hi list, we are running AR Syste, 7.5 patch 7 on a Solaris 10 box with a Sybase 15. We would like to upgrade at some point to 8. Quiet soon. But by then we still need our 7.5 installation. Yes you can do that with following consideration: 1) Hardware requirement for 8.0 ( Refer 8.0 Installing Guide - Before you install Topic) 2) Compatibility Matrix (OS / Database version-patch etc - refer 8.0 compatibility matrix doc) 3) licensing requirement, you need to purge 7.5 license key and apply it for 8.0 or else you need to buy new license key for 8.0 -Original Message- From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:arslist@ARSLIST.ORG] On Behalf Of Remedy Maniac Sent: Friday, October 19, 2012 1:14 PM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: several instances of AR System on the same box hi list, we are running AR Syste, 7.5 patch 7 on a Solaris 10 box with a Sybase 15. Approval Rule to stop a rejection from closing the process.
When an Ad-Hoc approval is created and 3 aprovers are manually added then one of the approvers rejects the other 2 approvals are closed and the Approval process is finished. Is there a rule that I can set up in my Ad-Hoc process that will stop the other two approvals from being closed? The goal is to allow all three of the approvers a chance to approve or reject. My first try was to create a Completion Rule and set the Run If qalification to $Total Pending$ = 0. The idea being that even if one is rejected the other two are pending and this would send the approval cycle back to the 'Prep Next Approver' stage. Thanks in advance for your input. -- View this message in context: http://ars-action-request-system.1.n7.nabble.com/Approval-Rule-to-stop-a-rejection-from-closing-the-process-tp104239.html Sent from the ARS (Action Request System) mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org attend wwrug12 www.wwrug12.com ARSList: Where the Answers Are
Re: Approval Rule to stop a rejection from closing the process.
Do you have some conditions that must be met? In your example of three approvers, do they all have the same weight? For example, if the I.T. Manager and I.T. Director are added as approvers and either one can approve and have it still go through, but if the Business manager is added and they can override everyone else, it gets sticky. Also, do you have a static number of approvers or could it be any number? Either way, you may have to look at averaging the approves versus rejected items. In any case, you're potentially getting into some very complex requirements since you have to take into consideration each and every possibility. You should be able to do this with a Completion rule and 2 Statistical Override Rules The Completion Rule needs a Run if like (($Total Approved$ + $Total Rejected$) = $Total Signatures$) The Statistical Override Rules (One Approved, One Rejected) will be dependent on if you still want the process rejected from 1 reject or a percentage of Rejects vs. Approvals or All must reject. HI All, Have been around ARS 6.3 for a long time but moving to ITSM 7.6.04 is in some ways like stepping on another planet. Have a requirement to create Incident either via email or web services and plan on using the HPDL:IncidentInterface_Create form. In this situation the person making the request will not be in the People form. OOB if the First Name* and Last Name* or First Name+ and Last Name+ don't match, I get an error. What would be the best way to create the Incident and get around this constraint? Filter with a GoTO?, add something to error filter so it does not first in this situation? Mark, Will the submitter ever become an entry in ctm:people? If not, then you can create a service account or dummy user and hard code the info in your integration. If the user eventually becomes a record in your system and you want to update the previous record, you could parse some field nightly to match the person and update those incident records. You may need to make changes to the Approval Process Definition for the Ad-hoc approval process. View the approval process defined and check the 'If Multiple Approvers' setting. If one must sign, it will cancel out the other approvals. If All must sign then it will keep the other approval records active. Re: EXTERNAL: Updates via Import into Asset
Hi John! That's not it. The leading zeros are still there. I get an error message that the ClassID can't be BMC_PRINTER (or BMC_COMPUTERSYSTEM etc) and it needs to be BMC_ASSETBASE. So I changed it in my .csv file and now I'm able to import my changes. I then just change it back to BMC_PRINTER, etc. Weird. Thanks again! Re: Don't know this person
That's similar to what we do. ~25-30% of our incidents are created with that form via email. I use the OOTB email engine and that form for ticket creation. I handle all the logic of how the tickets are created prior to the email being sent to Remedy. We have a faceless account called remedyemail that is used in the way Tauf mentioned. If a user sends a message and their account is wonked for some reason, the system takes the error response email and creates a different incident ticket for the admins to deal with (fix account or some other remediation). That's the main downside that it doesn't have access to the database and make that determination at the time of ticket creation. In our situation, it's very infrequent. Work Order and Service Request - work info notifications
We have ITSM 7.6.4, with Service Requests creating Work Orders. Users have requested notifications in two circumstances: 1. A Work Order fulfiller puts a question into a Work Info entry to request extra information from the Service Request-er - notify the Service Requester. 2. A Service Request-er adds Work Info entry onto Service Request - notify Work Order fulfiller. It seems like the pieces for this are there (SRS-REQ-NotifyEndUser message, for example), but I'm having problems nailing down the circumstances under which they occur. Re: AIF and Overlays
Hey Tauf, I am creating AIF's for services that have criteria that cannot be met by a standard SRD. BMC now recommends that instead of copying the OOB AL's, Filters, and Guides (which is what BMC recommended be done before overlays were introduced), you should attach your AIF's to the OOB workflow. The issue is that in order to use 'Best Practice Customization Mode' one must first create overlays of all OOB workflow that is to be modified, or change them to Custom forms (which defeats the purpose of overlays and will be a major headache come upgrade/patch time). So at this point I am faced with the daunting task of clicking and modifying each piece of workflow at least once if not twice. And considering there are 179 Active Links, 20 Filters, 20 Active Link Guides, and 2 Filter Guides associated with the form SRS:AdvancedInterface_WithBackendMapping I am looking at an extremely long process to create my first AIF. Once I have the first AIF done then any future ones should be quite easy as I can edit multiple active links and filters all at once. Hope this makes sense. I am going to attempt to create an overlay of the SRM application and will keep everyone updated as to how it goes. My personal (as in don't make any decisions based on this, especially financial) opinion is that since BMC shares have stabilized from the massive freefall of last year and reached a bottom of around $31/share earlier this year, potential buyers may wait to see if BMC's sales stabilize. Again not offering a solution here but you might want to look into the Developer community resources to see if there is a plugin developed and available to achieve what you want to.. There is a lot of interesting stuff there in terms of Dev Studio plugins that may save you time on something like this.. I am not saying there may be one for this particular requirement, but you might be able to resolve other issues you may be having by exploring what's available there in those resources from time to time..
