Hi All - How can I change the out of the box default (for all users) on the number of items in their recently used list. It appears to be 4 items and I would like to increase it to 9. I know that I can modify the records in the AR System User Preference screen but how can I take care of people that don't have a record in that form? Re: Recent Searches
This is for users using the User Tool? Are they using a preference server with WUT? If not you could push out an update to the ar.ini file via your desktop management system. Re: Recent Searches
Hi Christie, Try this.the easiest way to do this would be to create a new filter On Submit of a new AR User Preference record (at execution order 999 or 1000) that sets the value of the Number of Recently Used List to '9'. This way you are not modifying the OOTB template code or data. You are creating an overlay to do what you need it to do. Hope this helps. Regards, Ryan. Re: Recent Searches
I am following you now. I had in mind Recent New/Search Forms and was thinking that is only available in WUT. Which confused me since you are using ITSM 7.6.04. Updating AR User Preference is the way to go then. In our 8.0 system a user preference record is created automatically when a person first logs in. I am not totally sure what is doing it but know is isn't a customization. Do you have 'Preference Server(s)' set in the MT config? Re: Recent Searches
I know if I play with the AR User Pref record it will use that. I don't usually build one for people but it would be nice if there was a System Default like the Application Preferences have. Yes, I have preference server setup in my MT config. Re: Recent Searches
It's all closed source. No hooks. Put a request into remedy to write an api for their clients or open the source of their clients. Think you are going to come up completely short-handed writing this on the client side. On the server side, you could draw some conclusions from the arsql.log and arapi.log files to derive user searches, though these would not be localized to only include ad-hoc qbe/form searches. Would include all types of things, like table field refreshes, etc. Axton Grams On 5/4/06, Susan Palmer [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: ** There must be something that already captures that within Remedy so it can write the info to the username_recent.srh file in the HOME folder on the PC. It is possible to see previous searches from the WIndows User Tool, under View Recent Searches. This would seem to point to the search being stored somewhere, but I am unsure on where that somewhere is. I've checked $USER$_recent.srh locally and on the server, but this does not seem to contain the last search. I've also checked the user preference form, and I see the field for the number of recent searches, but don't see a field for the actual recent searches. These are my my questions: - If it is possible to capture the search a user performed, how can it be done? (I'm hoping for a non database specific solution if possible) - Where are recent searches stored, and when are they stored there?
