Re: SRM Approval Question

2008-07-15 Thread Troy Sasso
Drew,

How did you build the mapping in the Approval Mappings form or from the SRD??

Was the SRD ever in a status of "Deployed" before you attempted to create this
SRD Approval? If so, try creating a new SRD (test) and re-do the approval
mapping.

Also,
1. Make sure the Approval is listed as Group on the Approval Mappings form
2. Make sure the SR Definition is set for Approval. On the Approval Tab, what
option have you selected; 'Set using Approval Engine, Individuals'? --> Try
setting the options to Catalog Manager. I'm assuming that you are assigned to
this Role.
3. Maybe try switching the Approval mapping to Individual for this specific
SRD then see if the approval shows up.

Let me know,

Troy Sasso

Re: Crystal Reports don’t display

2008-07-15 Thread Troy Sasso
Dwayne,

Did any of the custom form permissions change by chance? I've had this happen
in past where the CR runs perfectly. But when added and run from an entry in
the WUT Report form, shows a blank screen. This turned out to be related to
permissions on the custom form anf form fields.

Or, have any of your ARServer settings, ODBC settings changed since Friday?

Re: LDAP Problem with vendor form

2008-07-15 Thread Troy Sasso
Try to plug your values into the following tool first.

Softerra LDAP Browser.

http://www.ldapbrowser.com/

I've always used this as a prep to an AD or LDAP read for Remedy. The Softerra
tool is free and builds the URL for you. Once you connect via Softerra and are
happy with what you see, simply copy/paste the URL from softerra into the
Vendor form and presto.

But, before you can plug this into Remedy, make sure you configure ARDBC
properly.

Re: Risk Level inconsistency within Change Management 7.0.01 and Approval Engine 7.0.01

2008-07-15 Thread Troy Sasso
HI folks,

Believe it or not. This is a documented bug for 7.0x. I came by this back in
June of 07. The Values in the Change tool are opposite those in the Approval
engine.

If I remember correctly...
A change was made to the Risk level values just before product release and was
not updated in the documentation. The developers had found that the values
that had been used either for change or approval did not allow for expansion of
the Risk values. So, they reversed the values in one portion of the tool and
not the other.

I'm searching for the documenation and SW# now and hope to have a more solid
explanation/answer for you in about an hour.

Could you respond to my email?

Mid-tier timestamps off by Eastern minus 4 hours...

2007-11-28 Thread Troy Sasso
Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well.

I've come across the Mid-tier timestamp bug, I know it
was a posting back in August, I'm not sure if anyone
found out how to resolve it though.

My Win2003 servers are set to Eastern and I'm NOT
using a Preference Server.

When a user attempts to display any timestamp in
Mid-tier it displays Eastern minus 4 hours. I'm
assuming this is a Java file issue within the Mid-tier
local directories since I'm running the latest RKM on
this machine without issues.

Thanks,

Troy

Midtier error; ARERR 9215

Hello all,

AR mid-tier 7.x on Win2003, Tomcat 5.5

Users are being presented with the login screen, when
they try to login, they see ARERR 9215. The Mid-tier
config tool works perfectly though.

Not a lot of reading material out there on this one.
I know a lot of others have seen this, how did you get
by it?

Thanks.

What about the Roles of the Suport people within your

I know this is basic, but, have you assigned the Role
of Work Order Manager to anyone and then assigned them

After my install, these are the two main things that I
did in order to fix the issue you are facing.

Let me know.

2007-09-24 Thread Troy Sasso
I've seen this.

Go to the Application Admin console. Then click on
the 'Assignment link'. Make sure you have an
Assignment record setup for the WorkOrder module.
Then, when you have it setup, look at the radio
buttons along the bottom right hand side of the record
and ensure the "Work Order Manager' radio button is
selected.

Hi Tony,

Thanks. Unfortunately, the installer options under
the DB2 section do not allow for the password to be
entered for AR 7.0.1, just the Username.

AR 7.0.1 Windows 2003 install on a remote DB2 database

2007-09-21 Thread Troy Sasso
Hi everyone,

We're running into issues on our base AR install with
the script wanting to utilize the ARAdmin username and
AR#Admin# password to build the ARSystem tablespace on
DB2.

When we built this on HP Unix we were able to
manipulate the arinstall.sh and force the use of
another username ie: ARS and a password that had no #
characters in it.

How do we get around this with the Windows AR install
script for DB2??

Thanks!!

Hello all,

Is there a specific reason why BMC is not mentioning
Windows 2003 SP2 in the compatibility matrix or any
Windows patch for that matter?

How is it running for those of you that have built AR
7.x on Win2003 with SP2?

Thanks,

SLM 7.0.3 - Service Target 'Stop When' qualifications not working.

2007-09-07 Thread Troy Sasso
Hello all,

I've been running SLM 7.0.3 for a month now with SLA's
in place that are working quite well based on the OOB
'Incident Resulution' templates for Measurement.

But, as soon as I try modify the 'Stop When'
qualaifcation, things break. The Service Target will
remain as 'In Process' no matter what I do. This
takes place for Service Target qualifications using
the templates or using non-template qualifications.

The 'Start When' logic seems fine and attaches
whenever I want. This problem only exists on the
stop.

Has anyone come accross this?

Wow, I see it.

Thanks. Now the battle of the delimiter begins. I'll
keep you posted as to my success in changing it.

Hi Peter,

As far as I can see, no. I've run through the KB and
EIE manuals for any type of instruction as to the
differing type of separators the flat-file adaptor can
handle. So far, I haven't seen anything.

EIE 7.0 on Win2003 using the correct seperators in flatfiles

2007-07-23 Thread Troy Sasso
Hi Gang,

Hope you're all having a nice Monday.

I've got some test data exchanges working on EIE 7.0
(pre-patch). These are 'Vendor data into CMDB'
exchange types.

After having built my *.tbl files for the flat-file
adapter and running several successful iterations of
the exchanges using "\" as a separator in my
flat-file. I'm faced with having to choose between
now using "," or "|" as separators instead.

But, these separators won't work for me. I've
compared the log files for the successful runs vs. the
non-successful runs. The only anomaly is that the ","
and "|" files are telling me the following;

"Unable to create key lists. No exchange will take
place."

Why is this? The files are the same, the Data
exchanges are the same. All that's changed is the
separators.

Just thought I'd give you something to look in to. I

During my build of Remedy 7.x ITSM 7 on HP_Ux/DB2 we

Also, we kept hitting tablespace issues with the 16k

ITSM 7, Patch 4 - Incident, Change, Problem, SLM

Hey folks,

Has anyone run patch 4 for ITSM 7 yet?

I noticed in my log files that there were some DEF

Has anyone seen this in their patching?

Re: EIE: Error while running a test exchange..

2007-07-04 Thread Troy Sasso
Hi Joe,

What are you seeing in your Debug log for EIE?

You should eventually (once it's working) see the
following in your Debug log within EIE;
*
[08:06:35,05/22/07] - StartDataHandlers: Connection
established to both AR/CMDB and vendor application.
*

1. Make sure EIE can resolve the server name, I've
seen instances where using IP address vs. server name
makes the difference.

2. Are you clicking on the 'Run Now' button on the
EIE console to kick this exchange off? If so, don't.
Just Activate the exchange on the console and then
restart the EIE server in the server. The restart
will kick off the exchange . Then, check your debug
log (/service/debug) and let me
know what it shows.

Regards,

Troy

Re: BMC ITSM 7.0

2007-06-27 Thread Troy Sasso
Review the Incident and Problem install logs for DEF
File errors. I've seen instances where the Incident
install scripts errors out on the Import of a bunch of
crutial forms.

Also, did you setup your users for access to the
Incident/Problem as Submitters and Users through the
'Application Administration Console'?

SLM 7 install w/ data collector fails on DB verification

2007-06-26 Thread Troy Sasso
Hello all,

Hope you are all doing well. I'm looking to get past
a slight road-bump with your assistance.

I'm installing SLM 7 on a Win2003 server --> SQL 2000
--> AR 7, patch 2 --> SLM 7.0

The other modules are already installed and running;
Incisdent, Problem, CHG. But, during the DB
verification of the ARAdmin username and password, I'm
seeing that the script is not recognizing the default
ARAdmin username and AR#Admin# password. It's telling
me that the DB connection has failed. But, I'm able
to verify the AR#Admin# password through the DB and
through the Admin tool.

I've already set the JBOSS and JAVA environmental
variables;
BMC_SLM_JAVA_HOME
JAVA_HOME

Has anyone seen this and had to get past it?

Thanks,

Troy Sasso

Missing reports in the ITSM 7 report console

2007-05-29 Thread Troy Sasso
Hello all,

I have an interesting one;

The Report console for the ITSM out of box reports
seems to be missing a lot of the reports that should
be available to the users on the drop-down menu of the
RRC:Reporting form.

When I track the *.rpt files down on the UNIX box I
can find 59 files. When I go into my 'Report' form as
an administrator, I can see 59 records, one
representing each report. But, when a user is within
the report console and actually tries to use the menu
to view the available reports, none of them show up.

The reports meet the standard qualification for the
drop-down menu (RRC:Report: Reports List) that is
attached to the menu on the RRC:Reporting form.

Ideas?

read over the iNote from the BMC site and figure that
the cfg and DEF files have to be kicking around
