Generally (but not always), the page names stay the same, but the path to
the version changes.  So you can take what Satya sent, and change the "81"
to "90" and get there:

I find that helps when searching gives me the page I want, but for a
different version than I'm looking for.

I took a look at the link that Satya sent me, then I went into the 9.0
stream and followed the links, but it just isn't there for 9.  Still, I'm
pretty sure the 8.x version should give me what I need.

My opinion of the BMC documentation is not good.  I find it to be poorly
written, heavy on theory, but often light on the actual How To.

Max heap size, ARS 9.0

So BMC Support wants us to make some changes - specifically they want us to 
bump our arserverd.conf file (under //ar/bin) to 10 GB for the max 
heap size.  This is the baseline recommendation for a customer our size.

Obviously we're a  larger user - two servers in the server group, thousands of 
incidents a day.

Right now the server (Linux) has 30 GB of memory but freemem shows only a few 
hundred MB free.  But then again this is Linux, so "free" memory isn't the same 
as Windows - the OS takes it and redistributes it as needed (there's some kind 
of political joke to be made in there).

Has anyone run into this?  I'm not sure how to tell what will happen if we bump 
it. We're at 6GB Max Heap size right now.

My secondary problem is our test servers only have 8GB of memory, so there's no 
way to test this on a different environment.  I did successfully blow up the 
dev server by setting it to that thinking "Maybe it won't try to use it all".  
I was wrong...

For the last week, I have been trying to find some documentation that
actually explains how to go about creating tasks and task group templates.
And as usual, I am left with the opinion that the Documentation for Remedy
has become an absolute embarrassment!

I was able to find (under Change Management) a 19 page document on TMS, but
while it extensively explained what I would call the theory behind the
process, it did not give instructions on how to actually create these
templates.

Basically, I have not found a decent piece of documentation that says "Here
are the steps you take to create a Task Group".  This is the kind of
information these fields want.  Same for Task Templates.  You know A
MANUAL!

Does anyone know where I might find this information (ARS/ITSM 9.0.01)?  It
wouldn't surprise me if I have been looking in the wrong place.

Hi,

This is a little complicated, and the OTB solution in 7.6.04 is not pretty...

I ones created a general purpose solution to be able to add any field with
only a few display-only-fields and filters if I remember right.

But if you are only after one field, it might be easier to reverse engineer
the OTB solution and add your field there amongst the other
REPLACE-functions...

Add fields to OTB notifications

Hi All

I have been asked to add a couple of fields to the Group and Assignee 
notifications. One in particular is Company. Using the OTB Notifications, how I 
would add Company? The field is not available from the menus on the 
SYS:Notification Messages form. The menu traces back to the SYS:Form Field 
Selection form. Do I just need to add a record there and then select from the 
menu on the SYS:Notification Messages form? Or is there more to do? If any one 
has a step by step list for this, it would be most appreciated.
