That was a pretty col dungeon. Definitely makes you stock up on status cures. I also managed to beat the stadium leader which was another cool fight. I'm not sure what to do next after making a desperately needed visit to the hotel LOL.

Hi.I've been there.Yeah juggling life is hard.Right on that note, I wouldn't rush into a job, because you won't find one unless you have some sort of university degree and its the darn truth.Out of highschool expectations were high.I did a living skills course encouraged to get a job and go through the process in it.Several agencies funding things, case managers and others later, I got no where.I got a few courses under my belt but it ended up the same.I am still doing what I did before.I do walk, and have a life but I spend 99.999% of it online on my computer all day and night.I tried for a job, there is no future.Now I wouldn't give up in development.You have been going on for a long stretch.You have burned your candle, maybe you need to ballance it, the last thing we want is another mason.You had a good concept and I was looking foreward for the game series of deathmatch and 
 realitysoftware to continue.Do what you need to get things done, reballance your life, development is a hobby there isn't much cash in it but whatever.You will be missed if you do actually go.There isn't someone like you and you shouldn't chuck it all away like this.But yeah, reballance, get your life in order and come back.If you are lucky and get a constant job keep us in the loop.With me I was really high for 6 years, down for another 2 and depressed for another 2 to the point I could really do myself in.You will find out soon enough that you will be back where you started, however you are at my age I started looking, so go, see where you go and find out that you can't and continue.Unlike me you actually have a life here, maybe take some time away from the net and try to have it in, I am sure a lot of us devs are humans to and not borg at least I think so.Unless you are someone like aprone that can like chu

The maps are kind of big, but there are a lot more landmarks. Changing footsteps from grass to dirt to rock, for instance, or signs, or opened treasure chests. Buildings sound different from regular walls. Ladders and doors sound different from one another. People sound like they did in Paladin. So yes, maps are big, but it's a bit more...realistic, I suppose you'd say.Just reached the end of the demo. One manamon's cry scared the hell out of me because I was sorta wandering around in a doze. See if you can guess which.Got a team of Vulpine, Ratsal, Owlaw (when is he going to evolve?), Ferradae, Chingle and Pandourbit. That poor ghost. that won't be possible, in it's current state the only part that would actually be propperly playable is the offline mode to the first boss, the online doesn't have enough for it to be playable. Besides, he's deleted the src so he can't exactly code that in without recoding the entire thing first.

Okay. So I went back and did a side-quest, got some item I have no idea how to use, that's all right. I've officially exhausted the demo unless I want to go catch all mons, and I don't. I'm not a collector, I'm a battler.And I'm more convinced than ever that I want to buy the game. Problem is, I literally don't have the cash. Just went and checked, and I'm at least twenty bucks short. I'm just glad I'm well-stocked on food and that my bills are paid. Haha.Guess I'll have to live vicariously through the rest of you guys. I personally have dectalk installed, so I'm quite fine as far as the sapi voices go. Still, screen reader support would be nice, though not necessary.I just played for quite some time, captured some manamons, got them to level 10 or so, then alt tabbed to something else just for a moment. Soon, the computer restarted for no reason at all.Ah well, lesson learned. Save more often. Though it would be nice if we could have autosaves, like it was in paladin where it saved the progress when you went to bed. I allways forget to save and then my computer makes me pay for it.

You can save at any time you want except while in combat, and this is how I prefer it, honestly. Paladin had save points, but it didn't have forced saves. The problem with a forced save is that if you put it in the wrong place, you may put the player in an unwinnable scenario or might get them to trigger it without realizing. Maybe they want to go back and try something different, but with auto-save now they can't. So I like this method, honestly. I think it makes sense.

Ahoy thereSo I was able to download this and take it on a test run. the test run sort of turned into ehh, a long drive through the highways to take this analogy and drop it on its arse. Really excellent game, everything from music to crys to attack sounds is done well, although I do have suggestions that you might want to have a look upon.First concerns the leveling up and health. Usually in almost every rpg or at least the ones I have been able to play which isn't many to be honest, but whenever a party member,creature,pokemon or what you will levels up it gets a few increase in health points which the creatures in here do too,but its current health doesn't max out to full,which is what would really be nice to have and happens in every other rpg. I.E if my creature had 5 out of 15 health and it levels up,its max health goes up to 17,but its current hea
 lth remains the same that's 5. Next deals with the peadia and creature types,even when you have encountered a creature you don't get much about it in the peadia other than its description and name. at least list the type because the peadia is actually scanning the creature or ought to when we encounter a new one,instead of us having to catch em all just to know what type they are.Oh and, screenreader support would be really nice if you can work it in. At the person praising Espeak, aye there are people around that can and do use Espeak,and some even prefer it over other synths,but most people me included can't just stand it. I can use it if I must if a work needs it and nothing else is available,but I certainly wouldn't use it where I wanted to enjoy something I.E books or games or game story,even.In conclusion, its a really great game with additional fun of hours and hours with the online battles as a icing on the cake to play with yo
 ur friends, great music and sound design with a pricetag that might seem slight high, but according to me its reasonable for the quality and the play time you get out of it.plus, $40 or so are the usual for your average audiogames. I.E 3d velocity and so on.grryf

Ahoy thereSo I was able to download this and take it on a test run. the test run sort of turned into ehh, a long drive through the highways to take this analogy and drop it on its arse. Really excellent game, everything from music to crys to attack sounds is done well, although I do have suggestions that you might want to have a look upon.First concerns the leveling up and health. Usually in almost every rpg or at least the ones I have been able to play which isn't many to be honest, but whenever a party member,creature,pokemon or what you will levels up it gets a few increase in health points which the creatures in here do too,but its current health doesn't max out to full,which is what would really be nice to have and happens in every other rpg. I.E if my creature had 5 out of 15 health and it levels up,its max health goes up to 17,but its current hea
 lth remains the same that's 5. Next deals with the peadia and creature types,even when you have encountered a creature you don't get much about it in the peadia other than its description and name. at least list the type because the peadia is actually scanning the creature or ought to when we encounter a new one,instead of us having to catch em all just to know what type they are.Oh and, screenreader support would be really nice if you can work it in. At the person praising Espeak, aye there are people around that can and do use Espeak,and some even prefer it over other synths,but most people me included can't just stand it. I can use it if I must if a work needs it and nothing else is available,but I certainly wouldn't use it where I wanted to enjoy something I.E books or games or game story,even.In conclusion, its a really great game with additional fun of hours and hours with the online battles as a icing on the cake to play with yo
 ur friends, great music and sound design with a pricetag that might seem slightly high, but according to me its reasonable for the quality and the play time you get out of it.plus, $40 or so is usual for your average audiogames. I.E 3d velocity and so on.grryf

Just a quick heads-up, for those who don't know:Some games do indeed heal you a little (or to full) when you level. Many don't. Pokemon is one such game that does not do so, and Aaron's mostly modelling the game after that franchise I think.As far as the Manapedia goes? Actually it makes sense that you get more complete info once you actually catch the thing. If you want its type, attack it and find out what's effective/not very effective/super-effective, and work from there. This is how you find out that Awlaw is air-sound, for instance, and Granate is earth-stone. It's a little bewildering at the start especially, but for me at least, that's half the fun of it.I was actually ready to come on here and take the same issue, at least right at the start, until I realized that frankly, playing pokemon in the past, I've been spoiled. I either 1. had a sighted person to help a little, 2. could use the internet to find out cries/moves
 /type effectiveness, or 3. had seen the anime. There was all kinds of reference. But in this game, there is no such reference. Some things - such as that water is good against flame - are self-explanatory. But I don't think I've even seen a shadow type yet, even though I've seen equipment that only a shadow manamon can use. There is a handy text file which explains type effectiveness though, which is good.On that note thought, it would be nice if the manual covered status conditions and what they did. Does scorch cut your attack? I know paralysis doesn't cut your speed, and if scorch doesn't cut attack then it's really just another damage-over-time counter. Can you stack status conditions? What the hell is berserk? Stuff like that.

heh, i don't think he deleted the src, he still have it somewhere, think about it, a dev who worked hard to code a game should just delete the src? it was the same thing with dmnb, he sitll have the src to dmnb v1, and i talked with about giving me the code so me and some friends can sett it up, we tried with dmnb v 2 and we have a server but we couldn't find out the combat mitions for it and some other things because we don't have the src.

Seams to me like a computer issue. I'm running the game on Windows 10 X64 with no problems. It's even insider build. Yes, I agree with screen reader support, although I do have SAPI5 Eloquence, but anyway.

Greetings. Well, I am totally agreed with those guys who said if an admin is untrustable, why should he be an admin ingeneral. Also, I would like to ask sam to promote, I don't know, those people who knows more than 2 languages, and 2 languages I mean, native one, and english, cause as you maybe happened to see, some people can't get help cause they simply just can't speak english, and they need to ask other players for contacting them with an admin. I know there is one for spanish, but still they're somehow lost when need help, and one now for iranians, even ok, he's maybe untrustable but helpful. Anyways, those communitys like thai, or russian, having no closer to them admins, and for those who doesn't speak english at all, it's almost impossible to communicate with out someone else's help cause you know what bgt is doing with uni code characters. Of corse players who knows english well is trying to help them as much as they can, but you k
 now sometimes there might be something what they just can't solve. It doesn't mean promoting someone for any language community, it would be more than rediculous, but just if there are some guys who knows more than 3 languages with out their native one, or know tricks how to paste there uni code simbls by using translater, might be promoted. How ever, this is not a request from me cause I know 4 languages and one of those who's helping my people with english when they need to communicate or just for translating things, it's just an advice for making this game more accessable for those who can speak only their native language. Maybe others would agree with my opinion.About admins online... Yes, I had a bunch of those situations when there was no admin even if there now more than 7 I guess (in fact some of them are inactive for a long time), but those who's active is helping a lot when they can. Anyway, would be nice if they would make something like a s

i have tried the game but find sapi tedious so will be purchasing it if screenreader support if possible, in my case jaws, can be added. i only have microsoft anna voice at the moment. also how many stadiums are in the full game? finally when the mainu menu comes up only new game is available not options. i do like the soundwork though but would like if possible jaws support.

@Nibar: trust me, it's not that easy. There are people who, after months of working on something, spending all that time, if they snap or decide to go, well, I've seen people do this sort of thing before -- delete their writing, their coding, whatever, to be rid of their projects. The reason Danny has deleted it is because he doesn't want to be reminded while he gets his life back on track, basically, or he might have deleted it as he might not actually be returning here at all. Yes, this is quite sad for us but it is also very important for him to get his real life on track, and when that happens he might not have time for game development.We all go through phases in life, sometimes we do stuff online, sometimes we do other stuff that makes the net go by the wayside but that other stuff is seriously important.

Hello all,The difficulty of adding screen reader support is minimal. I can largely recycle the implementation from Paladin of the Sky.But after adding it to Paladin, I really felt it detracted from the experience significantly.Screen readers are not designed for gaming. As a programmer, I need to have as much control over the user's experience as possible, and unfortunately screen readers do not offer the abilities required.Everyone likes Screen Reader support because they can get good voices, but there are just some issues with it, especially on bigger games.I've seen many games which only support screen readers which I personally find unplayable.I also remember somewhere in this thread, someone said the Jaws Keyhook wouldn't be an issue since Manamon doesn't have timed attacks like Paladin.Actually, the keyhook causes more problems than just a slight delay. Sometimes I will hold down a key, then release it, and the ga
 me lags so much that it will continue walking a few steps before stopping.That in itself wouldn't be enough to stop me from adding screen reader support, because that's an issue only in JAWs.The other issues, namely having no control, are present in all screen readers.All the best,Aaron

I'm curious to know exactly what screen reader support would not give in terms of control that sapi does in this game. All the other big rpgs I've played namely shadow line and all of Morokuma's text rpgs use screen reader support, at the very least, clipboard support, which works just fine. If the difference really is minimal, then coding support for NVDA shouldn't be so hard and seeing as how requested of a feature it is, I think you should seriously consider it. I think one of the issues mentioned was that screen reader support doesn't take into account when a line of dialog may end which may cause interrupts... I think most peoples' screen readers are set with their speech rate fast enough to where that won't be a problem. Other than that, a vast majority of games developed these days have screen reader support in one form or another.

threeblacknoises, Shadow Rine also has this auto-advanced feature, and it works wonderfully with NVDA. It even lets you control how fast you want it to scroll so in case your speech is set to a slower rate, it doesn't cut off bits of the dialog when it advances.

Hello 3blacknoises,the reported issue will be resolved in the next update.And to everyone else,BGT does support screen readers.The main issue with screen readers is the inability to check whether or not it is speaking, which is actually very important.Imagine, for example, not being able to check when a sound finishes playing? No game would be playable if that were the case. Thankfully screen readers aren't quite that bad, but it does make the game feel unpolished for sure. I cannot simply rely on the fact that most people will have their speech rate quick enough.I have to take the 5 percent, 20 percent, 30 percent into consideration who have their screen readers at slow rates, so unfortunately that doesn't really work.I did think long and hard about the screen reader issue, believe me.Best regards,Aaron

All right. Before I get into this, please understand I'm not trying to step on toes. This is sort of a delicate balancing act between getting my point across and being pushy. If I stray too far, I apologize in advance. I'm not trying to slam anyone, this is an honest attempt at a dialogue.Righto. I far, far prefer Paladin with NVDA rather than without. Gameplay speeds up, and since NVDA is one of my screenreaders of choice it also means I'm playing the game with a voice I not only like, but understand really well without trying. Like it or not, SAPI just isn't as good at pronunciation.I do not know of any real-life player-side issues that adding NVDA support would have caused for Paladin. This doesn't mean there aren't any, it just means I've never noticed them. Maybe the code's ugly, or maybe if you wanted to do a very specific type of mini-game, NVDA support would be problematic, but the game in its current state only seems to
  benefit from that support. You gave a lot of players what they wanted, and they loved you for it.To my way of thinking, Manamon is the same. I'm not far into the game yet, so it's possible there are elements of gameplay that would be unfeasible with a screenreader like NVDA. If so, I'd love to hear what they are and why they're troublesome. But from my admittedly limited perspective, all I see here is a game that won't be harmed from a player's point of view with the addition of NVDA support.It feels a little like you're saying that you don't want to include support largely on principles. "It's not really meant to happen, screenreaders aren't the right tools for this". Yet I don't understand the direct limitations you would place upon yourself.Is there a specific type of gameplay that you are seriously considering but which would become impossible with screenreader support? If so, what is it?

Hi all.First, @Jade, when I saw post number 40 I wanted to cheer loudly, in fact I did. You said everything I wanted to say and more, well done.I've heard of Pokémon obviously and been so curious about it, but had no luck with playing any of what's out there, or what was.  A game like this just ticked all the boxes for me and I'm thrilled to bits with it.  There is so much I like. I particularly like that the maps, though huge, are less easy to get lost in and the new wall sounds are awesome, the old ones from Paladin used to trigger Migraine for me so that I had to give up the game.  the sound design and descriptions are just so good!  I really like learning about my monsters as I go along, finding out what they do best, which one is best against which.  I'm so glad I started with the Flamia, he's awesome!I have absolutely no problem with the price tag, in my opinion this game is worth every red cent.  I also would agree that screenreader support would detract from the game experience.  So all in all this game is a hit with me, 3 hours plus play time and I'm just about to start exploring Hazeldale city. Bring it on!  Well done, Aaron, you rule!

Yes, that's true, and I thought that was fairly weak as well.Bearing in mind, of course, that in FF5, the fairly open-ended job system means you can play Galuf/Krile much much differently on each attempt. Lucy/Simon are locked in.Bearing in mind, as well, that Lucy and Simon, and generally the story itself, don't have a ton of depth. So when your link to the story is already tenuous at best, that's not exactly a compelling case.Now I'll illustrate a point:Many people know about Galuf's death, but I would venture that it didn't hit folks too terribly hard.Now look at Aeris's death. That shocked the gaming world. Part of that was the mainstream nature of the title (vs. FF5, which was fairly quiet, admittedly). But part of it was that you'd spent a bunch of time sympathizing with, raising and ultimately being involved with a character, and then bang! she's dead. That was a gut-punch.Paladin couldn'
 t dream of this sort of gut-punch in my opinion. The player isn't nearly as tied to Lucy. Not to mention that once you realize that Simon is your new party member, and takes over all of Lucy's old stats, it feels even thinner.I dunno, maybe it's a case of YMMV (your mileage may vary)? But it didn't do it for me. Not at all. And I'm really not that demanding as far as story goes. I've played many games with fairly thin story (look at all the mainstream pokemon I've played) and what kept me hooked was the gameplay.

Oh, sorry, but another thing I've noticed:Manamon seem to be getting fairly balanced stats, at least so far. Stats don't seem to be spreading out much. But maybe that's because of the creatures I have.Will this start to change as levels increase? For instance, is Hydrake a glass cannon with high attacking stats and bad defenses? Or is Squirmunk really really fast? I mean apart from training here.That's one thing which, when compared to the source, seems a little different (and no, that might not be a bad thing). But if every manamon is fairly good at almost everything, that will worry me a bit, as it will take a lot of the competitive edge out of things, and will ultimately risk falling back on "use biggest attack, rinse, repeat".While I'm on that "use biggest attack" thing, I have a couple more questions:1. Is there any way to teach manamon new moves, or is their level-up list the extent of what they ca
 n learn?2. Is there any way to see what a move does -before you learn it? I believe the description keys don't work while, say, learning an attack at the end of battle when you've already got five learned.3. Does the computer AI, particularly in stadium fights or other boss fights, ever use strategy, or does it just pick a move at random? For example, Magic Lights to confuse, then spam a defense-drop move to make confusion do more damage when the target hits itself. One thing many pokemon trainers (particularly bosses) did was to have specific gimicks and strategies that you had to learn to counter (think Witney's Miltank, haha). And they didn't always execute flawlessly, but the move combos were there. Of course, this folds neatly into question 1, because if your movepool is limited to level-up attacks and those attacks don't contain good combinations, then obviously advanced tactics won't be quite as possible.4. Do foes ever use item
 s in combat? If you have enough herbs, I feel like you can sorta cheese your way to victory if you aren't being two-shotted by something. And okay, yeah, you can do that with the pokemon games too, it's true, but at least some of the bosses in those games use items to make the fight harder. Maybe you consider that an artificial difficulty enhancement, and that's fair enough I suppose. I'm also thinking of Norman's gym from RSE, where each trainer in a specific room of the gym would use an x-item on their pokemon at the start of combat. Example: in the attack room, the trainer uses an x-attack on his Zangoose right away, which gives Zangoose a boosted attack if he survives that first hit, and makes him considerably more dangerous.If you don't have ways of teaching new moves, or the type of strategy discussed in questions 3 and 4, that's fine. I'm only curious.

I was able to bring the guy his ring beforehand.Or rather, I found the ring after he sent me looking for it, went to the new city with the stadium, unlocked it, went  in, killed some tamers, then gave him his ring back. The stadium master is still unbeaten because I'm playing the demo.But I can't think of a reason why you've been trapped. If you made it to the village where the guy lost the ring, there should be nothing stopping you getting back to any of the three exits from the tunnel (one where you fought the dude who beat you and knocked you out, one to the village, one to the highroad or whatever it's called).

Greetings!I have not posted here for a while because life has come to an obstacle as they say. I am still coding Prometheus and Prometheus 2, however.I know Cosmic Rage has a mechical race and what not, and I am not going to start bashing them due to that. But Prometheus will have a mechcanical race too, as well as a backstory to it. I have been writing down notes and bits of code for it for so long that I can't just throw the idea out of the window just because another game has taken to it.The mechanicals will have, for instance:*the ability to upgrade themselves with programming cards*upgrades that have levels to them*the ability to craft mechanical items, including powerpacks, charge boosters, and a laserproof vest, from the high, medium, and low grade materials they can get from scooping, mining and trash collecting*disadvantages include, but are not limited to, suffering more damage from laser weapon shots than other racesI have also been brainstorming on an idea where you could have your own water reservoir by first melting ice from icy planets, and then purifying the water you get from that.Also, a new star-based activity, called stardriving, is under thought.Let me know if you have any ideas, suggestions, feedback etc. I'll do as much as I can with the life breathing in my neck.--Jack

As I said in post 649, my main problem with promethius was story and direction. I did some activities like trash collecting which were fun as far as they went, but just felt a trifle random. I also didn't find any combat or anything else, and much of the game, such as having to go and use a spcific console on a specific starbase, or what upgrades  did, was a little obscure to someone who hasn't tried space muds before. Myself, I'd like to see some npcs in the game who can both explain how things work, and point players new to space muds in the direction of different activities such as combat missions, also it'd be nice if there was some degree of backstory added as to for example why hunting and manual pearl diving exists in a high tech socity. I definitely like the principle in promethius, with the exploring and the way so many activities work, it would be nice if however the game was a bit more coherent in it's setting and had so
 mething by way of direction for people less used to space muds. I will say backstory is one area where Cosmic rage does extremely well, explaining where and how and why the different activities work.

This is just my opinion, and I might be wrong, but one of the reason why the developer doesn't want to add screen reader support are sounds. Like he stated in one of his privies posts, with a screen reader you can't know when it has finished speaking. You have probably noticed that sounds play at relatively the same time as when something is spoken. With screen readers that couldn't be cone, because he can't predict when a screenreader will say something. Some people have their speed at 75 % and some just at 15.Anyone who tried to play entombed with a screen reader probably knows why it's better to play it with sapi.

To each their own, then. I won't play Entombed -without a screenreader, honestly. SAPI is slow, cumbersome and makes you wait. Sometimes I want to scroll past text. As a player I want that option.@GhostRider, I have no idea how to help, I'm sorry. If you're on the path where you got knocked out, then there should be a ladder to the north of you that lets you back in. You got out there, after all, so just use the same way to come back in. I can't think of why an obstacle would crop up...which of course doesn't mean that there isn't a bug. I just can't wrap mmy head around it.Very annoyed right now. Friend decided to give me twenty-five bucks so I can cover the cost of Manamon. And now Paypal is being weird. The first couple of times I tried, it said my session timed out, even though I'd only been logged in for ten seconds or less. Now, if I try, it says there's an error and tries to send me back to the merchant page. And I 
 obviously haven't bought the game, because I have no paypal receipt and no Manamon key.

@Sochet, the find function I meant in post 9 is supernova's ability to jump instantly to any text on a webpage. You can type what text you want it to jump to, and then search with one key press, and that text will remain in the search function until you type something else. So I just hit f3, type + and then hit F4 when looking at topics I've replied to to find where someone has given me a thumbs up. I don't know how other screen readers are with this sort of function, but if there's something similar it might be useful.

One small thing I noticed that doesn't really matter but I thought I'd mention it. When a manamon goes to sleep and you use the salts to wake it up, it doesn't refer to them by nickname.

Simply play pokemon omega ruby, or pokemon cristal, and try to put a speed similar of these games or more. For example, the speed of dialogs is OK, but in battle is necessary give the option to increase this, without disabling the animation sounds.3. For example  I have a slow manamon, and when I encountered a wild manamon, it attacks me without brings me the menu to chooce mi action.With that system, is too hard train a manamon using the pass system.
