What's that got to do with online games? The only flash games I can think of are ones like the blind swordsman and Gamevial, which are self voicing. Indeed, I found it easier to download the blind swordsman and just run it rather than play online sinse even with supernova's ability with flash controls the website wasnn't too friendly.

Well I'll just say good bye and good luck, and for my part if you ever fancy taking up games again or returning to this forum in the future, you'd be most welcome. On a purely practical level however I will say it bothers me if people have been behaving so badly on this forum, sinse that means myself and the other mods haven't been doing hour job. "The blind community!" at large frankly I don't give a monkeys about, (indeed I have my own reservations about such), however this forum and the audiogames.net community is! my concern, so I hope nobody on this forum has done anything personal and if so I'd rather know about it to deal with it irrispective of whether you wish to leave or not. Btw, sinse as per the last three weeks I now have found my someone (who happens to be blind, a fact which surprised both of us), I do hate the thought of insults being levelled at a member's significant other.

One question about returning to your home town. What happens if you change regions? Is the town preserved and can you still go home whenever leaving a region?Wh
 at I'd suggest personally is that so long as you are in the same region as the town, you can go home when you finish that region, but if your in another region, to go home will take you one region to get back to. To put this a little less confusingly, lets say my home town were in the spongebob desert. When i  exit spongebob desert, I get the choice of which region to go to or whether to go back to my home town, which I could do instantly. If however I decided to explore the candyfloss craters rather than go home, once I exited the crators, the game would say "your way back home takes you across the Rotgut ruins" and I'd need to complete those ruins in order to get back home, (and only by clearing those ruins, I couldn't exit early).Of course theoretically I should have to go through the spongebob desert to get back to my home town, however having to go through the same region over and over again could be rather boring.

 r boring.Similarly, theoretically it should take the same number of regions to get home as I crossed from it, but in practice what would then happen is people would just spam the region choice at the end of the current region to get new ones instead of progressing, so making it one region to clear to get home once you've left your home town's region probably is the best way around, and if that region you need to clear is a titan hellzone death region of doom,  well such is the way in the Wastes! .

Yeah. That part makes absolutely no sense since they don't even know who that is in most cases. But I suspect it's just trolls, and usually those people say whatever they can to make people as mad as possible. Those insults I'm sure aren't actually directed at the significant other, instead they are a perfect way to get someone angry. It always works, 100% of the time.

It's a shame that every community has shameless people who will go out of their way to make it worse for everyone, perpetuating stereotypes and the like that need not exist.  Interestingly enough, sometimes, I still feel like I'm looking in from the outside, though I don't really think that's any one person's fault.

It would be neat if you were able to type in the price for an item. Right now pressing plus or minus will increase/decrease the list price for an item by $0.25. This can be very annoying if the proposed price is say $1,600, and you want to raise it to $2,200, because your marketing team claimed the most anyone would be willing to pay is $2,219, and you don't want to let the opportunity of getting $600 more pass by. Hence, you raise the price, but the way it works at the moment you hold down the plus key for a while until you are satisfied with the price you think it's eventually supposed to cost. Little price changes are of course no problem to make.

Hello everybody.Honestly, I'm starting to dislike this more and more and more, and I'm starting to feel this as a personal attack to us rather than a valid serious reason. Yesterday, we managed to enter again using different accounts, and changing IP address by turning off the router, nothing complex than that; Well for me it was not actuallly easy to turn it off since its in the seccond flor of this building and I live on the third flor, but luckily they had to turn it off   for a while. My 2 friends who had nothing to do with that audio did the same, but in their case they managed to logged in with old accounts they had.We were at a free table just chilling, having a good time and being greeted by those who wanted us back, the mojority of the people I must say, and all of a sudden one of the persons being heard in the audio appeared from the shadows, throwing rocks at us and trying to acuse us of ciber bullying and a few other things. Many, but ma
 ny times I told this person I didn't wanted to discuss about this any more, and I let him know that I' didn't wanted anything to do with him and his friends.Finally and to end this up, while we were again having a good time at another free table, me and my friends got re banned but this time with the following reasons: Creation of an unworthy audio! oh nice, well well well, now they started to recognize things, and instead of letting us in, they just changed the reason from obscene audio to just unworthy audio, to  make things sound  just a bit soft.Again, all I feel here is that this is something personal against us, I feel there's too much haitrid involved. A few guys didn't liked us when we were at the playroom including them, and not because we are the worst rats in the platform, but just because we are like we ar. Oh and the worst rats in that side of the platform are still there, unbanned, and nobody tells them nothing, nobody kic

I have the numpad keys but it doesn't work... when I press it it just tells me the path of the file and the file name like this: d:\downloads\warsim.exe that's all what it reads... moving with the numpad numbers just gets me out of the object. if I go in the object with nvda + numpad 2 I have other objects like the system menu and the scrolling menu and that's all.

@aminiel: Don't  you think I tried doing that many times? I clarified everything, even on a talk show, I explained lots and lots and lots of times that it wasn't intended to harm anybody. Hi Aprone, it would be cool if you could hit something like control-backspace on an item to just hear the price at which your research team thinks the customers will buy it for, without all the added fluff of the descriptions, and surveying thousndas of customers. It's just an aesthetic thing, because if I hear 2 numbers immediately after each other, I can compare them more easily. And then I can compare more sets of numbers to figure out the best ways to stock my aisles.

Thanks Viktor, I forgot about that. I realized that those combinations are only listed under the "introduction" section, but not under "game keys". While I did read the whole readme, adding those keys to the "game keys" section would help keep an overview of all keys available, if you forgot any and had to look them up, IMO.

Sneak, I'm writing that one down for sure.  It would be a nice addition to the game.Blasting gd, yeah you'll definitely benefit from the shift, ctrl, and alt keys when adjusting prices and things.  It tells about them in teh readme but I don't know if the actual game says anywhere about that.KeyIsFull, I have written that down as well.  I like the idea.I have had a handful of suggestions come in through email as well, so I think the next update will have a good number of fun changes in it.  It is looking like I won't be able to get any code done today (I couldn't yesterday either) because of real life stuff.  Doesn't real life understand that shopping at U-Mart will save them hundreds on all of their electronic needs?!  Like this theater TV for example, only $1100!  Buzztech electric oven for $850, when anywhere else you'd pay 9!I May have played this game a bit too much.

Great game! I thin it would e nice if changing the prices for items was an edit field instead of having to keep hit plus and minus. It be cool if you could pick shop hours, and if there was music while your custamers shopped. How about adding custamer serviss to handle lost items, and returns? Rewards programs maybe if your store gets bigger. Just ideas and I always wanted a game like this. Thanks for making this!

Hi All!I run a browser-based game, Grendel’s Cave that has been on-line since 1998.  I based the game on the Old English poem, Beowulf.  I recently adapted the game into text-only versions that may be playable by VI gamers using screen readers.  That was my intention, but I would like help testing the interfaces by experienced VI gamers.There are two text-only interfaces.  The first uses a form, with select inputs, a text input field and links.  You use this interface to navigate through the world of Grendel’s Cave.The second text-only interface is command line, similar to an old-style MUD.  It has text on the page followed by a command line text input field, into which you enter your text command, in natural English, and press enter.  The game executes your command and then presents you with a new page of text that includes the results of your action and asks you for another command.To try out Grendel’s Cave go to GrendelsCave.  To start playing, click on the Thane link. On the Thane page, you can start a new character and account in the game.  Fill out the form and click on Start new thane.  On the kingdom selection page, I recommend starting in the beginner’s kingdom.  Simply click on Enter Grendel’s Cave and you are in.  The game presents you with a lot of information about Heorot Hall, your starting location.  You can type Help and hit enter in the input field to get a list of commands you can enter to alter your interface.  I usually use All Off to simplify my display, so I only see the most crucial information.  To navigate in the text only interface you click on the thing that you want to interact with.  For example, to leave Heorot Hall click on door and you will exit to the countryside.  You have three select lists.  You can select from these lists to alter what happens when you click on something.  The game is similar to a MUD, in that the fun of the game is exploring the world and discovering new areas, new things, new monsters and how things work.  If you wish to try out the command line interface, type Change UI to Command and hit enter.  The game presents a page of text describing your situation and a command line, into which you can enter natural English commands.If you try out the game, and have comments, criticisms or suggestions please send me feedback.  I will answer all questions and am eager for suggestions, recommendations and help making my game more enjoyable and playable for the VI gaming community.One quick note, your thane must have some value to be saved when you go to sleep, otherwise the game will remove it.  To gain value, simply kill at least one monster.  Then, when you sleep, your thane will be saved and you can play with it again when you wake it up.Thanks so much, in advance, for your help,Beowulf

If you are making it just for laughs and what not sure. However I don't think it would be the right thing for pre-schoolers. Children learn best when mimicking and hearing other peers voices. Also the lack of emotion would not be good at that young of an age when they are developing emotions, and their speech patterns. For example there is this show called Caillou when my cousin watches it and other kids in the pre-school age they tend to become winey mimicking Caillou. There's this other show about British speeking animals and now my cousin sometimes talks with a British accent which is really cute. Something you should be aware of if you intend on using the actuall songs for pre-schoolers as that age is crittical for development.

Aminiel, I tryed several times to solve the problem in private but all the time the admin made bad jokes and 'do'n't want to listen my point of view. Hi turtlepower17I'm unsure of this one. I think if you use NVDA on your computer it should have backed up your settings and once NVDA was upgraded it would keep all settings as they were before.Unless you did a complete install of windows 10 in witch, as far as I know, all programs are deleted and you have to put them back on to the lalptop or PC.I, personally, would really like a phonetics mode for NVDA.I've sent a couple tweets to NVDA but got no reply. I'm thinking of emailing them if there's no change within the next update.I've just taken a quick look, if you go to appdata; roming; then the NVDA folder, you should find a folder called speech dics. There's nothing in there for me, but that could be because I've done nothing with the dictionary's. I'd recommend making a backup of that folder and putting it in appdata\roming\nvda if you need to update Windows again.

Some free sound recordings my wife made for anyone to use.

Hi.Perhaps I'm just stubborn or old, but I just gave window eyes a go for about fifteen minutes after setting it up and went straight back to NVDA.Some problems I found, that I'm sure could be fixed if I played around with window eyes a bit more:1. It would seem that the first part of dialog boxes are read and that's it.I found I could press the numpad two and eight to read more, but a basic windo eyes user isn't going to know that, are they?2. Once in Firefox there seemed to be know way of me moving around using the arrows. The only way I could move was by using tab. I did set Windo eyes to the insert keyboard layout so that might have something to do with it.3. the control dash? Is that right? Shortcut to open the windo eyes control panel didn't seem to work at all.A couple of things I really liked about windo eyes:1. No more hearing, blank blank blank. That is a feature I really like.2.
  The fact you can change your sounds for progress bars, that's awesome.I'll be sticking to NVDA for now. Perhaps later on in my life, something else will come out. For now though, NVDA is the screen reader for me.

Hi all. I love the game. I was kind of thinking about this game and was wondering if it could be expanded on to actually have the ability of walking around in the store, and stocking. bringing rolltaners from the stock room. calling the delivery trucks for more stock. You could help a customer with finding something. You would have to walk to the register and check someone out when they are ready. I'm just thinking because my wife works at Doller General and she tells me of all the things she has to do there and I would love that kind of thing in a game. so, sorry if this is just a jumble of things, Just brain storming.

To access the WE control pannel, its CTRL-Backslash in default layout, Insert-J if using the Insert-Key Layout. The Insert-Key Layout, can be toggled on/off by CTRL-alt-0.2. By default, Window-Eyes only auto-reads "message" boxes, as "dialog" boxes can be a bit "verbose." Thus, you can read the dialog in full by pressing CTRL-Shift-W if using normal desktop layout, or Insert-B if using Inser-Key Desktop layout.3. @Beowulf, this is great, thanks for this. I actually remember hearing of Grendel's cave a couple of years ago, someone was playing it by clicking on random unlabled images, however that made things very long winded and also not workable with several screen readers. At the time I did create an account myself (which is possibly still active), but I thought requesting that the images be labeled was a bit too large a favour to ask of a developer given that every single monster, item etc was an image, so considered Grendel's cave not to be accessible. I was rather sad about this sinse rpgs, much less ones that function with tactical combat are rare indeed.I'll gladly take a look at the game and see what I can suggest, if as Brad says there is an issue with the labels it should be relatively easy to correct using basic alt tag elements on the appropriate images, though I won't know until I've taken a look , but we'll see. It's also possible your
  command line interface fixes that problem anyway if it converts matters to a descriptive, mud style input, (that'll certainly please interactive fiction and mud fans).@Brad, nope Ajax cannot detect a screen reader or output to Sapi, your effectively talking there of a custom client for the game, which (if it is a standard browser game using usual links etc), should not be necessary, sinse unless there are some funky controls or the like it should be fine with any screen reader capable of navigating your standard web page. Indeed, one advantage to browser games which would be lost if there was a custom client is that they're playable on a huge range of devices and operating systems with any screen reader that can cope with the net. It's possible as I said there is a tagging issue, but such things are usually fairly easy to fix if that is the case.

So I had a shot at this. I dunno if it's just me, but audio doesn't pan at all well when turning with the mouse. I was able to get around snapping to angles, but when turning with the mouse audio just jumps from been panned hard left and right

I was already wanting an xbox1 as soon as rare replay was announced for it, which is a collection of over 30 classic games from my favorite second party microsoft developer, one of them being the n64 version of killer instinct.

@Beowulf, the text looks %100 fine to me. I seemed to need to create an account so have made the account darkempathy, created a thein and headbutted a hippogriff .I do need to read the game instructions, (sinse right now I don't seem to be able to eat the food I've picked up), but that's not a problem with the interface at all, indeed I'll admit I'm well impressed. My only comment would be for those  who want to use the command line, perhaps a command list might help, sinse manifestly they won't have the dropdown combo box with the different actions in it, then agai as I said I need to go and read the main game instructions, I was just checking the interface. @Brad, I don't have enough experience  in Nvda to say what the issue is, but the hotspot labelling here seems no different to that in Puppet nightmar
 es, Drakor or several other games, indeed it all looks like standarde text to me, and the account creation form had no trouble at all. I suspect what you need to do is physically read the page rather than just hammering your tab key, sinse not everything will be usual controls and links, but perhaps someone with more experience of Nvda might be able to give some more information, sinse as I said to me with Supernova things are fine and indeed much like several other accessible browser games I've seen in the past and indeed added to our db.I need to dash off and locate my own bedroll now (hopefully without the nasty monsters), but I'll definitely be back to the cave tomorrow, (or if my insomnea gets the better of me). Thanks again Beowulf for such an awesome fix and making your game accessible.

Dark,You are very welcome.  I wanted to make my game VI accessible for about two years and spent a good five months working on it.  It is important to me to get it right so that the game works and is playable.You can get a general command list by typing help in the command line.  You can type Commands to get all the valid menu commands, Wills to get the I Will commands, Uses to get the Use Item commands and Spells to get the Cast Spell commands.  Keep in mind that the valid commands change according to the situation you are in and the spells that you learn so be sure to request them in different situations, until you know the game well enough to know which ones work when and where.brad,I fixed my label tags on the thane page so they should work now.  I have other labels that I need to fix, too, but I want to make sure my fix really works before I go off the deep end and fix everything else.  I hate to fix something the wron
 g way, if you know what I mean.  Can you check that Thane page again and tell me if the label tags are working for you now?Thanks,Beowulf

Yeah Brad, I know it's cliche, but honestly it's true: RTFM. Seriously, it's good documentation, and it would have answered all your questions. Not saying you weren't brave to give it a go or accusing you of laziness or anything like that, but WinEyes has always been a very self-sufficient screen reader (part of why I really like it, actually). At least go through the tutorial, when you have the chance.

Hello.I'll have to disagree with frastlin copying code isn't good because once you paste and run it you have no idea what it does unless you read it in great detail which can be confusing. Type out all your code so you know exactly what each piece of code is doing. Plus typing it out will save you a lot of time because if you do the copy and paste thing eventually you will have trouble finding spacific code that you need, that you can copy and paste.For example you learn programming by copying and pasting and eventually you need pieces of code to paste because you want to make a 3d audio game. But then you will run into some problems because you won't be able to find the exact pieces of code you need and because you never learned how to type out your code you don't have the spacific skills to make your 3d audio game.So type out your code. Whether you just program as a hobby or plan to be a professional working for google or apple it's a g
 ood idea to type your code out.Hth.

Fatih, that's not gonna work. He doesn't plan on selling the game anymore, yeah, that's true. But he hasn't officially! made it free yet, and until he does, cracks can't legally be distributed. Besides, I doubt this is true but if he really! is leaving the community as a game dev, he wouldn't look kindly on a slap to the face, as that's exactly what cracking the game would be.

I think frastlin might have meant to copy a game, meaning you make your own version of a game that already exists.  So if you enjoy a black jack game, you can sit and come up with code to make game that is just like it.  It still gives you lots of practice, but you don't have to worry about coming up with your own unique game at the same time.  I am only taking a guess, but I think that might have been what he meant.

Hello.I've had no experience making muds. I am used to programming though.I have a few questions. First I got something I think is either the lambdamoo core or database from the prometheus moo's website. How is it used? I can't seem to figure it out I have a whole bunch of .c and .h files but can't figure out what there used for. I want to build a mud but can't figure out how to build with lambda.I did try coffeemud yesterday but I can't figure out how that works either. I read something in the readme about compiling coffeemud with java but I know I'll need the main coffeemud file so that it compiles correctly but can't figure out which one it is.Checking out cencore is on my to do list it sounds straight forward enough.Sorry for all these silly questions but I'm a complete newbie at making muds.

well, would you like every single sound, including wav files, to be loaded into memory and stay there until they close the map? What am I supposed to do, only allow wav? Ultrocity has a bandwidth limit! I don't see any lag, if you see lag, make your source a bit shorter, that's all I can say. Remember how sluggish AAC is when loading stages, it loads them all into memory and it makes some stages nearly unplayable. Be glad it loads on the fly. The only part that might lag a bit, is the load_from _memory that is required to play these sounds. Just deal with it, I can't reduce the lag by this point.

Hello BradS.Okay it's been a long time since I've played entombed but I think I remember how to unlock things.In the bizarre between the second and third floors go to special items category and you can buy the plague card that will unlock the ratkin race. Warning though there is a bug in the game when you buy the plague card you lose the other unlockables if you have any so be careful.The goblin card is unlocked randomly sometimes on the sixth floor sometimes just by fighting goblins on the first few floors. The goblin card will be unlocked.The fortune teller card can usually be unlocked by defeating the drake on the seventh flor or by killing the lish on the 25th floor but you have to have the full version to do that.There is another card that can be unlocked by becoming a ranger healer. Remember once you reach level 2 choose your second job it doesn't matter what order you choose them in ranger healer or healer ranger once you choose 
 the second job the card will be unlocked and it is not necessary to finish the game once the card has been unlocked.There is one last card that can be unlocked by becoming a fighter thief I think it is. Same idea once you unlock you don't have to finish the game like that.Those are all the unlockables I remember I think that's all of them.Hth.

Hi.I've been playing this mud for a few weeks now and it just gets more and more incredible!I've just tried out combat a couple of times and I have failed. I was wondering does anybody have strategies for combat missions? I've tried the first entry level mission where you have to destroy 5 enemy ships but I have failed everytime. My strategy is to move from one side of the map to the other from 1 1 1 to 20 20 20 and wait for the enemy ships to come to me. But that doesn't seem to work they get to me and if I focus on a ship it seems like the other ships get to me before I can attack the focused ship. I've also tried sneaking up on the ships with the sublight drive which I've done in training missions but that doesn't seem to give me any kind of advantage.Any help would be appreciated.
