Re: Still See Fields After I Deleted Them
Joe Souza gave me some instructions on how to get rid of the fields that are in the Fields Not In View and I cannot find the instructions. Even though I deleted these fields, they are still in Fields Not in View and are coming up when creating Active Links, it's really irritating! Does anyone have the instructions on how to get rid of them completely? I think I had to create a new view and all sorts of other things. Why is it so hard to delete a field off of a form? (this is a display only form as well). ARS 7.1 p7 Windows 2003 Oracle 10g Thanks! Lisa lisakemes wrote: Thanks! OK, they are in the Fields in View but they are on the Fields Not In View side. Re: Still See Fields After I Deleted Them
Lisa, If the fields are in the Fields Not In View list, then they have not been deleted. They have simply been moved out of the view. To delete a field, select the field and choose the Delete option (under the Edit menu). If a field is not in the view, you can either 1) Go to a view that has the field in view 2) Go to the Fields Not in View list and move it into the view Then, the field is there, you can select it, and select the Delete option. There will be a dialog that shows up asking if you really want to delete the field. Respond Yes to really delete the field. Then, save the form. The field will be deleted -- from the form and so from all views. The only way that the field is present in the list of fields whether in view or not in view is that it really exists and has not been deleted. That would be why you are seeing it on lists of fields -- it is really there. Some people think that just by taking a field off the view -- moving it from in view to not in view -- will delete it. Only Deleting a field will gaurantee deleting it. Now, if the field is a piece of trim, removing from all views may cause the field to be deleted because it no longer has meaning because all it is is a display. BUT, this is a side effect and may or may not happen (I don't remember whether it does or not). If you want a field deleted, select it and select the Delete operation and it will be deleted. Re: Still See Fields After I Deleted Them
Hi Doug! Thanks for responding! I must be doing something wrong then. I don't use the edit then delete but simply click on my delete button on my keyboard. I get the dialog box that asks me if I really want to delete and I select yes. But sometimes it doesn't delete it from my form, but simply puts the field in Fields not in View. Maybe I'm hitting no by mistake, saving the form and this moves it to the Fields not in View? I'm not sure, but I'm doing something wrong! I just did what you suggested and now everything is nice and clean! Thanks again! Re: Still See Fields After I Deleted Them
Was about to say the same thing.. bet they are there.. If they are not there, then there must be something wrong with your meta data.. You could try to look up the T table structures and see if they exist in the structure.. If they do not exist in the structure but yet for some reason exist in the fields table and the field_dispprop, something may have gone wrong when you were deleting these fields that didn't delete the meta data tied to the fields.. you may in that event have to do some manual cleanup..
