedy server. I use the default port for web reporting (80) so don't need to specify anything other than http://crystalserver in the BOXI report server location. A report (rpt file) is generated in folders beneath the reporting working directory on the crystal report server. Find out if this report is being created when you run your report. If it is have a look at it and make sure that it can be opened and run in crystal. In this situation, I pick the most used part of the trigger. I.e. Well considering that as far as know the naming convention is not explained anywhere in the ITSP or ITSM documentation, I can't see how you can believe that. Remedy allows you up to 80 characters to name workflow items, and it seems that ITSP and ITSM does not use all of these characters. My Active Link workflow has a naming convention as follows 1. Prefix for custom work (CC_) 2. Form abbreviation (NIM:) - New Incident Console 3. Execute on abbreviation (MRC - Menu Row Choice, Btn - Button, WL - Window Loaded). If more than one Execute on is specified, then the abbreviation I use is the most relevant 4. Name of Button, Table, Field etc (E.g. Btn_OpenIncidentTask) 5. Execution Order (-000-) 6. Details of Actions (OpenHelpDesk) Thus, we get CC_NIM:Btn_OpenIncidentTask-000-OpenHelpDesk If an AL or Filter is part of a Guide, then the suffix _GUIDE is applied. Re: ITSM 7.5 and adobe flash
I just happened to be scanning the 7.5 Release Notes and saw where Users must install Adobe Flash Player version 9 or later to see any flashboards that use Adobe Flex technology on a form (SW00302532). The use of Adobe Flex technology (whatever that is) appears to have introduced several pages of new compatibility problems into the use of Flashboards, especially for Mac users of Firefox and Safari. It doesn't look like 7.5.00 Patch 001 addressed too many of these issues, either. ARS 7.5 Installation on Linux and JRE Path
Hi group, So, we're trying to install ARS 7.5 on SUSE Linux 10 and have run into a hitch. I installed Java JDK 1.6 Update 13 (the 32-bit version) and used it to run the installer. The installer starts up just fine until we get to the part where we need to specify the JRE path. I've tried several different possibilities, but I always get the message Invalid JRE path. Unfortunately, there's no more information, so I don't know how it's trying to determine if it's valid, what errors it may have gotten in its testing, etc. Does anyone know what the installer expects or how to determine why it thinks it's invalid? The JDK is installed into /opt/java/jdk1.6.0_13. I've tried specifying the following: * /opt/java * /opt/java/jdk1.6.0_13 * /opt/java/jdk1.6.0_13/bin * /opt/java/jdk1.6.0_13/bin/java I then took a look at the installer script and noticed that it had jre/bin/java hardcoded in it, so I tried creating a symlink named jre to the jdk1.6.0_13 directory and tried all the same options above but with jre, and still no dice. The thing is, it's valid - if it weren't, the installer wouldn't have been able to run in the first place! Ideas? Re: Web Services Error
Sharon, While not exactly the same issue, I recently had to set up ARS (7.1p6) to consume a web service and was having trouble getting the admin tool to recognize the WSDL. Turns out I had to configure the admin tool (and the server) to use a proxy server, because of the xmlns:soap=http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap/; part of the WSDL definition wanting to go out to the internet. In AR Admin Tool set Java VM options (allows creation of the filter): -Dhttp.proxySet=true -Dhttp.proxyHost=proxyservername -Dhttp.proxyPort=proxyport On AR Server config, set Java VM Options User tool: Server Information - Connection Settings - Proxy Server Settings for Java VM AR.CONF line: ARF-Java-VM-Options: -Dhttp.proxySet=true -Dhttp.proxyHost=proxyservername -Dhttp.proxyPort=proxyport Perhaps Altiris has a similar configuration issue? 75 Install and Database Administrator username/password
Hi again all, My experience with past installers was that if you were creating a new schema (for Oracle at least) from within the installer, it would prompt your for the database administrator username and password, but if you already had a schema, it would instead ask you if you want to overwrite, upgrade or share the database. For 7.5, our DBA has created a new schema for us to install into, and in the 7.5 installer, I have entered the server, port and schema login information and then moved forward. A couple screens later, it then asks me for the database administrator username and password. Does the 7.5 installer _always_ ask for this, or does this mean that it may not be able to connect to the database using the information previously provided, causing it to think that we're creating a fresh new schema? Note that one thing we did not do was create a tnsnames entry for the database, as we are using LDAP. We did, however, create a DNS alias in /etc/hosts that cause our database name to resolve to the first host in our RAC. Is a TNSNAMES entry absolutely essential? Let me know if you need any further information. Thanks, Lyle NOTICE: This email message is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain confidential and privileged information. It sounds like the User and password being passed is not being validated correctly. In the Altiris component that connects to the the WSDL did you define the Authentication Value correctly? Sounds like you need the Language Pack on the workstation running the User Tool. We were using Oracle and found this to be true. Also, exporting and importing Japanese data, whi, le using the import tool, also needs the Japanese Language pack. Re: 75 Install and Database Administrator username/password
Hi, If you can tnsping your instance you may be in good shape. Since ARAdmin has been (historically) the only dbo for ARSystem, I'd consider using different db user name for the 7.5. When you dba created a new schema did he/she changed the ownership to ARAdmin? I'd totally let the installer create schema and user, and then, if your dba is not happy, he/she can make changes. Re: Web Services Error
Oh. The web service is down it sounds. Flush the cache on your Mid Tier web server and restart whatever runs java on your Remedy Mid tier server (we use Apache). Once you do that then you should be able to view the webservice from the Admin tool. Does that also solve the new issue you are getting? Re: japanese characters and showing
We are running 7.0.01 patch 003. We were having similar issues a little over a year ago and settled on this patch. I don't recall if we saw the issues on the inbound e-mail, but definitely on the outbound. Eventually, I did a side-by-side comparison of our Dev server (where we weren't having the issues) and our Prod server. There were a bunch of language related DLLs on Dev that weren't on Prod. Note: They were documented as not having anything to do with the issues we were having, but I was getting desperate so copied them all over to Prod. I don't have an exact list of them at my fingertips, but will post them here if/when I find them. Our problems did go away - can't guarantee that it was from this action. Hope something here helps... Re: 75 Install and Database Administrator username/password
I took a look at the installation log files, and it looks like it's actually not able to connect to the database to start with, so it probably thinks it needs to create a new schema, and that's why it's asking for the db administrator username/password. This is what I'm seeing in the log file: ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor The Connection descriptor used by the client was A036:1601:A036 I can tnsping A036 fine. I've also created a tnsnames.ora file for it, just in case it doesn't like ldap, but based on what I see here, it kind of looks like it's not even trying to actually look up the service in ldap or tnsnames. It looks like it's just going straight to the server and port and passing it this connect string, or something like that. The connect string appears to be in this format: server:port:db instance Any ideas? Thanks, Lyle From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:arsl...@arslist.org] On Behalf Of Nicky Madjarov Sent: Friday, March 27, 2009 12:20 PM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: 75 Install and Database Administrator username/password ** Hi, If you can tnsping your instance you may be in good shape. SLM Question
Hi All I have a question on SLM. On our system we have two companies, the SLA is currently only implemented for one company. Ok the question In about 5% of the Incidents the SLM Status field is not getting updated properly. The SLM Status field shows No Service Target Assigned, even though the table above the Service Targets table shows, the targets being met or missed or whatever correctly. The SLM Module seems to be working properly, the appropriate notifications are being sent out properly, but the SLM Status field is not getting updated properly. Anyone have any ideas why this should be happening. Also in some instances when the ticket is assigned from one company to another and back again, sometimes the SLM Status field shows No Service Target Assigned, although there should be. It looks like, say that the SLA is defined for company A and not company B. when a ticket is assigned to company A, the SLA gets attached, when it is re-assigned to company B it gets detached, but if the ticket is then re-assigned back to company A, the SLA does not get attached properly. Any ideas or suggestions would as always be most welcome. Many thanks in advance. Hi Go to Form/Form Properties/Audit and click enable. also select the type of Audit you want in the field Audit Style. in the form name enter a form name, if it is a form audit then enter the name in the Audit Form name, if it is Log style audit then enter the form name in the Log Form field. if the form does not exist, a new form with that name will be created. You can specify a qualification if you want for the Audit to happen.
