Range of Ports of Portmapper

2010-05-11 Thread Kali Obsum
Hi,

We're going to install Remedy 7.5 with option to use Portmapper. Does
anyone know what range of port numbers the Portmapper chooses from? We
need to know the port numbers for Riverbed implementation.

Thanks!

Re: Range of Ports of Portmapper

2010-05-11 Thread Peter Romain
Why not specify a port during installation but still use port mapper.

This way, you can open this port on your firewalls for external access.

At the same time, any users or other programs inside the firewall won't
need to specify the port when they log on.

Cheers

Peter

Portmapper will just pull the next one off the stack as such so you cant
use that behind a firewall.

You will have to specify a port. You can still run portmapper for all the
local clients e.g. SLM, RE etc

Hi
Mapping a port (port mapping) means Opening a port in a router or firewall
residing in a private network in order to let a party from the outside world
contact a user inside.
If the application is for internal use you can use something like 12500...
mostly for internal i think its not required (I may be wrong)

Re: Range of Ports of Portmapper

2010-05-11 Thread Danny Kellett
Hi,

Not to split hairs but only in that specifi case.

On *NIX systems, there is rpcbind (Also known as portmapper) It provides
a mapping from a service name to the port number it's running on

So in the case of ARS. Your AR Client connects to UDP 111 and asks what
TCP port AR Server (or forkd) is running on, it then replies to the client
and from then on it will communicate on that port.

If you specify that port then you bypass the need to ask the portmapper.
On windows, BMC have thier own deamon.

So in your case, your firewall team wont open a range (Or shouldnt anyway
due to security reasons) they should ask for a specific port number.

Kind regards

This is the correct answer.. RPC is 111
the client normally sends 1 UDP packet prior to any TCP packets...

Remedy 7.1 Admin tool crashes when viewing table properties

2010-05-11 Thread BumOfTheDay
We recently upgraded from 6.3 to 7.1 a few weeks back and
arerelatively happy but an issue has arisen. Afew actually..but
thatsanother issue..

The issue is localize to one table field on a console/display-
onlyform, the others seem to work fine... that we've come across I can
double-click on the table field and view all tabs (ResultsColor,
Database, Related Workflow, etc...) except the 'Table/TreeProperty'
tab..
The 7.1 Admin tool crashes. I can open it fine withthe old 6.3 Admin
tool..And I have another table on that same console that views the
sameschema (different query) and it works fine

Remedy had me export the def of the console and re-import over
itselfbut that didn't work. The table_field tfserver is @. This is a
display-only form but it could happen on a data form so I am very
hesitatnt toexport, delete, and re-import escpecially with some of my
forms holdnggigs of data...

Has anyone had/resolved this issue? Can someone please help?

Problem doing People Search in Assets

2010-05-11 Thread Haines, Ricki
Hello,

Has anyone had a problem doing a search in the People tab in Asset?
When I click on Add there's a drop down to search on People, People
Organization or Support Group. Organization and Group are no problem
but if I choose People it takes over 20 minutes to open the search form.
I was on patch 3 for the User tool until BMC suggested I go to patch 5
which only made it worse - finally ended task after 26 minutes.

Setting a field with COLCOUNT($COLUMN FIELD ID$) in a Set Fields

Would like to set the field with the number of rows in that particular

How can it be done with the help of Direct SQL ?

Your arserver binaries do not match the version that the db was

Ricki,

I'm on ITSM 7.0.3, patch 9 (not sure
if this applies to 7.5) and depending on how the user would open the CTM:People
Search form, they would experience really slow loading (but just several
minutes, not half an hour).  The issue was a table refresh on window
open without enough search criteria filled in, so that it would return
everybody in the people form.  I took the window open trigger off
of CTM:PPS:Search_CallBuildQualificationGuide, and created my own window
open active link that would only do the table refresh (by calling the CTM:PPL_Initiate_Search_BuildQualification
guide) if some of the fields had a value.  The run if I used is:
NOT ((( 'Company' =  $NULL$ )
OR ( 'Company' =  "Regence" )) AND ( 'Organization' =  $NULL$
) AND ( 'Department' =  $NULL$ ) AND ( 'Region' =  $NULL$ ) AND
( 'Site' =  $NULL$ ) AND ( 'Site Group' =  $NULL$ ) AND ( 'First
Name' =  $NULL$ ) AND ( 'Last Name' =  $NULL$ ) AND ( 'Full Name'
=  $NULL$ ) AND ( 'Phone Number' =  $NULL$ ))
(Of course, replace the Company=Regence
bit with your own)

Hopefully that helps.

2010-05-11 Thread Easter, David
Yes. This is a known limitation of how the ITSM installers do their "step
upgrade" - i.e. even though you're moving from one version to another, what's
actually happening internally is that it's doing the upgrade of each smaller
step between the two. The more steps (i.e. versions) between the two, the
longer it will take. There are some other factors involved, but in a nutshell,
yes - it's known.

There is are technologies being introduced with AR System 7.6.03 that will
enable the installers to become more streamlined in the future and to generally
run more efficiently. So it is BMC's expectation that future versions will
upgrade much more expediently.

There is a section in KMS_config.xml that you should be able to comment out

That should be no problem...

I see the following supported versions in the compatibility matrix,
what

would be the corresponding 6.3 name for the app?

BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite (ITSM7)
- 7.6.00
- 7.5.00
- 7.1.00

What was it called before that, and which versions are there?

I can add radio-buttons for the different versions in RRR|Alias, to
prevent mixup.

Re: {Remedy ARS} Re: Mulitple Check boxes on Advance Interface Forms

2010-05-11 Thread Christine
Roger - No training at this company; an ugly reality. Upgrading might
be possible but I just installed SRM 2.2 a few months ago. I haven't
read the SRM 7.6 docs to see if something like this would be much
easier at that point.

I knew I was looking at a ton of Active Links. Thanks for the
suggestion about just putting the fields on the Change form. From the
multiple suggestions here I can tell I have some more thinking to do
about this before jumping in whole hog.

As for your next post of "I assume you would have it open the related
Service Request that could be related to multiple Changes." - My goal
is to have one SR that relates to one Change. Perhaps my lack of
Remedy development understanding is making me think this result is
easier said than done. The work on the Change would be done by one
person, not multiple people. Which is why I am hoping to get by with
one Change.

Thanks,
Christine

Thank you Mahesh. Can you clarify? Are you saying that you have
workflow on the Change form (in my case) that displays a button to
open the SR when the Change creation source is from the AIF? Sorry if
I'm a bit thick-headed here, I want to make certain I understand
correctly.

Last week I found the SYS:FormFieldSelection and was wondering if I
needed to touch this or not.

You may have just saved me a lot of work and a cleaner way to do
this.

Re: {Remedy ARS} Re: COLCOUNT not working

2010-05-11 Thread Raj
Thanks again.

So, as per this query:
SELECT Count(Column FIeld) FROM HPD_Help_Desk WHERE Status = 0

In my case this table has only one column and the rows will keep on
increasing whenever there is a submit to that form.
Don't want to query , just need the number of rows from that table to
be set to the field.
So, my query should look like below: ???
SELECT Count(Case_ID) FROM Table1

Please let me know.

thanks,
Raj

Re: {Remedy ARS} Re: COLCOUNT not working

2010-05-11 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
It depends ... What is your table field's qualification statement? The Where
clause in SQL should be the same (enclosing strings in single quotes of
course). If there is no table field qualification then the statement below is
ok.

I'm not sure why you woulg get the fault errors. However , You could try the
beta arsperl 1.92.
I have een uising it on 7.5 with out any issues.

Subject: ARSPerl Segmentation Fault(coredump) on exit

I'm not sure if it is some strange incompatibility between ARSPerl, Perl, and
other modules, but when I do a Perl app to update a record using ARSPerl it
generates a Segmentation Fault(coredump) as it exits the app.

The strange thing is the record updates correctly, but the Perl program
generates a coredump.

Solaris 10
Oracle version 10.2.0.3.0 on remote server

Has anyone seen this type of problem before?

Re: {Remedy ARS} Re: Mulitple Check boxes on Advance Interface Forms

2010-05-11 Thread Brock, Anne
When an Incident, Work order, or Change is created from an AIF, you can click
on the "Service Request" button and then click on the "more details" button (I
think that's what it's called - lower right hand corner of the Service Request)
to bring up the AIF form. You actually don't need to create extra buttons to do
this.

Of course, if you want to go directly to the AIF form, then a button would be
needed...

You may have just saved me a lot of work and a cleaner way to do
this.

AR System 7.5 and RHEL

2010-05-11 Thread Kaye Bernales
Hi List,

Just want to ask if you know any implementations of AR System 7.5 (with
ITSM and CMDB) running on RHEL 5? RHEL 5 is compatible with AR System
as seen in the matrix but we just want to know if there are already
functional systems running on the same settings. Any known issues?

Thanks!

Re: {Remedy ARS} Re: Mulitple Check boxes on Advance Interface Forms

2010-05-11 Thread Mahesh
True, the AIF can be opened from Incident/Change/Work Order but not Task
which was one of the primary reason we added two custom buttons “View
Service Request” which would open “SRS:Request Details” and “More Details”
for AIF. These two buttons are displayed dynamically i.e., “More Details” is
visible only when the Request is using AIF. Also, I always create two views
for AIFs, one to be displayed for End User and another for Fulfillment group
visible from back-end application.

It would have been nice

1. If we could specify the Advanced Interface Form and the View on the
SRD. This way we could use the same Form for multiple purposes.

2. If there was a flag being passed back to the AIF once the
fulfillment request is successfully generated.

Thanks

I know of a production system running on that configuration with no major
issues.
