Are you using IE to access the Mid-tier? Are you using SSL? If yes, on IE,

Under File, select New Session. In the new browser, try you URL again.

Re: 8.1 server group architecture

2015-02-20 Thread Carl Wilson
Hi Rick,

Best to install the full suite, makes for less issues in the future and for the
possibility that this may end up being another user server or similar.

You could also think about cloning an existing server and updating the required
references.

As the operations that you specify will only run on this server, you can
allocate system resources through configuration to target the operations that
will occur on this server than that of the other servers i.e. more memory to
CMDB and RE that the other servers (through Java settings, etc). Effectively
you would tune this server for specific tasks/operations.

Ideally you would allocate more memory to this server to accommodate the
additional overheads and functions.

Kind Regards,

Carl Wilson

Scott, assuming that you are using IIS you might want to check the security
settings there. I have seen in the past that in a version upgrade Microsoft
will suddenly lock down things for “security reasons” which might be blocking
access. I can’t tell you exactly what to look for but if the Sandra’s
suggestions don’t help you might try opening the IIS control panel and looking
at things like directory security.

Analytics 7.6.06 server issue

2015-02-20 Thread Daniel Pritchard
Good Morning

I have an Analytics 7.6.06 server that was previously installed on a
Windows 2008 R2 with a SQL database. The servers seem to be up and running
and I can log into the CMC as well as the BI Launchpad as well as the
Universe designer.

The issue I am having is that the Universe does not exist and there are
missing ITSM reports. The folders under \Filestore\Input folder do not
exist.

I re-ran the Analytics 7.6.06 with the hopes that it would re-add the
universe and reports. This did not fix the issues.

Is there a way to get the ITSM Universe as well as the reports back if
there were no backups?

Karthick-

I know that others share my opinion that when you are jumping ahead multiple
big versions like this it is probably better to stand up a fresh 8.1.02
environment and migrate relevant data from the old system to the new. That is
my plan when I get a chance to work on upgrading our 7.1 environment to 8.1.02
myself (although I am working with Linux servers). I believe there were quite a
few posts to the list in the last six months or so regarding exactly this topic
so you might want to visit arslist.org and search for the old posts there.

In fact I did a quick search of my mailbox and found a thread named Upgrade to
8.1 AR/ITSM from just last month regarding this. Contact me off-list if you
would like me to send over the messages. That thread had a mention of the AMIGO
program which you should also investigate.

Our current remedy environment is 7.1 Version and it's database version is SQL

We are planning for an upgrade it to latest version 8.1.02 version.
We have planned in 2 sections, first upgrading Remedy 7.1 to 7.6.04 and then to
7.6.04 to 8.1.02.

We have a new test server which is Windows Server 2012 R2 64 Bit and SQL Server
2014 64 Bit Enterprise Edition.

We have planned to take a backup copy of AR System DB from production server
which has DB version 2005 and copied into 2014 SQL DB version, from their we
can perform the upgrade.
Is it possible, please let me know.?

Or creating a test DB at 2005 SQL version, start the upgrade in Windows Server
2012 R2 64 Bit and point it to test DB (2005 SQL version) and later on moving
the DB instance from 2005 SQL DB to 2014 SQL DB.

the best practice is to install the same software on all of the machines in
the group so that any 1 can take over any function at any time in the
future, because you never quite know what the future holds...

 Hi,

I have a server group that consists of an admin server and a single
non-admin server. The admin server carries the load of all admin
functions, while the non-admin server is only for end users.

Recently, some of my atrium work has really been taxing the resources of
my admin server (extremely high CPU and RAM utilization), and I'm
investigating adding a third server solely for atrium/spoon (recon,
 normalization, custom spoon jobs, etc.).

My question is: can I simply install ARS and Atrium on this third server,
or do I have to install the entire suite?

 Thanks,

 Rick

Yup. We are doing the same upgrade, and are doing it via the build and
migrate plan, not an upgrade in place.

There are some bugs in the 8.1.02 installers, too, as I am finding. All
the more reason to do it in a simpler environment.

I know that others share my opinion that when you are jumping ahead
multiple big versions like this it is probably better to stand up a fresh
8.1.02 environment and migrate relevant data from the old system to the
new. That is my plan when I get a chance to work on upgrading our 7.1
environment to 8.1.02 myself (although I am working with Linux servers). I
believe there were quite a few posts to the list in the last six months or
so regarding exactly this topic so you might want to visit arslist.org

In fact I did a quick search of my mailbox and found a thread named
“Upgrade to 8.1 AR/ITSM” from just last month regarding this. Contact me

mention of the AMIGO program which you should also investigate.

 suggestions on this.

Our current remedy environment is 7.1 Version and it’s database version is
 SQL 2005.

We are planning for an upgrade it to latest version 8.1.02 version.

We have planned in 2 sections, first upgrading Remedy 7.1 to 7.6.04 and
 then to 7.6.04 to 8.1.02.

We have a new test server which is Windows Server 2012 R2 64 Bit and SQL
Server 2014 64 Bit Enterprise Edition.

We have planned to take a backup copy of AR System DB from production
server which has DB version 2005 and copied into 2014 SQL DB version, from
their we can perform the upgrade.

Is it possible, please let me know.?

Or creating a test DB at 2005 SQL version, start the upgrade in Windows
Server 2012 R2 64 Bit and point it to test DB (2005 SQL version) and later
on moving the DB instance from 2005 SQL DB to 2014 SQL DB.

Reports cutting off at 2000 records

2015-02-20 Thread Terri Lockwood
I've got a dilemma that I'm hoping you experts can help me with. Have a
development system with version 8.1.01. I'm trying to pull company records and
have tried both from AR User and from MidTier. I can pull 2412 records from

(Report from User tool reports on all 5000) I went into the System Admin

GetList was set to 2000. I have changed it to 5000 and saved it. I cleared
both browser and server cache but it will still only return 2000 records using
the web. I then restarted both the app and midtier server. Sill the same.
Where am I missing another setting? Thanks in advance for your help!

I am having this same issue. I have done all that you have, along with modify
the mid-tier config.properties file entries:

arsystem.nativereport.onscreen_max_entries=2000
arsystem.FileExport_max_entries=2000

I changed both to be 5000 and yet it still brought back only 2000 after a full

The FTS reindexing finished this morning, thankfully! So I guess we still

 Jase,

So I asked BMC the same questions, and they seemed to think that the
reindexing will weather the reboot fine.

   * How will this impact the FTS Reindex if it is still in progress?

BMC : It will break your FTS Reindex for that time period.

   * Will the reindexing pick up where it left off once the DB connection
is re-established? (the AR Server usually recovers just fine these days)

BMC : Yes the Reindex should attempt to pick up from where it left off.

   * Would shutting down the AR Server first make things worse, or better
(in terms of the re-indexing operations)?

BMC : Either way, AR Server or DB being down breaks the FTS Reindex, so
it doesn't matter whoever is first down.

   * Are there any preventative steps I can take to keep the FTS index
from becoming corrupted (which seems to happen really easily and is my main
 concern)?

BMC : We do not expect any corruption to occur, But you can enable FTS
logs before server goes down to see any errors.

I guess we'll see. I've got my fingers crossed that it just finishes
before then so I don't have to worry about it.
