Re: ARERR 314 Field does not exist on Current form

2011-09-28 Thread Narayanan, Radhika
Hi,

Thanks. Yes, I tried changing workspace. Still same error - either ARERR
314 on some machines or ARERR 489 on others.

When I attempt to modify a CMDB attribute from CMDB Class Manager, I get
ARERR 314 again. As a result, the CMDB attribute change fails.

The error occurs when I attempt to modify core fields on regular forms
too. The error occurs both during .def Import or modification from dev
studio.

Thanks

Radhika

Have you tried changing the work space? I am currently working with BMC
on this issue. The work space gets corrupted somehow and you start
getting all sorts of errors when you open workflow and try to save
things. Give it a try, who knows it might even fix it!!

If it is not a system field, you could try something like this:

Export all of the data in that field along with the request id field
to a file as a backup.
Remove the field from the form (after noting all of its properties)
and save the form
Add the field back to the form with the same field-id and properties.
Import the data that was saved.
Test again to see if your patch and/or Sync UI will work.

Just a thought.
Ken.

Hi,

Yes, it does. On 3 machines , with different workspace folders, I get
ARERR 314 Field does not exist on Current form field id.
On 2 machines, on any workspace folder, I get a warning ARWARN 489 At
least one set field failed in a multi-field operation.

However, Patch installation and Sync UI are failing due to error
received while modifying forms.

Hi List,

Can you share your thoughts on troubleshooting this error that occurs on
Developer Studio 7.6.03 ?

Whenever a new field is added or an existing field is modified on a form
(any type of form), I get the below error:
Save failed on form name
Field does not exist on Current form field id - Code: 314

However, the changes are saved successfully in spite of the error. But
patch installation and CMDB Sync UI fail due to this error.

AR Server: 7.6.03
ITSM 7.6.03
OS: Windows 2008
DB: SQL Server 2008 R2

ARAPILOGGING from Developer Studio shows Error 489 - At least one set
field failed in a multi-field operation.
SQL/API Log from AR Server doesn't show any error. API and SQL are
completed successfully.

Thanks

Re: Get attachments from View Forms or direct SQL?

2011-09-28 Thread Ben Chernys
I doubt that you can use any direct SQL to store these fields as an ARS
attachment is a BLOB and has proprietary compression applied.

Meta-Update uses the API so it too would be restricted on reads for external
Image' fields but can be used with a simple pre-step of extracting the
attachments from SQL to the file system. Meta-Update can then rename the
attachments correctly upon insertion into ARS using the API.

Re: Get attachments from View Forms or direct SQL?

2011-09-28 Thread Misi Mladoniczky
Hi,

Almost 100% correct. The attachments are compressed/inflated on the client
side, via the API.

I would suggest doing this via the free RRR|Chive utility that is very
very good at doing Delta Data Migrations between servers of different
types, and applications that look slightly different.

This small config will synchronize your old server to the new server in a
single run. The first will be slow, but the consecutive ones will be
lightning fast (maybe 30 minutes if you have ~ 10,000,000 records in your
system).

source_server   = old
source_user = Demo
source_password =
target_server   = new
target_user = Demo
target_password =
multipleforms   = *
splitsearch = YES
transfertype= SYNCTOTARGET
logfile = AUTO
progressbar = YES

Download and configure the tool at: https://www.rrr.se/cgi/rrrchive/main

Re: Why ITIL is not standardize till now?

2011-09-28 Thread IT (Amanullah Bashir Ahmed)
Hi Elry,

Thanks for your response. I am doing research on it, my research topic is
Towards ITIL Processes Standardization. I want to study the processes of all
companies(e.g. BMC Remedy, HP Openview, IBM Tivoli, and CA inc) which are using
ITIL concepts. For BMC Remedy I have all processes of Incident Management,
Problem Management, Change Management, Service Level Management, and Release
Management. I don't have processes of HP Openview, IBM Tivoli, and CA inc. How
can I get documents of processes? After studying all processes I can write
something on my topic.
Again thanks for your response and waiting for again response.

Thanks Regards

Good Question...

They seem to like to deal only with the academic generalities and
refuse to roll up their sleeves and do the real work.
I was fortunate do my ITIL Masters with one of the original founders
of ITIL. He intimated that their goal was to provide
a blueprint with general guidelines that could be adapted to various
organizations; therefore, to actually get into the
details would deter from their prime directive; ergo, organizations
like Pink Elephant and guidelines like Pink Verify.

Maybe in time as ITIL V3 matures - there will be more conclusive
guidelines.

  Hi,

Why ITIL is not standardize till now?

If we see IEEE, they have their standards but ITIL don't have.

Anybody knows about white paper on ITIL  Standardization. Standards work
best when they describe something in measureable terms that can be
independently tested and verified. Standards define a definite output in
unambiguous language to prevent miscommunications and misunderstandings.

Hi,

I think you are thinking the other way around...

I meant to PUBLISH a WebService from ARSystem, which is not done via
Filters, and then have your external system access that WebService.

Another solution is to have your AR Server store the attachments on its
own hard-drive via a Filter Set-Fields:

* RRR|Log - Performance issues or elusive bugs? Analyze your Remedy logs.

 Misi,

I am struggling to see the WebService part! Interesting consept. There
would be a filter consuming a WebService - and push the attachment into
ARS. I can not get my head around that..

I was origionally thinking of Meta-Update.

Re: Plugin Server issue

2011-09-28 Thread Chowdhury, Tauf
There are 2 types of plugins.. the java plugins and the C Plugins. The
other posters are right in that in your ar.cfg, you need to have the
server name and IP name configured but in a server group environment,
you also need to enter the server name and IP name of each server within
the server group. This was a recommendation by BMC. Here is an example
of what I have in my ar.cfg (names and IP's are fictional).

Server-Connect-Name: Remedy02.domain.com

Server-Name: rmdy-p

Server-Group-Member: T

#Server-Name: Remedy02

IP-Name: Remedy01

IP-Name: Remedy01.domain.com

IP-Name: Remedy02

IP-Name: Remedy02.domain.com

IP-Name: xx.xx.xx.xx2

Hi,

My eyes does not seem to be working at the moment. It is I who is thinking
in the opposite direction...

Meta-Update would probably be a good tool for a one-time load of attachments.

In theory, the WebService CONSUME idea you were working on might work, if
there is a remedy-friendly WebService at the other end.

A third alternative, would be to generate an arx-file that points to your
files, and then import that arx-file, but then you have to understand how
that format works.

It's kind of an odd behavior but when it happened to us, I think on the
mid tier, you have to uncheck the 'perform check' and 'cache

I will try to get specifics for you but that will be a good start.

We just moved upgraded to 7.6.04 SP1. To fullfill business decision we
need deploy the Classic view at Comapny level.

We apply the Classic view from Application Administration Console but it
is not taking affect; we still see only the BPV. However we also tried

I can see entry on SYS:ViewSelectionCompanyRoleMapping form with

Thanks for your response. I am doing research on it, my research topic is
Towards ITIL Processes Standardization. I want to study the processes of
all companies(e.g. BMC Remedy, HP Openview, IBM Tivoli, and CA inc) which
are using ITIL concepts. For BMC Remedy I have all processes of Incident
Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Service Level Management,
and Release Management. I don't have processes of HP Openview, IBM Tivoli,

processes I can write something on my topic.
Again thanks for your response and waiting for again response.

Maybe in time as ITIL V3 matures - there will be more conclusive
guidelines.

Hi,

The AR System Historical License Usage form tracks individual user
sessions. To my experience it may not be totally accurate, but should be
so in most cases. It will create one records per user per session.

It only tracks Fixed/Floating users though.

The user-log is the best way I think.

The full version of our award-winning RRR|License tool will give you
detailed user statistics based on the user-log.

Actually what I've done is

* Create the rules (even from the assignee form place Login ID = specific
user)
* Create a new process just for use the fule
* Map the process to the Change event.

However the CRQ is being assigned to the same old user and not the specific one

I was thinking on looking exactly how this is being fired, but I have no idea
where i can see this.

Anyone has another idea?

But the configurations enforce certain rules; what i need is to set an specific

Is there a way to tell the assignment engine to select a single user?

Subject: Assignment route from SRM

Listers;

Another question; Currently there is a SR that routes a CR to a specific user;
looking for a way to change this assignment but i can't find anything. My
understanding this is associated to the Assignment engine but don't know if its
possible to tell the assignment
engine to direct assign the request to a user, eiter i don't know where to
configure this.

Hope anyone can guide me on this.

Thanks

not being able to moonlight, since as a Remedy Dev you may have to be
required to come in after hours and weekends.

Re: Running ARS in Read-Only mode?

2011-09-28 Thread Joe Martin D'Souza

Vaibhav,

What would be the purpose of running a system that costs almost an arm and a
leg and a half to run it in a read only mode? Just curious..

Wouldn’t just a cheap RDBMS database (like Access) serve the same purpose if
you just want to store relationship data, to just view it using some type of a
frontend??

Even if you want to only report from that instance, it is sufficient to mirror
the database to a reporting server, and install your reporting tools on that
server. Personally I don’t see any other reason why you might want a read only
AR System instance.. If you must have an AR Server instance installed there,
then what John said will work. But it is a huge overkill for reading relational
data.. Its like renting a over size U-Haul van for the purpose of going to the
grocery to buy a dozen X-small chicken eggs..
