Allan, Certainly you can have your opinion, but what is it worth, what is it
based upon? A
personal like or dislike of something is irrelevent in the context of a
discussion of
redevelopment.

For example, while you may 'like' the design of Wesley Grove it, in fact,
violates the very
plan that was adopted and promised to the public. The block face of Cookman was
supposd to display at least 2 different architectural styles. There were to be
pedestrian
and view corridors through the block to Wesley Lake. The architcture and
monotony of the
townhouse side is an insult to the existing National Historic District.

When weighed against the anticipated development 'sold' to the public, Wesley
Grove is a
failure and not in the best interests of Asbury Park. That is the conclusion
one would find
if knowledgable of the facts. Regarding the pace of construction, it is
extremely slow.

Hey Werner. No worries. I really do respect your knowledge and value
the historical perspective you bring to this board. My comment was not
directed toward your knowledge of the past history of this city but an
at-times apparent unwillingness to accept others points of view about
the future of it that comes off in writing a bit condesending.
Preserving the proud history of Asbury Park is important and should be

Kind of hard to miss a final jeapordy question. M grandmother would be proud.

Maybe the Google boys will just buy everyone out of AP.

Thank you, It is difficult to to remain level when so many errors in
redevelopment are
made that could have been avoided. Unfortunately, redevelopment is not about
opinions
or points of view, it is about repairing a damaged community and doing what is
in the best
interests of the public. Historical perspective just helps make better
decissions by avoiding
past failures and embracing past successes.

Preserving the proud history of Asbury Park is important and should be

'Grossly neglected' is an understatement. Yes, history is not everything.
However,
economics, public rights, community character, etc are all related to the local
history and
in the case of AP that history and economic potential is much more significant
than other
redevelopment areas.

The lens to use is - What is the best thing to do, that will benefit the most,
with the least
effort, while preserving what is significant. When measured against those goals
the current
path is seriously flawed.

i think work had stopped, beasue they were awaiting materials. all the owrk thats being done now, is with concrete facades and bricks. its possiable thats what they were waiting on. it seemed like before they stopped, they were all set up.

It will be 2 way traffic with no parking.

hall looked just like it does on the drawings. a few months ago, it looked like it was headed towards a cheap 45 degree werid angled curve (i posted a few months ago about this, thats teh reason why i mentioned it again!) dont look too deeply at things i said. you might be looking too hard! and over looking the simple concept i was making! ha! and YES, it appears the wesely grove units look very, VERY much the same. i like the fronts on cookman ave though. they do look good, with the stone/concrete facades. the "backs" (ha!) do look out of place though. maybe when the trees and plants go in, things will blend together more (being realistic, and partial sarcastic!) charlie
