@Madzab, Nice testing. now perhaps you understand the problem of playing conventional ascii style roguelikes with a screen reader. For the record, Espeak is a synth, not the program itself, and people may well use better synths, indeed even the microsoft ones tend to sound better than Espeak and that is assuming people dont have a more high quality commercial synthto use. Of course, commercial screen readers come with commercial quality synths too, though the ascii issue remains no matter what voice you use. There are no actual symbols that are bad for screen readers generally, but if you can cut down any ascii or excessive punctuation, eg, lines of = signs that would help, though conventional punctuation in proes is no problem.More features sound great, I particularly like the idea of fixing the keys issue as well as having more interesting things in the cave. As I said above, some other infor

Strategy, efficiency: these will aid you in your quest.Its important to build your population and defenses and supplies in a relatively balanced manner; go too fast on one, and the others will be too weak and you wont be able to fight off the enemies / build defenses / avoid starvation.In the later missions, I focus on getting meat and vegetables, and a hospital (and all the necessities for cloth, to heal injuries), and otherwise focus on building my population and adding walls until Im strong enough to expand my economy. Its probably better to aim for a barracks before sustaining bread production (But your mileage may vary), and rangers are the cheapest type of specialized military unit to produce. Diversifying your army is a very good idea; its just a lot of work to get Pikemen and Cavalry (and to a lesser extent knights).I suspect that, where youre going wrong is trying to fill out all the jobs early on. To speed things up
 , you should focus on the essentials, and only start adding some of the others (like bartender, cooper, etc) after youve built up enough of a settlement to support them. (In fact, people eventually started avoiding bread and wine so much that Aprone had to add bonuses to them. Wine makes people work a little faster, for example, so you might consider having a bartender until your starting wine runs out, if the gains outweigh the loss of someone who could be out building or hunting. Do not keep a bartender when you have no wine, though!)You also need a decent number of peasants and builders, pretty much at all times. Some jobs default to peasant when they arent busy (weaver, baker and builder, I think), but youll probably want a couple dedicated peasants for when the auxiliary peasants are busy weaving/baking/building. Without peasants, supplies dont get to where they need to go. If you have a lot going on at once, youll need a lot of peasants to

Hi,So I felt the need for some kirkerkrupe, so reinstalled glulx and the add-on for it so that NVDA would speek the text coming through.Ive hit an issue though.while I can review through the text fine with the numpad, especially now Ive disabled panels, Whenever I hit enter after performing an action it starts reading the text from way, way back.for instance, itll read from the introduction text for a while, then move on to the first room.I know I can just review the text, but its quite annoying having to constantly scroll down to the bottom because its reading me information from the beginning of the game.Any help would be appreciated.Im sure I never had this issue before, and in the help menu, it reads that just fine.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=166446#p166446

@gilevi Im kind of bummed. I installed your game and nothing seems to be output to the screen. I think this has to do with how things write to the screen. Im going to continue to look into this because it may effect games like Eamon working i.e. If basic doesnt send things to the screen properly, we may not get output via telnet. Sorry . You game was written well, but doesnt allow for output that can be captured by the bbs.To others, Ive installed several in game modules to LORD. Go to (o)ther places and explore around This basically adds more functions and places to visit in Lord. You can die or have your character impacted in negative ways as bad things can happen to you as you stray from the main path, but good things can happen as well.Also, I installed Clans, and Interbbs Game.BRE has b
 een reset and will start on 25 February. Therea re multiple leagues to choose from, start from league 000, and move forward if you would like to play them. If we dont use some of the other leagues, well leave them, but league 000 is the one most used by others.Ive also fixed some issues with the bbs crashing unexpectedly. Before, if the bbs service crashed, it would stay crashed. NOw, the computer will poll occasionally to make sure that its running. Dark, you are absolutely right. The arcades as we knew them in the 80s and 90s went the way of the dinosaurs. While I miss them I also realize the reasons why we no longer see video arcades these days, and why most game companies no longer make video game cabinets.One of the major reasons comes down to economics. It is no longer profitable to make arcade machines, and to startup a video game arcade. The economics of the video game industry was a lot different back in the golden years of video game arcades.Back in the early 80s I recall it was a quarter, 25 cents, per game. I could just walk into any arcade and play Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Asteroids, etc and it was only 25 cents per game. However, between the early 80s and mid 90s the price of arcade games steadily rose from 25 cents to a dollar per turn. So if my parents gave me a dollar to play games instead of four games for a dollar I got one game and one turn with nothing left over 
 to play anything else. I am certain I was not alone in that situation, and the price of arcade games undoubtedly contributed to their down fall.At the same time the cost of arcade games were rising there was a huge explosion in the home console market. It started out with the Atari 2600, followed by the Atari 5200, and eventually the 78000. In addition to Atari there was the IntelliVision, the ColecoVision, and of course the original Nintendo Entertainment System. By the mid 80s most people my age had at least one or two consoles and that really sealed the doom of arcades. Why walk or ride your bike to an arcade with a pocket full of quarters when you could stay home and play game x all day for less?Of course, arcades hung on for a while and that was mainly due to the fact that the home consoles werent as good as the arcade machines. The arcade machines generally had better graphics, possibly extra levels, etc which made purests go there and play. Plu

That was the beginning of the end for arcades because now days you can pick any console XBox, Play Station, Wii and they are superior to anything we had in the arcade 20 years ago, and they just keep getting better.The final nail in the arcades coffin is online game play. By the mid 90s most PC games had some sort of online game play,and eventually the major consoles had online play as well. A lot of mainstream gamers now consider online play to be more enjoyable than stand alone play, and as a re

Hello, my name is Aaron Baker.I am an ogar who was thrown into this horific dungion just becaause of something I did under the influence.At any rate, I just approached the second floor of the dungeon, with my faithful pet by my side.Before reaching the stairs, I increased in level and became more than just a fighter, I also became a shaman.This brings us to the tragity. I was attacked on the second floor by a few enemies, I have forgotten their names.I was polimorphed into a rat! No!I thought, hey, lets outsmart this guy and use animal form to practically make his spell moot.Well, I did and shortly there after, I supposedly morphed back into an ogar, while still being my bear form.However, when my bear transformation wore off, I was still a rat!And it never wore off.Thats how I became a rat.Maybe theyll let me back into society with my new identity. I miss arcades as well. I miss playing all the mortal kombat games especially. That was how i got in to the series as a whole, and i have some great memories of playing those games at various arcades in my state. I also miss old tech. I remember my first computer, an old compaq desktop with windows 98 SE. That machine lasted several years, eventually getting an XP update, and trucking right along until the motherboard died. I have recently got in to buying older machines, and upgrading them, so they perform almost like new. I really can appreciate how far tech has come. I remember in the 90s how owning a computer was a big deal, almost like a status statement. I can even remember the dos days, and the games i played as a young kid on those systems. [[wow]], I think I might be one of the few people who *doesnt* miss old technology. I remember all the crashes, how hard it was to use, the cost, and Im so glad we have new stuff that works so much better. I used to kind of miss my Apple2 and all the games I had for it, but now thanks to Jaybird, we have accessible emulation, and I dont miss it at all, anymore. Not even a little bit. Emulation is faster, quieter (no more of that grunta grunta sound), more reliable, portable, and IMHO better in every way. No, what I miss the most, is the days when radio used to be cool. Commercial radio to some extent, but I wasnt born when the coolness of that started to decline, locally owned and operated radio stations were all taken over by national or international syndicates, dramas went off the air, and good DJs became a thing of the past. What Im thinking of are things like ham radio. When I first got my license, cell phones
  werent nearly popular, and having a radio that you could use to talk to someone thousands of miles away was the coolest thing ever! Today, if I want to talk to a friend in Europe, I open team talk, or skype, or use my international long distance plan on my phone. They work better, and the sound is clearer and more reliable, thats true. But strangely enough, its much harder to find a community of good, smart, friendly people to talk to. It took a lot of hard work and study to get a ham license, so most people never bothered. But any idiot can use voice chat, and today, every idiot does. Back when it was hard to get on the Internet, the online communities were also much higher quality, for similar reasons. If you look at the various stories in the different gospels, sometimes 1 gospel has Jesus seeming to be initiating the healing, and in other gospels it clearly shows that he was asked. Also, sometimes the entire stories arent given, with the gospels stating only that Jesus healed many people at so-and-so place, not saying if he did it because he was asked or not. So all I can really say is that in all of the detailed stories of Jesus healing people, IE those that are more than 1 or 2 verses, he is always asked, either by the person in question, or by someone on behalf of that person (a father, for example). Well Tom your likely correct about arcade game decline, however it is rather sad, since it was much more fun going somewhere else, looking out for the latest game and occasionally even making friends as you watched someon else play or teamed up with them rather than just sitting at your computer. It was the same with consoles, I think my brother and I mustve played sf2 turbo for about 12 hours solid on the Christmas and boxing day when we first got our snes (in I believe 1994), both in terms of playing each other and then me watching my brother and learning techniques from what he did. It was the same with my friends as well, particularly with games like the super bomberman series that could be played three or four players, or even earlier when we had our old Amiga computer, playing games like moonstone or rampage together. This does still exist, but you have to find specific people to do it, and of curse since most mainstream
 ; console games are pretty unplayable to me these days I dont get to do it either, indeed that is something else I miss about the old days, since now when my friends at rp discuss computer games they arent games I know about or are able to participate in, but back in the snes games I could freely discuss all the details of streetfighter, mortal combat, metroid or donkey kong quite abley. @Fastfinge, I agree on missing the function of old tech, though i confess I never did the ham radio thing, indeed since up until I got to university the most fun id had with my laptop was using ms word for writing character sheets for tabeletop games, I never got the dos experience at all much less apple Ii, one reason Im so pleased to play games like Eamon deluxe or trade wars now, since to me they are entirely new.All that being said, in fairness its not all a downwards slide. I remember for example being extremely irritated in the 90s 
 that there was no access to fighting fantasy style gamebooks at all, and even attempting to brow beat the rnib into producing them. I know my findings are a lot to read-lol-, but I explained in my paragraph that all the money in the world, cannot purchase the food storage he has at the level we are at, unless those storage buildings are made available to a player at that level. That player has food storage buildings at level 40, that most of us do not have access to until level 50. So he/she can store up a ton more food for many more battles, thus pulling far ahead of anyone else without having to spen a dime on esper thus extra food for battles. Hope that makes sense now. Hi:I just looked at this today. Its a nice idea, that I really like, but will probably never actually use. When I want to talk to someone, I tend to use Skype or something. Otherwise, Id rather have my screen reader reading the message, because it talks faster than people do, its easier to skip, etc. And if I really do need audio, I can put a link to something like audioboo. But I love the interface! It feels a lot like a usenet client, and is much nicer than a web based forum. I wish I could get all the forums I already use in that app! LOL. I could see the audio part being useful for people who are learning another language, or for musical discussions, or something. So I like the idea of an audio based forum. God there is tons of stuff that died that I miss. Heres one. Rock band. The memorable parties I had with that game. Every week the DLC would come out, and every week me and my friends would pretty much buy it all, get together and play it. Many a good night was had. You can not play online on the beta, and any achievements or badges you collect with it dont save over to the main copy. I gave up on TWPE because the support for audio devices is very limited (most USB stuff simply wont work, EG). Sure, its a nice thought, and if it works for you, great, but Id prefer something more … mainstream, that is actually guaranteed to work. Even if you have to destroy the contents of the disks to use it, its still better to get a guaranteed success with a script you know that works than be frustrated because some hardware isnt detected by the PE. I would also have donated, if Paypal was supported. a while ago, I tried to donate to an other Kickstarter project, which forced me to create an Amazon account for whatever weird reason. i created my account, and got stuck for a reason I dont remember. You have to gain access to a military base of a faction, eather one of your allies or the one of your faction! An other way isto battle an enemy and, if you are victorious, you will see a Rearm button. If its disabled, then you simply cant rearm your ship because there arent ammoes or torpedoes in the defeeted ship. Hope it can help.
