We will be having pizza for you at The Wonder Bar starting this Wednesday
night!!!
I was telling my security, Freddy Capalogna, that I wish we could have pizza
since everyone has been writing about it and he told me he used to be the pizza
man at his dad's Italian Restaurant! I immediately shifted his post to the
kitchen with Faustino and got the dough rolling!
We tried it last weekend and it came out very good. Stop down and let us know
what you think.

I honestly don't think it's about making money, it's more about adding a cool
and
attractive thing to the beach/boardwalk. If you go to most of the coffeeshops
on
Cookman, they have free WIFI. I could see a benefit from having it at the

Blackberry people and anybody who uses WIFI would love it.

Several spots in NYC offer free wireless - most notably Bryant Park
(http://www.bryantpark.org/amenities/wireless.php) and several places
in Central
Park(http://www.centralpark.com/pages/general-info/wireless-access-in-central-park.html).

It really is a draw - LOTS of people with laptops both working and
just surfing - now with iPhones, even more useful. I use both regularly

In the scope of things it is not that costly to implement - especially
considering the value delivered.

I'm really surprised that nobody commented on this. We could
  really benefit by being
   tech

 us,
  because it could be
advertised as a benefit to our parking and beach fees. No other

Jack you are correct - this would be a good draw. I wouldn't mind
surfing the net while getting a tan. We go to the beach for sometimes
12 hours straight. I get bored of swimming and would certainly go to

I didn't understand the comment about money. The whole idea of a WiFi

Since we are just talking about maybe two blocks wide, by the length of

Cablevision or Verizon do this for the publicity, let them put up some
signs saying Free WiFi Provided by They could also do a better job

Now, does anyone know someone at any of those companies?

I tried to get traction with this idea twice before. Once about one
and a half years ago throgh the UEZ coordinator. My idea then was to
coordinate with the Board of Education, the UEZ, the Chamber of
Commerce, and Asbury Partners to fund a WiFI for the City as a whole.
One, it would give school kids a free link to the outside world, and
two, it would have provided a great publicity link to both the
downtown and the boardwalk areas. Nothing was done.
Lastly, I talked to Gary Motolla about one year ago about this idea,
and he did not show any interest indicating problems with the
technology.

Wildwood still has them... They say, Watch the tram car, please!
Always fun to hear and watch. They have their own lane. About the
size of that useless extra lane on ocean ave. The tram wouldnt have to
run ON the boardwalk, just near it... bump those angled parking lanes
out 8 feet and move that lane all the way to the east of ocean ave, and
there is your tram car lane.

The simpliest approach would be thorugh a couple wireless router
around a couple of the buildings.aka America's cup or your
neighbors internet.

Get Cablevision or someone else to sponsor it or provide it but make
people pay a nominal fee - or make it free with a seasonal beach pass.

Better yet, make it wi-fi free no connection to the outside world.
You're on the beach with your kids, boy or girlfriend etc etc - or
you're by yourself and want it that wayI dropped my phone in some
water on Saturday. Just got a new one tonight.

I made it up to N Jersey and back today since 6 am - no phone, my
ezpass on my car is broken and I used a pay phone twice. It cost $1.55
to call from Ft. Lee to Asbury. So I played cheap and only made 2 calls.

A real peaceful day and I know my mailbox is full.

If need it that bad - get a vz card for your pc or subscribe your
phone to a service

But it would be nice - once in a while

The assessment of commercial property in AP is generally lower than it
is (relatively) for residences. That needs to be revisited. There is
also the issue of the taxation of MM's property on the BW, but that
will also have a long-term tax abatement. AP needs to develop more
commercial uses. It needs to collect sales taxes and most of all, dead
wood needs to be cut from city payrolls.

I heard a rumor that we will have a similar deficit next year and that
the state is not going to pony up the whole thing again. We might be
several millions of dollars short. Couple that with a revaluation and
you can see where residential real estate taxes are heading. The new
condos, despite having abatements, are getting clobbered by taxes.

Think it's about 1.2% of sale pricethen add in the maint fee and a
mortgage. Then you look at rent vs. buy.

Imagine if the state cuts more school funding...so that landowners pay
the freight - like the rest of NJ
