Re: parsing from csv
Hi Rezaul, You can use PERFORM-ACTION-SAVE-ATTACHMENT, save it into a directory from where you can write and read it, then you can try running Atrium integration Engine command 'aiexfer' or AR Import command utility 'arimportcmd' command in a Run Process. Check on how to use either of these commands in their documentation , try both options and check which one suits you performance wise. AW: ARS 7.1.0 from NON unicode to unicode - oracle from 9.x to 10.x on new machines
Fons, sorry, but my hack has been proved to work on unix. I've never done this on a windows box with MSSQL. The installer for unix-systems is a simple shell script where one can see what's going on behind the scenes. The installer for windows is more like a black box. Furthermore the database migration from nonUnicode to Unicode is a bit more complicated on MSSQL, because you have to alter all the (var)char and text columns to their respective n-types. Webservice error trapping
Hello Listers, ARS 7.1 Midter 7.1 MS SQL Server 2005 MS Windows 2003 enterprise I have made a web service with Get and GetList for a form. I sent the WSDL to the group that wants to query the form. When they search for a value that returns no records it responds with: ?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8? soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv=http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/; xmlns:xsd=http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema; xmlns:xsi=http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance; soapenv:Header wsse:Security xmlns:wsse=http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-secext-1.0.xsd; xmlns:wsu=http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-utility-1.0.xsd; soapenv:mustUnderstand=1/ /soapenv:Header soapenv:Body soapenv:Fault faultcodesoapenv:Server.userException/faultcode faultstringERROR (302): Entry does not exist in database; /faultstring detail ns1:hostname xmlns:ns1=http://xml.apache.org/axis/;(redacted)/ns1:hostname /detail /soapenv:Fault /soapenv:Body /soapenv:Envelope In the web page it shows as an error message Error retrieving tickets. I think they are using something called iView in a portal web site and displaying the ticket information in a few tables. They have asked me to handle this on the Remedy end and provide a No results. I think that since Error 302 is what the ARSystem generates for API/Webservice calls there isn't much that I can do. Shouldn't they be able to trap this error and display whatever text they want? Or is there something I can add to the WSDL to respond with 0 Records when a query comes up empty? Something in the mapping perhaps? As you can tell I don't speak XML. Re: Webservice error trapping
John, Because of the limited functionality that Remedy has regarding web services I do not believe there is a way to 'handle it' on the Remedy side. We have a similar integration in which the group consuming my web service captures the error messages and displays something different to the end users. They do keep a log of the actual error for troubleshooting purposes. Good luck with this. Re: Webservice error trapping
Roger, I read in the documentation that for Outgoing XML elements . . . If the number of entries in the base form is less than the minOccurs, AR System returns an error. My SWAG on this is if I set the getListValues minOccurs = 0 then a query that returns no records is not less than 0 and should not throw the Error 302. Once I get a chance to try it out I'll pass it on. Thanks, --- John J. I believe both would perform equally. However, taking into consideration that escalations should be used at a minimum, I would prefer the first option, i.e; set fields with escalation and push fields with filter. Also, this would help when the escalation queue is longer. Re: Escalation or Filter
Hi Mark There should be no difference. I would prefer to use the escalation to trigger a filter to do the push, as that allows you to insert validation workflow etc. if needed. However, in both cases all the activity takes place on the escalation thread, so you cannot 'offload' activity to other threads to improve performance. Re: ARS 7.1.0 from NON unicode to unicode - oracle from 9.x to 10.x on new machines
A couple of questions that will determine the complexity of the process: Do you have any localized data currently in the database? Particularly CJK data or any other type of multi-byte or localized data? Have clients connected to your remedy server using a localized version of windows and entered/pasted or otherwise inserted localized data into your db? Have you used any non 7-bit ASCII characters in any of your form or workflow definitions (copied any data from word into the notes or change history of any workflow definitions)? What version of ARServer was initially installed when the system was built? What versions of the Remedy User Tool do/have people used (earliest version)? All of the non-Unicode to Unicode upgrades I've done have been from a 6.x o 7.x Remedy server (6.0.1 to 7.0.1 and 6.3 to 7.5), so I can't speak as to how one should upgrade with the versions you are working with. We are planning to do a major upgrade: we need to have our ARS server in Unicode mode, then we will point app server to a new db machine with Oracle 10, eventually we want to upgrade to ARS 7.5. Currently we are focusing on the non Unicode to Unicode upgrade step, so we are looking for any valuable advise on the topic. At BMC support they keep on saying that a brand new ARS installation in Unicode mode is needed (i.e. no upgrade), and then def+data must be imported at ARS level Has anyone of you ever tried to upgrade ARS 7.1.0 from non Unicode to Unicode mode ‘simply’ changing parameters and environment variables (LANG and LC_ALL) and locale settings on the ARS application server, acting directly on ar.conf and arsystem files, and then doing a stop/restart of ars server? Should a new installation be inevitable, we really want to avoid using migrator or arimport for data migration (too many forms, too many data…), and use oracle export/import instead of whole arschema: has anyone of you ever tried this option? Determining Current Work Week
Hello Listers, I'm a little stumped in trying to determine the best way to go check whether a date/time field falls within the current work week. I thought there would be a week function that return the week number of the calendar year, and I could compare that result with the current date to the specified date. There appears to be no such function. What other options do I have aside from writing and calling a SQL function to check? Re: Determining Current Work Week
You can use the WEEKDAY function to return the weekday of a date/time field (1-7, 1=Sunday). Use it for $TIMESTAMP$ to get current week day. For a quick-n-dirty solution, you could set a date field to: $TIMESTAMP$ - 60 * 60 * 24 * (WEEKDAY($TIMESTAMP$) - 1) This would set the field to the most recent week start date (Sunday), which your target field could be compared to - to see if it's greater than (since). I'd use a date field to force time to 00:00:00. A date/time field would need time delta from midnight stripped (a little fiddling). Re: Escalation or Filter
I agree with everyone else, mainly because of threading issues. But I guess with 7 you can increase the number of escalation threads. Still, if you have a lot of other escalations, then you could potentially tie up your threads. I run 2 threads just in case something does happen to tie up 1. I do have some escalations that take a while. I was using some escalations to kick of exe files on my server to do jobs, but then I just offloaded those to sql server agent job because the remedy escalations were bogging down at night. Just bear in mind that each thread is a single-file line.
