[AsburyPark] 7.8 Gallons!?!?!
I can see a reprimand. Perhaps a suspension. Firing him would be too drastic. Criminal prosecution? A complete waste of my tax dollars. What do you folks think? Suspended Monmouth official indicted on charges of stealing gasoline By Bob Jordan FREEHOLD BUREAU February 13, 2008 Monmouth County's suspended emergency management coordinator has been indicted by a state grand jury on two counts of official misconduct and one count of tampering with public records -- all third-degree crimes -- for putting approximately 7.8 gallons of gas from the county motor pool into a privately owned vehicle. Harry J. Conover Jr., a county employee since approximately 1988, could face 3 to 5 years of jail time if convicted on any of the counts, though probationary terms are common for first-time offenders. Conover has been suspended by the county without pay since shortly after being charged by Monmouth County authorities in March 2007. County Prosecutor Luis A. Valentin said at the time that on March 13, 2007, Conover went to the county Central Motor Pool on Center Street in Freehold Township with the privately owned vehicle of another county employee. Conover obtained approximately 7.8 gallons of gasoline for the vehicle and completed a gasoline inventory form on which he falsely represented that the gasoline had been placed in his own assigned county vehicle, according to Valentin. The matter was presented to the state grand jury Jan. 24 by Matthew Murphy, acting as a deputy state Attorney General. Murphy is a Somerset County assistant prosecutor. The proceedings were taken outside Monmouth County because Conover is under Valentin in Monmouth's table of command. Conover's attorney is Alton D. Kenney. The indictment notice, filed Jan. 31, said the privately owned vehicle was a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu and that the gasoline "had a value of less than $200.'' Yahoo! [AsburyPark] Please Read: Occasional Dog Walkers Needed (Badly)
hi folks- more from the town's token crazy dog person long story short: i can't walk dogs every day and, if i don't, some don't get out of their cages. not once, all day and night. this is not a sad or upsetting thing to do! it's actually fun and it can be very rewarding. i had three dogs i've been working with adopted in the last 3 weeks. that's a great thing. the only bad thing is when they don't get any exercise or interaction in a whole day. THAT'S sad. you don't have to commit to anything steady. if just a few extra people do it every now and then, there wouldn't be a problem--they'd all be walked! please think about this, and tell anyone else you think might be interested. just a 1/2 hour walk every now and then would make a huge difference. thank you! chris mccarthy **The year's hottest artists on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards. [AsburyPark] Re: Emergency Management...
Mario, It is exactly what you said. After Katrina the insurance companies are taking another look at where they have higher risk and repricing. I was told i would have to put storm shutters on my house (metal) if i wanted to keep my policy. Effectively they cancelled me so i had to switch carriers for a significantly higher premium. Depending on where you live relative to the ocean it makes sense to go with an insurer who knows the area and writes many policies in the area because they know the locale as opposed to just using mileage factors and assuming you are a flood risk. [AsburyPark] Emergency Management...
In a message dated 2/13/2008 10:03:35 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: predictions coming from all over the world are saying that places like NYC and the Jersey shore are likely to experience flooding like never before. I hope this isn't the case...but what if it is? I never took the flood threat to Asbury Park too seriously until recently. Friends living near Monmouth U. had their homeowner's insurance canceled because, they said, of a new restriction excluding homes near the ocean. Then, because I was so pleased with the way Allstate handled my auto claim, I told my agent I wanted to switch my home insurance to them. She said she couldn't issue a policy and that I was lucky that my current policy was not canceled because insurance companies, since Katrina, won't insure homes closer than two miles to the coast. Not sure now if all companies will follow suit or if some are willing to "grandfather." Also not sure if insurance companies are just looking for an excuse to cancel some policies, or if they have some reliable probability studies about coastal living. Maybe Thoreau's observation is on the mark: "Men say that a stitch in time saves nine, and so they take a thousand stitches today to save nine tomorrow." _http://tinyurl.com/ype3hv_ (http://tinyurl.com/ype3hv) **The year's hottest artists on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards. "Oh, one more thing. The traffic on Ocean Ave is really having a hard time realizing that there is only 1 lane headed north. Many people look at the parking buffer lane as an actual lane to drive on. I saw it happen many times this weekend. I think it's a matter of time until somebody backs out directly into an oncoming car." I think this group talked a lot about this last summer. I agree, i still see cars driving in the buffer zone. Didn't i read somewhere that MM would be re linning Ocean ave sometime in the near future? I don't remember where i read it, maybe it was on here. Pretty sure it's true tho. MM did talk about options for ocean ave. I wouldn't count on it being turned back into one way traffic, but i think they will change, or just eliminate that one buffer white line. - Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.

Maureen, The AP Press story doesn't even mention Conover; just the other fellow. Any idea why? http://www.app.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080212/NEWS/80212073 Yahoo! There's another issue that is being completely ignored. The potential effects of global warming over the next 20 years. I don't want to start a debate of the cause of global warming. Facts are showing that our planet is warming quicker then normal, and predictions coming from all over the world are saying that places like NYC and the Jersey shore are likely to experience flooding like never before. I hope this isn't the case...but what if it is? --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, "sharon_b283" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Well, now, THAT was interesting! Well, now, THAT was interesting! Denise, please keep us in the loop and I wish you luck, in what you are trying to do. Between you, Tommy and Maureen, it looks like we're "sitting ducks", just like New Orleans! A disaster waiting to happen! 6 months after Katrina, a heavy rainstorm flooded Interlaken and Allenhurst, across the bridges from us. I saw an old lady, being rescued from her "tony", home, on thier side of the bridge, by canoe! A mini Katrina, but i'll bet they stopped talking about New Orleans residents, who stayed behind. N.O., didn't get hit by the hurricane. The explosion of the levees, with 80%, of the city being flooded, from at least 6 breaks in Levees, controlled by the Corp of Engineers. From 1965, they were asked/begged, to maintain the levees. Nationwide, the levees are breaking and a do-nothing federal government, with no oversight. Lucky for us, she did! I couldn't find those stories either! We are fortunate to have her around and she's the best NewsHound, in Asbury Park, as far as I'm concerned! She is now the Voice for the Voiceless! We should really feel Blessed, for having her as a reliable source! She keeps City Hall on their toes and all I can say is, way to go, Maureen! Nancy Shields Reports for the Press, but Maureen delivers the word! Say what you will, but I take Werner serious, also, for the valuable information he gives and how City Hall flaunts the rules, of how Bradley wanted this city to look and be run. Historical Society? Cute window dressing, that is useless, as far as I'm concerned. Maureen, you get 2 thumbs up! JR, you have no idea how valuable you really are, when you too, step up to the plate! You don't know how much I appreciate the wonderful things you do, even though, we don't agree politically! When you jab at others in the group, I wonder about you, but underneath all that, is your Mom's baby, Tommy! You want to be seen as tough and you are! I've been knocked to the floor a few times by you, but I've gotten up and thrown some jabs of my own back! You get 100 "AttaBoys", for defending Werner! --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, "justifiedright" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > I can't find this story on any news site (beside's Mo's). > > She seems to have scooped them all! > Yahoo! [AsburyPark] Re:Asbury Glory Days
Maureen: I agree with both of your informative posts, but where was the public, when this "deal", was made and is what die the council do, behind the public's back, (us), a criminal act, punishable by law? Can you tell us when the 1st deal with Asbury Partners made? Was it closed by Weldon and the office crew or sanctioned by the council? Who is at fault here? If you don't have the ansers, can someone else re-tell us the so-called "redevelopment"? All I remember is Carabetta, being negotiated with, through the bankruptcy, he filed and certain negotiations had to be met, to allow As. Partners, to become the developer. Does anyone remember the payoff and what did the City get, in return for selling off its' assets? I know Werner, can do the timeline. Is the old Master Plan, still in effect or has that changed also? Are copies available, or does one have to pay for a copy? Seems as though, if you're NOT an "insider"/"player", you don't matter and you certainly don't COUNT! Then the Council/Administrators, have all kinds of excuses for their methods of doing business. It looks as though they are sold a bill of goods and get nothing, in return? Who runs City Hall? I think it's a fair question. Replying to Maureen, but anyone with info, should tell this group, what the real skinny is! --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, "radio881gal" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > People have to make money. I was talking about direct routes out. Third still forces you to turn on Asbury Avenue. Monroe and Sewell terminate before 35, if I'm thinking correctly. Heck goes to 35, but you can't get there from the East side. Evacuation of the East Side is what we were talking about when I made the post. --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, "apoojo" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, "justifiedright" > wrote: > > > > A very nice person emailed me and reminded me that there are 3 ways > > out of Asbury going west.
