Greetings all. So a new update for you all today, sometimes I spoil you guys way too much. Keeping in line with the 3d rotation system that i've implemented, i've scrapt the original door system. Just like in dmnb when you open and close a door you can walk through it, though their's a few changes. First up when you open a door, the new room sound will load and increase in volume, closing it will cause it to be cut off. If their is a soundpoint that's muffled, say its in the room the door leads to, opening the door will cause the sound to unmuffle. Closing the door will cause the sound to be muffled again. Side stepping now works as it should, though i'm still trying to decide how to redesign some of the levels to fit with in the new 3d world.

I don't know what the point is anymore. I try and I fail. I fight and I lose. I hope and I'm crushed. Is there really even a point to going onward anymore?  I tried to make it work with a girl I thought loved me. She lied. I tried to move on. I failed and so did the relationship. The girl I love hates me now. I'm without hope. Without pain, without pleasure... without feeling. I feel worthless. I feel like a speck of dust, like the gum on the bottom of someone's shoe... condemned to being crushed into the pavement until I'm scraped off and thrown down the garbage. I feel like the third wheel, the accident, that one annoying itch you can never quite scratch. My hope is gone. I guess it always has been but I'm just realizing it now. I'm a shadow of me. I'm nothing more than that. My happiness never lasts. My hopes, my dreams seem to never come to pass. My worth is questionable, no, nonexistent. I may sound like I'm just laying 
 here, feeling sorry for myself. No. It's beyond that. It's pure, utter hopelessness that cannot be fixed. It's numbing pain. It's a sick, warped pleasure, because at least I can feel something. It's feeling so weak I can't move. I don't want to move. I don't want to go on... I don't want this anymore...

Yesterday, the day 07/07 plus minus 19 hours swamp server time there was a big bug of disappearing items with cayky character.He was with all the items around the connection of his internet fell when he returned to connect to the game, all munitions including ammunition of 7.62, grenades, arrows, shotgun shells and gas. all ammunition gone inventory it mysteriously. Also gone are special armor items that he won in the event were: 1 running shorts, 1 Bunny slippers., 2 uniform raider and a apronic shoulder pads.Please aprone we all friends of cayky ask you to restore his character for the day 07/07 plus the least 19:00 before he lost all items hc.Again, all of ammunition and special armor are gone from his inventory. Hi all,Coming a little bit late into an old synth's game, but I have recently been playing with Soft Voice and wanted to try to make it sing, the way it does in the example of the child singing "twinkle twinkle" that we all know. I am using the NVDA add-on downloaded from Jeff's NVDA add-ons repository. I've also modified NVDA's symbol processing in the punctuation and symbols dialog to allow braces to be sent directly to the synthesizer. So far, that seems to be working, as I can type{{rate 80}} This is a test.And get very slow speech as a result. I can also type{{voice robotoid}} This is a test.To use the robotoid voice. however some of the commands such as[[f0range 10}} This is a test.or{{f0style sing}} This is a test.Do not produce any output, yet these commands are documented in the soft voice manual found on grossgang.com.Even a command such as{{tone -2}} This is a test.Which is used both in the manual I have downloaded and the Soft Voice web site fails to work with the NVDA add-on.I have not tried any of these commands recently with Willow Pond or anything else. Willow Pond, which would be the program I would be most likely to use, is a 16 bit application, which would not run on my Windows 7 X64 system without use of a virtual machine. I could swear the tone command I pasted above worked on Willow Pond when I last used it, but that was a long time ago when I tried it, and so I might have gotten mixed up with something else. I could fire up my XP VM and see how that works. Last I checked Willow Pond ran fine on it. But I was wondering if I can get this working on my Win7 64 bit system first, as I don't like using virtual machines unless I have no other choice.I will edit this topic as I find things out, as Soft Voice seems, anyway, to be much more capable than Dectalk, judging by that child singing example. If I had to compare it to a type of game that has been made in main stream I would say it is more a combination between [[wow]], Star-Craft, and SoulCalibur. I know that's not very descriptive, but it's hard to sum it all up without having to sit down and write out a whole article about it. I'll do it eventually, but I have to hammer it all out and piece it together for you guys to understand it and see it the way I envision it. It's not going to be RP enforced though, but you'll be taking on a role of another being from another world/time.

This probably won't help you much... But my answer is rather brutal in its simplicity. I don't like multiplayer games because, unless it's a fighting-type game or something, I point blank don't like playing with other people. In fact one of the thing that draws me to a nice, long, story-driven single-player game is the ability to bury myself in that game and rely entirely on it, and my own imagination/creativity/skills, to make it fun for me, with others totally erased from the equation. I know, I'm giving off a terribly antisocial vibe here, but I'm not. I love people, I love spending time with people, in moderation at least. I just don't want others interfering with my playing, at all.

Keep in mind that he's not decompiling the synths to get them to work with Blind Extra, he's just incorporating them in. So unless Keynote can be put into speech hub or something, probably the most we could do is get it working under xp.

Hi there everyoneFirst off, thank you for all your wonderful suggestions and comments.I'll certainly see about running over that hand mining help file, to ensure everything is crystal clear!I'll also set about writing a small help file on the info computer, or maybe an FAQ for the players to read.In regards to the soundpack, we do have an in game channel for asking such questions, and a friend of mine in game is helping to improve the pack for vipmud 2.0 users.In terms of in coming features. I'm looking into implementing a couple more activities for the higher levels, along with completing moon base building, which is proving to be a huge task!I'm also working on player suggestions too, so never really have time to stop and wonder. I have no problem with pvp existing in the game, and in truth games usually do have level limits or the like to stop pvp going too extremes, the problem tends to be that too many games make pvp their entire focus, and so if your not interested in pvp, even if doing it isn't forced upon you, there isn't a lot else you can choose to do, since the bulk of the game is focused around pvp.Ditto with in character roleplay, again, not my thing but not really a problem if it's handled well, however I can think of several games who really! take roleplay to extremes to the point that if a player has another interest, the game just doesn't have much to offer them, indeed there are several games *cough dark grimoire *cough, where imho the developers talk about "our great roleplay" precisely because! other aspects of the game such as quests and combat and exploration are so much lacking in terms of their development.

What version of vipmud are you using? Over all, the VIPMud readme does tell you where VIPmud keeps Its' info, I thought. Anyway, I would like to try out combat aginst NPc ships, but the help files don't really say how the whole fireing of weapons and stuff work. Anyway, I am playing around some with the warp drive and find that kind of nice. Just not to shure what the difference in speed between 1 and 10 is. I got to where I can get my ship around in space, but haven't quite figure out every little detail. For example, what would interest me there. The taxi gets me to most places I want to go.

I think it was the other way arround. Scansoft baught nuance in 2004 I believe, but their time at scansoft while they owned nuance was short-lived, as they renamed themselves nuance the following year, just to trick into thinking nuance baught nuance. Damn nuance, you sneaky!

Right now, you couldn't get me to install anything from Nuance on my computer unless it was free. And then you'd be fighting an up hill battle.Nuance used to be Scansoft, I don't know all the details surrounding the name change, but I do know that after the name change they seemed to be more about their bottom line than giving value to their customers.Back before I lost my vision I used PaperPort to manage my documents, it was a great program with lots of useful features, then Scansoft became Nuance. Then Nuance released PaperPort 13 and what a turd it was, it was so changed from what it was when they were Scansoft that it was barely recognizable. I return version13 and went back to version 12 and have never considered buying anything from them ever again.Then after I lost my vision, one of the rehabilitation specialists that helped me recommended I use Omnipage with Microsoft Word to read my mail. What a mistake! Omnipage is yet another fine pr
 ogram from Scansoft that Nuance has ruined. It was so bad I eventually bought Open Book from Freedom Scientific and have been very happy with it.It's a pity Eloquence is owned by Nuance, as good as it is, it would probably be far better if somebody else owned it.

It's also a bit of a shamre that lh never bothered to make a sapi5 version of truevoice like they did for tts3000. I think it would've been funny to hear radar overseer scotty as the voice of entombed, for example.

If boath of them were on the donkey it wasn't right, if nun of them were on it it again wasn't.When we didn't have pk, everybody was complaining (mind you, not everybody, but the complainers did), because they died to much, everybody was killing everybody, they couldn't survive, and what's the point of playing survive the wild if it's imposible to stay alive.Now, we have pk, and people want there to be no pk, because what's the point in a surviving game if there's no effert in surviving.Honestly I could tell sam to do a fie
 w days try-out of no pk, and revert back to pk after that just to see the reactions, but that would take a lot of work and people would hate him for it. Having no pk is not a option anymore. We have shotguns, granades, weapons that can usually kill you in one hit. Sure, we have dfc but you guys want those removed as well.True, the items in the store provide sam the money, as you know he doesn't exactly have his job at this point, still a schooler. And even if his parents give him money, I don't think they give him that much for a simple game. The stw store keeps the surver running, pays for the sound effects, etc. Also, if you removed the teleporters and dfc now, you would have a lot of people who spent their money, and their money would be waisted. Would you steal someone's money just because stw is not what you, a single player among many, want it to be?That's all for now, going to write more after I actually get some sleep. Yes, I believe SoftVoice, Inc. had made the original Macintosh TTS, but I'm not sure if Apple had continued development on their own. As Macintosh said when he first spoke to the world, "never trust a computer you can't lift". It's amazing to think that today, speaking computers are very common, but in 1984, it was such a novelty..

so i beaten this game and i must say, it's quite fun. playing it on other modes, i haven't tried impossible yet, i'm scared of it. rofl. i'm planning to make a walkthrough/playthrough, don't know which one it will be yet. i don't like to hear myself  so it might be a playthrough. on the other hand. i like recordings where people talk a little more then recordings where people just play through the game. also will falling into the pit on impossible kills you automaticly? if it does i'm not trying that. rofl.

Heh, never know where to post stuff like this sometimes.Blizzard's behavior over the past few years has left me, let's say disappointed. I hadn't heard about them disabled all the community mods though, could be part of their crackdown on third party servers. To be honest I have my doubts about Overwatch being purely playable with sound, their definition of "play by sound" is likely not the same as the one people here may expect. Still an interesting topic though.

what about the AT guys installer?btw, I'm still pissed off that nuance forced code victory to charge $70 for something based on technology that hasn't been updated in years. and that's coming from someone who has gotten it for cheep, and legally too, back in the days where Roburt bets was the king of sv games. His sv games used eloquence and he only charged $20 at the time (later decreased to $15), and that's taking all the factor into account: he is self-employed, hasd justgraduated from college at the time his company was formed, and yes, outright refused to spare any ecxpences (these include all royalties to nuance, or in the case of the sv games during this time, ETI).

Unfortunately for us, corporations like Nuance do not have that mindset. As long as they can make money off of eloquence, which they still can at this point because Freedom Scientific and other manufacturers are paying for it, it will not be made free. And what's even more pointless about the whole thing is that eloquence is not even being developed anymore; it's just being sold from company to company. I seriously wonder if the eloquence source code is around anymore now. This mess makes me honestly wonder about the history of Eloquence, oddly enough.

I'm also having trouble on getting the soundpack to work in the latest version of vipmud. I'm doing what the readme says, I'm doing what people have suggested in the game itself, and I have even tried to move my vipmud user folder to an other folder, to avoid some admin rights. But it won't help. I've got the soundpack from the Dropbox link at the first post. There is an other soundpack which you can get from BT sync, but I don't feel like installing the program just to get the soundpack at the moment. It's strange that some people can get it to work and others can't.

I don't believe for a second that a game like this can be played by sound... the video is interesting, but I'm not going to believe that it's playable until someone confirms this. FPS games that are as complex as what I've heard about this game can't be played by sound alone, not without additional aids... so I'm very curious indeed.

in reply to your first question, I think your dealing with a script that doesn't have any user interaction. If you press enter, the program will  run, but will stay active only until all the system operations have been completed.  I recommend  browsing to the directory and manually typing python script.py  from the commandline

HiMy point is this.1. Supernatural players and normal players should be separated when it comes to pk. So supernatural players can kill supernatural players, and normal players can kill normal players only, I think this will sort the situation.2. Realism yes, Dfcs and teleporters are not realistic, and supernatural players don't need to work around, and don't need to drink or eat something. That's why they think this game as a chat client.3. Someone wanted the pk system to be removed, so let me give my thoughts.Like I said, this game is Survive the wild, nothing, nothing specific. @Nocturnus, actually my lady and I both hate shopping, so it usually is a matter of "how long can we put it off" up until "Well we can't go out for another! meal", then and then "how big an order can we make so that they deliver it in the van and we don't have to go shopping again" .Bits of wedding shopping, eg buying my lady's dress were rather fun, but that's definitey the exception rather than the rule.Indeed my lady has said my hatred of shopping is the one thing about me she doesn't particularly value, since as she hates shopping she'd have been better with a guy who enjoys it, of course I say the same with reversed gender . I've noticed lots of things in this part of the world 
 are fried. I enjoy the hole chicken in crumb or whatever, but usually in the uk the things tend to be grilled or done in the oven which I think on the hole I prefe. Even the good old full English breakfast, what used to be called "A fry up" I tend to make on the george forman instead . @Phil, we've actually already been to new york. annoyingly we didn't really have time to do all the touristy things, though if we go back we'll keep your list in mind. Since my lady's sister (who has been very kind about letting my lady and I basically live with her for a couple of months), lives in Lebanon (the ttown not he country), which is about four hours drive from new York, when we saw the Lion king we basically got the bus down, went for grub, got a quick tour of time square,  then saw the Lion King and came back. Very nice, if rather hechtic
 . This morning I got a lovely phone call from my parents, apparently the solicitor has changed his mind and doesn't! want electronic copies of all the documents we need for the visa, despite the huge amount of time we've spent running around getting the dam things scanned in. He's also made changes to the application form, which amusingly enough needs to be sent, along with both of our passpports from the us back to sheffield which is less than an hour from where my parents live in the Uk, and then back again, despite,  you know us being there earlier this year and possibly going up the road rather than using stupid amounts of international shipping. Apparently though, you know just walking into the office and presenting things is not "the process!" and far be it from me to interfere with something so sacred . I actually confess t
 he application is a trifle stressful, particularly now that the wedding, ie, the nice bit is out of the way. Glad to hear the house is working Nocturnus. Goodness knows what my lady and I are going to do about living arrangements for the future. We've been okay in my one bedroom flat thus far, despite there being two of us and two dogs, but we really would like another room for storage if nothing else, though we're also afraid this will kick off the "I love you mum and dad but really don't want to live too close because you know I am actually an adult and married now" discussion, which is not exactly one I want to have, still, one thing at a time. Alien out of the shadows was good, and I actually liked how the characters work, some of the bits were down right creepy especially the way that there was almost an h2g2 style "thank you for visiting the bridge" computer voice which spoke up everytime someone entered or left a room,  qui
 te amusing when said person was a slobbering acid blooded alien monstrosity! The one thing that I really didn't! like was the way tha ripley's memory got conveniently wiped at the end of the story. rEally, cop out or what! Hopefully today my lady and I can get a break, which means either trying out cosmic rage or fixing Jim Kitchin's games in the db if I have the energy, playing more alteraeon if I'm feeling less energetic, or just curling up and reading a bit more david brin, which my lady and I are reading together and which is proving really! amazing, actually getting me in the mood for a space game.

@Ishen, that's simply becaus blind gladiator came out so recently. They did the survey for the top 10 list in may, as it says on their page, so no games bought out after may such as Aprone's blazy (or I believe preludimals), or Blind gladiator will be noted. I did mention Sam when I was giving them some feedback as a developer to check, but what ultimately gets included is up to them, another reason why it's so nice they voted us as number 1.Next year apparently they're going to include mobile stuff and maybe online games too, so we'll see what happens then.

Hi everyone.I need your help in python.1. Whenever I write a program, my window just disappears instantly. It means that, if I run my program, a program window appears and disappears after 3 seconds, even before I test the program. How can I solv this?When I did autoit, I had to run a sleep loop that pauses my program every time but I think it is bad. Any ideas on how to solv this?2. only problem I see is you can't translate to thai or Russian. I see people use the languages in stw all the time, but when you translate it, all I get is question marks unless I use ESpeak. and even when you use ESpeak, you're not getting the same symbols as they are written by people that actually speak the language. not sure how to solve this problem. its weird.

Keep in mind it's not Code FActory that's entirely responsible for the charge. Not all the money goes into their coughers. Some goes into the coughers of the fat organization-hogging corporation known as, you guessed it, Nuance! Nuance should be abandoning Eloquence though, because it's a late 90s speech essential that has become archaic because of new so-called human-sounding voices, which, apart from a few Vocalizer and Acapella whom are very good at balancing naturalness and responsiveness, are incredibly laggy. Therefore, Eloquence should be abandoned and released as freeware.

I have NFC how to play it on the 360, but I do know that the very first thing you do after the intro is go through character creation, which is a pretty complex process. I bought this game for my fiance last year and we played through it together, so I know most of what happens and how it plays out. Even though the game is turnbased, I don't think it'd be accessible in the slightest, a lot of the attacks are quick time events where you have to press buttons that show up on the screen, or swing the joystick around. The PC version is compatible with gamepads FYI. There are portions in the game where you have to move your farts around on the screen to divert attention from yourself, and I'm not sure how you might go about doing those. Still though, for a fiver, that's not a bad deal even just to walk around and explore. I personally don't see any way of it being playable without sighted assistance, but if you figure out a way I'd be interested in knowing
  how.Maybe if you were really dedicated you could find let's plays of it on youtube, and figure out the timing for each move in combat, but you'd still have to learn what the buttons for the move are, and with some characters like Jimmy, the buttons change each time.
