i have seen that this happens when there is problem in the network
configuration at the load balancer level. Can you ask your network team to
recheck the configuration and make sure that there is no packet loss?

Hi,

MidTier does not connect directly to the database at all.

It uses the ARAPI to connect to the AR Server who handles all connections to
the database using a single predefined login name.

Hi Listers,

Was hoping someone could help me out with this error. Unfortunately I'm not
able to download SoapUI or the like to test it out with a 3rd party tool, as
the company does not allow it. Steps that were already done:
1. Certificates (primary and intermediary) imported into keystore
2. Keystore is references within armonitor.cfg

The exterrnal server (as well as ours) is configured to work with SSL and
require client certificates. I've tried to research the error on BMC support as
well as on the web but couldn't find much information. The error of course
appears in error and javaplugin logs. any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

SRM - Service Request Management

It's self service for your customers. They can use it to submit requests
instead of calling or emailing.

AOT - Application Object Template
PDT - Process Definition Template
SRD - Service Request Definition

Incident, Change, Work Orders

If you want to kick start your learning be prepared to be kicked. It's not
an intuitive process.

ANA is basically analytical reporting -- it can email and post to sharepoint
reports.. as well. (nice feature)..

ARS 8.1 can also do the Adhoc, and Bert reports by time as well.. CR is for
reporting with pretty formats.. etc Like ANA but does not email or sharepoint
them.

Also CR can be used on the web for web based reporting as well.

There are alot of minor differences, but with CR developer you can also just
create an RPT and plop it into the report form and anyone can use it with the
usertool.. Crystal reports viewer application (desktop app) can use it too...

just depends who and for what are you using it.

Plug-ins floating around out there, but the ones I have found I have not had
any luck with. According to BMC these plug-ins while functional are not

javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: Received fatal alert: handshake_failure on consuming web service

2014-01-07 Thread lisa bumshteyn
Hi Listers,

Was hoping someone could help me out with this error. Unfortunately I'm not
able to download SoapUI or the like to test it out with a 3rd party tool,
as the company does not allow it. Steps that were already done:
1. Certificates (primary and intermediary) imported into keystore
2. Keystore is references within armonitor.cfg

The exterrnal server (as well as ours) is configured to work with SSL and
require client certificates. I've tried to research the error on BMC
support as well as on the web but couldn't find much information. The error
of course appears in error and javaplugin logs. any help would be
appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Relationship between ARServer/Mid Tier and Database

2014-01-07 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
MidTier does not interact with the database, it interacts with the ARS Server.

As for ARS Server ... You would not connect to an Oracle database the exact
same way you connect to a DB2 and you don't connect to MS SQL Server from a Sun
Solaris SPARC system at all. Suffice it to say that the ARS Server uses a
native method related to the platform/database connected to. The requirements
for which platform connects to which databases (and clients needed) are in the
Compatibility Matrix.

method does it use ? Is it used SQL Server or any ODBC driver or any other

Menu Question

2014-01-07 Thread Brittain, Mark
HI All,

The answer to this is probably real simple. On the HPD:Help Desk form Assigned
Group menu, the menu cascades Company > Organization > Support Group. On the
Work Order this is three different fields. Tasks are also set up that way (3
fields).

I have compared the CTM:SGP:SupportGroup3-Q menu used on the Help Desk and the
WOI:WOI:WOMgr-Grp-Q menu and I am not seeing how one menu cascades and the
other does not. What am I missing?

ARS 7.6.04
ITSM 7.6.04

Thanks
Mark

Re: BMC Analytics

2014-01-07 Thread patrick zandi
you mean do comparisons and delta's between to differing types of
systems... not that I know of. (I might be wrong, but I cannot remember
seeing that).

but you could import the CSV file to a form inside remedy ARS and then do
any reporting system can do that. -- just a thought..

Analytics is for like a Analyst wanting specific details. 12K foot level
reporting
If you need heavy reporting, then I would recommend you stick with CR
custom creations (putting them into the report form), or get CR Server...

IMHO

Hi,

Does Business Analytics compare what is in a Remedy table against similar
attributes in a .CSV file?

For example if login ID is in the Remedy table, and in the .CSV file?
