In a filter a simple Set Fields with PROCESS action can get an environment
variable from the server

On Windows
$PROCESS$ cmd /c echo %VARIABLE%
On Unix/Linux
$PROCESS$ echo $VARIABLE

i.e. To get the TEMP location
In a set fields action set a character field to
$PROCESS$ cmd /c echo %TEMP%

NOTE: You may then have to do a replace on the field to remove the return at
the end (Some versions of *nix will allow you to do echo –n $VARIABLE which
will output without the trailing newline)

Chris,
Write a batch file/perl script/your favorite language that will get the
variable and it's value and put it in the output of the script. Put the script
on all of your environments. Create a filter that does a set-field run-process
that populates a field with the output from that script, then do whatever you
want with the output :)

Re: Error installing Atrium Core Patch 8.1.0.2

2015-03-26 Thread Patil, Vivek
Please check whether value of BMC_AR_SYSTEM_HOME is unique at below locations:
1] C:\windows\ProductRegistry.xml
2] AtriumCoreInstalledConfiguration.xml
3] environment variable BMC_AR_SYSTEM_HOME

Questions:
1] is this 8.1.02 Patch or 8.1 Service Pack 2 [ 8.1.02 ] ; both are
different ..can you share screenshot of welcome screen.
2] In %TEMP%\ atriumcore_install_log.txt you should be able to find where
installer is trying to search.

Tips :
1] check the class in atriumcore_install_log.txt which is throwing this error.
2] Once known, you can use JAVA debugger and check that code of that class …it
will help you to find what’s wrong.

Hello all,

We are setting up a new production environment. ARSystem, ITSM and Attrium
Core are all installed. When we try to install the patch for Attrium Core, we
get an error.
LOG EVENT {Description=[SET PROPERTY
VALIDATION_ERROR_RESULT],Detail=[INVALID_AR_INSTALLATION_NOT_FOUND]}

I would think that NOT finding an invalid install would be a good thing, but
apparently not in this case. So... the atrium patch installer cannot find our
AR install even though it had no problems finding the arcache.exe within the AR
install directory a few lines above this error.

Support has sent us new ARSystemInstalledConfiguration.xml and
AtriumCoreInstalledConfiguration.xml files that have not helped. I have
verified that the BMC_AR_SYSTEM_HOME path is set correctly.

We are on Windows 2008 SP2 server
Oracle 11gR2 db.

Thanks,
James

Re: Major Issue: AD Remedy

2015-03-26 Thread Hennigan, Sandra, CTR, DSS
The Site is required to add a new CTM:People record.

If using ARDBC, create a staging form. Push AD data to the Staging form.
In Remedy, for each Company whose data comes from AD, add a default Site -
something like Need to Update.
Using workflow, update your Staging form records with the default Site by
Company instead of what AD holds.
Have the Staging form push the completed data set to CTM:People.
Use a Need to Update search against CTM:People to return which records to
update.

By choosing to change AD data manually for Remedy, the Remedy admins end up
owning data. No one else is required to consider data integrity. WRONG
approach. See if you can get your customer to designate a data owner and
determine the data gold source. Push AD data to your Staging form. Run some
workflow to normalize the data from what AD presents to what Remedy needs.
Push the data set to CTM:People. Run reports and use CTM:People data content
to require a change to AD.
Example: AD Office field reads Alex and Remedy Site needs to have
Alexandria. Create workflow against your Staging form to modify Office =
Alex to Site=Alexandria prior to pushing the data.

Thank you,

Sandra

Hi,

We have some bad data in AD. Our team plans to disconnect the location
information that we are receiving from AD, and upload new location
information into Remedy from a spreadsheet. From that point location updates
will be done manually, but authentication will still continue between AD and
Remedy. I have never not seen AD location information used. I see this
leading to a Remedy administrative manual effort. Does anyone have any
thoughts, or things that we need to be warned about? Is anyone not using
some type of repository to load the People location data?

Major Issue: AD Remedy

2015-03-26 Thread Koyb P. Liabt
Hi,

We have some bad data in AD. Our team plans to disconnect the location
information that we are receiving from AD, and upload new location
information into Remedy from a spreadsheet. From that point location updates
will be
done manually, but authentication will still continue between AD and
Remedy. I have never not seen AD location information used. I see this
leading
to a Remedy administrative manual effort. Does anyone have any thoughts, or
things that we need to be warned about? Is anyone not using some type of
repository to load the People location data?

Re: Major Issue: AD Remedy

2015-03-26 Thread Pierson, Shawn
I would build a staging form to update the People data from the spreadsheet,
which should be sucked into your custom staging form by Atrium Integrator. I
would make sure whoever maintains that spreadsheet agrees to keep everything in
a specific format and use values that only exist in Remedy (you could use the
Data Load tool to bulk load the Locations before updating the People records if
you want.)

That being said, most places want AD to have valid locations because that's
what Exchange uses and where most users will go to get contact information for
people. I would push back if possible, but have what I mentioned above as a
backup plan anyway.

Thanks,

Shawn Pierson
