Norwegian and danish are very much simular, so norwegian would be awesome! So, this is a engine you have bought which contains lots of things which you can build on, or how does it work? Sounds like there are some limits but also a lot of things which makes you able to expand the game or change it.

Re: Swamp, zombie FPS by Aprone

@Turtlepower:I don't find the building helper useful as well, but it works as follows: If you are going deeper into the building, you'll hear the heartbeat at low pitch. If you are going towards the entrence at the building, you'll hear the heartbeat at a higher pitch.People are navigating differently in Swamp and other audiogames. I navigate the same way as others have described above, but I have one more tip which is very useful for me, but not for everyone.I use sidesteps a lot. That means I for example turn north, and stay in that direction when walking. Then, when I need to go east or west, I simply sidestep instead of turning the character. In this way, I find it easier to navigate around.Regarding the wearhouses, I usually keep the direction I'm heading when the mission launches. In complex areas, you can also use the scanners by pressing the arrow keys so you easily can find openings in the walls. Some people also find this
very useful.I hope that helps. Feel free to ask if you have more questions. Swamp takes a while to learn. We have all been there.

Re: Upcoming Stream of a new game called, "Undead Assault"

Hi.I have heard most of the stream, which leads me to some questions:1: Are there any reasons for you can't join more than 4 players to one server?2: Do you have plans for something in the future, where you can level up your character like in Swamp, which motivates people to keep playing for levels etc? Or is this game only ment to be a quick game, and not something where you can keep building up your character like in Swamp?3: Do we have to host our own servers, or do we have to create a server on a main server, like create a room where the other players can join?4: Will there be more maps than the map you demonstrated, and will it be possible to make your own maps?I think that's the questions for now. I look very much forward to hear more about the game.

Re: way to manage amazon cloud drive accessibly?

BTW, if it's because you need Kindle storage, you don't need the Amazon cloud drive for that. You can set up an email address to which you email the documents you want in your library, and delete them from the Kindle web UI. That is how I got introduced to their inaccessible cloud drive. Just make sure you say that you don't want copies of your docs stored in the drive folder; that way you can manage them directly from the Kindle website. Not that I use Kindle much anymore either; DRM-free is the way to go.

You can emulate the PC speaker in software, including bootloaders. Obviously the real question is who is going to do the work, and why. For virtual machines, though, this works; Macs don't have speakers either, they're just virtualised.

Re: Where do you get your music?

@gene: Mp3va.com sells tracks $0.15 a piece normally, and albums are in the dollar/two dollar range depending on how long they are. They are based in Ukraine, which is why the 3-tear pricing structure you have in Us/Uk stores doesn't apply to them. Think of the price as the digital version of buying used cd's at a thrift-shop. Don't let the previews set you off. They are made low quality intentionally as a security measure so people don't go grabbing them and recording/using them. When you buy songs, the quality is impressively right at or even above the the standards of the shops we know. The quality goes from 128khz to 320khz. Rarely will you ever get  a 128khz, unless it's an extremely old song, for example a digitized vinyl. Most all the songs you'll find there are at least 256k, and newer ones are most likely 320k. I say screw getting music from Amazon. They keep advertising their inaccessible cloud player, and you can't always trust th
e web downloads to always be available. This is why a straight-off music shop like mp3va is a good idea, because they have no software to be installed, it is entirely web based. Plus the availability of bonus tracks in albums when they wouldn't be available on itunes. AS for accessible playlist creation, I'd say Pulse Mp3 Player, but the legal situation for that is confusing. Vlc's decent, very accessible, and can create playlist files.

Brailsoft's Music Categorizer didn't last long here.I followed their instructions for setting it up and starting the mp3 scan for files. It gave me an error about a file not having an m3e header or something like that without telling me what file it was. Then it gave me a user interface with nothing but buttons on it and no list of my music files. If that's all it is, it's not worth the $10 their asking for it. So it got uninstalled. The search for an easy to use and accessible music file manager continues.

Re: Where do you get your music?

Rockbox was never intended for blind people; voicing was introduced as a feature because it was wanted by users and developers, so that you don't have to take the player out of pocket to look at it. About the label recording, that can be done with the Rockbox Utility program, no fuss. It scans folders you select automatically and generates the samples, which only take about 1 KB each. I personally don't use them much, but they're not hard to make. The only real downside is that you then have a .talk file with the exact same name for every file generated. @Turtle, there should be a Database option after Files, which will automatically organize everything by ID3 tags so you can search by artist, album etc.I have a 128GB micro-SD card in my Clip which is pretty cool. The only thing to remember, should anybody decide to get one is that Rockbox only supports FAT32, and Windows won't format a drive bigger than 32GB with it. You'll have to use Linux to form
at it, but you should only need to do it once.I don't usually bother with playlists either, I just go by album. There are two albums in particularly that have some of my favorite songs of all time, with the rest of the material being nothing I care for, so that can get kind of annoying, but since they're both albums of the same band I've just created an unofficial album folder with the songs in numbered order.I really don't like those sights that try to pass off Rockboxed players as being made for the blind, and selling them for what was, before production stopped and prices went way up, about twice the price of a normal one. It's literally a 5-10 minute job to get Rockbox installed and configured.

@Ghostrider, first love (and speaking again from very recent experience here), when it is returned and you both feel it can be incredibly powerful, my lady and I are in the same position and the intensity of how much I love her is actively scary sinse it literally physically hurts, so yes, I get it, especially now. That being said, one thing to bare in mind is that simply by virtue of being teenagers your not necessarily in a fixed point in your lives just in terms of where you live and what your doing, however this is something you both need to work out and so long as neither of you takes steps too far there theoretically shouldn't be a problem. I'd personally suggest you to find a method of dealing with the depression and then discuss this situation with your family rationally and responsably, for example, accepting that your family are doing this out of some sense of protecting you. As to teenagers in general to be honest I would not want to draw
any personal conclusions. My own adolescence was anything but usual. In general cultural assumptions about teenagers, and even more especially about male teenagers are prety nuts, but cultural assumptions about most things are pretty nuts and should be packed into the next available gift basket and delivered streight to hell, sinse that's generally where such lead .

Re: clomp clomp clomp!

I think there was an arcade version of Rampage before the Amigar port, but whether that was in turn based on other games I don't know. I've never fancied these online competitive games where you get to be a crime boss or a pirate or whatever, but I've always liked the idea of makinr your evil empire and becoming th evil sorcerer king with your monster hoards . Btw, there aren't any monster based games, but choiceofgames have a free game entitled choice of the dragon, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. It was I believe their first title and does have the disadvantage of rather running on rales and being nearly impossible to fail at, however it does have rather witty descriptions of you as a town ravaging, princess munching, gold hoarding dragon. I'm particularly amused at the start that you can decide whether you want
to have kidnapped a princess or a prince, and whether you follow a traditional female only employment policy on your royal snacks (or randsome victims), or whether you buck the trend and prefer to do princes only, or whether your beastial apitites swing both ways .I've actually played that one a couple of times through and had great fun being either a noble and fairly sporting dragon, and a totally dispicable monster .I also like the fact that if you get the game for Ios, you can get game center achievements too for things like finishing with a high brutality or infamy stat.

rock band 4 song color chart and breakdown

rock band 4 song color chart and breakdown

hello fellow rockersI finally picked up the rock band4 game and guitar on a black Friday special. I have been playing ever since. very disappointed that there is no training mode as of yet which makes this game very time consuming now. well for those that want a bit of help that is not experienced with playing by ear, or a rock band pro, i was going to make a break down of all the colors to play on a song and throw in some tips and tricks. I am going to record myself playing the song while calling out the colors, plus ill throw the colors in a text file if playrs prefer that way.this is going to be a lot of work, so I first want to see how many ppl want me to do this. I know there are already a lot of rock band players that might not even need this help which means ill just scratch the idea if need be. the other project I tried which was making audio walk throughs for games fell through because the sighted ppl I depended on let me down, but this is a project that will be do
ne by me alone so I know it will definitely get done if you guys think its a good idea. I already have one song learned 100percent on the easy difficulty that I can put together a recording and colors for. in the future songs will mainly be played on med or hard difficulty seeing that's the difficulty im most comfortable with. anyway this post has gone on for to long lol just let me know your thoughts ppl

Unfortunately, many features aren't working well, such as DOM browser, and others nice things to countless to enumerate them. But it seems, that it's more accessible than build-in tools for developers in known browsers.

My views are this: I've always seen myself as mature beyond my years. Sure, I may be immature at times, but I'm always concerned about how my intelligence level makes me look. I want to be smart enough where I'm seen as respectable, not an idiot. That aside, my depression is mainly due to losing my Erowyn... I'd do anything to get her back. Many people say that she was my first love and that is not true. I've been searching and searching and she was the treasure I found... And they took that away from me... I fight back tears as I write this because I miss her with a depth that rivals that of my love for her... I truly do love her. I know it.

He's been teased long enough and folks might not be getting a console until the Christmas rush is over, and, also, for goodness sake we've got the pc version incoming as well!

Re: This isn't for attention

That is a major problem, and it's another one of those "fine line" issues. Many teenagers are rebellious, out of control, and yes, immature. And when I say many, I'm not saying it in the since that "most all of them", I mean there are a lot like that. But because of those, and the fact that younger people in a lot of cases don't know how to express their emotions in a civilized manner, they are often misconstrued as childish tantrums, or in other cases, like what seems to be the case with Ghost Rider, attributed to lack of knowledge and wisdom due to a lack of years. And unfortunately, at least here in the states, it works like this. The adults are assumed to know best, especially for those holding parental status. Their decisions are final. And whether or not the teen or child has a say in the matter, (until they leave the parent's home), is dependent on the parent's willingness to listen. Also, I can see what Turtlepower meant in her
post, 26, but I suppose the awkward and dishonorable feelings come from the desire to keep a relationship with "family" and not to let them down.  But I personally believe it's all wrong. I'm under the belief that while discipline and structure are needed, just as with open mindedness and willingness to listen, that there is a such thing as going a bit too far. For example, where I live, it is compulsory, for all children to attend school, and consequences will be faced for not doing so. The problem is, though, there are students there who do not care, and have no desire to be there. I want success for myself, and I want a good education, but some people don't, and show that shamelessly. And while I'm almost certain that they will grow up and regret that, I also believe that if they got the chance to quit school and turn themselves into nothing, they could learn the dangers of the path they plan to take, and it would motivate them to go back
and make something of themselves, versus being told they must, get an education and try to be successful when they clearly don't want to. It might hurt them, but sometimes that's the only good way to learn. And ultimately, in the end, they'll be doing what's right, motivated by past experience.

What I'm really hoping for is that TiVo will make their DVRs accessible. It was really convenient to load it up with the names of programs I liked and let it record them when ever they are aired, then when I want to watch TV, just go look through all the recorded programs and pick something that appeals to me. No need to keep track of what's on and when, the TiVo DVR does that for you.And for those times when you are watching live TV, the TiVo DVR is also recording what you're watching in a 30 minute buffer so you can pause it when you leave to refill your drink or whatever and not miss anything. Or you can rewind it a bit when you do miss something. It makes TV so convenient that TV just isn't TV any more without it.

Re: This isn't for attention

That's pretty much what I was getting at, Dark. When you're a teenager, your outbursts, screwups and general lack of direction are just seen as hormonal imbalances. And, while that may be true to an extent, that can feel highly insulting at the time you're experiencing it, to have people just shrug you off and say that whatever you feel is exaggerated and overdramatic. Because, well, often it is, but does that make it any less valid? I think not. What society should be doing as a whole is a hell of a lot more validating. Not excusing, or coddling, or sugarcoating, but listening with an open mind, but mostly an open heart. Because you just don't know whether that one time you're not there, or that one time you react with sarcasm and cruelty rather than hearing the person out, is the one thing that sends them over the edge.Of course, there are a million and one reasons why that will never happen, the main two (and most important) being that most
people simply don't have that kind of emotional intelligence, and the other one being that you wouldn't want to swing too far in the other direction and become overly permissive or a martyr, trying to save everyone but yourself.

Re: clomp clomp clomp!

I picked up diabolical while it was on offer, I've not played it yet, maybe I shal save it for my eight hours on the plane to the states . As to evil though, yeah, it has it's  attractions. There used to be a game on the amigar called rampage, it was an arcade type game where you played three players, one a giant kingkong style gorilla, one a godzilla like lizard, and one a giant wolf man. You finished each level by smashing up all the buildings on screen, while being attacked by hellicopters and tanks. You could crush cars, eat people fleeing from the buildings for energy, stomp through bridges, lots of fun stuff like that it was awesome! . What was particularly amusing is while pounding the buildings you could get special stuff in them
, like eating giant pot plants inside some huge high rise buildings would let you breathe fire temporarily, or occasionally you would find a bank where you could swallow the gold bars from the safe for temporary invincibility. At the end of each stage the score screen was a newspaper report telling you how many hundreds of millions of dollars worth of damage you caused. I think Diabolical is more a supervillain type of thing, but rampage was certainly fun to play . Another game series I've always wanted to play are the dungeon keeper games. These were sort of like building style games, accept that instead of building a city or a settlement or a theme park, you build a monster filled dungeon. Different monsters could breed making stronger ones, and you could harvest musrhooms and stuff from the rocks. there were missions to do, and occasionally you'd
have heroes enter your dungeon to try and loot it and get treasure, and you could set your monsters on them. Actually, with games like Parkboss and castaways and such now becoming very easily doable in audio, I could imagine an audio version of such a game, that would rock! though of course to make it interesting, like the original dungeon keeper the behaviour of your monsters would need to be a little randomized.

Deng, that's odd. I haven't experienced that, so I'm not sure what the issue is.For 13-3, Deng is right. Turn back away then fly at it again once you're far enough and slower to keep shooting it and it'll eventually explode. But the d key doesn't show you buriers and turbulants, only shows you enemies that are actually enemies; security jets, battleships, etc.

Grmapa - talking map

2015-12-01 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : grzezlo via Audiogames-reflector

Grmapa - talking map

Grmapa is a computer software ,making possible nonvisual browsing of geographic maps with text and sound, instead of graphic. Program works under Windows operating system. It requires a sound card, and screen-reading software for blind users. Currently Grmapa communicates with NVDA, Jaws for Windows, Window-eyes, or - if none of above is running - texts are spoken via default SAPI5 synthesizer. Maps for program can be imported from OpenStreetMap project.Grmapa map file contains 3 categories of geographical informations: points, lines and areas. Points are most frequently roads intersections, and so called points of interest: shops, banks, restaurants, etc. Lines are paths, roads, rivers, boundaries of regions etc. Areas are e.g. forests, lakes, larger rivers, parkings, factories etc. Virtual space of loaded terrain can be compared to giant chessboard. Each of its' box is a square which side is 10 meters long. User's direction is north. Using
arrow keys moves one square in choosen direction.Few squares around user are illustrated by sounds, so it's important to have speakers or headphones properly positioned. Name of object on current square is automatically announced by used screen reader. If it's not enough information, using Space key , we can hear more, e.g. object type, city, region etc. If we're located at line, for example road, direction of this line is automatically spoken. Initial user direction is north. It can be changed at any time.Initial one square size set to 10 meters, can be changed in range from 2 meters (maximum accuracy) to 10 kilometers (viewing huge areas). Using arrows to move around the map is not only method of navigation. Second one is navigation using mouse or touchpad. Program announces the name of current object, and sounds ilustrate few squares around the user. If we want to know more about further area, it is possible using commands from
"Area" menu or shortcut keys.Bookmarks are user-defined orientational points, having geographical coordinates and name. Can be useful during map exploration, for defining some places we want easily return to, or for marking stages of planned route. Bookmarks can be saved to disk in Loadstone-gps file format. Such file can be copied to phone and used in real navigation. Some programs can import Loadstone-gps database text file, and not checkpoints file. It's possible to switch bookmark save format in the settings menu. Grmapa lets play GPS log, saved in NMEA format. Such log can be generated e.g. in Loadstone-GPS software, using "Start logging" function. Connection of Grmapa and GPS device works similar to log playback, but in real time. It's possible after pairing bluetooth GPS receiver and the computer using system tools. First public Grmapa version was released in june of 2012, in Polish language only.Grmapa used maps bui
ld on a server from UMP (Universal Map of Poland) project.Last months, an OpenStreetMap import feature was added, and whole program and documentation internationalized, so it became ready to be presented for international blind computer users community.English language translation is initial, so please report all language errors. After correcting most language errors, it'll be possible to translate Grmapa to other languages (requires translation of two .po files).License: Freeware.Author: Grzegorz Zlotowicz.Website: http://grmapa.zlotowicz.pl/test/

Re: Where do you get your music?

At Bucklee12, the program you're talking about is called RB Clip. Lots of people swear by it, but I don't care for it at all. It creates files that are spoken by your TTS of choice, but those take up much-needed space on the player or micro SD card for what I see as very little gain. sure, it might be a little awkward to listen to your file names being spelled out, but I would much rather have that than have a whole bunch of space taken up by wave files that just speak the names of files. Now, if it actually read out ID3 tags, that would be a whole other ball game, and I would make that sacrifice.I've also never gotten it to work, though to be fair, I did only try it once. When I tried to run the program, it crashed after I imported the folder I wanted to have spoken. That obviously didn't impress me.

Re: Where do you get your music?

I really want to contribute to this thread, but I'm too busy listening to my audiobooks ... ripped and tagged in iTunes.Oh go on then. I get my music from wherever; typically indies like BandCamp, on CDs, from Audible, and occasionally from the iTunes store, as appropriate. But your right, I'm on OS X. iTunes on Windows is certainly accessible, just not quite as nicely. Given the choice, I pick CDs and lossless formats, for the portability, but you should be aware that, iTunes notwithstanding, iTunes tracks do not carry DRM (AAC 256Kb).Victor Reader Stream is a good buy. I still think Apple could do a better job of filesystem-based access; Stream will help with that. You should probably also be using an alternative media player on Windows. WinAmp, perhaps? Nevertheless I still find myself quite dependent on iTunes for overall media management. I guess it just fits some people better than others, and I don't know of any alternatives that are known to be
accessible even if I'm not now well into the Apple ecosystem. I've heard great things about MediaMonkey though can't say how accessible that is, if you need something similar but less bloated. My stream is largely for portability of my Audible collection, for DAISy books, and occasionally for podcasts. I still use iTunes for all the stuff I've ripped over the years, all of which has carried enough tags for iTunes to import smoothly. I guess I'm just lucky enough to have come to the scene late enough in the game that I'm not unduly inconvenienced by the need to keep exact file and directory names, although I certainly appreciate if your requirements are different. In investigating this situation of late, there are quite a few scripts out there to try and tag based on filenames and even create hierarchical folder playlists, but I think it's fair to say that iTunes just won't work as well for certain kinds of media organisation. The plus side of
the iTunes way is a lot more searching and sorting capability, plus the ability to store your media up in the cloud or sync or share it where iOS can find and match it, which I find quite invaluable. The downside of course is that iTunes forces you into the fixed set of tags it provides, and there is no way to manage your media from outside of iTunes, which is a bloated pig at the best of times. If your iPod is a Touch, then skip the sell-on-FleaBay step. You'll probably find that iOS is very helpful for lots of other things. You do have an iPhone, though, in which case this will not be required, although I love my touch for other things. As Dark says, use iCloud to avoid iTunes entirely.

Dark,100 GB? How big an SD card will the Victor Reader Stream accept? I thought it was 32 GB.Thats good news that the Victor Reader Stream supports m3u playlists, because the Brailsoft Music Categorizer can make them.I'm not that big on play lists, but I do use a small number of them for grouping purposes. For example most of my music is individual tracks, there are also some albums too. One of the most common things I do is create a playlist called favorites which has all those individual tracks in it. When I play the favorites playlist I always put it in shuffle mode. Many of my albums are meant to be listened to straight through rather than randomly listening to individual tracks, so I exclude them from the favorites play list. Some of my albums are several discs long or I have several albums I like to play together. For example, Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds is best listened to straight through, but it takes two discs. I use a playli
st for it that has both discs in it so when I listen to it I don't have to have the media player play the second disc after the first disc finishes. I realize I could edit the ID tags to make it look like one big disc, but I find making a playlist is easier.I also have the original soundtracks to the first three Star Wars movies, they are three separate albums. When I listen to them, I like to put all three albums in order into a playlist.Ah, now I understand, and I agree, I'd like to speed up the voice when it's just reading the Victor's user interface, but would want the media playback to be at normal speed. It could be a feature we'll have to ask for. It would seem to me to be a natural feature Victor users would want.A while back, I looked at a MP3 player that claimed it was made for the blind and visually impaired, that turned out to be some commercial brand of MP3 player with RockBox applied to it. While listening to an audio demo
of it they mentioned that until you create a spoken label for them, it just spells the folder and track names. My opinion was that if it had been truly made for the blind and visually impaired, it would have had text to speech software in it to read the folder and track name. That it lacked that, turned me off on it immediately.

Re: Where do you get your music?

@Figment, when I spoke of not changing the voice speed on the Victor, I was talking about with the interface only. You can speed up everything, but it will also speed up playback of audio files as well as the speaking of elements on the interface such as file names, names of controls and menus etc. I however don't want my playback of files sped up at all, but would like to speed up the interface voice a little, though in fairness as I said I haven't  actually asked humanware about this. In all other aspects I'm very happy with the victor. You can just bang whatever folder structure you like on there and navigation is easy, it tells you what level of navigation your in so you know folders and subfolders and also speaks the names, so whether I stick on an author folder with series subfolders and suboflders for the individual books, or music folders organized by whatever way it'll work. All you need to do is shove what folders and subfolders you
want in the right directory, or if you download them, they'll get stuck in a directory by default. The two directories I use most are $music and $otherbooks (ie, not dazy format or something else). The only principle difference is that the music directory has a shuffle function and supports m3u playlists if you want them, while the books directory categorizes it's folder structure as books and will stop playback after each as well as keep your position (explaining this sounds probably far more complicated than using it). While I'll agree the Victor was expensive, I've certainly been very happy with the thing, particularly a lot of the little extra functions such as being able to get the total time of a playing book, (or music track for that matter), as well as the sleep mode and of course the fact it saves your position in any and all folders at a time. As regards library functions, well as I said the victor will support m3u playlists a
nd if I could be bothered I could make these with winamp, but I personally have never really seen the point of all that library mallarchy myself, one reason I still am a big fan of winamp which has it if you want but not if you don't, and will just play any file or folder I want when I want. This again is something I don't like in Itunes, sinse personally I prefer just organizing my music and audio collections myself with folders and subfolders much as you'd put cds on a shelf, rather than leaving it to someone or something else.Personally, if I want to play something, usually I prefer to play the hole album/peace of music/performance/soundtrack rather than nitpicking bits, and on the occasions I use shuffle, I'm more likely to say shuffle all my blackmore's night or bellowhead collection than want a random mixture, indeed if I want a random mixture I usually just bang my entire music folder (all 100 or so gb of it), on shuffle which can be hilar
ious, getting Bach followed by Epic metal followed by music from Classic Nes games followed by the beatles followed by some experimental game soundtrack remixes .

Personally, it's my feeling that until they have an accessible way to deliver digital content, they should still be not allowing digital purchases from the accessible site.I took a quick look at mp3va.com and it looks promising. I'll probably give them a try the next time I want to buy some music.I'm curious where they are located.

CrimsonCurrentsV1.1

Hey guys, I've recently picked up this project again and have a new version to share with you. This one should make gameplay easier and a little smoother. I've decided I'm going to turn this game into a boat racing game with twisted metal and mario cart aspects rather than the storymode game I had originally planned on. My next goal is to be able to make it multiplayer. This will be my first time actually making anything multiplayer, so might take me some time. Should be awesome once that part is hammered down though, and I'll be able to host it here for you all to use if all goes well. One thing I forgot to mention in the ReadMe, page up and down raises and lowers the volume.Comments, suggestions, and criticisms are welcome. Here's the linkhttps://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/818 … tsV1.1.zipHeh woopsy, forgot to put in the sounds in the original zip, should work now. Enjoy.

Re: Where do you get your music?

The only SD cards that need to be specially formatted are the 64GB ones. That was my understanding when I bought my Clip Plus, anyway. Incidentally, I love that player too. I've had mine since sometime in July, and I love being able to copy and paste whatever I want onto the thing without needing any extra software.I don't care for the folder structure, though. I really wish it had a feature like the original Braille Plus did where it would automatically organize your files. That way, if I wanted to listen to a specific song, I would be able to locate it by artist. I know I could have created artist folders manually, but that would have been a pain. And 95% of the time, I just put my player on shuffle and listen to whatever comes up anyway, so it's not a deal breaker, just a minor annoyance. At Figment, I use the regular Amazon site when I purchase digital music. At one time, you couldn't even buy digital music on the accessible site, so it's
out of habit that I go there. maybe you can try the regular site next time you buy a song or album, and see if that works. They really have improved the accessible site quite a bit recently. You never used to be able to change your payment details, or get specs for products, but now you can, so, unless I'm buying music, I use the accessible site for everything else now.

Re: New GPlus Acccessibility Community, Now Open!

Since Trenton decided to discriminate against us JAWS user by not including key stroke instructions for it, I will.If you turn it on, JAWS can detect web application keystrokes and use them instead of the normal quick navigation keys. The nice thing about this feature is that the quick navigation keys that aren't replaced by a web application keystroke, still perform their usual quick navigation function. This feature is off by default, but I have it on for all applications, that way whenever there are web application keystrokes, I can use them without having to change anything. But you can also turn the feature on for only your web browser, or even only for a specific domain. The feature is called Allow Web Application Reserved Keystrokes. To find it, go into the Setting Center, JAWS key + 6, be sure to set the application drop down to indicate where you want this feature active. Then in the setting list, go to, Web/HTML/PDFs, then to Miscellaneous, then t
o Allow Web Application Reserved Keystrokes, and turn it on. Don't forget to save your changes.Alternatively, you can use the above technique to turn off the navigation quick keys if you prefer. In the settings list go to, Keyboard, then to General, and to the setting Navigation Quick Keys, and turn it off. Again don't forget to use the application drop down to set where you want the setting to take effect and also, don't forget to save your changes. While you are in your browser, you can also use the quick setting, JAWS key + V, be aware the quick settings work at the application level, if you want to make the change global or only for a specific domain, you have to use the settings center instead.Unfortunatly, there doesn't appear to be any hot keys defined to toggle either of these options on or off, but with the Allow Web Application Reserved Keystrokes on for all applications, I've found I don't need to toggle anything.

Re: virtual mac on a windows machine?

2015-12-01 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : Sebby via Audiogames-reflector

Re: virtual mac on a windows machine?

Concur with Chris. Trying to get OS X running on a Windows box (that is not itself a Mac) is a nuisance. Just get the Mac. You can use USB to do an install of Windows with an NVDA-enabled preinstallation environment if you need BootCamp; that's not really an issue, and anyway is common to Windows as a whole and is not Apple's problem. Or you can use VMWare's "Easy install" method to get Windows installed in a VM. Good luck.As to why OS X in a VM will not permit the use of certain features: that is because the Mac is essentially a uniquely serialised hardware dongle, that a VM cannot emulate. Using OS X apps and services in a VM is pretty nonsensical anyway (I only use it for OS X Server, myself) but it is made pretty much impossible by the SMC IIUC. I can't even use the Mac App Store to get the server. As to the hardware: Apple are the best OEM, full stop. Because of their supply chain and the fact that they simply don't sell crap, A
pple computers are the best Macs and the best Windows boxes you can buy. Naturally, if you want to undercut Apple at whatever cost, you can; just buy less reliable hardware, or build your own box. Building your own box of course means that you need to know how, but it does make more sense in certain cases where raw horsepower is needed. This advantage tapers off fairly steeply as you move into the higher end, because the major OEMs can and will sell you workstation- and server- class hardware that can't be built for the same price. Still, Apple does not yet make a middle-range tower, so if that is your fancy, you will have to stay with Windows. But for SFF, AIO and notebooks--oh yes, Apple it is. Apple is a hardware company. Microsoft is a software company. As long as Apple hardware provides value, it will always have a market, no matter the volume of Microsoft sales
. And notice that Microsoft is no longer selling an operating system. No, I don't like Apple's licensing antics either, but I accept that OS X is apple's bundled software solution, not a standalone product. I'd love it if this changed, although to be honest I don't think that's likely. What really needs to happen to change the field is for Linux to actually stand a snowball's chance in hell of actually appealing to the masses; then generic hardware could indeed be a genuine substitute for Apple's closed hardware-software combination. Until then, the margin by which MS are in any sense the leader is the margin by which they have raced to the bottom and eliminated any meaningful competition in the market. In the regard of crushing competition, both are as bad as each other, but only Microsoft's strategy attracted mindshare--until recently, of course, when Google took over from them. Ugh! It's all very horrible.

Re: Samsung 50 inchaccessible TV

ammericandad2005 ,At $1,300 it's not worth it until they fix the accessibility system so it doesn't interfere with the TV.aaron ,That was one thing I did like about the Samsung TV, they went to Nuance for text to speech software, so the voice is very understandable. Samsung also did a good job of making sure the voice read everything, the only area where I encountered things not being read was in their Smart Hub, which is their way of bundling all your sources of content into one place.I suspect I'll just keep using my inaccessible Panasonic TV until the latter half of next year when all manufacturers will have to have accessible products to be in compliance with the CVAA. There will be a lot more choices and they be further along in development so there should be fewer problems.
