SRM 7.6.04 Work Order Approval Process

2011-06-22 Thread Tina Flores
Hi ARS listers,

My client has a business need to have an Approval Process on the Work
Order form. I see that there's a Work Order Status = Waiting Approval as
well as a hidden Approvers tab on the forn. But there's no approval
process defined. For the approval process to work, does it only need AP
configuration or there's more to it? This is for SRM 7.6.04.

I appreciate all your inputs.

Thanks in advance,

Tina

CMBD 7.6 Installation - Third Party Requirements

2010-04-19 Thread tina flores
Hi Listers,

We are upgrading from CMBD 2.1 to CMDB 7.6, with ITSM 7.0.03, client is
currently using IBM Websphere (Midtier). I'd like to get clarification about
the third party requirements outlined in the BMC Documentation:

Tomcat 5.5 or 6.0
Microsoft IIS with ServletExec 5.0 (Client is currently using Windows 2003,
shipped with IIS 6.0)

Note: We will NOT be installing the Web Servicess feature of the CMDB.

Question:
Do we need to install Tomcat and Servlet Exec in the Application Server OR
the Midtier Server?
Is CMDB 7.6 compatible with Web Sphere? Any configuration changes to be
compatible with Web Sphere?
Can we install Tomcat Servlet Exec in the Midtier without any issues with
the Web Sphere?

Thanks,

Modify All Functionality in Asset Management

2009-11-12 Thread tina flores
Hi All,

Here's the scenario I have at work and would like to solicit your
feedback/inputs...

OOB: Only 'Asset Admin' users have the create modify permissions on the CI
Client Scenario: Made customizations so that 'Asset User' can also create
modify a particular CI that they currently have a People relationship
(Support Group)
Current Issue: When the 'Modify All' functionality is used, no security is
in place. Even 'Asset User' with read-only permissions on a CI can modify
record.
OOB: When I logged in as An Asset Viewer (as well as Asset User), and used
'Modify All' functionality, I was able to update the record that is
read-only (Save button is disabled, fields are locked out)

My questions:

1. Has anyone in the group implemented something similar to this?
2. Is this an issue I need to bring to BMC or do I just create worklows to
implement the security on Modify All?

Thanks in advance.

Re: SQL and IF Statements in AIE

2009-08-26 Thread tina flores
Hi Frank,

I have this statement:

STMT| IF $Region$ = NORTH AMERICA THEN VALUE = $State_Name$ ELSE VALUE =

But I'm having trouble verifying this exchange. I got this error:
Verify DataExchange: 'Facilities Integration'
Error on tab: '' (ARNOTE 1)

I know it refers to the particular statement because when I disable it,
verification is fine.

Am I missing something? I have spaces between the fields and the variables.

Thanks in advance for your help.

back and forth with BMC I was able to figure out the issue and felt it
was worth posting to the list.

These type of statements must contain spaces between all
 fields\variables. A statement such as:

 STMT|IF $Index0$=0 THEN VALUE=1000 ELSE VALUE=5000 ENDIF

will not work but the following will:

 STMT|IF $Index0$ = 0 THEN VALUE = 1000 ELSE VALUE = 5000 ENDIF

The same with an SQL statement:

sql|select column from table where column=$column$

 will not work but:

sql|select column from table where column = $column$

 does work.

Performance
I have a problem where I am using filter guides to loop through server-side
table fields. There are 2 loops (i.e. an inner loop nested within an outer
loop).
The outer loop on a table in Form A does a push-fields to create a record
in Form B.

I'm implementing this in 7.1. The 7.1 defect doesn't seem to apply to my
requirement but SW00259718 for v7.01 seems like a fit. Have anyone
successfully implemented an inner loop nested without an outer loop in v7.1?

Also, what does Disposition = Verified, Resolution = Fixed mean? Does this
mean it's included in a patch?

Thanks.

Re: Filter Guide Loop within a Loop

Yes, i see it's performing the push actions out of phase and for each entry
in the Relationship tab, it does a push to the 3 different People entries I
have in the AST:AssetPeople form. And the outer loop goes through each row
in the Relationship table and the inner loop does a table walk in the People
table. Only thing is the last entry in the People table gets pushed through
in the Child CIs.

Yes. I have the `! on the two filters with the Push Action...But that doesn't
seem to do the trick.

Subject: Filter Guide Loop within a Loop

 Hello Listers,

I'm working on a client requirement:
People relationship on a child CI needs to be updated when a custom
 checkbox
is filled out. I searched through previous posts and my filter and filter
guide is based on a previous post on this forum:

Filter OutsideLoopCG has a call guide action to call filter guide
 OutsideGuide.
Filter guide OutsideGuide includes filters OutsideLoopFilter1 and
 InsideLoopCG.
Filter InsideLoopCG calls filter guide InsideGuide.

From the logs, I can see that each row on the Relationships table loops
through each entry in the People table. However, only the last entry in
 the
 People table gets pushed through.

I even postfix two special characters ( `! ) on the filters within the
filter guide. But somehow only the last entry on the People table is
 pushed.
Did I missed something? Your input is highly appreciated.

 Thanks!

Control fields that shows up on OOB Reporting (Tools Reporting)

2009-06-23 Thread tina flores
Hi,

I have custom fields (Support Phone Numbers) on a table that are only
accesible to a specific Support Group. Unless you are a member of that
permission group, the fields don't show up on the table. However,
when I use the BMC Remedy OOB Reporting (This is access via Remedy User
Tools Reporting), the custom fields I am trying to hide (due to Privacy
considerations) shows up in the Report when I exported it to a .csv file!!!

Is there an easy way to display only the fields on the OOB Reporting that
the user has permissions to view? Currently, it shows ALL fields. Has anyone
been in this situation before?

Your input is highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Christianne

Thanks for your input, LJ! I was able to fix the field permissions and sure
enough, it didn't show in the report!

 to
it, then remove their permission to the fields, and they won't be able to
 pull the data at all.

How to expand BMC banner in the form header?

2009-06-08 Thread tina flores
Hi,

I added new fields on a OOB form and needed to extend the BMC Banner found
on top of the form (This is the blue banner with the BMC REMEDY IT SERVICE
MANAGEMENT - xx and the area where you can find the Help and
bmcsoftware). I tried to go Form Manage Views Form Properties
Appearance tab and tried to Save the image to disk thinking that I will be
able to modify the image but when I saved this a .bmp image, i got this
error message: No Image Conversion will take place. Save anyway? I clicked
Yes. When I accessed the file, it gave me the error: file not found.

Has anyone modified the banner before? Can you guide me on how to do this?
Is there an existing file created on install that I can modify?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Tina

Hi Doug,

Thank you for this great tip!!! (using the Horizontal Fill) I'll use this
going forward. I tried it and works like a charm. No more screen grabber and
editing for me.

Have a nice day.

Doug Blair wrote:

 Tina,

The blue banner at the top of most of the OOB forms is just a
background image of a blue bar with the BMC logo in the right corner.
Before you try a lot of image manipulation, try this:

1- Open the form in ARAdmin

2- Form Menu - Current View - Properties - Appearance.

3- In the background section, change the Horizontal field from Left to
Fill. This will stretch the image to the right, and how far is
determined by which fields are VISIBLE when the form is displayed.

4- Press OK. You'll see the difference immediately. If you don't like
 it, don't save it.

 5- Save the form

If you have added only a narrow field on the right the worst that will
happen is that the BMC logo will widen slightly.

I have done this with a few forms that I no longer care are exactly
1024x768, and it works well as long as the new view isn't a LOT wider
 than the old one.

If you want to export the image use the Save To Disk button and save
it as image.bmp or image.jpg (adding the .bmp file extension yourself.
Just type it). You can then modify the saved image in something like
Paint or the Snag-it image editor or just about any other graphics
 program.

Of course, BMC might object to distortion of their logo :-)

 Hope this helps...

Re: Installing Secondary Server in Server Group

2009-04-09 Thread tina flores
Hi,

Thank you for pointing out the KB Article. I've followed all the directions
mentioned in the KB but I couldn't get the AIE to start in Server #2.

I run this command in the directory AIE\service\bin where the Integration
Engine execute is located:
eie.exe -x AR Server name -p port number -n instance name -m

And I have this error message:

Ignoring command line parameter instance
Ignoring command line parameter 2
EIE Home Directory not specified. Service terminating (Check the registry key
entry).EIETerminate

I have exported the registry from Server #1 and imported it to Server #2,
copied the files in a similar directory structure, modified the ARServer name
eie.cfg (in Server 2), copied the following files:
addeiefields.exe, appspwd.exe, db2helper.exe, eiexfer.exe, filehelper.exe,
rlohelper.exe, rlshelper.exe and xmlhelper.exe.

Is there something I'm missing. Any input is highly appreciated.

Thanks.
Tina

To my knowledge, there is no single White Paper outlining all the
components in one document. The information is scattered about in their
KB database.

Each process component installation for Server Group can vary too. For
example, you can just run the Email Engine installer on your Secondary
Server, and then leave the Email Engine service off with a Manual
startup mode. However, when installing AIE, you should not run the
installer, but copy the directory and registry settings from your
primary server to your secondary server.

For AIE installation, check out KB article 2402 (Installed AIE7.1
with Server group Option) in the Knowledge Base on the BMC Support
website.

If you are not already, you should try to use a uniform directory
structure on both servers. This becomes especially helpful when running
certain Run Process commands.

using any server alias or group server name at this point of the install.

Thanks in advance.
Tina

Good morning,

I am beginning to set up the second server that will then be configured in a
server group.  The primary server is up and running as follows:

Windows 2003 Server
Oracle 10 DB (remote)
ARS 7.1 P6 - including email, approval, assignment, flashboards
CMDB 2.1 P4
AIE 7.1 P4
ITSM 7.0.3 P7
SLM 7.1 P1

I have successfully installed ARS 7.1 P6 (server only) on the secondary server
using the shared DB option.  This is working as well.

My next steps are the various other components:  email, approval, etc.  Sadly,
I have found very little in the way of instructions on this.  Some components
have more than others...very inconsistent.

My question is...does BMC or somebody have a comprehensive white paper or
instruction set that addresses installation of the other components like email.

Thanks,

Bruce Sisk

ARS 7.1 SQL 2005 Server install error

2009-04-03 Thread tina flores
I'm installing ARS 7.1 (Server) on SQL 2005 on Windows Environment.
Installation is completed with error:

Unable to start the AR System service. The AR System Server could not be
started. You can start it manually using the Services in the Control Panel.

Checking the DB logs, it says:

10:39:38 == Query Results ==
Command successful
sp_dropuser ARAdmin
ERROR: SQL operation failed
User 'ARAdmin' does not exist in the current database. (SQL Server 15008)
drop database ARSystem
ERROR: SQL operation failed
Cannot drop the database 'ARSystem', because it does not exist or you do not
have permission. (SQL Server 3701)
sp_droplogin ARAdmin
ERROR: SQL operation failed
'ARAdmin' is not a valid login or you do not have permission. (SQL Server
15007)

I used the SA account and a valid SA password when I installed the ARS
Server. Also tested connection in SQL with the SA password and tested
successful. I am also logged in as an Administrator to the server where AR
System is installed. I also accepted default values for the ARSystem DB Name
= ARSystem; ARSystem DB User = ARAdmin and ARSystem User Password =
AR#Admin#

I've done installation with the client's DEV environment on SQL 2000 and
didn't see this error. Client upgraded to SQL 2005 for the TEST server
installation (where I am currently installing). Have you seen this error
before? Are there any additional things to conside when doing the install in
SQL 2005 not documented in the Installation document?

Thanks for your help.

Flashboard License Clarification

2009-03-25 Thread tina flores

Hi All,

Can anyone clarify the use of the five free flashboard that comes during
install of ARS 7/ITSM 7.

Based on the BMC Documentation, it says: “If you try to view more than five
flashboards with an unlicensed BMC Remedy Flashboards product, you will receive
an error message to let you know that you have exceeded the maximum number of
flashboards allowed.”

I'm getting ARERR 3608:You have exceeded the allowed usage of Flashboards.
Please obtain a license if you wish to continue using Flashboards. after only
viewing the third flashboard and this happens when there were more than 5
concurrent users in the server. So it could be both factors but I need to get
that verified. I just observed that I don’t get the error in another
environment (I’m currently the only user) when I view the flashboards.

Can anyone clarify why this scenario happens to me?

Thank!
Tina

Re: ARERR 9200 when attempting to access a flashboard

2008-12-16 Thread tina flores
I'm faced with exactly the same issue with ARERR 9200 showing when trying to
access/view a flashboard. Has anyone found a resolution to this error?

David, if you find a fix to this issue, can you share this to the group?

Thanks in advance.

 The error guide says:
User has no access permission to name_of_object.
You attempted to perform an operation (for example, opening a form) to
which you have no permissions. Check with your administrator.

So I've done the obvious of making sure the user and flashboard object
 permissions align.

This is on a development server (ARS 7.0.1 running a customized ITSM
6.0), and I suspect I might have caused this when I removed some
seemingly unnecessary Public group permissions that ITSM 6 and prior
versions have throughout the app. It would seem there's something
obvious that I haven't checked, but I'm not catching it right now, so I
thought I'd run this by the list.

 Thanks,

Something for the weekend… for me at least.

I am installing Change Management as the first app in ITSM. Right at the

 The
install log claims that the defs from asi_deplapp.def were imported
 successfully.

I tried importing all of the defs manually and indeed – an Import
Successful message is displayed but nothing is imported. When trying to
import the app or any of the forms from this def file one by one, a
 ARERR55

Have you experienced this before and how do you get around this? I'd like
 to
import the Remedy Asset Inventory app beforehand so it would not cause the

Notification URL Link

2008-07-02 Thread tina flores
Hi,

How do you go to a specific request in RequestAPDetailSignature Form via
Midtier URL link?

When I go the specific RequestAPDetailSignature #, I have this URL:
http://localhost:8080/arsys/forms/base70/SRM%3ARequestApDetailSignature/Default+Admin+View/?cacheid=dec0463a

I would like to be able to go to a specific approval request in the
RequestAPDetailSignature Form in the midtier and specifiy the specific
request # in the email subject.

I tried
http://localhost:8080/arsys/forms/base70/SRM3ARequestApDetailSignature/Default+Admin+Vieweid=227

where 227 is the Application's Request #. I also tried to use
eid = $ Signature ID$ and eid = $Request ID$, but I ended up being in the
form with null values

This is ARS 7, Midtier (Tomcat).

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Failed to process request error when viewing crystal reports via midtier (using BO XI R3)

2008-05-09 Thread tina flores
I have chosen to use MySQL 5 as the default DB during the BO XI R3
installation. When I go checked my Services (Start Administrative Tools
Services), I see that the BOE120MySQL is Started.

However, I don't see the BOE120MySQL service when I logged in to the MySQL
Administrator, I see the following dialog box: Could not find settings:
Either the server service or the configuration file could not be found.
Startup variables and service section are therefore disabled. When I go to
the Service Control panel (of the MySQL Admin tool, the service status is
disabled (all grayed out). And on the right corner of the screen, it says in
bold red text: this section is only available when connected to the
localhost. But when I checked my Schema tables, I have boe120 and
boe120_audit and I am able to connect to the CMS without any errors.

My question is, do I need to reconfigure MySQL db? If so, how do I go about
this?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Business Objects XI R3 and Midtier 7.01: ARWebReportViewer Error

2008-04-25 Thread tina flores
Thanks for your feedback Christopher. I'm actually in the process of setting
another instance of the midtier in the BO XI server.

Now, I'm having a conflict with Tomcat. BO XI installed a tomcat under
C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55. With the Remedy Midtier, I will
be using Tomcat for the JSP engine. Do I need to let midtier install a
tomcat in C:\Program Files\ or can I re-use the tomcat (from BO XI)?

Thanks in advance.

strauss wrote:

If mid-tier is on one machine and BOXI is on another, they must have
shared file space between them on which to move the actual .rpt files
that must be served up. BMC has several documents describing how to do
this; I found it MUCH easier to simply put another instance of mid-tier
on the BOXI server and indicate that in the report settings on the
primary mid-tier. Then it actually creates the .rpt file in the
\reports directory of the mid-tier on the BOXI server, and file-level
access by BOXI is no longer an issue.
