Well Tom, I can see the difference in priorities if you actually have an interest in the technology for its own sake, which is fair enough, plus of course as someone who has played with a lot of different operating systems irritating factors in the user interface will not be as much an issue to you sinse you wont have specific ways of doing different things. However for myself and a lot of other xp users, it is the fact that post xp windows essentially changes everything and then gives very little in return that is the issue,  that and the fact that compatibility is getting more difficult to maintain what with all these new security features, lack of libraries problems with support of older versions of direct x etc. Im sure there are probably logical reasons for this, for example microsofts uac thing being a security fix, and the lack of 16 bit support being a consequence of 64 bit hardware, however those advantages just wont mean muc
 h to most casual computer users such as myself. Plus of course, with xp being around for such a long time, there are already some great solutions to xps problems. For example, sinse buying Avg pc tuneup and regularly running its various fixes for things like the registry, Ive noticed that my pc has had far fewer errors and the speed has massively increased. So if you say to me well windows 7 doesnt have errors like xp on its own it doesnt practically mean much. Of course this is directly at odds with what you or another person interesting in the basic running on the os would think sinse Id imagine you take an interest in the fact that the registry is more secure from errors in future windows, however as you said this is the difference between seeing your computer as a tool as opposed to a general interestit also seems that where in xp microsoft made a conscious effort to maintain both program compatibility and
  interface compatibility with windows 9x, none of this remains in post xp windows. Program compatibility takes a degree of wangling to work (and in some cases wont at all), and with the interface you get what your given and like it as far as microsoft are concerned, after all it was up to a freeware developer to create classic shell, and even that doesnt fix things like the lack of outlook express or a propper windows explorer. I myself have ways of organizing my shortcuts and files that Ive developed and been using for 16 years, including all the practical time Ive been doing actual computer stuff such as playing games, and while I could of course change this at the same time Id want a good reason to. I had this reason with Ios which is why I no longer use a laptop for a portable computer system, but Ive yet to have this reason with post xp windows.Then of course, for a visually impared computer userr, due to lack of an instan
 t skim read of information there is the simple fact that interface changes are more of a pain. There has been a modern convention over the past few years, instead of using menus, submenus, lists etc, to simply throw lots of icons on the screen. This makes sense for sighted users sinse it is easier to have everything you want constantly visible, but for vi users is a severe step backwards sinse it gives you far too much on screen clutter to sort through. A perfect example of this is contrasting windows live mail in post xp windows and outlook express, where in post xp windows your entirely reliant on auto complete and dont have a handy list of contacts, much less be able to hide a lot of interface elements and just have three fairly usable tabs. In xp there were always several interface options, for example arranging things by icons, tyles, lists etc, not anymore.Any interface can be got used to eventually of course, and if there was no loss in terms of program compatibi
 lity and some interesting new features doubtless people would just take the time to make the change, but the fact is that just hasnt happened, or at least it hasnt for a lot of casual users. Their is a creating tracks guide at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/266 … tracks.txt that details how to create your own tracks. If you want to play them online, you need to send me them or post them in a dropbox link here and I will evaluate them. If they are good I will add them to either race event or dlc, it depends weather you want them to be played offline as well. Also, the document might say it works with beta 2, but it applys to beta 3 as well. Hi,I were at an event some time ago were blind people could drive cars on a air field with a sighted person in the passenger seat. The fun thing was that i didnt need to drive slowlycause i was there early and no one was there so i think. So we raced around the airfield and it was really funny.They had multiple cars standing around there. I drove a BMW i think but i am not sure about that. But there was one car i really liked.I dont no where they get that from but they had a dodge charger standing in their motor pool. I actually did something similar Simber, though it was at a stop car race track with a driving instructor and there was just the one car to try. David just posted a temp fix for sound device not found errors, but thanks to Rylan Vroom for letting me know a fix that gets talk working on all computers that I have had test it so far. It even worked for Windows 8.1 installations. I know it makes no sense, but simply run and then exit GMA Tank Commander. Time of Conflict should work thereafter. You could probably replace Tank Commander with Shades of Doom, but I havent tried this yet. This is a temporary fix. Hi,That is exactly what ncurses does, just in a bit more elegant way.I would personally have a buffer that receives text to print, from multiple sources all at once. For instance a status bar refresh in each second, text to print to the bottom of the screen, menu prompts in menu functions, etc. The buffer would keep track of the console size (screen size in this case, I assume), and once it receives more lines than it can print, it prints a more prompt, and pauses at N - Buffer_size - 1, N being the length of the text to print.Of course you can add more variation, e.g. enter a number to jump to a specified screen, space or enter to continue, q to quit, go backwards, these are all up to you. A blind person driving a car in a deserted parking lot is one thing. I actually did that with my dads truc once with him sitting inthe passengers seat telling me where to turn. But on a populated street or highway is another matter and, quite frankly, I cant ever se it happening. I was extremely skeptical of te NFBs experimennts with haptic feedback (vibration in other words), since I couldnt see how it could be transmitted fast enough for the blind person to act and avoid mishaps. Even were I to turn out to be completely and utterly wrong aout tis I could see finances being a maor stumbling block since the vast majority of blind folks in the US alone are either unemployed or underemployed. A car for the blind would be far more expensive than one for the sighted and its hard enough to get Joke Rehab organizations to help pay for ordinary assistive tech, so I can imagine their reaction if I asked for help to get a blindy car. HI Aprone and all,so, after a month or more of being left without a working computer as my old one broke and I had to search for an affordable and reasonable new one, then try to get used to Windows 8 to finally decide to downgrade the new machine back to Windows 7, etc, I was exhilarated to find out about the new Swamp update. Honestly, I think the Kaldobsky gamer accounts are in fact a good decision. They wont earn you anything significant in practice, I think the 2 dollars per month from each customer are barely going to be enough to maintain the server costs and everything, but if it at least helps to keep the number of hackers and cheaters to a minimum, then its by all means a good thing. You should in fact have started charging even more for the accounts so that you would receive even more of a reward in return for your excelent, incredible work that can never be appreciated truly enough. And Im saying that with the knowledge of everything youve
  previously stated on this forum regarding this matter - whether you should produce games just as a hobby and for free or sell them commercially. With the extra days remaining up until the end of the month during which the purchase was made being added to your total account time for free, the entire month not being counted against your time remaining in the account if you go that entire month without playing, etc, the whole thing is a more than fair deal for anyone sensible and mature. The others would never really appreciate the true effort behind the games anyway, so dont deserve anything better than the ordinary freebies they already have and had even before Swamp and your other games appeared on the scene.So, I downloaded the game to my new machine, purchased a Kaldobsky gamer account and tried to run it. I got a Runtime error 52: Bad file name or number error. I installed Winkit, ran checkup.exe and then even windows64bit.bat manually etc but still keep
  getting the same error. The error appears every single time as soon as I start the game and there is no debuglog.txt or similar file. Any idea as to what could be wrong? Should I manually create files like progress.ini before trying to run the game or something like that? Sadly the company went bust which was a bit disappointing, but certainly that is the best sensory modification Ive seen albeit the technology there is about 10 years old and not up to some of the scanning and imaging tech we have now which could likely do a better job of detection provided interpreting the information was possible.Whether you could get a sensory modification device accurate enough to drive a car on a public street Im not sure, and as Bryan said whether people would trust you with one is another question as well. Ive heard of the place to which you refer here, and I have a friend who lives there. She seems to like it there pretty much. It is called Friedman Place, or Freedman Place. I forget which spelling they use. But anyway, I actually met one of the staff members there several years ago when I went out for breakfast with some buddies and a sister. She is friends with a family friend of ours, and I think shes in charge of activities there. At least she was at the time. The founder/exec director of a nonprofit organization for which Ive volunteered, was going to go there and talk with them about some type of partnership, but I dont believe anything ever came of that. But Id be interested in just touring the facility sometime, and talking with the staff. In addition, my friend who lives there has said that she wants to get together with me again sometime. She is blind, and I think might have some additional disabilities.t

Hello everyone,Its been a little while, but Im back with a game project I talked about a little while ago. At the end of the testing, I also have a text document that contains a couple of questions, and Id really appreciate if as many as possible could fill it out after testing, as itll be needed for my dissertation!Before I hand out the links, Ill just go through the controls/goals of the game briefly:The aim is to bring the metal ball from the starting area to the goal, while navigating around walls and traps. There are two levels in the game currently. You have 3 lives to use, and after that its game over. Whenever the game over or win screen shows up, theres going to be a repeating metallic noise. At that point, you can tap the screen to retry the level, or continue to the second level if you just finished the first one. The second level just repeats if you tap the screen after winning again.The controls (PC/Android):Use the arrow keys or tilt your device for movement. Hi all! How about solving the screen reader problem? Why when i chose to use sapi and then restart the game, it returns using Nvda? I was also thinking of creating a type Risk-game Map. Could it be possible using just armours or tanks like the table game? In my idea: you use only your tanks against other tanks and these units can enter and conquere the cities. Well Amineel, %70 is a guestimate more than a real number it is true, however equally if you look at the major landmark developers of accessible games, a good proportion of them have written or are still writing in vb6. David greenwood, Jim Kitchin, Aprone and I believe spoonbill, as well as several older games like Bsc and light tech who arent updating their games anymore though they are still kicking around,though of course equally both David and jim have included the necessary components to run vb6 applications on post xp windows. While a bit of double posting is okay, especially when there is a good reason, remember this isnt a chat program where you can just rattle off lots of one line messages. @Peter, I am quite aware of sight complexity as I have a small amount of vision myself, however I would not just dismiss the idea of sensory overload, sinse practically speaking if something is going to be so complex as to require years of training before it is meaningful I dont know how many people would bennifit from it. Certainly this has generally proved to be the problem with other sensory substitution projects Ive seen, so that for example recognizing the same object twice or gaining information on perspective and space (certainly information needed to drive a car), hasnt really happened for the majority
  of users. This is why the ultracanes were useful, sinse their translation was so simple it was obvious to pick up and use.  still I wouldnt know without hearing the thing in acton, though Im sorry your not developing an Ios version. @Bryan, I personally intend to get a self driving car if they become available even if I am a grumpy old man. Hi,nope, that file didnt get created for me yet. I am using the freshly unpacked game executable without any extra files such as progress.ini or debuglog.txt having the time to be created yet.I remember there was a group of people, most of which, if not all, being from the Czech Republic, which had trouble running the game with a certain Sapi voice on the system. I was one of them a few months ago. You had to send a modified version of the game executable to us which had Sapi support completely disabled altogether so that we could run the game at all. However, I think I know which Sapi voice was causing the trouble, and I dont even have that particular voice installed on my current system at all. I think I did manage to get the game running on the old Windows 7 system eventually, even without the modified Sapiless version, but I cant remember what had to be done in order to achieve that any more. The only significant difference between the old and the
  new system should be that this new one is a 64-bit edition. Ive also experienced the same behavior with Castaways on the old Windows 7 32-bit system. That game I didnt manage to get running though, unlike Swamp. Castaways and Swamp are the two of your games that I would love to play the most on this new system. Hi Dark, practically speaking if something is going to be so complex as to require years of training  before it is meaningful I dont know how many people would bennifit from itYour point is well-taken. I cannot predict how much effort blind people are willing to spend in return for what benefit. Learning to play the piano also takes years of practice, so why not learning to see. Now a game play comment. Have you considered giving a damage bonus for beating the defense rating by a sufficient margin, say +1 damage for beating by 6 +1 per additional full three. Example: I roll a 20 and with other bonuses, I beat the defense rating by 15, Id score 4 extra damage? Seems this would make 20s more special. Of course theyd get to do that too which could ruin ones day.Is there a way to create items or monsters for the dungeon? Could such a construction be created? Sorry. I should have been more specific. Heres exactly what happens. I start the game the music comes on no other window pops up. if I hit entered nothing happens. when I wait for the music to be done I hear a message saying loading snow race menu, but again nothing happens and no other screen pops up all I have is the desktop and thats all. Well Dark, enjoy getting hacked once people start reverse engineering XP. Im glad Im on 7, I dont use windows mail, I use thunderbird, and to be brutally honest, none of the classics you mentioned gave me the slightest bit of interest. So its no loss to me if we lose them or not. If some one writes up an emulator than thats great. If not, XP is now I believe 10 years old now? Its time to lay it to rest and get with everyone else. The menu is just new game on top, load game beneath it. Thats how all the FF games have been. Your cursor always starts on load game, so pressing up will put you on new game. Unfortunately, if youre a total I dont see how you can navigate the sphere grid or FFX2s garment grids. Hi.Well, I decided to reset my Nexus 7 because there was a lot of crap on it.I heard that TalkBack could be enabled by holding the power button and pressing two fingers on the screen during the setup process.This does not work for me. It didnt work the first time I set this up either and when Ive turned off TalkBack, the shortcut didnt work either.So, why doesnt it work? Do I have to hold the power button then put two fingers on the screen and let go of the power button or do I keep holding it down as I press two fingers on the screen?Im pretty sure this can be done as Ive heard of other people doing it.However, I am having a lot of issues making this work.How far apart do my fingers have to be?Any help is appreciated and Im not getting sighted help because this is part of my test of Android accessibility.URL: http

I dont think so. If you are talking about the Bible mini series made by the History Channel all of the documentaries and mini series I have purchased from them on DVD did not have description. Plus when it was originally aired a year or two ago it did not have description then.
