[AsburyPark] Re: Don't Miss Out On Broadcast Opportunity

2006-07-19 Thread vinny
Again, my point is Long Branch is NOT Asbury Park. Your Lighthouse
mission does not serve the community of Asbury Park.

How about this, advertise to the people of Long Branch.

Other people have pointed this out on the board, but I will reiterate.
Solving the problem of homelessness isn't an easy one. You have the
problem of no affordable housing and companies not paying competitive
wages.

Organizations such as Lighthouse Mission need to stop taking care of
the temporary problems and go after the real problems as mentioned
above. Yes I realize I am generalizing, if I were to go into every
detail then this reply would be a novel.

Again, advertise your services in Long Branch not on a messageboard
for Asbury Park. Asbury has its own problems to deal with.

Keady is on the affordable housing committee. Despite his stand on the shelter, he is a good man. Further, he would rather be able to make shelters obsolete.

Well that is smart, but I assume you are talking about a small

Its a shame that both speeding and traffic violations are needed to get revenue. It does put pressure on officers at certain times to charge people they KNOW didnt do anything wrong. Ive had it happen to me a few times where you could tell the officer really didnt want to give a ticket but had to because of a quota. Theyll say things like Call the station, Ill make sure you dont get any points for this on your license.

Meanwhile, they know that about 99% of the people will simply pay the ticket. And, even if the person disputes the ticket, the police seem to win about 99.5% of the arguments in Jersey Shore courts.

I wonder just how many tickets would be handed out each month if REVENUE wasnt a factor...

2006-07-19 Thread Tom
I believe I work for an area larger that Monmouth County, but do not
quote me. New York State does not require the original certificates
for the odometer, just a photocopy. For RADAR or LASER, New York
State requires just the testimony but a lawtyer can request copies
through the police department.

I would like to ask where you get your information from. Are you a
traffic court lawyer? Often, regular lawyers feel all of the rules
of regular court apply to traffic court and they are wrong. Traffic
court is an administrative court and a lot of the Law and Order
stuff does not apply. Otherwise, did you get your information from a
New Jersey police officer or Traffic Court judge? Their words I would
believe.

As for rake in the dough? Do you feel speed limits are solely for
revenue? Does that go for passing stopped school buses with flashing
red lights (which cost more $$$ and points on a license)? And do you
believe all of those studies linking cellphone use while driving are
dangerous are performed just to create revenue?

Drive safe,
Tom

HAHAHAHAHA! Sorry, but the thought that I would risk my employment,
my pension, and my honor by signing a false statement (a crime) for an
offense that I knew did not happen made me laugh.

The I¹ve had it happen to me a few times where you could tell the
officer really didn¹t want to give a ticket but had to because of a
quota line is one of two things. Either the cop uses it as a line to
diffuse the motorist's anger and make it seem like he is forced to do
this or never writes summonses which makes a boss lean on him since
it is not possible to drive around 8-12 hours a day and not see a
traffic violation.

I prefer to go to an area of high accident occurrances and strictly
enforce the traffic law between 911 calls to help curb future
accidents and it works. Oh, and I have used the line that my boss is
there so I have to issue this summons so that a motorist would stop
complaining.

Bottom line - a lying about a summons is not worth losing a career
over and there are plenty of fish in the barrel that you do not have
to write a bogus ticket.

Look, I know there are good cops and there are bad cops. When youve had police officers stop you as youre walking into the driveway of your beach house because you match the description of somebody theyre looking for and you ask them what was the description and you hear a male caucasian -- you tend to lose a little faith in the police.

Just as when youre pulled over doing the speed limit coming back from college with a car full of furniture because the cop wants to make sure theres nothing illegal about the car.

Basically, some people run into being profiled and others never see that side of things. I dont believe every cop would give a false ticket but Ill gladly swear on the Bible that Ive had one or two in my life. Or maybe that officer in the backwoods of Virginia really did follow me for seven miles because of a stop sign that I didnt stay stopped at long enough. Every vocation has a bad apple and those should be prosecuted to the
full extent of the law.

Yet, the blanket statements you made like it does put pressure on
officers at certain times to charge people they KNOW didn't do
anything wrong reflect badly upon all police officers.

Regarding all police officers in a negative light due to a couple of
negative experiences you had is just as bad as if a police officer
started treating an entire group a certain way due to a few bad
interactions with members of said group.
