Choose Russian Language (For View And Data) During Installation Process ARS 7.6.04.

 Hi, friends,

I know that BMC Remedy Action Request System 7.6.04 'support' Russian language,
but when I install it I don't see this Item on Localized Views and Data form
during installation process...

Thanks in advance,

Hi All,

If I add a panel and a button to a form does this cause the namesake view to be

Re: Caught Exception issue... (Mid Tier 8.1 Hotfixes)

2014-02-07 Thread Pierson, Shawn
I installed the February Hotfix in my test environment. Interestingly, it
seems to have changed the font used for Remedy as well. Was this intentional?
The earlier zip file appears to be corrupt on the FTP site but I assume it must
not be necessary with all the files changed by the later one.

I didn't want to hijack this email thread for my own issues but hopefully
Suresh can get some benefit from what I've run into as well.

We have been on ARS 8.1 for a couple of months but just upgraded ITSM to 8.1
(including the two patches) as of this past weekend. In testing we ran into
the Caught Exception errors that Suresh ran into, but the ITSM patches seemed
to have addressed most of those. The problem now is basically instability.
Tomcat itself keeps crashing, so I upgraded it from patch 32 to patch 37
tonight to see if that helps.

There have also been a never-ending stream of Mid Tier issues, but of very low
intensity, from 7.6.4 on with Internet Explorer. My understanding is that
Internet Explorer has defects in it that cause it to not correctly refresh
cache, and the way the Mid Tier is designed that becomes a big issue. However,
we also have run into issues with 7.6.4 that are worse on 8.1 with specific
user's cache on the Mid Tier becoming corrupt somehow and generating errors.
The only way to resolve those is to flush the cache on the Mid Tier, but doing
so messes up a small but vocal percentage of other people who have to clear
their IE browser cache.

So based on the suggestion below, I am planning on looking into the Mid Tier
hotfix. I'll open a ticket with BMC tomorrow if my system is still unstable
after the Tomcat upgrade and try to get that hotfix but I have an I.T. form of
PTSD because our implementation of 7.6.4 a couple years ago was delayed a few
months due to BMC support not being helpful with Mid Tier issues (which
resulted in a custom Mid Tier patch for us, which so far hadn't been necessary
on 8.1.)

So with all that said, I tried to guess the 8.1 path on the FTP site below but
couldn't find one that worked. I also tried searching their Knowledge Base
because I often find hotfixes in there, including several that have gone in
with my 8.1 install.

Thanks,

Shawn Pierson

Status Reason field synchronization between HPD:Help Desk and HPD:IncidentInterface

2014-02-07 Thread Neha Khandelwal
Hello List,

Again I need your assistance in following issue-

1. On HPD:Help Desk form, under field Status_Reason_Hidden I have added few
more selection values.
2. Join form HPD:IncidentInterface, Status_Reason field is referred from
Status_Reason_Hidden field of its base form HPD:Help Desk Form.
3. Status Reason field of Join form HPD:IncidentInterface does not get updated
for its new values from Status_Reason_Hidden field of HPD:Help Desk form.
( I assumed if we add new values in field of base form, it gets updated
automatically in the same field of Join form also).
4. I tried to delete field Status_Reason from HPD:IncidentInterface form so
that I can again add it from base form HPD:Help Desk, but it is not getting
deleted. I am not sure why, is it because this field is referred in the
webservice created on form HPD:IncidentInterface form?

Can someone please assist me as how to get Status Reason field values in sync
between HPD:Help Desk and HPD:IncidentInterface forms?

Regards
Neha Khandelwal

Hi Andrey!

What OS are you installing to? And what database?
If that's Windows/MS SQL, the server OS should be localized, and Russian
MUI should be installed. Best case is if you're using the Russian version
from the very beginning.

We are also consistently having this issue with it getting much worse with the
move from 7.6 – 8.1, although this would also be in line with users moving from
IE 8 to v9 or v10. As others have mentioned some people get it consistently
while others never get it. I have been unable to identify anything different
between the users setup. Our AR, ITSM, Mid Tier are all 8.1 patch 1. I have
not had the chance to try the latest service pack so it would be great to hear
if it resolves or even helps this issue.

I installed the February hotfix on our 8.1 test mid-tier server. We are still
getting caught exception errors. I have a webex today with BMC support.

Like many of you, we started seeing Caught Exception errors (different from
the caught exception errors related to compatibility issues with IE9 and
IE10) after upgrading to 7.6.4. We also started seeing some fields duplicated,
and/or in the wrong places after the upgrade.

user's cache on the Mid Tier becoming corrupt somehow and generating errors.

Re: Caught Exception issue... (Mid Tier 8.1 Hotfixes)

2014-02-07 Thread Bray, Joshua
Regarding the caught exception errors, we've noticed 2 issues. One is the
cache issue (which only happens to some users) and the other is a compatibility
issue with IE9 and IE10. I've seen probably 20 or 30 various caught exception
errors. There is one specifically related to the compatibility issue. That
error is Caught exception :Unable to get value of the property 'nodeType':
object is null or undefined. The only difference between that error and the
other cache related errors is 'nodetype'. When we see that 'nodetype' error, we
send the users instructions on how to run in compatibility mode. If it's a
different Caught exception error, we have to clear the cache.

I'm curious if others have noticed something different.

We are also consistently having this issue with it getting much worse with the

IE 8 to v9 or v10. As others have mentioned some people get it consistently

2014-02-07 Thread Pierson, Shawn
Based on an earlier email in this thread the first thing I would try in your
situation would be to upgrade Tomcat. I can confirm that the upgrade I did to
Tomcat a few nights ago helped in my organization. It didn't resolve
everything as we were able to get a weird random HTTP 500 error (which required
the user to clear his browser cache) but that is much more rare than the Caught
Exception errors or the Tomcat crashes that we were getting before.

Tony,

We are on the latest Hot Fix and still not working. Our only solution for
now is to tell our customer to revert to IE8 for now until we have a fix
in place. BMC is telling us they have their top engineer on our
particular issue looking at all our logs, def files etc. We have had many
webex with the support team. We are now setting up a webex with that top
engineer.
One thing that kind of work for us is to clear the cookies since clearing
the cache and compatibility mode doesn't work. That doesn't fix the
entire issue but partially makes it workable.

Subject Caught Exception issue... (Mid Tier 8.1 Hotfixes)

2014-02-07 Thread John Baker
Shawn: The http 500 error is caused by the application crashing. Tomcat will
write the stack trace to localhost.log and typically to the screen too. If you
search your log files for exception, you probably have lots. Our lives,
debugging SSO issues, is often made tough through log files that are literally
an ocean of exceptions (usually from the over-engineered cache).

The Caught Exception problem seems to be a catch all piece of Javascript,
effectively swallowing all the evidence required to fix the core fault in the
Javascript. It looks like someone added this catch all, and now BMC support is
flooded with quality issues, but can not reproduce them as the evidence (stack
trace, stack contents, item of workflow being executed) is lost.

The poster who deletes the cache on startup provides interesting feedback on
the Mid Tier cache. I literally don't understand why it exists on disc given
Mid Tier crawls ITSM, bringing Tomcat to a standstill, for 30minutes after
Tomcat starts. The idea of a cache is to avoid refetching data! :) I have
looked at how I can rewrite the caching but the problems go too deep into Mid
Tier. I put some tracing around it and discovered, in places, Mid Tier is
loading all the fields on a form and then not using them. I concluded that
without source code, I couldn't make the cache work efficiently.

The logic was changed so that if a problem is detected, then the error is
still displayed but nothing is stored to memory. Thus the next time the

successful the second time.In addition, the error should give a date/time

Re: Caught Exception issue... (Mid Tier 8.1 Hotfixes)

2014-02-07 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
The bad thing is I need IE 11 to solve a completely separate issue.

The issue is my users want an easier way to put a screenshot into a ticket.
The current process is:
User gets an error in an app.
   Take a screenshot (PrtScn).
   Open up Word
   Paste the screenshot
   Save the file.
Open the help desk web page to create a ticket and enters info needed. We
have a button to add attachments, so the user clicks the button and adds the
saved word file.
Click submit to create the ticket.

Since we are on 7.6.04 I figured Hey I can add a Rich Text field to the help
desk form for them to paste into. I added the field on Dev and tried it.
   Take screenshot (PrtScn)
Open up dev help desk page in FireFox
Select the new screenshot field and paste; Eureka, the printscreen image is
there (Found out it is an inline image img
src=data:image/png;base64,EncodedImageDataHere alt= )

The problem comes in when I try it with IE. When I paste the screenshot image
nothing appears. I open word and paste and the image is there, so I know it is
in the buffer. Doing some Google searches I find out IE doesn't support
accessing the buffer for anything except text until IE 11.

Don't you just love working with computers on some days?

Fred

I remember an issue a user had here a while back that turned out he had
installed the 64 bit Office. It caused strange compatibility issues with apps
you would have never thought would be affected.

Subject: Re: Caught Exception issue... (Mid Tier 8.1 Hotfixes)

We are currently running on Weblogic 10.5 with ARS 764 sp2, Midtier Version
8.1.00 201310040425 Hotfix.

We are also having the same issue. BMC has said that the latest hot fix solves
a lot of the issues. We have applied it to our dev server but we could never
reproduce the error in that env. so I am not sure if it fixes anything. My
understand some caching logic was changed:

The logic was changed so that if a problem is detected, then the error is
still displayed but nothing is stored to memory. Thus the next time the
object is requested, Midtier will try to cache it again... hopefully more
successful the second time.In addition, the error should give a date/time
stamp of the error in the midtier log for further investigation.

1. I also see a change in the font
2. The midtier/cache structure has changed 3. There were several new files in
the release.

2014-02-07 Thread Susan Palmer
I miss the user tool too ... but I find the speed of mid-tier is faster.
Although we're not using ITSM so that may be a factor.

I'm just learning to really dislike browsers!

One other question is: What OS is the end user running? When searching
the web I see all sorts of issues related to specific versions of IE
against specific versions of the Windows OS (notably Windows 8).
