Tim,

We use TelAlert for our messaging processes. It's currently on Solaris but
I've played with the Windows version. They are virtually the same.

We have used a traditional modem but are switching over to GSM modems. This
provides a lot more flexibility with sending messages to some of the service
providers. There are some direct dial gateways for service providers but many
are turning them off because of the expense or they charge a fee for monthly
use. Along the same lines, email interfaces with some providers are being or
have been turned off. This is especially true in Asia Pacific as the email
interfaces were common spam targets.

Tim,

It sounds like the following is what you are encountering:

You have a form named A and it has a view with a label called AView1.

You see the entry point list and AView1 is showing up on the list.

So far so good.

You now add a new view to form A and give it an entry point label of AView2

You look at the entry point list and AView1 is showing up but not AView2.

Is this the issue?

If so, the problem is the following:

A given form will show up in the entry point list only one time. Regardless of
the number of views and
regardless of whether those views have an entry point label or not. A form can
only show up one time. If
there are serveral views with the entry point label value specified, it will
pick the one for the right locale for
the user and if there are several for the same locale, just the first one it
finds.

If you want to have multiple entry points that show up that are for the same
form but opening in different
ways, you will have to use guides and mark them as being entry points to
accomplish the opening in
different modes. Then, you can have multiple entry points showing up that will
open the same form just
in different ways.

Doug

be having issues connecting to the mail server, or the connection is getting

action, the connection is no longer valid.

Users can not select Assignee after ITSM upgrade from 7.0.02 to 7.0.03 patch 7

Hi All,

We are running arsytem 7.1 patch 7 ITSM now 7.0.03 patch 7. As an admin I can

[cid:image001.png@01CAC05A.73ED1F70]

There is no one in the drop down list. I had to make the requestor ID public
for the Support company/org and Group to public, now they can select those
fields, but assignee menu is still blank.

Anyone run into this when upgrading, I can not find anything in the patch about
this.

Tim,

Build a statistic form..

When an incident is created, workflow to look up the statistic form, and if a
record for that customer does not exist, it creates a record, and the second
part of the workflow, to set that statistic form with a total count of
incidents that were raised for that customer.. Use a direct SQL to get that
count..

Build a web service against this form, to retrieve the most current count..

Performance issues

2010-02-18 Thread Tim Rondeau
Arsystem 7.1 patch 7 ITSM suite, using SLM, CMDB, Change Management, Problem
and Incident

We are running SQL 2005 on windows 2003 server, plenty of CPU/disk and RAM.

Looking for some feed back on how some have handled performance issues.

We process about 400 changes a day and about 800 incidents a day. Just seems
like this system can't handle it. DB timeouts, white screens all the time.
DBA of course states no issues.

In March we are moving to Oracle RAC, which will be 2 robust db servers. APP
will still be on windows.

Tim,

You mean you need all text after the occurrence of the first - (hyphen
character)

If so your function would look somewhat like (assuming that a field called
zfield contains that text)

LPAD(SUBSTR($zfield$, STRSTR($zfield$, -)+1 ))

You do not need the second parameter for SUBSTR as you want it get everything
after -. LPAD is added for an extra measure to remove all trailing blank
spaces..

Hope this helps..

Cheers

Tim,

Do you mean you wanted to pick out only the string 123 from the whole string
This is a test of parsing - test123

If so you can do that by a nested function use of SUBSTR with STRSTR.. How you
use it purely depends on what really would be the contents of the entire
dataset and what you need to pick out..

Checked Fixed Licenses

2010-01-08 Thread Tim Rondeau
Hi All,

Arsystem 7.1 patch 7 SQL 2005

Anyone have issue with assigning fixed application licenses like Incident Fixed
User or Change fixed user license?

Filter:

CTM:PPG:Add_100_ChkLicenseFixed

Keeps coming back then to:

CTM:PPG:Add_105_NoFixed-E

Saying that all fixed Incident User licenses are in use. We have none, seems
like an out of box bug.

Anyone ran into this?

Group Notifcations using DL's or something else

2009-12-11 Thread Tim Rondeau
ARYSTEM 7.1 Patch 7

Looking into ways of cutting down group emails, maybe going out as a DL instead
of one person at a time in that group. We are sending over 4 emails a day
and a lot of this is group notification. This all goes through the
notification tool.

This is not ideal to send 100 emails out to all group members. Instead I want
to send one.

Anyone done this?

Thanks

The version of CMDB you are on is incompatible with the version of ARS you're
on. We had the same problem here.

You'll need to contact BMC Support and have them help you clean up the
meta-data that is now inconsistent, then upgrade/patch your CMDB.

Hi Tim,

Not sure what DB you are using. But have you checked for locks at the db level?
We had a similar issue and the error we were getting was mis-leading and
pointing us to the plugins, when infact it was locks at the db levels for the
tables that the plugin was accessing that was slowing/timing out operations.

We are running ARS 7.1 P5 with ITSM 7.0.3 Patch 7 (server groups) on a windows
server with SQL Server 2005 db on the backend.

Tim as per BMC's recommendation for performance tunning for email engine,
please check the following setting in your emaildeamon.properties file and make
the neccessary changes. You will experience a HUGE performance boost.

Change the following entries in the emaildeamon.properties file from 100 to 200:

com.remedy.arsys.emaildaemon.IncomingConnectionRecycleSize=200

com.remedy.arsys.emaildaemon.IncomingMessagesQueueSize=200

Tim,

If the unprocessed emails in that form are not really important, then I would
suggest to truncate the T64 and H64 and the email attachment tables T H and B
table.. and the other relationship tables

Then once you have the ball rolling again, make sure that a new email after
being processed is being auto deleted. I do not remember offhand if its an
escalation that deletes it periodically or if a filter deletes it after having
processed the email. But whatever it is - if it fails to delete, you need to
look into why. Maybe your error logs would tell you something?

SLM Measurement Reports

2009-09-13 Thread Tim Rondeau
Hi All,

Arsystem 7.0.1 patch 2 SLM 7.0.02

Looking to run some SLM Measurement reports. Besides the ones out of the box.
We have been having plenty of issues with trying to run anything off of the
SLM Measurement.

We basically created a join between the Help Desk and SLM Measurement to get
the fields we want. Which are Svt Title, met/missed and Incident #, company.
We made sure fields that need to be indexed have been, this basically brings
our Database to a halt.

Wondering if anyone has run into similar issues and how they have dealt with
getting the data.

Upgraded from 7.0.1 to 7.1 Server Information missing on User Tool

This is through the 7.1 client. When I look at admin tool through 7.0.1, all

Remedy Application Service

Hi,

Arsystem 7.0.1 patch 2 ITSM suite

We are looking to make sure requests from the Requestor Console come in from
the user and not from the Remedy Application Service user. This functionality
on the Changes comes in from the actual user when submitting via the requestor

The Incidents however come from the Remedy Application Service as the submitter.

Before I put changes into the workflow, I am wondering if there is some setting
I am missing?

People Form Open Ticket Count

2009-06-30 Thread Tim Rondeau
Hi everyone,

We are using the auto assignment on Incidents and I noticed people count of
open Incidents is like 246000, in reality they have only 17 open Incidents and
no changes.

Does anyone know of a bug with this Open Ticket Count on the people form?

We are running 7.0.1 with patch 2 on windows.

CPU spike 100%

2009-06-22 Thread Tim Rondeau
Hi All,

Getting CPU spike of 100% consitantly. Restart stays fine and then goes up to
100% again.

We are on Arserver 7.1 patch 2. Windows 2003.

I noticed an SLM patch for 7.1 patch 3 fixes a loop for next Business Time Get
Next window. Has anyone had this issue on 7.0.1 and how did they resolve.

Thanks

Tim

Looking for best way to upgrade from 7.0.1 to 7.1.0

2009-06-09 Thread Tim Rondeau
Hi,

Attempting to upgrade from 7.0.1 patch 2 to 7.1 patch 7

Basically we have:

Arserver - 7.0.1 patch 2 upgrade to 7.1 patch 7
Approver - 7.0.1upgrade to 7.1 patch 7
Change - 7.0.2 upgrade to 7.0.3 patch 7
Incident - 7.0.2upgrade to 7.0.3 patch 7
Problem - 7.0.2upgrade to 7.0.3 patch 7

So I did upgrade/patch Arserver/Approval/assignment/Change/Incident/Problem and
my forms got overwritten and workflow I have shut off is back on. So do I
need to reimport my forms and workflow?

This is all on Windows 2003 running SQL 2005.

Looking for others that have upgraded ITSM module and what they have done.

Thanks

Tim

CRQ's Assignment

2009-05-29 Thread Tim Rondeau
Running ars 7.0.1 patch 2 on SQL 2005, ITSM

Currently having issues which only happens now and then, but causes issues.
Basically a Change Request is assigned to a group or individual, but it looks
like to that person it really is not assigned to there group or that person.

I found CHGImpGroup is null so an active link sets all the fields, which
basically sets them to null. I go in and manually reassign to that group and
everything is fine.

Wondering if anyone else ran into this and if there was a fix that is out
there, seems to be out of box issue. Before I go fixing on my own,

Thanks

SLM Met

2009-05-28 Thread Tim Rondeau
Hi All,

Trying to find out if there is a way to keep met/Missed SLA's. Even though
the term and condition has changed, if any have been met/missed prior I want
them to stay.

If they are In Process then I understand them dropping off.

Basically I have an SLA that applies to all priorities except one LOW. I
don't want this SLA to get attached if the priority is LOW. Issue is when
Ticket is set to Low.

Anyone do anything like this.

Thanks

Tim
