Dark, did you try those two test files I linked to in my last post? Hyperlinks do work in Windows Glulxe and Windows Git, but they might be an unwanted distraction. If it's easier and better to just use the numbered menu then I'll make Kerkerkruip disable the hyperlinks in screen reader mode in the next version.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172103#p172103

Okay Dan, I just gave the hyperlinks a quick test. They're  actually really helpful sinse as I said above I can just click on each of them with  Supernova's virtual curser, which is actually slightly quicker even than using the numbers. There were also no  alterations to the actual reading of the menus either which was good. so, if you want to make the hyperlinks part of the screen reader setting you'll get no complaints from me.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172104#p172104

Because my window-eyes is office version, I wanna use nvda to play audio games. Is there any way that I can prevent my window-eyes to start automatically and use nvda instead?Sorry for my bad english. Re: Time of conflict 2.0 major upgrade!

After a couple of hours I was able to get used to the game, but was rather addicted to the last one as a stress reliever and  a quick break from studying so it may be easier for me to get used to the keystrokes and such. One of the most useful keys for me is f3 as it lets you do a search for what you are looking for, so I would name enemy citties and use that to find them in order to send my troups that way. But a problem is that the AI seems to be bad at occupying cities, especially in the medieval version. Each one tends to generally only have one or two that I can find, while I have 10 or more. Otherwise things are pretty smooth, I just hope someone decides to come online sometime for a game or two.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172109#p172109

2014-04-15 Thread AudioGames.net Forum — New releases room: welshweyr

Re: Swamp, zombie fps by Aprone

The only problem with taking out all the skills is, what's the point of levelling? The reason Shadowrunner is only level 400, when all you guys who started levelling with me are like 200 levels further on is that there was no point in levelling past the magic 228 in version 2.8 because there was nothing to spend points on. I actually think that all that is needed to balance the game is to increase the armour percentages by maybe 10% for each category, make weapon skill points do twice as much of an increase (so it takes half the points it currently does to get them to the same level), and maybe slightly reduce zombie scaling. I think they currently scale at 0.25% for each character level above 10, right? If that was dropped to just 0.20% per level then it will be a whole 100 more levels before zombie strength reaches 100% of what it started so you get more time to catch up and therefore more flexibility in your points. I do agree that we should have more different skills, lik
e the old chainsaw blocking or the one we suggested for increasing weapon capacity. We could maybe have a jumping skill so you can effectively leap over different barricades based on the points. Imagine if you could cross the package rollers in warehouses, or maybe even leap sandbags, parked cars or the tables in the vareous eating areas? This would, of course, not permit you to actually walk through walls, only jump over the things you can shoot/see over in the first place. That got a bit off track there. The point I was trying to make is that we can keep this system but just balance it by playing with the numbers. I do agree that some weapons should be better than others, based on your skill points, because those are the ones your character has trained with. If the zombie strength, or the basic weapon strengths, were scaled up/down respectively, grabbing a random submachine gun could still be more effective than it is now witout you having to recode the whole game.Hav
ing a usage-based skill system would be all well and good but you may as well then just take out levels completely and let all skills increase over time. You culd gain points in sneaking or elusive by using bunny slippers or another type of armour. You could gain in big kit or recovery just by using your field kit. You could gain in health just from taking damage and becoming used to pain. I just don't think you can make a game wwth no level cap split between usage aandpoint skills without one system overshadowing the other.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172114#p172114

Re: can a blind person drive a car?

Well yes and no. It is quite possible for a blind  person to handle the sterring wheel, accellerator, break and all other controls without a problem, however there is no way of actually knowing what is around you or where your steering the thing, and sinse the potential exists for really nasty accidents with a car which could injure yourself or others and likely bust the car too, it would be an incredibly bad idea to try accept under very controlled conditions.  I have done this myself, driving with a driving instructor which was certainly an interesting experience. In Britain at least there is a major visual element to driving tests, so you could potentially get a really massive fine or even a jail sentance if you tried driving on a public road even with a sighted guide. so, yes a blind person can drive a car, but no probably not legally or safely.Of course as Cae jones has said, we are likely to see self driving cars at some point in the futu
re (at least when all the stupid legal hassles are worked out and the things go into actual production), though even there it would be an automated computer system doing the driving not a blind  driver.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172136#p172136

that sort of institutionalized living for blind people does sound a little scary really, rather too much like an extention of specialized schools, especially if you don't actually take care of things like cooking yourself. Generally in Britain there are three specific sorts of accommodation where disabled people are concerned. There are flats that some counsels have and give to disabled  or eldily residents as a priority. These are perfectly ordinary flats, but due to say proximity to the city the counsel will considder them first for people with mobility  issues. Funnily enough I live in one of these, which is a lot better than say being on some housing estate or in a counsel house miles from anywhere, however of the four flats in my building only one resident is actually eldily, and none accept me have a disability, indeed my now very nice downstairs neighbor is in her late 40's, and there is no actual institutionalized practice such as co
mmunal meals or what not. Some flats can have a hook up secure call button to the counsel's care system, say if someone was liable to illness or having an accident, but mine doesn't.There are then what are called assisted living complexes for eldily people. The best way to describe this is almost like halls of residents for the eldily, so people have their own rooms with  communal kitchins and laundry areas, and there are general staff who do cleaning, however people are pretty free to come and go and socialize as needed.I've never heard of something like this for disabled people though. There are then of course full on old folks homes where people actually get constant care as needed. While there are some of these for people with really severe learning disabilities, I've never heard of anything for disabled people who have normal living skills, then again sinse I always wanted to live on my own anyway I never really looked into th
ings more.As I said, I can see the logic of some sort of shelted accommodation for people who can't take care of themselves, but I don't see how it'd be helpful if your blind, indeed it sounds like it would just magnify all the major problems that specialist schools create.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172096#p172096

Re: Time of conflict 2.0 major upgrade!

Hi.So, I got tired of reading the manual, and de sighted to start the game and give it a try.As soon as I started a new game, I got stuck, like I didn't know what to do. I was just very confused, and didn't seemed to have any choices. This is one of the very few times I have tried this, giving up on reading the manual and then get stuck when playing a game. So, I went to the GMAGames website and downloaded the first tutorial, made by David Greenwood. This guy is amazing! I listened through the first tutorial, and was amazed on how easy he explains and shows how it works. I was really motivated to give the game a try again, so I created a new game, and chose the small practice map instead.I have just completed my very first game a few minutes ago, and I enjoy the game. It took me a lot of time to figure out how to winn the game, and I feel so stupid for having spent that much time on such an easy tasc, which is take over the enemy town! I tried lots
of combinations like shooting at the city, but nothing worked. I then keep failed when sending people to the city to overtake it. It was like nothing happened. I then realized all the people ran out of movements before they reached the city, and I could have kicked myself. So I changed the production in the nearest city and sended a guy to the enemy city, and wann the game as easy so I got pretty much surprised! Yeah, well, we all learn each day, but I still feel pretty stupid. Lol.I'm so glad I finally have got used to the game, and I can't wait to play it some more after having taking a brake from it.What are the limits in the demo version? Where comes the realtime in the game? I haven't looked at the multiplayer stuff yet because I would get used to the game

Re: [Audiogames-reflector] can a blind person drive a car?

2014-04-15 Thread AudioGames.net Forum — Off-topic room: crashmaster

Re: can a blind person drive a car?

Hi camacheck. Its an interesting concept. Can a blind person drive a car, yes.Can they safely do it now? nope.Could they do it in the future? nope because they are blind and blind people can't drive cars or anything like that. Its alegal at least in one state of the us I know of but forgot which indiana I think that states the blind can't drive a car because they are blind. So even if it was possible to drive a car in the future because you are blind you wouldn't be able to anyway unless the laws were updated with new tech.I don't know about trusting my life to a computer.Being a tech and hacker, they can fail.I have been traveling a lot and things can fail.Firstly most of this is done via gps, cell nets or wifi or something like that.Bandwidth is not a given for any network not even for the net.In new zealand compaired to other reagons we do have quite slow net its getting better.Servers
can go down.Gps satelites can be blocked by bad weather and you can go out of range, it could take some time to find a signal.Mobile cell coverage depending if you go outside a major city could also die, yes there are places where the net and in fact cell phones either don't exist or are out of coverage. The other stuff is radar and radio waves its part of the navigation systems and lasers. As with any radio wireless etc, they can be jammed or simply be lost in other waves, there is the potentual for falier. Then there is the fact that even if the issue was simple there wouldn't be a way for the user to fix it even if the interface was accessable to them, maybe we will have something robust enough but thats a lot of if going on there.Even in normal cars there is a chance of falier, most of these are caught early but there have been cases where people have actually died or lost control of their vehicles due to their system crashing on them
leaving them with no control at all. They are not that commen but still happen from time to time.A big possibility would to be using your android or iphone device, I stayed with a friend in australia that uses her i device for music playback through a stereo and for gps nav and it works well.So I guess you could get your smart phone to drive a car. However gps devices can be a bit inacurate to and sometimes can go all over the place to get you to where you want to go.Oh and there is no stopping at interesting places either, the device goes where you tell it with no error at all that could potentually be boring if you wanted to be senic about yourself.Machines can't do that binary only has 2 numbers after all.states on and off no maybe.I think the best way for the blind to drive a car is if the bind could be made not blind eventually.Ofcause with the government in general supporting disability things jaws, etc there would be a
push not to try that hard because of what would be lost in doing so.Ofcause its always possible the blind could eventually drive, people in wheelchairs can drive, the deaf can also drive as long as they can see that is.On the testing side, yeah that could be a problem.Firstly the blind do not percieve colours the same as sighted do.We know of words we may associate them to sertain things but probably only the ones we really need.We can't see 3 green lights or lights on a box so we can't really handle colour the way the sighted do.Shapes is another thing, unless we touch them on special graphics paper we can't right now do anything in real time. All this excludes the 3d printing tech which may be the answer to all our issues of being blind in the first place.I'm not saying never, if its wanted we the blind will probably be able to drive maybe in the far future.Right now I don't see us doing it for obvious r
easons. The main one, the law will probably never change unless there is a push to.we are blind, and the blind can't do what they want at least not driving maybe they will never drive.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172148#p172148

Re: can a blind person drive a car?

Kamochek, its possible for a blind person to drive a car, but as has been said it is a very risky business and is not strictly legal. I do know of one instance where a blind man drove a car across Europe with someone sitting in the passenger seat giving him directions, but even there it would be extremely risky. There are too many things could go wrong with that situation such as someone pulling in out in front of the blind driver and the blind driver not being able to react fast enough to prevent a collision. There have also been a number of experimental cars in development in which a blind person could theoretically drive a car. One used haptic and vibration feedback to provide sensory information while driving, but I don't seriously feel that would be safe. Another experimental car used a computerized artificial intelligence to drive the car. Thus the blind person wouldn't really be driving the car. Only a passenger while the car drives itself. In either case no
government has approved those cars for use yet and there would be serious legal issues should a blind person get into an accident with such a vehicle.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172151#p172151

Re: playing DVDs from multiple countries

Harrylst, actually all drives can play any DVD with any region code if you no how to modify the firmware for the drive. In the USA, for example, the drives are set to region 1 by the manufacturer. In order for someone like me to play a DVD from the UK or Australia I have to download a utility for my drive and set the region code to 0 which will disable the region code checking. So what I would do in your case is google how to change the region code to 0 for your drive. I'm sure someone out there has a crack or utility to do that. Hi.After nearly losing this, I have the System Access to NVDA driver. If anyone wants the driver to make NVDA appear like System Access, download it with this link.https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/134 … r_NVDA.zipIn order to use it, just put the files in the folder that contains the system access files. You may have to replace some stuff so backing up the original file might be a good idea. For Entombed, put everything under entombed\external.Then, open Entombed and set speech to System Access and it should start talking through NVDA.The only bad point is it pauses a lot during battles, but I was able to play a game of Entombed using NVDA for output. It's a lot better than sapi since it can be interrupted. 2014-04-15 Thread AudioGames.net Forum — General Game Discussion: teratos

Re: GreaterMud woes

Hi. I know I am bringing up an old thread, but I stumbled upon this for a Google search for GreaterMUD. The server went down (including message board), and I was just looking for an alternate source of information on the crash. However, as a faithful player I thought I'd share some information about the game. The first thing that you should know is that it is essentially a re-written clone of an older "MUD" (in reality a BBS door game harking back to the days of 2400 baud modems) from the 90s called MajorMUD. Any information you find on MajorMUD is almost universally applicable to the successor. The intent of the project was to 1. replicate MajorMUD then 2. create original content and new game mechanics to improve on the original. In the ~8 years since it began, #1 is 99% complete and there is zero original content but some changes to game mechanics (which you can argue on their success).Secondly, it is not like the MUDs you are used to. It is close to
a door game such as Legend of the Red Dragon, but truly multiplayer. It is a hack and slash mud. It's about earning experience, getting items, and advancing your character. It's not about story and basically offers no way for players to modify the environment. That being said, there are a lot of quests (they start at level 10, though) and they have quite rich content. It's just that the target audience is generally people like myself who started playing MajorMUD since its inception or close to and therefore most users will generally ignore the story aspect. As previously mentioned in this thread, it is pretty much universally played via a telnet client called MegaMUD which is a shareware program that, yes, costs $45 to register -- that being said, you can get a free trial and if you don't mind cheating a bit someone will gladly provide you with a register code for free (which is basically how everyone gets it). The client allows you to run scripts which aut
o-bless your spells, auto-pause for resting when your HP get low, auto-attack, auto-grab cash, auto-move your player, etc. etc. and with some programmatic complexity to it if you get deeper into it. Most of the time people are just letting mega do it's thing, but there are more people lurking ATK than it usually appears. Most people join gangs and keep their talk within the gang instead of gossip. But, if you're a newbie, nearly any time someone will be around to lend a hand.I guess that's about it. Happy mudding!URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172156#p172156

Re: [Audiogames-reflector] The Eventual Famine

2014-04-15 Thread AudioGames.net Forum — General Game Discussion: tward

Re: The Eventual Famine

Dark, well, all I can say is you aren't alone in your staunch refusal to upgrade without significant benefits to upgrade. I just heard on the news that many US based companies in effect told Microsoft they won't be upgrading to Windows 8, and they will contract with third-party developers to keep XP and their current XP based software going if necessary. So it will be interesting to see how this all turns out because Microsoft's push to get everyone to buy new computers running the latest OS clearly isn't working as well as they had hoped, and it is clear that their new Metro UI is becoming a dismal failure for the company. If anything one of two things seem to be happening because of it. Either people stay with what they have, or they switch to Mac OSX or Linux. Neither instance is getting Microsoft the results they hoped for. That does not, however, answer your underlying question which is why bother upgrading. Before anyone can answer a question like t
hat we must first ask what is a worthwhile upgrade. The way someone like you and the way someone like myself would answer that question would be vastly different as we have two completely different reasons for using our computers. For you and others like you it seems you are looking for some significant differences that simply do not exist. You want the next gen Windows operating system to offer improvements in web  browsing, email, office, etc. Truth is that stuff hasn't changed a whole lot in years, and I'll be the first to say I don't see any advantage in say Microsoft Office 2010 over Office 2003. I'm sure there are new features besides a new graphical user interface, but if I don't use them, have no need for those features, then an upgrade from Office 2003 to Office 2010 or Office 2013 is of no advantage to me. I suspect this is where you and many XP users are right now. There are certainly benefits in upgrading to Windows 8, but if tho
se features are of no practical use for you, don't seem like a big benefit, then it doesn't matter to you how many new features there are. If you don't use those features, don't want/need those features, then arguing that it is better is a pretty mute point. For someone like myself my situation is a bit different than your's. I don't regard my computer simply as a tool. It is for me a form of entertainment, and I enjoy trying out new software as it becomes available. Therefore upgrading is not so much a necessity as it is a curious desire to experiment with the new software and see what it can and can not do. Therefore practical concerns like internet, e-mail, office, whatever are pretty much non-issues for me.Besides that, there is a very practical reason for upgrading besides mere interest. I try to buy a new laptop on average between three and five years. Often times by the time one of my laptops is wearing out, needs to be repaired, whe
n I get a new one there is a new OS available. It would be far more hassle trying to down grade to an ancient OS like XP than it would be to just go ahead and use whatever is pre-installed on the new laptop be it Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, whatever. If it is on the new computer I use it. Since I am not as picky about which Windows OS I am using I don't have any particular preference and can go from one to another version with relative ease.I guess for me the big issue to upgrade is hardware support. Many new computers have duel 64-bit processors, 4 or more GB of ram, huge hard drives, USB 3.0 ports, etc. All of that is important to me, and since hardware manufacturers are no longer developing XP drivers the only way to upgrade the hardware is to go with a newer OS such as Windows 7 or Windows 8 that supports the new hardware. Since the new OS comes bundled with the computer at the time of purchase its a no brainer to upgrade both at the same time. For me there
would be no advantage in downgrading to XP, because it wouldn't run on the new hardware anyway which defeats the purpose of buying a new desktop or laptop. I suspect many XP users are happy with what they have hardware wise, have no desire or money to upgrade everything, so simply want to stick with what they have. That would explain why someone like me can and will upgrade and why a certain percentage won't until they absolutely must upgrade.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172157#p172157

Re: Addressing Some Concerns About USA Games

Bryan, its not just games the blind community wine and complain about. They complain about everything, or so it seems to me. I've been around on this and other blind forums and there have always been more than a handful of blind members who will wine, complain, and cry about this, that, and the other thing. Its a mindset I don't completely understand, but I think people let them get by with it and they try to pull it on more mature members of the community without success.I think part of it is they never had a chance to grow up. A lot of blind people are on disability income like SSI, still live at home with mom and dad, and have little interaction with the rest of the world. Therefore they tend to be immature and self-centered living in their own little world. They are unable to sympathize or empathize with someone like myself because I have tried not to fall into that trap, and for the most part have lived a somewhat normal life. I've been married, had chil
dren, gone to college, etc as anyone else wood so have had to grow up and experience how the real world works not sit at home and bitch and complain about everything and anything I don't like. That, of course, brings us to the real problem.I think a lot of blind people don't have a lot to do accept play with their computers, and are constantly looking for new stimulus like new games. Therefore if a game doesn't appear on demand, when they want it, they wine and complain because they are bored and have nothing else better to do with their time like go to school, a regular job, etc so expect game developers to keep them happy. Therefore those of us who have other things besides sit around playing game or creating them get the brunt of the "why aren't you working on it" type questions from people who have nothing else better to do with their time and simply wouldn't understand if we told them.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172159#p172159

For those having difficulty getting the game to work, I had to use the insert escape keystroke after every passage to get Chrome to refresh content. I'm trying to remember if I had to do it to get off the loading screen, but it's worth a shot if Chrome is just sitting there.I think the audio style choose your own adventure story is an awesome idea, and I hope the final product has enough side branches and alternate pathways to keep a gamer interested.Good luck, dev team!URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172168#p172168

[Audiogames-reflector] Pausing the Screen in Console Programs

2014-04-15 Thread AudioGames.net Forum — Off-topic room: tward

Pausing the Screen in Console Programs

Hi all,This question is mostly for developer's but any thoughts from non-developers are welcome as well.At the moment I am working on a quick and dirty text adventure system written in C++ suitable for developing classic interactive fiction games similar to games like the Infocom text adventures like Zork, Arthur, Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, and so forth. Since I am not really a fan of the text adventure languages like Inform and AGT I have decided to create my own system in C++, but have run into a slight problem with the text adventure system. In Dos/Windows if one wants to pause a screen of text all he or she has to do is call the _getch() function which will pause the out put until the enter or space key is pressed. Mac OSX and Linux have no such function and similar functionality has to be accessed through ncurses or another library like that. I am trying to come up with a pause function that will be completely cross-platform and will compile on
any platform without having to involve ncurses or some other third-party solution. So what I have done in the meantime is use the standard cin input stream with a prompt that says, "press c to continue or q to quit." I am wondering if people are okay with this method of pausing the screen, or if some of you  developers knows of a better way to go about pausing the text  on screen let me know.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172169#p172169

Re: [Audiogames-reflector] The Eventual Famine

2014-04-15 Thread AudioGames.net Forum — General Game Discussion: Dark

Re: The Eventual Famine

Well Tom, I can see the difference in priorities if you actually have an interest in the technology for it's own sake, which is fair enough, plus of course as someone who has played with a lot of different operating systems irritating factors in the user interface will not be as much an issue to you sinse you won't have specific ways of doing different things. However for myself and a lot of other xp users, it is the fact that post xp windows essentially changes everything and then gives very little in return that is the issue, that and the fact that compatibility is getting more difficult to maintain what with all these new security features, lack of libraries problems with support of older versions of direct x etc. I'm sure there are probably logical reasons for this, for example microsoft's uac thing being a security fix, and the lack of 16 bit support being a consequence of 64 bit hardware, however those advantages just won't mean muc
h to most casual computer users such as myself. Plus of course, with xp being around for such a long time, there are already some great solutions to xp's problems. For example, sinse buying Avg pc tuneup and regularly running it's various fixes for things like the registry, I've noticed that my pc has had far fewer errors and the speed has massively increased. So if you say to me "well windows 7 doesn't have errors like xp on it's own" it doesn't practically mean much. Of course this is directly at odds with what you or another person interesting in the basic running on the os would think sinse I'd imagine you take an interest in the fact that the registry is more secure from errors in future windows, however as you said this is the difference between seeing your computer as a tool as opposed to a general interestit also  seems that where in xp microsoft made a conscious effort to maintain both program compatibility and
interface compatibility with windows 9x, none of this remains in post xp windows. Program compatibility takes a degree of wangling to work (and in some cases won't at all), and with the interface you get what your given and like it as far as microsoft are concerned, after all it was up to a freeware developer to create classic shell, and even that doesn't fix things like the lack of outlook express or a propper windows explorer. I myself have ways of organizing my shortcuts and  files that I've developed and been using for 16 years, including all the practical time I've been doing actual computer stuff such as playing games, and while I could of course change this at the same time I'd want a good reason to. I had this reason with Ios which is why I no longer use a laptop for a portable computer system, but I've yet to have this reason with post xp windows. Then of course, for a visually impared computer userr, due to lack of an instan
t skim read of information there is the simple fact that interface changes are more of a pain. There has been a modern convention over the past few years, instead of using menus, submenus, lists etc, to simply throw lots of icons on the screen. This makes sense for sighted users sinse it is easier to have everything you want constantly visible, but for vi users is a severe step backwards sinse it gives you far too much on screen clutter to sort through. A perfect example of this is contrasting windows live mail in post xp windows and outlook express, where in post xp windows your entirely reliant on auto complete and don't have a handy list of contacts, much less be able to hide a lot of interface elements and just have three fairly usable tabs. In xp there were always several interface options, for example arranging things by icons, tyles, lists etc, not anymore.Any interface can be got used to eventually of course, and if there was no loss in terms of program compatibi
lity and some interesting new features doubtless people would just take the time to make the change, but the fact is that just hasn't happened, or at least it hasn't for a lot of casual users. This is why I suspect myself we wont' see a change from xp until some new interface tool comes out, such as touch screens for desktop, and even then it is a tos up whether microsoft or Apple will have the better implementation.I personally do hope all this negativity about the metro thing will persuade microsoft to create an xp 2 or at least release xp drivers for newer hardware, but listening to customers does not seem to be microsoft's strong  point.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172173#p172173

Re: can a blind person drive a car?

Well regarding substitution technology I'm not sure myself, sinse most of those sorts of things I've seen were rather confusing and it was a case of picking out minimal information, sinse learning to read such a large  amount of informational input as sight as sound or even virbration was quite a task, however that doesn't mean something won't be developed in the future that would work, though whether it would work well enough for a person to drive a car safely with it waits to be seen. Regarding the computer Ai driving a car, that I see as a lot more possible, heck I have recently been using the blind qsquare satnav ap myself and have been very pleased with the amount of new information I get with it., However it irritates me that while the technology of a self driving car exists at the moment, and only requires perfection and production, the main stumbling block in the way of producing that technology is to do with the law and insurance not the te
chnology  itself. It seems ridiculous that where thousands of blind people are stuck in their houses or forced to pay hundreds of pounds for inconvenient public transport the technology exists to give equal mobility access to what sighted people have, it is due to something as silly as worrying about who sues who if there was an accident. then again what do you expect when we're living in a society where  parents had to fill in permission slips for their children to be allowed to make daisy chains at school, or where doctors and nurses spend %50 of their time filling in endless piles of forms and notes to make sure they cover their collective rears in case someone takes it into their head to complain.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=172175#p172175
