ARReport to Printer not working on Mid-Tier

2009-04-21 Thread funkd
Hi all,
We have workflow to generate an arreport and run it to printer.
This works fine on the User tool, but on the Mid-tier a new window appears
and loads the homepage again.
Has anyone encountered this before and is ther a fix?

Hi All,

As someone has probably noticed, BMC updated its website over the
weekend. The new format will hopefully be easier to navigate.

However, because of the change, URLs that you have in your bookmarks
may no longer work. Here are some of the most common places that I
visit - so if you want to update your bookmarks, you can start with these:

Evidently you can either simple bind to AD or use SSL. There is no
negotiate option.

I find it interesting, from what I read, that Microsoft excludes their
own products from this security requirement.

Re: Workflow on the Web (UNCLASSIFIED)

2009-04-21 Thread Decou, Candace M
Michael - does the user you are logging in with have a specific
application that can read the CTM:People form? E.g., Change Submitter
Read or Incident Submitter Read or something like that? We also have a
custom application that we use and the query against the CTM:People form
will not work unless we specifically assign one of the OOB application
licenses with at least a Read license to use against it. Of couse, I'm
not sure why the behavior would differ in the WUT, but if you haven't
tried this it's worth a test run.

- Yes, I manually flushed the cache before each test.
- As for the view, I'm using the default Mid-Tier rendered views,
which should work exactly the same as on the client. I'm not generating
any web-specific views.
- When I run the MT workflow logs, the relevant section looks like this:

ActiveLink: SIR:Btn-Find User
True actions:
 action 0
FieldList.Query([object Object], @, CTM:People, 4, 2)
  Set-fields 536870917 =

  Set-fields 536870962 =
  Set-fields 536870963 =
  Set-fields 536870964 =
 action 1

This was from a test where I entered my own name for the search. This
shows a no records match result, which sets the target fields to NULL.
If I modify the A/L search to return an error if there are no matches, I
get the error. (Of course, the same code on the client works, and
returns all my user info.)

I have also checked permissions on CTM:People (the web connection is
done with the anonymous account), and all are set to Public. I'm
thinking it has something to do with the fact that I'm using the WebUser
account on the web, rather than a specific user login.

Yeah, I was afraid it would come down to that. Problem with that is that you
need Administrator permissions to query that form, if you want to do it from an

In this particular case, I'm looking at building a list of
server.application_name for the AppSubset field for the Home Page form. In
that case, I would want to be able to use the server alias rather than the
specific server name, because it needs to work for the Mid Tier. However,
there are other times when you might want it as well, for example, if you want
to dynamically build a URL for the Mid Tier, say for custom notifications, you
would again want the alias rather than the server name.

Thanks,
Lyle

2009-04-21 Thread Savant, don...@dts
We went live with 2.2 a month ago. The current deployment covers roughly 70
internal and external non-billable IT service types with the most popular
obviously being 'Report an Incident'. Future plans include adding billable IT
services for our external customers.

if it's not widely used enough for BMC to keep it around.

If it helps in your decision, SRM is seen as an extremely critical component in
the BSM strategy for BMC. I know of no currently discussed scenario where SRM

Thanks,

Hi all,

I'm wondering if there is an easy way to determine the name of the server group
in workflow, primarily active links. I know about the $SERVER$ keyword, but
that returns the name of the current server. Is there something similar that
will return the name of the server group or the server alias?

Look in form Data Visualization Module in the user tool and see if you have

The other problem could have been that from did not get upgraded properly

password is an optional database level password - if there is no

table name is the name of the table containing the SHOP_PFCNTR field in

ITSM 7 Automatic Task Creation (TMS)

2009-04-21 Thread Jon Chau
Hello Listers,

I'm currently working on trying to get tasks (TMS) automatically created
within a Change Request (CRQ) using ITSM 7's Change Management / Task
Management integration and was wondering if anyone had any tips or pointers
regarding this.

I've read the ITSM 7 Architecture guide and the Task Management Admin guide
and there's a notion about using Task Template Groups to fire off a set of
Task Templates, but that appears to be a manual process? I also read
something about the CAI (command automation interface) but couldn't find
much about it.

It doesn't look like the predefined task templates work like they used to in
previous ITSM 5 versions where a field would trigger a set of filters to
push into CHG:Task. I'm about to create some filters against the template
form that perform this action. We also have the CHG:Change form
automatically pushed via filters, followed by more filters that trigger the
task template creation. I am able to handle the CHG:Change form using
CHG:ChangeInterface_Create.

Thanks in advance,
Jon

Re: ITSM 7 Automatic Task Creation (TMS)

2009-04-21 Thread Charles Baldi
You would be better off understanding the out of box way, rather than create
or own way (IMHO). You attach Task or Task Group templates by specifying
them in a Change Template. You can automate the attachment of a Change
Template by shoving its Instance ID into the Template ID field of
CHG:Infrastructure Change. This works through CHG:ChangeInterface_Create
too.

The Task and Task Group templates let you define data the user selects (or
is set through workflow) that can be passed along the Tasks and use to
enable or bypas those so you can build complicated flows.

You may not need something this complicated but if you try to do your own
thing the OOB workflow is likely to give you headaches.

Regards,
Chuck Baldi

Re: ITSM 7 Automatic Task Creation (TMS)

2009-04-21 Thread Pierson, Shawn
I would take it up one level, actually. Since you appear to be creating
standard types of change requests, why not create a change template, relate
task templates to that change template, and proceed that way? Then you only
have to figure out how to use the change template in your process, and the
tasks are automatically created.

Templates, but that appears to be a manual process? I also read something
about the CAI (command automation interface) but couldn't find much about it.

It doesn't look like the predefined task templates work like they used to in
previous ITSM 5 versions where a field would trigger a set of filters to push
into CHG:Task. I'm about to create some filters against the template form that
perform this action. We also have the CHG:Change form automatically pushed via
filters, followed by more filters that trigger the task template creation. I
am able to handle the CHG:Change form using CHG:ChangeInterface_Create.

Thanks in advance,
Jon

Re: ITSM 7 Automatic Task Creation (TMS)

2009-04-21 Thread Lammey, Peter A.
Jon,

You can add tasks to your Change Template that will autogenerate when you
create a Change from that template.
You can select either Task Templates or Task Group templates to be used as part
of that Change Template.

It is also possible to generate a Change via the ChangeInterface_Create form as
well if you have a process that populates that form to create a Change.
If you pass the instance ID GUID for the Change Template in the Template ID
field on that form the Change will be created using the template but workflow
will prevent some details you set in the record in ChangeInterface_Create as
passed by your process from being overwritten from the template but the nice
thing is that if you are referencing a Change Template wtih Task Templates or
Task Group Templates associated to it, the Change will be generated with those
tasks generated as well.

Should work like a charm.

** Hello Listers,

I'm currently working on trying to get tasks (TMS) automatically created within
a Change Request (CRQ) using ITSM 7's Change Management / Task Management
integration and was wondering if anyone had any tips or pointers regarding this.

I've read the ITSM 7 Architecture guide and the Task Management Admin guide and
there's a notion about using Task Template Groups to fire off a set of Task
Templates, but that appears to be a manual process? I also read something
about the CAI (command automation interface) but couldn't find much about it.

into CHG:Task. I'm about to create some filters against the template form that
perform this action. We also have the CHG:Change form automatically pushed via
filters, followed by more filters that trigger the task template creation. I
am able to handle the CHG:Change form using CHG:ChangeInterface_Create.

ITSM 7 - Orphaned Tasks

2009-04-21 Thread Chowdhury, Tauf
Hi all,

I am running ITSM 7 patch 8.

The parallel post about Task Management automation triggered me posting
this issue and if anyone has some ideas, that would be awesome.

Basically, the issue is this:

User is in the process of creating Incident/Change request. They add
tasks either adhoc/template/tsg. They don't save the Incident/Change
request.

Now the Tasks are orphaned! No one can edit them, close them, cancel
them until I go in and forcefully delete them.

Has anyone found a workaround to this? Is it possible to have a filter
that runs when the change/incident isn't submitted that goes and deletes
the task?

Thanks in advance.

Re: ITSM 7 - Orphaned Tasks

2009-04-21 Thread Nicky Madjarov
Hi,

The only place you can check if there are tasks added and the entry is not
saved is in Active link - Window close/Un-display. You may consider adding
normal save flag and play around with the change flag to avoid quering the
tasks every time you close/undisplay an entry.

Mid-tier links in EMail notifications

2009-04-21 Thread Drake,Dave
Hi
We changed some mid-tier settings today so that both of my mid-tier servers
(they're in a group) point to a vip instead of to individual web servers. In
so doing, I deleted the individually listed servers out of the server list.
Everything looks good except for email notifications which still have the
individual server in the URL. For the life of me, can't remember where that's
configured, any pointers?

Thanks!

If that setting is left blank it uses the information in the default web path
field above it. That one's set to the vip setting already. Much appreciated

We bought it and are looking at using it, but it is tedious so I want to
make sure we don’t invest a lot of time and money into it if it’s not widely
used enough for BMC to keep it around.
