Bathroom appliaces for blind/VI users

Hello Everyone,My friend studies industrial design and at one subject he was asked to come up with something clever about bathroom appliances (sorry for misspells if any). So he remembered me, and asked me whether the blind have any trouble at bathroom. We came to a conclusion that the biggest problem is finding/organizing your items in the bathroom. We were discussing ways of marking bins for special types of laundry (white, different colours), or marking the washing machine with a dial showing which program youre about to use etc. Im wondering whether you have any ideas if something could make the user experience better for the blind. IMO I dont think that you are really learning BGT. The problem is that you copy and paste the code; I think that you should write it by hand, even if its only two new lines of code. You have to understand what you are writing, what it does, and how everything works  its really like a LEGO game its cool to follow a little assembly plan to make a car, but when you want to make your own, you just dont know how to do it. And programs are infinitely more complex than LEGO plans, so theres a point where people just cant tell you write this, and this, and this, and it will work

Hi.I cant help much with the breeze. But if you can get your hands on it, Id highly recommend the apple watch for maps.Personally, I feel the breeze is a bit to big for my liking and the maps arent updated as much, or they werent last time I used one. This was a couple of years back and Ive herd theyve updated the breeze since then. But saying that, just because the breeze isnt for me, doesnt mean it wont be for you. If you get use out of it and feel it really helps,then thats awesome.

Hello,@avedgamer: you can download as many packs as you want, no beatcoins get used. However, once downloaded they need to be unlocked by playing the game, and getting at least 5000 beatcoins. All downloading a pack does is basically put the pack in the games pack directory. To delete it, you just go to the packs directory and delete any that you dont want.#I got to a point where I had a hundred thousand beatcoins so could download and then unlock packs immediately. Im now down to twenty two thousand because I unlocked so many packs, so Ive got plenty left over ready for the minigames, and also more packs.

If you want dark, Id be willing to help you reinstall windows 7 on your pc. Ive done this several times remotely, so if you want to upgrade but dont want to, dont hesitate to ask me.btw, the interface in windows 7 really isnt that bad. Its been a while since I used xp, so I dont remember all of xp, but the only thing that has really changed is the start menu, and now that Ive gotten used to it I like it a lot more than the windows xp one. For example, I just type in play, and then press enter and topspeed 3 opens. on my old machine full of programs and garbage, I had to go to programs with p, hit p about 10-15 times, then expand etc.That said, you can always use classic shell and bring the windows xp start menu back.

All the iOS 7.1 Siri voices are available for NVDA in addition to Aaron and Nicky (iOS 7.0). The new Siri voices names are:Australian: Gordon and KatherinBritish: Martha and ArthurFrench: Marrie and Daniel (Daniel isnt available for NVDA since on Andre Louiss site, it says he couldnt get Daniel to work since that would cause conflict if the British Daniel voice was installed)Japanese: Hattori and O-renSorry, cant remember the others.

As my name has been mentioned, I did 2 of those raider missions with 180 raiders and 200 crates in the Strip mall. The first was to find out how elite legion were doing them for a month back to back, and I reported the findings to Aprone. I did the second one for fun. As I write, Hellfier has just completed a venting tower raider mission 200 crates and Kilimir has sat on the same mission with 0 crates. The food rewards are 73000 food each thats over 4 million XP between them. Hellfier put on 50 levels yesterday doing similar, thats around 20 million XP in one day. Please do not think I am accusing them of cheating, but if anyone forwards information to Aprone that leads to a ban for these players then I will pay a years subscription to any account of their choice.

Unfortunately that might be the case, low vision games really dont have much of an outlet even hear.Sol Sounds awsome, its odd, whenever people bring up low vision access the only thing that gets talked about is colour blindness, and while thats obviously a problem there are other things going, contrast, complexity, character size not to mention being able to set optionns without need of a mouse or read them with a screen reader.That is why the number of games I could play plummeted down from actually a reasonable number in the 16 bit era to almost none in the 32 bit era (pretty much just one on one beatemups and the one or two 2D platformers on the ps1 like the later Mega man x games and pandemonium). A situation which only got worse, indeed these days even beatemups are dicy due to annoying 3D contrast issues and often use of a full 3D story mode.There are totally blind people who play beatemups by learning sound kew
 s alone, though for me that always feels like way too much frustration which is why these days most of the games I play (other than those on my Snes, mega drive and various gb models thanks to the gamecube and gb player), are audio or text. Then again there are one or two pc games Ive had lots of fun with, such as the T2002 Turrican remake and its many additional levels, and the very awsome rocks n diamonds puzzler. There probably are more out there but I found the process of wading through many games to look for something playable a bit disheartening, especially sinse these days many have gone onto steam which is a most unfriendly platform for screen readers. Still, all the more reason why Sol would be a good thing.

Lol, that was actually posted at the right time, since weve ran the server all night, and not a single crash has happened, with the acception of my broken code earlyer when I was testing the tram system, but were back to normal, and with no lag, server side! So, we invite everyone to come and enjoy! Im working on for the 1.0 release of the client, darks requested comet mining system. The firestar planet cracker is currently the only vessel capable of such a task, as it comes built in with its own tram system, asteroid processer, comet mining, and planet splitting for uninhabbited planets, and its capable of asteroid mining, as well as the deep space way of planet cracking, not the old boring way were all so used too. For thoughs of you wundering what the asteroid processer is, basicly theirs a collection beam on the bridge. You use this next to an asteroid with a gigantic resource count that would take ages to mine by conventional means. T
 he asteroid is hoisted into the gigantic bay of the firestar planet cracker, which is the asteroid processing facility. Once their, you can then mine the resources from it with ease, and these resources will actually be for constructing starships and buildings on planets. Currently, ive got the asteroid processer operational, but the collection beam seems to shoot asteroids in a random pattern, which im working on as its ment to bring them directly into the asteroid processing bay. In other news, the tram system is coming along well. They can move across the firestar with ease, and its possible to call them now at any station where the tram arrives.

As a side note, Ill be testing the games via Chrome OS once the developer makes them available in the Chrome Web Store, as Android apps.That being said, the Android platform version of the full library of games, I mentioned, somewhere around here? works well. If I may ask a question...Given the work that Im putting into this game, how many of you are actually planning to donate? I personally agree that upgrading your O S is the best option here. Even windows 7 can get virused up and its not hard to do, so its pretty clear that xp is... extremely vulnerable. I agree that having to upgrad the OS is extremely absurd, its basically like these companies taking more and more and more money because they know you use their products so want to force you to upgrade. But its necessary, thats all I can say. because if whatever antivirus or defender you use is supported now, give it a year or two, it wont be. Now Im not telling you what to do here, Im just trying to let you know, as others have, that this is really the best option.

i know anything can be a class. one thing i really liked was that in my tutorial i was learning from at http://learnpythonthehardway.org the guy said when figuring out what classes youll need for a project use nouns from your game and the verbs that those nouns do should be methods within those classes. i really like that idea so im running with that right now. as this is my first big project i know im not going to stick to this way of doing things. hopefully my coding will get better and more refined as i work on it more and discover what does and doesnt work for me. im running with this now. so in my example players do all the rolling dice, moving around the board, buying and selling properties; so it makes no sense to shove that over into a board class. my code has also expanded as well since this version posted above. my board is now apart of the session class and is a list of square objects; su
 bclassed to be properties, railroads, utilities, etc.the reason i have my change_turn method like i do so that its flexible and can take many different numbers of players. once i clean my code up more and make everything working like its supposed to, ill not have the players hard coded into the source code. ill get input from the player as to how many players he or she wants and all that sort of stuff. i also eventually want players to be able to play over the internet with their friends, be able to play locally on the same computer, or if i can code a good AI system, against computer opponents. but now, i just want to even see if i can even code a monopoly game. i have a few more things left to add. im working on implementing rent being charged when a player lands on an owned property. i want to get that solid because the things i need to put in after that depend on rent working well: buying houses and hotels. and obviously paying rent on those i
 mproved properties. the chance and community chest decks are already in the session class i just need to code the card objects to fill them. and i also need to add mortgaging properties, selling houses, and a check to see if someone goes bankrupt and needs to be removed from the game. while monopoly does seem like its an eternal game, it actually isnt. loli dont know if its the fact i just dont understand return all that well, but i just couldnt think of anything that would work in place of those global vars. i need to use them across the different methods to keep track of values.while i initially reject the idea that functions should be limited to 10 lines, ill see what i can do with it. as long as its commented well and the word choice of names for things isnt overly obscure, i think any pythonian should be able to follow whats going on. i do understand the need for well-written optimized code, just as long as your 
 not doing all of this extraneous stuff that isnt needed in a function; taking up CPU power and what not. refine it, get it down as small as you can and as long as its staying on topic as it pertains to the function you should be good. just my opinion guys. no need to call the python police on me if im trashing python laws or anything.

When were talking washers and dryers, if youre using the kind with knobs, we have to mark ours with puff paint, putting a dot at the different settings. We actually had the maintence guy come and rip off a covering around the knob, because the plastic spun freely, preventing us from marking settings. Even then, even if you made those appliances with bumps on them already, you would still have to get someone to tell you what the dots meant. Maybe some kind of raised symbol system, a universal design would be good. A symbol for delicates, and so on.They make talking scales already, which is nice. As for determining colored clothes vs whites, thats an ongoing battle. I havent yet met a color identifyer that worked well. Some people go the route of sewing braille labels or variously shaped buttons to the inside hem of their clothing, a triangular button meaning one color, a square another. Again, some universal design for a tactile system on clothing tag
 s is one idea, various textures or bumps to signify the colors. But thats getting away from the specific bathroom area.Im having a little trouble thinking of bathroom appliances I have an issue with. I know its always awkward to go into a public bathroom alone, like in an airport. Where are the sinks? Where are the stalls? Im just going to walk along the front of them and touch doors until I find an open one. What if a stall is out of order? How do we know that unless we happen to feel the sign on the front of the stall?I cant really think of any other issues at the moment. Maybe others will have ideas!

Im not sure I can manage anything like that right now. For one thing, copyrighting something requires something tangible to protect, and that, sadly, I dont have, unless you count the first (very very rough) drafts of the manuscripts of one and a half books which I wrote before I decided to skip the novelling and get straight to the gaming.I did consider beta testing my game on here once there was enough of it to play, but Im still on the fence about that, and it does require me to have something to test. It would be nice if someone who had lots of experience with BGT could help me out with my idea, but Im not going to get my hopes up, and I still do have to trust them. I trust some of the guys on the Tactical Battle mailing list but none of them use BGT.

Im not as certain ofthat kyleman. the readme is detailed, but its not got too many tips, plus as with most of Gmas instructions, the readme is rather dence and while it has all the information you could ever want, it doesnt put it in a particularly easy to swallow format. Dont get me wrong, I love Gmas games and am looking forward incredibly to any new releases, but Im sometimes not convinced that explanation of complex concepts is exactly David Greenwoods forte, exceptional though his games are.

Like naugtur said on another thread : My idea for an engine is to provide a way to build the world declaratively, from objects having position, dimensions and sounds, and control them in an event-based environment. So, instead of working on an array and deciding everything in every iteration of your main loop, youd declare a sound to play on collision with the object and never worry about it again. Interactive items could have sounds attached to events, and youd just trigger events on them.At this moment, if you want to make a complete game with it, you may be a little bit limited, and programing will never be erased from the game development. If you want a new special actor, you will have to program.So, because it is in an early stage, you will still have to program a lot of actors, and a lot of feature are unfinished. But you can already try some demos and begin programing with it. Upgrading to new versions of the engine for a project is alm

Like naugtur said on another thread : My idea for an engine is to provide a way to build the world declaratively, from objects having position, dimensions and sounds, and control them in an event-based environment. So, instead of working on an array and deciding everything in every iteration of your main loop, youd declare a sound to play on collision with the object and never worry about it again. Interactive items could have sounds attached to events, and youd just trigger events on them.At this moment, if you want to make a complete game with it, you may be a little bit limited, and programing will never be erased from the game development. If you want a new special actor, you will have to program it.So, because it is in an early stage, you will still have to program a lot of actors, and a lot of feature are unfinished. But you can already try some demos and begin programing with it. Upgrading to new versions of the engine for a project is

Hey,thanks for the reply! Yes I guess it was rather vague, I apologise for that. Basically, I am not sure if you are aware, but a year ago I worked on creating an audio-only game. Well this research is being furthered and I am looking to venture in to how audio can assist people with visual impairments.As this is a research project, I would like to keep it a bit more private than posting questions and answers online, which I am sure you can understand. I will donate. However, can there be a learn actions menu for the beat box game in particular? Also, I know Im in minority here and that this may take the challenge away from the game, but can actions for the beatbox game in particular be mapped? I have CP and had a stroke when born, so having to play with one hand. I managed to work around the default layout of beat star packs, but beatbox may pose more of an issue.Just my thoughts. Hi. Just for a bit of fun for anyone inclined to rhyming, and because I happen to think this custom is rather cool, how about people have a go at describing themselves via identification rhyme.This was a custom I found out about when looking up information on Alfred Besters book the stars my destination (alternately titled Tiger Tiger). You can read about them Here But basically its a four line rhyming poem with name, dwelling place and destination, they were popular in the 18th and 19th centuries in America, (apparently they existed in England as well though Ive not come across them previously). So one example might be Everytown is my dwelling-place,America is my nation,John Smith is my name,And Christ is my salvation. the one used in Besters novel reads: Gully Foyle is my name, and Terra is my nation, deep 
 space is my dwelling place, the stars my destination. My own goes:My name is Dark lights younger son, An ivory tower my home, I live within a dream of stars, I journey on alone.

Hmmm, interesting question. As compared to someone with mobility problems, there isnt really a lot I can think of in a bathroom that causes an issue sight wise. However, it does occur to me that if were talking industrial design, ie, design of the fittings themselves there are various improvements that could be made in the area of labels and locations. For example, those occasions when you have to use a shower at a hotel, swimming baths or whatever and dont know which way on the knob is hot an cold. This is okay if you have room to stand outside the shower and test, however there are occasions when that isnt the case and Ive had several lovely experiences getting into a shower and alternately freezing and boiling .In the same way, trains in britain now have braille labels all over the place for things like the chain and the door cont
 rols, which is a good idea, however the dam labels are no where near the associated fittings! Indeed, the label for the open and close door buttons is on the opposite wall from the door .Perhaps some tactile arrows would be in order? For your own bathroom at home, one idea that occurs to me might be some labled water proof despensor tubs for various bathroom necessities like shower gell, shampoo and bath stuff, sinse the dam stuff always comes in different shaped bottles and if you have several there is a habbit to forget which is which, Ive certainly before washed my hair with shower gell or filled up my bath with shampoo, oh, and yeah, real men can enjoy baths! look at the Romans! conquered half the known world and had the finest army in history, and! smelled nice! (also they ate door mice and thought violent death was entertaining, but Ill go with th
 e not smelling like pigs bit as the reason for their success) .As to laudnry I personally use bumpons on the washing machine for the programs I need which works well, and I can see enough colour to do lights and darks, although I have far more dark clothes than light and most of the seriously expensive stuff I have is dry clean anyway. I would personally recommend keeping your laundry basket in whatever place you tend to get changed sinse there is a very direct relationship between distance to laundry basket and quantity of lost clothing (especially socks), mine is in the bottom of my wardrobe in my bedroom so I can just chuck stuff streight in there. One consequence of having a guide dog is that I often use disabled toilets, sinse trying to get me and reever into a cubical isnt fun, (neither is trying to stand up in the gents with reever round one foo
 t). In Britain anyone with a disability can apply for a disabled toilet universal key which can unlock any disabled loos in public places like stations and shopping centers. These have all the rails for people with mobility problems, but also are far larger, actually theyre often a great place to feed my dog as well if Im out in public for a long period.

also to let everyone know thanks to Guillem we will soon have talking dosbox having the dos screen readers pass their output through NVDA screen reader. You put it to sleep first with in laptop mode capslock shift z. But I am not sure if it will still require you to have com0com, python27 and pyserial installed or not.

Well, now that fishing has been added, Im thinking about coming back to this game. Now that theres something else to do besides slaughter helpless people all day, I can see an actual point to playing.Just thinking about it idly, though, I was wondering if there are any plans to add deep sea fishing as well? That would be really cool, because, while youre sailing on the sea to the radiated city, that would give you another reason to go out there. Not to mention, bigger fish, which could decrease your hunger by bigger increments.Also, if youre walking in the stream, it might be realistic to add the ability for the fish to bite you as they swim past.

Hello all!So me and lucas are making a new game, weve been making it for a while, and I just thought Id tell you guys about it before the full release so you could add features in the first version or something.Streets of chaos is a sidescroller, of course taking place on the street, can you guess what you do?No, seriously, have a guess.Alright, you dodge cars!but theres more than just that, there has to be.You also have birds that can peck you, taking off your hp as soon as we put in hp, items that give you ammo, and guns to shoot down those pesky cars and birds!Future plans include:Adding hp, Im sick of those birds killing me.Cops in a helicopter and they can send down troops with guns when you shoot!Extra items, other than ammo or weapons.And more cheats?Ha ha ha ha ha! Yes i said more cheats!The game is heavily populated with cheats, you auta see what that thing can do.
 You will really have to squeeeze to get the cheats out of me, because Im not providing a text file right off the bat like that! trust me, if I did, you guys would cheat more than the dev, and thats saying something!The game is coded in bgt, in 1.5D.1.5D meaning booleans for jumping and ducking, yes you duck birds, and not actual y coordinates.Anybody have a suggestion? Im thinking of using ambience x for random horns or something.

See the thing is, when you really think about it, as of now our inventories have no real value. I mean ok, so you manage to get 800 pots, like I have over time. But if you die and restart again, theres nothing preventing you from getting it all back eventually. So Id be willing to make that relatively small sacrifice if it meant as much of an improvement as you say it will be.

Sam, the game currently is an early alpha stage. In this stage, the players cant be exquisite with things like that.If for the good future of the game all accounts must be reset, you dont ask to us if we aprove this reset. You only do this change. Do every change that you consider that are good, and if you want that us give you a opinion of a feature, ask respecting the feature itself. Not about the sacrifice of current and without value accounts.In resume, you should to implement this new awesome inventory.A! If is possible, try to add with the new inventory a more equipment. With the currently inventory system, you only can equip things in your hands. But... what about the torso, shoulders, foots, legs, arms, head, etc? I want put in my head a helmet made with clay...Yes, is very fragile, but looks awesome xdIn summary, you should implement this new system. Dont ask, only do this. Good job!

Hi.Writing tones and stuff in gwbasic is fun.The only limit I can find is it only allows one noteat a time.Im thinking of trying to make it play take me out to the ball game.I wonder if its possible to copy and paste from within dosbox. Hello, everyone. I wanted to tell you about something that ive been wanting to do for a while now for the ghood of the game. I want to recode my inventory and item system. This would allow things like... notes, you could get a revolver with 6 bullets instead of one, pots would have to dry, all items would have descriptions, things could have real names, etc. I know how I would do it but heres the thing. It would reset all inventories to default, and thats whare im concerned. I can give people there things sometime but the new inventory system will be incompadible with the old one so reseting inventories would be a must. You could drop pots with water in them, etc etc etc, it would add so so much more possibility to the game, and this is why I never wanted to release this early in the first place. I am leaning twards doing it but I dont want people to get angry about an inv reset. What do you say. We all sacrophise our inventories for the games greater good?
  Or we keep our inventories and not have half the features I was ploanning to add and things ive gotten from ideas. Like for example, Justin T, also known as bones on stw recommended stew, and instantly a million ideas popped into my mind. I mean folks, what if... what if we could take verious food items, water mixxed with fish mixxed with all other things, amagin what that could do. You could make a stew that makes people gag from the offle taste, you could make a stew that was very filling and awesome then trade it for things, etc. I could make it so you could write notes, send messages in boddles down the stream, etc with the new inventory system I want to put in place. But like I said, it would kill everyones inventories. What do you say...

Or the name itself of beatstar.The beatstar game is a game of beats an coordination, and this minygames are... am... Minygames xd.I think that youve to reorganise the project (for a future) all of this minygames (and future more) In a great, and giant Oriol Party.This game, you can play with more people, and... I dont know. You can follow the concepts of nintendos party games, with some characters moving on a board throwing dices, and in the end of a turn, the players have to play minygames, like that. Beatbox, beatstarincluding minygames of beatstar or football, etc etc etc.All of this games that youve done have a full potential for a great party game.And... IDk why Im talking to you in english, si ambos somos ispano hablantes nativos. pls para mí xd.Well. This is my suggestion. For now, continue developing this awesome minygames and please ting my suggestion for a near future.All of this games are better included on a party game, instead on a ritm game.A, other suggestion. The futbol game is interesting, but is better if you do that the game will be dynamical. I explain. At the same time, the goal keeper and the player move at the same time focusing the shoot, and directing the shoot. And of course, in the moment when the shoot is performed, the goal keeper can throw to one of the sides to try catch the goal.This all instead of choose the direction and the catching on a menu.And... well, this is all. thanks for your work, oriol.
