Re: Audit Trail data in AST:ComputerSystem

2009-05-08 Thread Ramey, Anne
Well, you have AST:AuditLogSystem, which might help you pull together the
entries you need. Then there is AST:CI Audit Log, which tracks the
notifications. Then there is the AST:CI Unavailability AuditLog, AST:Config
Audity Log, AST:PurchaseOrderAuditLog...Then there is the
CMDB:DefaultAuditLog--which seems to be where the actual audit data is stored.
The question is how to take that data with it's guid and associate it correctly
with the given assets so you pull just the right data.

Oh... It sounds like you need 3 SQLs unioned together then

Try

SELECT field1 FROM tablex WHERE fieldontablex = '$fieldonopenform$'

UNION

SELECT field2 FROM tablex WHERE fieldontablex = '$fieldonopenform$'

UNION

SELECT field3 FROM tablex WHERE fieldontablex = '$fieldonopenform$'

You can combine multiple fields into 1 menu using a SQL menu type.

SELECT DISTINCT(field1 + ' ' + field2 + ' ' + field3) FROM tablex WHERE
fieldontablex = '$fieldonopenform$'

What Database are you using?

For Oracle you use 2 vertical bars

SELECT DISTINCT(field1 || ' ' || field2 || ' ' || field3) FROM tablex
WHERE fieldontablex = '$fieldonopenform$'

Lisa,

You can combine multiple fields into 1 menu using a SQL menu type.

SELECT DISTINCT(field1 + ' ' + field2 + ' ' + field3) FROM tablex WHERE
fieldontablex = '$fieldonopenform$'

do this? (I don't think so).

I have it set up the they can choose from a set of responses like "Work"

Re: Audit Trail data in AST:ComputerSystem

Roger,

Yes, I am importing the data from the AST:ComputerSystem into a totally new
customized Remedy form. And I want to include the Audit Trail. So where do I
find it?

I don't see it on the BMC:BMC_ComputerSystem_ form. Please tell me about this
"audit form that holds all of the details."

Re: Import utilities for importing bulk images

I assume you are referring to 7.5's new image feature.

If so then:

1) The only utility I have seen so far is the Image Extractor (jar or
bat) file for extracting existing images to a centralized location.
2) The only thing that looks promising is the new metadata form for
image fields...

But, short answer - I don't see anything yet.

Maybe someone else as seen something?

Re: ITSM 7.5.1 install failure

2009-05-08 Thread Elry
Hey Seth

You bet there are some problems with the Patch 1 installer - as well
as the 7.50 installer on windows.

We have had to use a number of un-installer and registry cleaner
applications to get the install right.

Check your Add/Remove programs to see what's there.

We have seen problems when installing and trying to install subsequent
components - especially with
patch1.

I suspect patch 2 will come out as an emergency fix for patch 1.;)

Re: Webservices

2009-05-08 Thread LJ Longwing
making changes isn't a problem...the issue come in with the fact that I
would ideally have one filter with a loaded wsdl, and have some method
available to tell that filter where to go (data driven). Due to their
implementation I need to have a copy of the filter for each
environment...which means I'm not properly testing my Prod code in Test
because I'm not using the exact same filter...so if the mappings got screwed
up on one but not the other...I wouldn't know till I hit that environment.
Just FYI...I generally prefer to make changes directly at the def level in
an XML def because you don't need to worry about string length in there...:)

Re: 3 Fields into one Selection Field

2009-05-08 Thread Suresh Shanmugadas
Step 1: Create a Custom Fom with Fields to have the person's id and create a
phone # field say LIst_phoneval. Using workflow do three Push field actions
to populate the LIst_phoneval field with the Work Phone, Home Phone and Cell
Phone values.
Create a menu using this form and attach to the Call First, Call Second,
Call Third also use the person's id as the qualificatio for the menu.

IT is a long process, there might be a shorter route to acheive this but it
is simple and it works.

Re: Audit Trail data in AST:ComputerSystem

2009-05-08 Thread Roger Justice
You are looking at 2 different things. The Audit trail is controlled through
the Base Element form and there is an audit form that holds all of the details.
The importing of Assets must be done through either the AST join or the BMC
join such as Computer system. The data is stored in the BMC:ComputerSystem
regular form and the Base Element form and the instance ID is the same on both.

Re: 3 Fields into one Selection Field

2009-05-08 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
I forget where it is in the manuals but you can reference fields on the
form as part of the qualification of a menu. You do it by using the
Field ID in $s in the Menu Qualification.

i.e. Form A has 2 fields (Class1 and Class2). Form B holds menu data
for the fields in Form A (in Class1Menu and Class2Menu fields). The
Class2 field menu data is dependent on the data in Class1. The menu
qualification for the menu on Class2 is: ( 'Status' = "Active") AND (
'Class1Menu' = $536870996$)

Where 536870996 is the field id of the Class1 field on Form A

This probably isn't quite what you're looking for, but we simply modified the
Home Page to include a View field in the blank space and we have a form that
contains HTML text that we throw in there when the form opens. So, while it
doesn't have the immediacy of a pop-up, you do get it in front of everyone that
logs in and goes to the home page.

want to tell my users about new functionality or a documentation update but I

Re: Webservices

2009-05-08 Thread Lyle Taylor
In our experience with 7.0 and 7.1, the web services were not good at or
capable of returning a large number of records. We found that we had to limit
things to around 100 records max or performance just tanked, and it put a very
heavy burden on the web server. As a result of that, we pretty much just
limited our use to single record updates and queries. The last time we looked
at that was a year to a year and a half ago, so I don't know if that was ever
fixed in 7.0/7.1 implementation.

It looks like they may have picked up a new architecture in 7.5, but I haven't
tried testing it yet.

Re: Webservices

2009-05-08 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
Lucky for me I can use a simple Filter Run-If of $SERVER$ LIKE "dev%" (
or "tst%" or "prd%"), but you are correct that it would be great to be
able to override the target URI.

One problem I keep running across is the unique key for sub forms. i.e.
Using the Purchase Order example, we have no line item number in the
data that is coming in to Remedy since all we do is a create into Remedy
of the data. Requiring a unique key is a pain to have to have a dummy
optional field and filters to null it out on submit, modify and merge.

Another problem is that I can't use a sub-form more than once. i.e. In
telecommunications we have to know (among other things) who at the site
is the contact person as well as who is the technician being dispatched.
We store this type of information in a sub-form with a Contact Type
identifier. In order to send this info thru web services I have had to
make db views for each type and Remedy view forms on them just to be
able to do the mapping.

Does anyone know where this list of changes is stored. I tried following the

Re: Group Assignment in ITSM 7.0.3

2009-05-08 Thread Ramey, Anne
It is the sort order that controls which rule that's going to get used. If two
assignment rules apply, the one with the higher sort order gets applied by
default. That way we can always control what rule gets applied. That's how we
control our exceptions, etc. and always land the ticket where we want (if
they've been categorized correctly).

In my experience this works fine and can simplify your assignment rules.
The only trouble might arise is if you have exceptions to your general
rule.  You may still get the general rule firing instead of your more
specific rule.  Others have commented on this behavior too.

  Hello,

  for example:
Tier 1 = Null  (normal values would be like add, change, or remove)
  Tier 2 = Network
  Tier 3 = Firewall Rule

They've tested this and say its getting them the results they want (their
goal is to save time by not having to configure extra assignment rules).

I've always generalized the way group assignment works as going from the

you had to start at Tier 1 and narrow things down from there.  Since what
they are doing challenges my notion of the way it works (and I'm pressed

Will doing the above break anything?  Have any unintended consequences?

Audit Trail data in AST:ComputerSystem

2009-05-08 Thread Dwayne Martin
Dear List,

On the Asset Management Module/AST:ComputerSystem form there is an "Audit
Trail" button, which, if you click, displays a table of changes made to that
entry.

Does anyone know where this list of changes is stored. I tried following the
workflow, but got lost.

Depends on if you are using the User tool or Mid-Tier. If you are using
User tool look in the config guide for 'Init Form'...this is a hidden form
that the user tool will open at login...you could attach messages to this
form opening if you want.

Is there a way to have a message displayed right after login? Occasionally I
want to tell my users about new functionality or a documentation update but
I don't want to use email. One thought is to have an ACL that displays the
message when the user opens their home page but I would rather have it
displayed before any forms are opened. Any ideas?

As you are aware you need to use the 9i client for ARS 6.3 regardless of the
backend database version and the error indicates that the server cannot find
this. If you have the ARS server and db on the same system (with Oracle-SID:
in ar.conf) you will need to configure ARS as though it was using a remote

Hi Suresh,
You could use the View Forms feature assuming the two underlying databases can be connected. This is usually not too difficult.

The destination server can poll a view form against the source server for new tickets and read the data via the view form. If you're using ITSM then there are the HPD:IncidentInterface_Create (and similar) forms to easily create new incidents. Its also possible to keep the two servers in sync.

Are you just trying to send and receive email?  Firebird is a pop3 email receiver.  You can create an account on the same server where Firebird is pulling the information.  Set up the Email engine for POP3 and set it up to access that new account.  This is the way I am using it and it works great.

user group not mapping to role in deployable application

2009-05-08 Thread Andrey
Hello All,

Does anyone have any troubles with the "mapping group to role" when
user is authenticated in AD?

Having done with logging in to Remedy I see the correct group assigned
to external authentication user. AD user group is equal Remedy group
in Group Form.

Looking through the form of deployable application I do not see the
appointment role to the user, but
in Roles form I have the correct mapping:
Name application - Role name - role id - group

It working on production server, but not on development server...

ARS - 7.00.01

Thank you for any advice!!!
Looking forward for your reply.
