Hi Kiran,

What you gave as a real enhancement (in the Tabular form), was there in v7.6.04
as well, so only I had made the post.
What John is telling makes sense but is that the only improvement John? or any
more things been improved, and if so, how do they too help?

Also, I too would like to know Terry's doubt, what if in Advance Search I enter
'Field1' = "SAGAR" instead of 'Field1' = "sagar" (or say 'Field1' = "Sagar")?
Would they give same results or will fail and will return a message saying NO

Benefit of Objects' Conversion between Origin and Custom Objects

2013-08-30 Thread Sagar G Anandpara
Hi List,

With ARS v8.1.00, a new functionality is added with which we can do conversion
of an Origin object (or a field) to a Custom Object (or a field) or vise versa.

But doing so, what would be benefit and which scenario can that be useful.

Any helpful answers greatly appreciated.

Hi Sagar,

There are "Custom" objects which are specific to a given customer (not a BMC
server object) and there are "Overlays" which is a customization performed by a
customer on a BMC server object (form, AL, filter...etc..).

Please refer to the following link for more information.also ensure to view

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the replies. I can't believe I missed this in testing prior to going
live.

We're using the Classic View. I expect to see the "Duplicate of" and the
"Original of" options in the selections available for Incident to Incident
relationships. I have checked the SYS:AssociationTypeAssocLookUp form and these
two options are not listed.

However, when looking in the SYS:Association Types form, they are listed.

Yeah, they're still there, Susan. I personally wrote some test plans around
those two relationships when we went live with 7.6.04 two years ago. And we're
still on 7.6.04, and they're still there. Are you using Best Practices or

I'm wondering if maybe they are simply in a different location from where you

that's about it. I don't know the exact form name, but what you describe

We go to the Relationships tab on an Incident ticket, set a dropdown in which
we say we want to search Incidents, enter our search terms (sometimes having to
use the advanced search window), then when we've found the Incident we want to
relate, highlight it, and there is a dropdown box for relationships in which
the Duplicate of and Original of options appear. We pick the option we want in
that dropdown and click Relate.

So unless someone else here on the List has experience with the 7.6.04 Classic

this one, or at least check their KB. (I know, never an option of first

Hello Listers!Well *of course* I am getting excited! My flight for San Jose leaves just 4 weeks from right now, and I am really looking forward to seeing you all once again and (more important, really) gathering enough evidence of dignified conference behavior to convince my managers that I have learned something new.  WWRUG13 is September 30 through October 4, 2013, at The Fairmont San Jose, in San Jose, California, USA.I'll get to the point. Actually two points today.  We hope that by now you have made your conference registration and hotel reservations. If you haven't yet, here are two things to consider: WWRUG has made arrangements with the conference hotel for a specified number of rooms at a discounted rate. We guarantee the sale and they guarantee the price. That deal ends on September 6 (a week from today), after which, if there are rooms left available, they will be booked at the normal rates. Big city in Silicon Valley. You can do the math. You can also go to 	http://wwrug13.com/reservations.html... to get the discount while it is available, sooner the better. The second point is that as we get closer to the conference date there are gradual price increases, Call it the capitalist law of supply and demand for a rare commodity if you will, but after today we are through with rewarding prudent pre-purchasers :-). You can see the registration fee table at 	http://wwrug13.com/registrations.html... and don't say you haven't seen it before. The current registration fee expires M-O-N-D-A-Y, so prompt registration is encouraged. And for many of us, Monday is a holiday. Of course, if you would prefer to register at the last minute you are free to do so. Well, not exactly "free," but you could do it that way. You'll be happier if you click through now.And about WWRUG13 being a "rare commodity?" There's only one like this. WWRUG13 includes more than 100 breakout sessions, exceptional keynotes, intimate liaison with application designers, engineers, BMC product managers and dozens of vendors in a BMC/Remedy/ITIL focused Technology Showcase. This combination of people and technology and knowledge and camaraderie (and Twinkies!) happens only once a year. Rare indeed!See you in San Jose!

Atrium Core - Uninstalling

2013-08-30 Thread Sanford, Claire
Can I just uninstall the application from the Control Panel to remove it?

I am trying to do my SP4 patch install (again) and it keeps telling me that it
shows another instance of the application, well... DUH! It was installed and
this is a patch.

I have done a WebEx with BMC support 2 or 3 times and I am getting so
frustrated. (I haven't even tackled the Test server again)

BMC said - restore the DB from a previous back up. We didn't know we had a
problem with this app for quite a while so we don't have a backup that goes
back to 7/23. I happen to have one from Feb, but that is too old!

The other problem with this is that I am doing all the patching on Dev and Test
as a prerequisite to installing the patches on Production. I can't have all
these

If I uninstall it and then try to use the patch install, the installer will
find pieces of it in the DB.

Has anyone else run into this? How did you handle it?

Re: Atrium Core - Uninstalling

2013-08-30 Thread Thad Esser
Claire,

A couple of weeks ago when installing 8.1 patch 1, I was having issues with
the installer not recognizing things correctly. The fix was to clear out
the remedy-related files in the user temp folder on the server, and re-run
the installation. When I asked the list, one of the respondees said they
had the same issue doing a 7.6.04 install. So while not exactly the same
symptoms or versions, its something easy to check (and it took a bit to get
to the right support person that knew to check there).

Good luck,
Thad

Re: WWRUG13: A month away!

2013-08-30 Thread arslist
Hi Everyone,

My Bad, as you will see on-line, the current rate expires Tomorrow not
Monday.

I kept thinking Monday is Sept. 1st, in which case it still would have been
Sunday.

[I have excuses on how I gave Doug the wrong day, good ones, but I won't use
them].

The point doesn't change: You want to go, and you don't want to pay more?
Register Today. Or Tomorrow, not later.

You plan on going and you don't have approval yet: Book the rooms before
Sept. 6th or you may find yourself in a sleeping bag by the pool.

For those of you that haven't asked for approval, take a look and see why
you should!

Daniel

**

Hello Listers!

Well *of course* I am getting excited! My flight for San Jose leaves just 4
weeks from right now, and I am really looking forward to seeing you all once
again and (more important, really) gathering enough evidence of dignified
conference behavior to convince my managers that I have learned something
new. WWRUG13 is September 30 through October 4, 2013, at The Fairmont San
Jose, in San Jose, California, USA.

I'll get to the point. Actually two points today. We hope that by now you
have made your conference registration and hotel reservations. If you
haven't yet, here are two things to consider:

WWRUG has made arrangements with the conference hotel for a specified number
of rooms at a discounted rate. We guarantee the sale and they guarantee the
price. That deal ends on September 6 (a week from today), after which, if
there are rooms left available, they will be booked at the normal rates. Big
city in Silicon Valley. You can do the math. You can also go to

http://wwrug13.com/reservations.html

... to get the discount while it is available, sooner the better.

The second point is that as we get closer to the conference date there are
gradual price increases, Call it the capitalist law of supply and demand for
a rare commodity if you will, but after today we are through with rewarding
prudent pre-purchasers :-). You can see the registration fee table at

http://wwrug13.com/registrations.html

... and don't say you haven't seen it before. The current registration fee
expires M-O-N-D-A-Y, so prompt registration is encouraged. And for many of
us, Monday is a holiday. Of course, if you would prefer to register at the
last minute you are free to do so. Well, not exactly "free," but you could
do it that way. You'll be happier if you click through now.

And about WWRUG13 being a "rare commodity?" There's only one like this.
WWRUG13 includes more than 100 breakout sessions, exceptional keynotes,
intimate liaison with application designers, engineers, BMC product managers
and dozens of vendors in a BMC/Remedy/ITIL focused Technology Showcase. This
combination of people and technology and knowledge and camaraderie (and
Twinkies!) happens only once a year. Rare indeed!

See you in San Jose!

Creating a .Net application to consume a Remedy WSDL giving IIS 500 error

2013-08-30 Thread Matthew Perrault
All,
Has anyone been able to create a 2012 .NET application to consume a Remedy Web
Service?
I ask as we have a vendor who cannot convert his application that was consuming
our 7.1 Web Service to consume the same Web Service in 7.6
We moved from IIS 2003 to IIS 2008 R2
Yet now when he tries to run it he receives a IIS 500 error

We are running:
IIS 2008 R2
ARS 7.6 P4
Windows 2008

So we provided the WSDL page for him as:
http:///arsys/WSDL/public//WebSErviceName

with the Service as:
http:///arsys/services/ARService?server=&webService=WebServiceName

Yet in .Net he is setting the web reference as:
http:///arsys/services/ARService?server=&webService=WebServiceName

So I was wondering if that & is what is causing the issue?
Any suggestions/advice?

Thanks in advance
Matt P.

I don’t know about 7.5, but this could be corrected with sp5 for 7.6.04, I
haven't had a chance to verify the results.

I just now tried the Apache config option Patrick mentions, and it seems to
work - but I tried it with EmulateIE8 instead of EmulateIE7, since I'm not
aware of this "caught exception" issue on any IE 8 browsers using Remedy (7.5

Is there any particular reason to specify IE 7 instead of IE 8?The chart on

the differences matter or not for this situation:

Hi List,

Lot of things are given in the document about the Drop Shadows in Panel/
Panel Holder, except the definition of
Drop Shadow (I hope its not just a shadow which can be along the borders)..
What exactly are Drop Shadows, but I don't want to know that as a property
which can be used for enablling/ disabling them.

Friday Humor: Hiring only married men

2013-08-30 Thread Joe D'Souza
With Labor Day around the corner I thought this would be a suitable joke to
kick off this weekend.. Happy Labor Day weekend to you all..

A certain factory had a HR policy, of hiring only married men.

Concerned and upset about this, the leader of a local Woman's Liberation
Front, called on the C.E.O. of that factory, and asked him, "Why is it, that
you limit your employees, to married men? Is it because you consider us
women weak, dumb, cantankerous, tantrum-throwers and/or bossy?"

That C.E.O. replied, "Not at all, Ma'am. Our policy, is to hire staff who:-

- are used to obeying orders, without questioning

- are accustomed to being shoved around.

- know how to keep their mouths shut. And

- would put up with anything, when I yell at them.

And we found all these qualities, only in married men...

Re: SOAP Authentication while consuming web service

2013-08-30 Thread Sachin
Joe,

I have published Remedy Web Service in 8.1 and third party application ( built
in JAVA) is consuming this Remedy web service.
As mentioned earlier, Remedy web services WSDL comes with default SOAP
authentication headers.

The consuming application here do not want to provide WSDL authentication
parameters while consuming Remedy web service.

Is there any way to generate Remedy WSDL without SOAP authentication header?
