Re: ARERR 314 Field does not exist on Current form
Hi, Thanks. Yes, I tried changing workspace. Still same error - either ARERR 314 on some machines or ARERR 489 on others. When I attempt to modify a CMDB attribute from CMDB Class Manager, I get ARERR 314 again. As a result, the CMDB attribute change fails. The error occurs when I attempt to modify core fields on regular forms too. The error occurs both during .def Import or modification from dev studio. Re: Get attachments from View Forms or direct SQL?
I doubt that you can use any direct SQL to store these fields as an ARS attachment is a BLOB and has proprietary compression applied. Meta-Update uses the API so it too would be restricted on reads for external Image' fields but can be used with a simple pre-step of extracting the attachments from SQL to the file system. Meta-Update can then rename the attachments correctly upon insertion into ARS using the API. Cheers Ben Chernys Senior Software Architect Software Tool House Inc. Re: Get attachments from View Forms or direct SQL?
Hi, Almost 100% correct. The attachments are compressed/inflated on the client side, via the API. I would suggest doing this via the free RRR|Chive utility that is very very good at doing Delta Data Migrations between servers of different types, and applications that look slightly different. This small config will synchronize your old server to the new server in a single run. The first will be slow, but the consecutive ones will be lightning fast (maybe 30 minutes if you have ~ 10,000,000 records in your system). source_server = old source_user = Demo source_password = target_server = new target_user = Demo target_password = multipleforms = * splitsearch = YES transfertype= SYNCTOTARGET logfile = AUTO progressbar = YES Download and configure the tool at: https://www.rrr.se/cgi/rrrchive/main Best Regards - Misi, RRR AB, http://rrr.se Attachments are compressed by the server before being sent to the database and the code to decompress them is not available other than via AR API. Hi, I think you are thinking the other way around... I meant to PUBLISH a WebService from ARSystem, which is not done via Filters, and then have your external system access that WebService. Re: Plugin Server issue
There are 2 types of plugins.. the java plugins and the C Plugins. The other posters are right in that in your ar.cfg, you need to have the server name and IP name configured but in a server group environment, you also need to enter the server name and IP name of each server within the server group. This was a recommendation by BMC. Here is an example of what I have in my ar.cfg (names and IP's are fictional). Re: Get attachments from View Forms or direct SQL?
Hi, My eyes does not seem to be working at the moment. It is I who is thinking in the opposite direction... Meta-Update would probably be a good tool for a one-time load of attachments. In theory, the WebService CONSUME idea you were working on might work, if there is a remedy-friendly WebService at the other end. A third alternative, would be to generate an arx-file that points to your files, and then import that arx-file, but then you have to understand how that format works. Hi List, We just moved upgraded to 7.6.04 SP1. To fullfill business decision we need deploy the Classic view at Comapny level. We apply the Classic view from Application Administration Console but it is not taking affect; we still see only the BPV. However we also tried after bouncing Mid-Tier, but no luck after that too. I can see entry on SYS:ViewSelectionCompanyRoleMapping form with Form Name= HPD:Help Desk ClassicView Name = Default User View Role = Classic View User Please advice what else I should check/configure to enable Classic View at Company level. It's kind of an odd behavior but when it happened to us, I think on the mid tier, you have to uncheck the 'perform check' and 'cache persistence' settings and then flush the cache and restart the web server. I will try to get specifics for you but that will be a good start. Hi, The AR System Historical License Usage form tracks individual user sessions. To my experience it may not be totally accurate, but should be so in most cases. It will create one records per user per session. It only tracks Fixed/Floating users though. The user-log is the best way I think. The full version of our award-winning RRR|License tool will give you detailed user statistics based on the user-log. Re: Running ARS in Read-Only mode?
Vaibhav, What would be the purpose of running a system that costs almost an arm and a leg and a half to run it in a read only mode? Just curious.. Wouldn’t just a cheap RDBMS database (like Access) serve the same purpose if you just want to store relationship data, to just view it using some type of a frontend?? Even if you want to only report from that instance, it is sufficient to mirror the database to a reporting server, and install your reporting tools on that server. Personally I don’t see any other reason why you might want a read only AR System instance.. If you must have an AR Server instance installed there, then what John said will work. But it is a huge overkill for reading relational data.. Its like renting a over size U-Haul van for the purpose of going to the grocery to buy a dozen X-small chicken eggs..
