Thank you, I think it must be enabled by default, but I'll check it out.Anyway I found another option to make jaws and maybe other screen readers detect the language automatically. In Microsoft word 2010, you must select the whole text, (ctrl+A), go to language in the review tab, and select language proofing. Then, you will have the option to mark the text as, and by the way, you need to select a language like Italian, german, French or another language. It works and jaws reads it as it's used to do.

Hi,There's a reason for not using github: it only allows for a maximum of 1 GB of space for each repository, and source code can get quite large - look at the GCC source code, for example - and that's why github isn't used. I have a server that I could set up a git repo on if you want, though.

I would simpily like to note no one warned about this, anyone who is sensitive to strong language I do not recomend playing with out changing some of the sounds. There is some quite crazy profanity and nearly sexual disturbing miterial in this game, mostly the pain sounds. Just wanted to throw it out there for anyone who really cares about that. I like the idea of the game but I think some of this language takes it a bit to far. Not for most people including me, but just for some of ya out there who may not like stuff like that.

Orin, the one thing you might have figured out from the responses to this topic is that asking developers "Which language is best for my purposes?" is a lot like asking rabid sports fans "Which team is best?"  My own perspective is that Python, Pure Basic, or BGT should be sufficient for what you want to do.  For you, it seems that the most important consideration is for you to find a language that you feel comfortable working with as well as one that has a good supportive community of other people who are trying to do similar things that will be willing to answer your questions.  Hopefully, the people responding to your question have given you some good ideas who you can reach out to in order to find or build that community.  It also sounds like you are thinking that Python's style is most comfortable for you.  While people have cited some problems with some of the Python game related libraries, I would not worry about that too mu
 ch as long as you can find a good community to assist you with your questions.  There really isn't a perfect language and most libraries have their problems and part of becoming a real code ninja is understanding what those problems are and knowing how to work with or around them.  And again, a good supportive community will assist you with that.I wish you good fortune in learning Python and developing games.

Oh, and another thing I tried in 1989 at an NFB national convention was a game console called the GEM, which stood for Game and Education Machine.  It used cartridges, and the games I remember playing most were Hangman and Bowling.  It was really cool but a shame I couldn't afford to buy one.

Game Source Code Repository

I've noticed a number of posts that involve sharing code.  I was wondering if anyone in the community has thought about using GitHub to store such code?  It makes for a good way to store code that can be reused by others in a place that is easily searchable.  Also, it makes it possible for others to fork your code as well as submit bug fixes or code improvements that you can merge back into your code base.  There might be really good reasons people aren't using something like GitHub, but I thought I would ask.

Hey all,just a quick note.I think I'll be implementing both types of track builder. Some one suggested I make it like Mario Cart, which sounds cool however I've never played that game so cannot base any ideas off of it. If the last poster gets back to me I can add that in as a possibility.  From what it seems, the track builder is going to be a rather large menu, with a lot of things to choose from. . I don't think anyone will be disappointed with it in the least bit.  And remember as always, you can check out the s quad racing page for updates, as I've been working on quite a lot recently since I returned from my code break on April 12th.

@Fabi, the majority of audio game developers don't often release their sales figures out to the public so there is really any way to know which was the best selling audio game, how many copies were sold, etc since most developers simply do not release that sort of information.What I can say is having talked to other developers in the past audio games in general do not do well. If a developer makes 500 sales he or she is doing good. Most games fall short of that. Of course, with the release of iOS and the opening up of mobile platforms I've heard sales of accessible games are far more profitable on iOS than ever was the case on the PC.

was also thinking, if the swords have a slashing but fire ability, you could combine sounds. like the sound of the sword swishing through the air, combined with a blast of fire. was also thinking sizzling flesh would be appropriate for that kind of attack. was thinking you could also make weapons out of provisions you found in the tower. making a sword out of body parts or enchanting enemy's weapons to make them more to your liking. building clay weapons and allowing them to harden into something durable. also, was going to suggest, more sounds in stereo would be so awesome! like when the sword or axe is swishing through the air, could go across the field to thud into your enemy's chest. sorry if I'm being so graphic here.

Wpa2-psk uses a key ecryption algorithm. Packet sniffing can not be achieved because of the packet encryption model, which because of encrypted key can not be disassembled, unlike wep. The only way for this to be done is brute forcing, which depending on the clues present to you can take 2 days or an year. I would highly advocate against doing this. You are probably violating some laws in your country, wherever that is.

Hi all, i'm working on a little client update and burack, your translation bug will be included. Also, this update will make it so that you will no longer see your self as a near by player, and even, even, posibly if I decide to do it a mini tracking system, that allows players to be tracked, but only, if you can see them. If they move out of range it would say you lost the person you were looking at. Now I don't know if i'll do this, it's only a possibility. Also something some of you may like... I'm starting work on a default translations.txt file, yay! Now you can just copy the text into a lng file, then add the translations! The package will be seperate from the game, but just know I am working on it!

Hi.I have just beated the game for the first time. [[wow]]... I can't find the right words to describe how great the story is. The ending, well... I did something wrong for sure, and I'll see if I can make a better ending by playing through the game again. The game is really really worth the money. This is the best text game I ever have played.Quite often, there are blank lines in the game, where the speech doesn't say anything at all. The back to the menu button where you can save your game doesn't read too, and I'm wandering if we are missing anything important, or if there are that many pictures in the game which the speech will skip.I find the options menu confusing. I managed to turn down the volume of the music, but it seems like you ahve to close the game to get out of the options. I'm not sure on how to change anything else, because you can't confirm your choices. I don't know how to describe what confuses me, but i
 t's like all the choices are listed in the menu, but you can only arrow through them without having the choice to confirm anything.Otherwise, as I said, the game is really worth it. I'm just not sure on why I didn't unlocked anything while playing through this the first time. The stories are still locked.

np, that was part of the achmed.exe file. running it will persistently tell you I kill you and sing jingle bombs until you kill it with alt-q. The version I compiled may or may not have protection routeens which will disable task manager, reg tools and will start on boot for the current user if not running with admin permissions, for all users, at least it'll try, not sure if I got that part to work. Most of my killcodes will be alt-q, for the computer battle one, it's control 0, control 1, shift 2, for the eloquence from hell or jaws from hell, whichever one, it's alt-s. The nightmare one, if that's in there will flash a screaming skull up every 5 minutes, killcode is alt-q, same for the tor pig, it's alt-q, which belches every hour I think. I think they all include protections, not sure if they all work or not. At any rate, the source files end in au3, simple autoit scripts. To give credit where credit is due, I think that computer battle was written by 
 someone named damien judging by the code, I just modified it to use eloquence a built-in eloquence synth. If anyone's interested, I have more random scripts I wrote. If you're interested, I'll upload them.

Hi,For some strange reason, Arch-Linux won't recognize my external USB 3.0 HFS Mac hard drive. I run it in a VM so message output is hard to retrieve; I'll give a general summary of it, though. first, I connect it to the computer. Next, I go into VMware Player and attach the device to the VM. A few seconds later, Arch-Linux says something like the following:device descriptor read/64, error 18It says this like 3 times, then says something about a epam or epohc packet length, and then:usb-usb port 1: unable to enumerate USB deviceAfter that, when I typels /dev/sd*to see if it recognized it, it just shows /dev/sda. Is there a way I can get around this issue?

Hi,Mainly it works for me. I have had no accessibility issues with windows 10 so far - but we can't forget the Skype memory leak issue - damn you, Microsoft! Skype actually randomly slows my computer to such a crawl it starts disk cashing for about 4 seconds before the kernel gives it a hefty push out of the way and a 1.3 second lecture. (All of you will know what that is. A warning about memory usage to Skype.exe.) Seriously, why did Microsoft have to take over Skype technologies? To me, it sounds like they want to take over everything.

I've got another question, actually a few more. I listened to an LP of entombed, covering all the floors. And 1 thing I didn't like was that you didn't encounter all varieties of enemies, ex, Trolls, lizards or what ever they were called, humans, etc.I also think that in the game, when you get to the last flore, you can't go back to the shop or other floors. The reason why I say this is because, I'm used to games now a days where you can't go back to other levels or shops when you reach the final level, it also provides a little bit of chalange, meaning you have to fuy everything you need before going to the last floor. This is of course, just a suggestion. And if you need bata testing help, I'm always available unless I have school or something, but yeah. If you need help, just let me know.

I assume, at least NVDA might have some problem regarding compatibility with windows 10. Not really sure about Jaws, maybe they will work on jaws 17 to make it work with windows 10.Most of the modern apps when you use jaws are accessible via touch cursor. It helps somewhat.

Hi,I upgraded to Windows 10 and I found out that it basically sucked at accessibilty. I can't use the modern apps  and İnternet explorer with NVDA.  So how do you use Windows 10 with NVDA? İt also doesn't read the notifications and the start menu isn't accessible either

Hi Arjan that is cool. funnily enough i won't have my ten year aniversary until close to christmas, and yes it is scary. It might actually be nice to have some sort of on site news event or competition generally, especially for people who have been through  most of the run though what it would involve I don't know, maybe we coul run a competition and ask some of our developers to donate free copies of games as prizes?I'll have a think.

Hello Matty903Thank you for your amazing explaination; You answered every question i had. I am really looking forward to VR headsets and what new things they can bring on. Also, that HoloLenz project by Microsoft looks amazing; It has many many huge potencial, I am really excited to see what they will do with it in the future.I was reading about the terms you mentioned, Kinaesthesia, Proprioception. It was a subject that i never knew about. It's cool because A lot of times I asked myself, "How could John Petrucci play the electric guitar like that /like drinking water/ without even looking at his hands?" and that question continued with, "Could i even reach that proficiency with practicing? Maybe having no eye sight will slow down that progress and won't help with it". I believe those kind of questions fell into the field of the terms you mentioned. I'm driffting off-topic so I played the game too, and i second what the dragon said. hehe.

hi all.So, I've just bought the game directly from the website, which gives me the game for all three platforms and a key for Steam. Yay for that. this is super awesome.So, I unzipped the archive and thought while I was unzipping this on my Mac: Why not give it a try on OSX? Well, I expected an empty window with absolutely nothingness, but I would just quickly launch it to see if it would start up, shut it down again, copy it to my virtual Windows and then chekc it out. But then... Then, guys... My finger came closer to the V key on my keyboard. I pressed it, and then... Text to speech was enabled in the Mac version of the game. Yeah, you read that right. The game is also fully accessible on the Mac! I'm so super excited for this... Just, [[wow]]! Well, back to the game.  I hope others will enjoy the Mac version as well.

Ten year anniversary

This is a rather random observation, but today is the day I've been on this forum for 10 years! Granted, I also was on the old forum with no login system for a while, and was even a bit of a nuisance there. I also didn't join the new forum for about a month after it came out, so there's a fair few people who have been around longer... But I was probably the youngest when I joined, and as a result I've been on this forum for more than half my life, which is a little bit of a scary thought if you think about it. But this forum is also primarily how I tought myself English, which was ridiculously bad at the time. There probably is enough proof hidden in the archive somewhere. I used to just go and post things which I literally translated from Dutch to English using a dreadfully bad translation website.So there you have it. Random anniversary ramblings. Speaking of which, I should make a 'You know you've been on this site long when...' list. Wh

Hi,I think the developer wants some kind of challenge when he makes the beeps change randomly, but don't worry, they're only 2 or 3 beeps, so the final shot scroll is easy to perform, but this is nothing against what will you face when you progress more , uhm, slj, I can help you in this, if you wanna share save files, I mean I can use your save file to make you pass this battle, which means that I beat Stella for you and then I give you back the updated save file with the beaten battle, but this is not a good idea if you don't like to share your own save file and if you want to know what's Stella's defeating scene.Hth

jaws cannot detect automatically the language currently being spoken, but it detect the layout. So, if the language in the very first perographs of the document is in English, than I use Italian, with an Italian keyboard layout, jaws ought to detect that. but the problem is that I cannot change between editing languages in Microsoft word 2010.

I am too. While I might gotten a little agressive, I was pointing out the perks and faults of it too. I do enjoy other languages like Java/C/C++/C#, however Java really is not a programming language where graphics are concerned, since while it has a lot of libraries, its GUI is not accessible without third-party tools. C/C++ has hundreds of tousands of libraries available, which is more than all three languages we've discussed here - Python, Lua, and PB - so that's probably why its most widely used. C# is .NET CCPPJAVA (C C++ Java), in other words. C# is just a sort of hybrid language between all three. F#, though, is a sort of Java remix, and that's why I don't use it.

Hi.I don't like to say this, but I'm finally giving up on this game because of how the battles works. This is really a shame because I'm so much interested to see what comes next in the game, but I'm hopeless stuck, because of the timing of the scrolls.I'm stuck, trying to beat Stella. My issue is that I can't practice the extremely powerful scroll before the battle, and the scroll is changing in the battle. this is an issue because I'm playing on a virtual machine on my Mac, where there is a delay. I have to press the mili second the beeps starts, otherwise the scroll fails.So, for this reason, I'm kind of forced to give up on this game, because I can only practice the scroll while battleing, which takes forever when you have to hammer the keys to skip the text when you enter the room.Am I the only one who have to give up on the game?I'm thinking about writing a mail to the developer, because he doesn'

They actually are quite different games... Mortal Kombat x on ios is basically a card battle type game, not an actual fighting game... and the PC version is the standard one on one fighter. That is the key difference, really, but for a lot of the cosmetic and extra visual accessories, they can be unlocked by connecting the two versions. the IOS version, to my knowledge, is not accessible unfortunately.

Oh yeah. I completely agree--and just like druv I was defending my language and laying it's feature set out on the table to show both its perks in my opinion and its faults. The people I'm sick of are those who say things like "Yeah, you should use pithon because it has bla bla bla bla bla... " and so on.  I've already pointed out that pure basic is not good for program development. It is good for audio games, and I say that because I'm using it, danny uses it, and ghorthalon uses it. But the thing is, even bgt and pithon are good, but I don't use them, so I'm not going to say good about them. But by no means will I attempt to get some one to use pure basic; use pithon if you want, it really doesn't matter. I'm just laying out, just like Druv, the perks of the language I feel comfortable with. . As a result, this is 
 why I will post no more on this... debate, is that what it is? I don't reccon so.

Hello guys,I have a somewhat problem with jaws if we can call it a problem.I use jaws 16 and Microsoft word 2010 in my school. Since I am at the school of linguistics, or the school of foreign languages, I need to swich between languages frequently. For example, I have to change between English and later Italian.Also I study German and I’m used to listen to the built-in Eloquence in German. I can’t use another one, not because it doesn’t work, but I don’t understand it well.Unfortunately, I am unable to set the language proofing to any language apart from English, for a reason that I don’t know.So I want to make jaws read in German whenever I need. How can I do it? Jaws reads only in English, since it doesn’t detect another language in Microsoft word or Excel.Could anybody help me to fix this? I would really appreciate it.Thank you for your answers.

Hi folks,I know there are multiple topics discussing this game and I'm probably posting into the wrong one, but I didn't feel like searching through them all in a rush or reading up to the end of one that may have who knows how many posts already, so sorry about that.I became interested in this game only recently when I read an article discussing its original release for iOS. I have always loved the Mortal Kombat series but was able to play and enjoy it only until the Deadly Aliance part. I had a friend with a PS2 back then but unfortunately we are no longer in contact. At that time my PC was too old to run any of the newer Mortal Kombat games fluently and I didn't feel like getting the older ones or officially purchasing the new installments.Later, I was discouraged by the fact that these games were all released only on Steam for the PC, if I got it right. I am slowly inclining towards the decision to change this attitude and take a look at Steam
  to see how it goes. When quite a lot of VI gamers did this before me, I can do it as well. :-DSo, I'd like to ask about the iOS version. Has anyone tried it and is it at least semi-accessible at all? I'd really love to play Mortal Kombat on my iPhone, although I'm expecting that my trusty old 4S won't probably be able to handle it at all. :-)And what about the PC version? Is it really available only through Steam? Are there any key differences in gameplay, accessibility or design between the PC and iOS ports?I hope it can be played through the keyboard only as I don't currently have any console controller available. I do have an old Thrust gamepad but that's not able to run on my Windows 7 64-bit.Which of the two versions is generally better, or could be recommended when compared to the other, in your opinion?Many thanks for an answer in advance,Lukas
