For each month you lose $870 month, it's the same as getting 950/month. for 1 year. Also, most people live month to month - so they still might not be able to afford $950 month. As for summer rentals you would have to wait and see - could you get $5k maybe not yet, depends again ont he competion. You can rent the Diplomat in Long Branchin the summer on the beach in west end for $5k or less. You can also call Monmouth Country Social services and they would be able to place someone who needs to get back on their feet - they fund them for 18 months or Section 8 tenants. --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, wernerapnj [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: History is always part of the future in a holistic, functional environment. Unfortunately not in the Asbury park Zone tick, tock ...tick,tock Werner Dear Group members, Werner is surely right about history. That's why I bring up a little of the recent and not-so-recent history of the bond issues voted on and still being paid for by the taxpayers in the following long (what else?) letter that I've given to the Coaster. I've requested that they publish in their next edition: Of Heels and Healing In any town other than ours, a Little League team would be encouraged by the powers that be to continue to instill discipline and teamwork in our young people. In Asbury Park, it has become just another struggle. Do the kids in Holmdel or Colts Neck personally have to raise money to improve their ballfield and then face the prospect of eviction? That's the situation we are faced with in Asbury Park because the state monitor who has been here for five minutes promulgates an edict while hiding behind some legal sleight of hand provided to him by our highly paid law firm. How far do you think that Mr. Mark Cowell would get if he had declaimed such a dopey decree in the town he comes from? Although I am a member of the school board, I do not speak for that body. However, with the help of some folks with longer memories than I, it is easy to expose the legally questionable and gross injustice being perpetrated here. In 1996, the BOE at the time commissioned a plan to improve the fields between the High School and Deal Lake and which are adjacent to our classic 1925 stadium. A list of improvements were proposed that were estimated to cost 1.8 million dollars. That plan was the basis for the 1997 two million-dollar bond issue that was passed overwhelmingly by the voters of Asbury Park. The centerpiece of that bond issue was the refurbishing of the stadium, but there were many other upgrades contained in the bond issue covering not only those fields, but the elementary school playgrounds as well. In public statements by James Famularo, the Board president at the time, and in the official public forum called to discuss the details of the bond issue, three separate ball fields were proposed. The three were to be distinctly designated baseball, softball, and little league fields, and money was earmarked specifically for these. That agreement was memorialized in a 1998 map of the property designed by the Avakian Engineering firm. The three ballfields are clearly delineated. The Little League field is marked exactly where it is today. In 2000, the people of Asbury Park increased the amount to finish the renovations by 1.4 million dollars. What did they get for that combined 3.4 million dollars? Other than a decent stadium and running track, your guess is as good as mine. We are still paying for those bond issues. We are now being asked to refinance (legal term: re-fund them) in order to get a more favorable interest rate. It's like refinancing the mortgage on your home. But in this case, there's a big difference. The voters of Asbury Park never got what they have been paying for, including an improved Little League field. To make matters worse, the Little League is now being told by an outsider that the improvements will never be allowed where the people of Asbury voted to put them. To my mind, it's classic bait and switch. Suppose you bought a really nice house and paid a premium price for it, but after the real estate closing you found that you had really only bought a rusty old trailer. But you accepted it anyway, and poured years of sweat and hard-earned resources in trying to make it the best trailer around. It was only a trailer, but it was a home that you and your children could be proud of. You were still busy raising the funds to make it even better. Along comes a new banker in town who does not know you, your history, or your struggle to make a decent home for your extended family. The new banker makes the snap decision that you can no longer live in the home that you had restored so lovingly. Even though the real estate map clearly shows it is your property, you are told to pick up and leave. If we are asked to refinance a bond issue that made commitments that were never kept, and we also refuse to make good on those commitments a decade later, then I cannot support it. If we renew the bond issue financing, then I believe we are obligated to renew and deliver now on those legal commitments. As chairperson of the board's finance committee, I have conferred with the present school business administrator and am prepared to offer resolutions to that effect. With his help, I am in the process of reworking and rewording resolution templates he has provided me with, and hope to be

Given that I didn't and still dont live in AP, I always followed the tales of AP. The funding was probably more like $3.8m. A couple people wound up in court over hey, where'd that money go... if I recall. For some it looked like all the stadium got was a fresh coat of paint. Now in omst districts, $3.8m to repiar a stadium would seem pretty crazy vs. a set of bleachers. Regardless. AP has a great stadium. It's also a great thing that AP got a few carpetbaggers. Combined with some dedication from a few good many people the LL was able to raise quite a bit of money. For the most part, the $3.8m from 10 years ago was blown. [AsburyPark] 2006:
The builder of the Esperanza complex, Dean Geibel, president of Metro Homes, said he was satisfied that Asbury Partners had dealt fairly with him. He said that development fees and infrastructure fees, which affect the selling price of units, are commonly the subject of negotiations in such deals. He also said that he had agreed to deed over some of the commercial space in his planned buildings to Asbury Partners and that it was justified by the redevelopers' need to ''control the type of retail and tone'' of the area. ''It is the way for them to make sure that the beachfront area is what they want,'' he said. ''I was actually encouraged by the way in which they dealt with this part.'' -- A deal is a deal? Yahoo! [AsburyPark] taxes...
.Both builders are about six months behind schedule getting their first units finished and sold, which, for the city, meant Asbury Park did not get the tax revenue from the new residences that was projected for last year's budget. Reidy said the city projected $925,000 in tax payments from the condominiums in 2006. This year, he's asked City Engineer Brian Grant to follow up with each of the developers to get realistic estimates for how many units are coming on line, when they'll come on during the year, and how much they sold for. But the developers who were attracted to the beachfront by the city's master developer, Asbury Partners, said the time is now 2007 looks to be a good year, and lights will be on in new homes. And another OLD one: Alan Greenspan (former Federal Reserve chairman) put a damper on the market for a whole year, Dean Geibel, Metro Homes' president, said this week. But the big story is our market has stayed pretty good. 2007 is going to be a great year. NOTE: These are OLD stories. Yahoo! In a message dated 12/17/2007 8:22:57 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: By reregulate radio I meant that they would be requiring more local content as a part of license renewal. == That's not the issue in contention in tomorrow's vote. The issue is expansion of big media over the objections of independent media and the public. The Senate is threatening to override the vote taken tomorrow.Statement on the FCC web site by dissenting Commissioners Copps and Adelstein http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DOC-278142A1.pdf http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DOC-278142A1.pdf === NEWS Federal Communications Commission FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEWS MEDIA CONTACTS, November 13, 2007The proposal could repeal the ban in every market in America, not just the top twenty. Any city, no matter how small, could be subjected to newspaper broadcast ownership combinations under a very loose standard. Under Chairman Martin's plan, all markets will be open to one company combining broadcast properties with cable, the newspaper (already a monopoly in most places), even the Internet Service Provider. His proposal could propel a frenzy of competition-stifling mergers across the land. Consider: -The top 20 markets account for over 43% of U.S. households. Even on its face, this proposal directly affects over 120 million Americans. - The Chairman then creates a loophole that Big Media will drive a truck through, permitting a newspaper-broadcast combination in any market in the country. We have seen how loosely the Commission has granted waivers in the past. If this proposal goes through, the FCC could grant cross-ownership applications in such small towns as Meridian, Mississippi and Bend, Oregon. When big conglomerates can't get their way in a general rule, they press for loopholes that swallow the rule, and they would succeed with this approach. - The non-top four stations that major newspapers will now be competing for are precisely the stations more likely to be owned by small, independent broadcasters. All designed to make sure that the Chairman can deliver a generous gift to Big Media before the holidays. For the rest of us: a lump of coal. \ == Chairman Martie, You're doing a heck of a job.
[AsburyPark] Calling off the dogs? A deathbed conversion? Reason prevailing?
Hi Group Members, Is the sound I hear perhaps that of the ice breaking in the Little League controversy? For the sake of all concerned, I hope the indications from tonight's informal meeting between the state monitor and Danny McKee, the Little League parents, with BOE member G. Giberson present that reason may be rearing its lovely head are true. Speaking only for myself, maybe we can go back soon to trying to tackle some of the myriads of real problems in this school district. Frank D. Yahoo! The builder said on Nov. 6 that 40 percent of its customers canceled contracts to buy homes in the fourth quarter as stricter lending standards made it tougher to obtain mortgages. The cancellation rate compared with 35 percent for the fourth quarter of 2006. The company delivered 3,969 homes in the three months ended Oct. 31, down 19 percent from a year ago, and net contracts fell 10 percent. Hovnanian said last month that sales seriously deteriorated'' in October and blamed tighter home-loan underwriting. Today, he said sales are improving. how about adding $10 or 10% (not less then $10) to every court appearance for a given list of charges - like drugs, robbery or other violation? That money could be put into a recreation fund. Yahoo! [AsburyPark] Not a fan, I guess...
Mr. Pivinski's letter to the Coaster Ellen,, I have just received a copy of a letter, Of Heels and Healing, Frank D'Alessandro requested you publish. It surprises me that you continue to promote his negativity in the press. Freedom of speech entails responsibility and it is difficult to scour even a semblance of that in his diatribes posing as letters of concern. I find the facts he presents too skewed by nasty overtones with blame being flung everywhere. Perhaps if the facts were given factually and without the overdramatic flair of a bad actor, they would garner more legitimate attention. And as for healing, all I read was about a heel that prefers crushing to promoting cooperation. It is no small wonder why our School District is in disarray. It will be a great day when persons whose agendas are the richness and well being of the children become the Board members. Until then, we can only hope and pray that the pain of banging one's head against the stone wall will hurt enough to consider stopping the masochistic behavior. Tom My flippant response: Thank God for freedom of speech and the press! Tom's right about my acting ability. It stinks. As far as overdramatic, what do you expect? I'm a Scorpio and of Sicilian descent--that's a double whammy! Surely Luigi Pirandello would understand, even if Tom doesn't. Frank Yahoo!
