Re: Do I Still Need (Workflow folders)?

2013-04-19 Thread David Easter
The way I read the white paper it is talking about comparing an unmodified
 reference server not def files.

Correct - but some folks don't have the hardware resources to have a reference
server, staging server and production server.  Importing the original BMC def
files for a selected comparison may be useful.  But having the live reference
server and using Migrator is the recommended method, yes.

There are multiple copies of def files in the workflow directory.  How do you
know which one to use?  It would be extremely tedious to compare them all.

This is from one installer.

BTW, that is a screen print of SpaceMonger (free) which I find very helpful in
identifying files and directories that can be cleaned up.  I was going to  link
to the website but just found out they went out of business at the beginning of

We have been archiving ours for a while.  Our server team also likes to point
out that these workflow directories are multiple GB, especially on a system
that has been upgraded/patched a few times.  It seems kind of crazy that the
majority of disk space is used by installer staging files.

I zip them up and keep them elsewhere just in case.  They compress pretty well
since much of it is text def files.

I guess you’re only talking about mass comparisons.

I’m sure you know that you can open an overlaid active link or filter and the
original version at the same time in Dev Studio for a side-by-side comparison.

Sanjay,

The version would be very helpful. Before 8.0 you had to use the User Tool.
8.0 and after you need to use the DMT in Mid Tier. The architecture of DMT
completely changed between 7.6.04 and 8.0.

Re: Error During Data upload in Data Management Tool

2013-04-19 Thread Peter Romain
I've had problems before when the path included spaces and brackets.

Moving the data management directory to, for example,
C:\BMCSoftware\DataManagementClient got it to work for me.

Sanjay,

The version would be very helpful. Before 8.0 you had to use the User Tool.
8.0 and after you need to use the DMT in Mid Tier. The architecture of DMT
completely changed between 7.6.04 and 8.0.

CMDB submit not working on BMC.CORE forms

2013-04-19 Thread Gordon Frank

Hello,

Has anyone run into a situation where you can not submit a new record to
theBMC.CORE.. forms (Like BMC.CORE:BMC_Monitor...)?

I seem to be able to do this on one system but not another.

It makes me think that there is a flag someplace which is preventing this.
Permission Group and Support Groups all look the same.

Any help or ideas are appreciated and Thanks,

Gordon Frank

Re: CMDB submit not working on BMC.CORE forms

2013-04-19 Thread Gordon Frank

Rick,

Basically I can not push data to one of these forms from a Filter using a Push
action.

Basically it is submitting a record. I could not do this manually either.

But on another system, I could submit records manually and with a Filter.

I have a staging form which holds the original data and through Push field
action I am trying to populate variuos classes.

I tried using AIE but it did not work. This is a 7.6.4 system on a Windows
system. DB is SQL Server.

Thanks

2013-04-19 Thread Thad Esser
That sounds like your filter push isn't matching any records. Set it so no
matching records gives an error. That'll tell you if its your push
qualification or not. Maybe you have different CIs in the two environments?

Thats whats funny. I don't see any errors. Filter Logs show that the
Filter is working, but no data gets committed. It's acting like a flag is
 set wrong.

I guess from the respose, this is something unusual and maybe if I restart
the server or something, it will start to work.

Re: CMDB submit not working on BMC.CORE forms

I wonder if it is related to sandbox. Depending on how the CMDB is
configured, new entries can go straight to the primary dataset or be cached
in the user's Sandbox dataset, where they will remain until promoted.
