Re: What is wrong with the NFB?

The only thing I take issue with there is the fact that people will automatically be intimidated just because they might have varying degrees of vision. At the center I went to, there were at least 3 people who were losing their sight due to a variety of conditions. As a person who has had only light perception all my life, I was going there to gain confidence in skills I didn't have much experience in, i.e. mobility and cooking/home management stuff, mainly. When the others saw that I was confident using a cane inside a building, reading Braille, and just generally being a normal human being, they tended to rally around me. It made me very uncomfortable, God knows I'm not anybody's fucking role model, but the fact of the matter is that you don't all have to be brought to the same level to encourage bonding, or even seeing how the other half lives. It honestly worries me that everyone at these NFB centers are meant to be carbon copies of each other. It seems to me that, if you slap a blindfold on a person with some usable vision, but also do the same to someone who has none and never has, just to make it fair, you're setting a dangerous precedent. Namely, if you have no vision, those who do are somehow inferior, and they need to find out the hard way that it's not all it's cracked up to be. I definitely see some hostility in such a stance. Even if that's not what they're aiming for, they have a funny way of showing it.

Re: a blanket ban on discussion of games made by certain developers

No, no, and no. I am heavily opposed to this in all it's forms.I must preface this by saying I am personal friends with and a code contributor to games made by one or more of these developers. Thus my opinion might be biased so take it as you will, though I do kindly request at least impartial consideration.Discussion of the killer was banned on account of repeated topics that needed closing over the last couple months. We're not talking a few here and there either. This particular game has been quite problematic from multiple angles not the least of which could have eventual legal  complications. This all really started when the code was leaked in January or so.Ivan has made balloon master, which many people have seemed to enjoy. There is absolutely no reason that should be banned, as I don't remember a single bit of drama arising from the release.Sam and i developed Redspot, yeah there it is. We developed the game while we were still learning and growing up. By growing up, I mean 13, 14 and 15. As a result, many of our decisions weren't exactly smart. You can't necessarily blame someone for giving the community a good game at an extremely young age, meanwhile juggling everything else life happened to throw our way. The failure of Redspot can be broken down into two events that ultimately lead to it's regretful downfall. In addition, you'd be banning all his other games. Survive the wild, ah dammit, the soon to come constant motion, etc etc. These obviously have there issues, which ones don't, but the ratio of hours spent complaining to hours spent playing is honestly quite laughable.Mason has this annoying habit of creating games then running away when things fail to pan out a certain way, in all letting his emotions prematurely dictate his actions. The resulting shitstorm, every single time, is irritating and you'd think people would learn a thing or two. Still, he's created some fun titles. What follows Mason isn't necessarily drama but kids wanting every little project they can get, crying when it doesn't happen, and crying yet harder when their favorite game is discontinued. A couple days later those same people just come running back, allowing themselves to get reinvested. Thus the cycle continues. Games such as endless runner, zombie arena and scrolling battles were fun to play around with. I'm of the mind that restricting new posts from developers would ultimately be giving off a highly unwanted oppressive vibe that we a, wouldn't want and b, would live to regret.A couple problematic titles should not be grounds to ban all future projects, or put everything in one topic, or give said developers any less of a right to publicize new content. I believe with every failure comes a learning experience, a chance at doing better next time and learning from previous mistakes. Not a reason to ban everything that these creators make which could be enjoyed by the community. This is a terrible idea.

Re: What is wrong with the NFB?

2019-07-16 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : Sam_Tupy via Audiogames-reflector

Re: What is wrong with the NFB?

So I am at one of these centers' blind inc in minnesota. Please feel free to ask questions. To some extent it does depend on the center you to go it seems, for example some of the counselors here were talking about how they wouldn't want to attend CCB because of their rigid organization. The book mentioned that we apparently had to read is one that I've never heard of until you mentioned it, so I'm gonna guess that it's not a requirement here. People that have vision are required to wear shades and we are required to use those Cains though. About the vision damaging thing if they are on for a while, there are plenty of opportunities to take them off during breaks or meals, and other such things, so you are not constantly wearing them for hours and hours at a time. So, my stance on the shades. There are like, not that many counselors here, less than there are students. So individualizing everything is somewhat difficult. I think everyone being taught the same skills is probably best in this case. And the thing about vision helping you if you have it is a really good point. I read something one time recently about a study that was done where they would hand some people a stick. One end of it was heavy and the other end was light. SO they would hand them 1 end of the stick and let them properly see it so they could feel the weight. Then I don't know what they did, some kind of reflection or maybe a different stick with different markings I don't remember, but the point is that they then did something to make it look like the stick was being held differently, and they gave an end to the same person. That person often got the weight wrong because they were so quick to use only sight to figure things out. I thought that was interesting and it showed me that vision really does a lot subconsciously. I think if you go to one of these centers, you are going there to specifically learn BLINDNESS skills. It's kind of like if you are trying to teach someone how to use a hand mixer. In that case  you probably won't let them use an electric one even if it's faster, because the particular skill that is trying to be taught is the ability to use a hand mixer. Also, the fact that shades are used is no secret, so if you aren't ok with that, your always free to choose another method of training. Also not having everyone on the same level could cause issues for other students. If 2 people are in a class and mister sighted does everything much faster than mister blindy, mister blindy will have a harder time learning because all group activities may be done a lot faster. And even if that's not the case, no one likes being intimidated, which could be an effect of watching your classmate perform way better than you are simply because they are allowed to use their vision. Like I said, it's your choice to go and learn those skills. If I want to go learn wilderness survival skills somewhere, I certainly won't complain when they tell me to put my phone away, even if I'm using it's GPS to navigate, thus utilizing it as a tool to help me survive. I'm learning survival skills, and so if part of that is survival with no electricity, that's all the better because it means that if an EMP is set off over america, I may survive like 10 minutes longer because I now know how to navigate without the use of that handy GPS. It's the same here, if you have low vision, it's likely you'll lose more, and if you choose to go to a center such as this, your learning how to operate with *0! vision, encase there is a day when yours fails. It's impossible to do that while having vision because apparently it is so subconsciously powerful you can't really avoid it and if you can it would be really really hard.

The sonus can play both but if it is built for sonus it is more protected from privacy and being messed with.

GTA 5 Accessibility

Dear Fellow Audiogamers,So, I just bought the offline version of GTA 5.  I  really don't need or want the online version,  literally makes no sense for me to get it. Plus, at least on PC,  it's  more expensive.   All this  for less than $10,  certainly  worth  it. With all that being said, I  want to mod it to make it more accessible.  I  bought  it, I am perfectly within my rights to do so. I  realize  I   won't be able to do the campaign, right?  Without  the  accessibility  features? Is this true,  or  false. In any case, I am writing this topic to request that the trainers and mods and such required to make this thing accessible be sent.  I would also like to know to what extent is  this game playable even with these.  I know the developer did a great job making it happen. Anyway,  thank you all for your help in this. I'm so excited to start playing this game with a rather large world and great story.

I'll start with the initial interpretation I had.Agreed @Carter. Not to mention, I know that at least Sam has not caused this drama himself. The toxic community came from the nature of the game - online, central server, free to play, unsteady rules (that one is a bit more on Sam and Carter and the other admins), not from anything Sam did directly. He's a perfect example of how using other's actions to penalize an innocent individual would be a terrible idea.I honestly wouldn't mind someone telling Mason and Ivan to back off posting until they got things together, I.E. committed in the case of Ivan to charging or not charging, leaving things up or down etc, and emotional stability among other things for Mason, but even Still as Carter said, oppressing them would be a bad idea. Ultimately their stupid choices are and have made a bad name for them as developers, but their players do have the choice not to play. Realize that oppressing someone's annoying discussion would just result in the drama starters to find something else to start drama over. We should go after the people actually causing drama rather than the thing the drama is about. Now for my second interpretation, which I formed later on because the first paragraph of post 1 seems to set forth a firm idea, while post 2 backs off from it enough to allow an exception. So I gathered that what post 1 suggested was that we prohibit discussion of these developer's games because they cause drama, except for the new releases topic announcing them.Slightly better, because you're not effectively banning them, but still no because it then prevents people from posting legitimate  questions and concerns about the game in an easy to find, clearly marked topic, rather than a thread of 5000 posts. It also prevents the developer from announcing big updates outside of the huge topic. And it prevents all of this by nature, because each of these topics has the potential to turn into a drama fest.So to sum things up, I like your intentions and I fully agree with you that drama, especially that which involves these developers, is bullshit and it would be really friggin nice if we could find a way to stop it. However, I respectfully disagree with the way you suggest going about it.

quietstream and mousecat, maybe at least one person's solution?

Hello all. So I got a new system recently and it had some issues, such as the soundcard going to sleep after a few seconds of silence causing me to miss the start of a lot of speech or sounds, and it also has an annoying mouse pad that I wanted to disable. I have 2 very small programs to fix the issues, and I decided to release them encase it helps someone out their with 1 or both of these issues. It's especially annoying with bluetooth headphones. So both of these you can just place in your startup folder and they will run in the background. One of them constantly streams silent audio through your default playback device, which in almost all cases will prevent your soundcard or bluetooth headphones from entering sleep mode causing you to miss parts of speech or sound. The other installs a low level hook that blocks all mouse events, thus disabling annoying laptop touchpads. I'm not sure about the reliability of that last one, it seems when I open task manager it breaks at least on my system, but maybe I'll improve it and fix it at some point. They are both extremely simple programs that are under 500 bytes of code, but none the less they may help someone. Source code included with both applications. If anyone uses them and wants me to improve them, please post here! Enjoy! http://samtupy.com/QuietstreamMousecat.zip

First of all, I want to start off by saying that not everything is our fault. I can't actually help the fact that most of the people on here or who play my games are of the type who wish to have everything for free. Most of these people generally are the people who post endless topics about how this game is free, I think the developer is just money hungry aa! Also take in to consideration I have only 2 games released and one of them being an online game. I can tell you this though, for the time being, I'm done with those online games because I just do not have time to deal with the drama that comes along with keeping up a multiplayer game.

Re: What is wrong with the NFB?

I don't have extensive testing with an NFB-endorsed long cane, the kind that doesn't fold. But personally, I have an extremely good sense of touch. I can tell when carpet texture changes, or when sidewalk turns into asphalt (yes, even old sidewalk), or when one type of tile turns to another. I can do this by touching or dragging. So maybe a non-folding cane can give me more feedback, but why do I need it? I don't. If it was an all-other-things-are-equal scenario, then okay, maybe I'd try it. But the fact that you can't fold the damn thing is strikes one, two and three all in one go for me. I need portability more than I need the extra 0.03% tactile feedback I'm gonna get with a rigid cane that's going to take up space. The person who jumped on my cane was a high school dude who saw me coming, was running in my direction, tried to leap it for some reason and mistimed his jump, my speed or both. Needless to say, that cane died a hero.As for exit rows, my thinking is this. Some blind people probably can, in fact, deal with the exit-row issue, while many can't, won't or simply don't want to. I think if we happen to get seated there, it is a flight attendant's duty to go over things, and if they are legitimately not convinced of our competency, we should be moved. This goes for anyone with an obvious disability, not just blindness, and actually brings up an interesting point. What if the person in an exit row has a seizure condition, and when the exit row needs to be used, they're seizing? I mean, at that point you just have to hope that whoever's sitting there is competent. Not all sighted people are competent, and not all blind people are incompetent. If you are a blind person sitting in an exit row, then I want you to know damn well what you're doing. That applies for anyone in an exit row, honestly, but at some point I have to trust that whoever's sat there gets spoken to, and reseated if it turns out they aren't fit for the spot.

2019-07-16 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Site and forum feedback : cartertemm via Audiogames-reflector

Re: a blanket ban on discussion of games made by certain developers

No, no, and no. I am heavily opposed to this in all it's forms.I must preface this by saying I am personal friends with and a code contributor to games made by one or more of these developers. Thus my opinion is biased so take it as you will, though I do kindly request at least impartial consideration.Discussion of the killer was banned on account of repeated topics that needed closing over the last couple months. We're not talking a few here and there either. This particular game has been quite problematic from multiple angles not the least of which could have eventual legal  complications. This all really started when the code was leaked in January or so.Ivan has made baloon master, which many people have seemed to enjoy. The failure of Redspot can be broken down into two events that ultimately spelled failure and lead to it's regretful downfall. In addition, you'd be banning all his other games. Survive the wild, ah dammit, the soon to come constant motion, etc etc. These games obviously have there issues, which ones don't, but the ratio of hours spent complaining to hours spent playing is honestly quite laughable.Mason has this annoying habit of creating games then running away when things fail to pan out a certain way, in all letting his emotions prematurely dictate his actions. The resulting shitstorm, every single time, is irritating and you'd think people would learn a thing or two. Still, he's created some fun titles. What follows Mason isn't necessarily drama but kids wanting every little thing they can get, crying when it doesn't happen, and crying yet harder when their favorite game is discontinued.

@Dark eagle no problem. Interestingly enough we never had social science like that. Issues such as population, statistics about Britain and general geography occurred in geography lessons, whilst astronomy etc was all done in science. At the  school my brother went to he did study GPL that was general law and politics from age 13 onwards, one thing which set him on the path to being a solicitor, but as the school I was at was such a shithole they never offered a subject like that. things have been quiet. We finished the cursed child, and honestly whilst I'd love to see it on stage, a lot of it was a bit heavy handed, though I did enjoy seeing Ron as a rather relaxed guy. Actually, harry wasn't particularly nice in that one either, I wonder if that is a thing about the hero type character that they tend to end up being self righteous. Things here have been quiet thank goodness, I'm currently  redshirts by John Scalzy which has been down right disappointing. It was supposed to be a satire on the startrek redshirt concept where a  person gets killed instead of the main cast, but honestly it was just so heavy handed, obvious and badly written that it wasn't worth the time. I'm probably going to do a review for it, but really it was a disappointment.

Re: What is wrong with the NFB?

A few things. If you think that you have the right to sit in an exit row just because you feel it's discriminatory if you're not allowed to, then you're not someone I want around me, or to be flying with. You can't think of anything outside your own situation, and how your performance in an emergency could cost people their lives. You have no business being there if you're blind, end of story.  Regarding long canes, the hell with that noise. I can see where you could get more feedback from a solid cane that doesn't have joints just like when you shoot pool, a cue that is solid rather than two pieces screwed together makes more of a solid hit. The thing is though, the inconveniences of that just outweigh their usefulness in most cases. You could still have one around though in case of an emergency and your folding or telescoping cane broke. As for the actual organization, I see them as ruining our image, as if we ever had a positive one. Their kicking and screaming makes us all look petty and childish. I think they've had a purpose in the past, and we probably wouldn't have certain things without their intervention, but they're way over the line now.As to this G97 fellow. he sounds unbalanced and like someone I would not feel comfortable representing me. I can see where wanting his credentials is warranted. He's gone on in several posts about his law experience, with no proof that he is actually qualified. I tend to view his posts with extreme skepticism at this point, just based on his views and lack of evidence of his status of passing whatever would be the equivalent of our BAR. That being said, he has the right to his privacy. Though, if he is exercising that, he probably should also exercise his right to silence lol. As the old saying goes, don't let your mouth write checks your ass can't cash.

Re: Announcing Expanding Known Space from Valiant Galaxy Associates

2019-07-16 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — New releases room : Dark via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Announcing Expanding Known Space from Valiant Galaxy Associates

I personally agree entirely with rashad about the fleet  according to composition, that would be a really handy way to remember what you intend specific fleets for when looking through them. For fleet scattering, it would also be nice to have that o and shift o command to find ships awaiting orders, that way if worst came to worst you could find your scattered ships and just order them back to one of your planets rather than having them sit around do nothing or effectively be lost, after all in sf series like Startrek etc ships could still navigate home on their own even if it would take them a long time, look at voyager. As to other comments, I'll admit I'm feeling a bit more kindly inclined towards the guidedog client these days, especially that now both my lady and I have computers. You wouldn't believe how much trouble hardware specific keys can be, and to not have that hassle is a major help. There are several games I just haven't installed because of not having hardware specific keys. As I said back at the time I'm not a huge fan of the name "guidedog games" myself, but hay I don't really think much to the name "breed memorial" either, and people will know how much I enjoy that game. As far as self voicing goes, the voice could be a little clearer, but as I've done voicing for games myself I'm not going to argue about this, and playing with speech delay is often a good idea. My personal one major problem with the self voicing is that the developers aren't really taking advantage of the fact that this is an audiogame and not a text game, since at the moment there are so few sound effects, you might as well be playing with text, thus the point of having a game which is an audio game with self voicing capacity isn't' really being met. for Slj and others having trouble I'll try and explain a bit of how things work, since unfortunately there are so many different methods of doing each individual thing, and the documentation explains them in detail, that it is possibly a little confusing when your learning the game. The game is played on a 20 x 20 board. In this board are planets, ships  and hazards. For each planet you own, you get some more income per turn which you can use to buy ships, thus the first phase is the purchice phase where you decide what ships to buy and which planet to put them on. After this comes the movement phase when you move your existing ships around the board. Your objective here is to explore the board revealing more planets, colonise planets, and possibly fight off the enemy. Each ship type can move a different number of squares per turn, but only in the cardinal directions,  destroyers can move three squares, interceptors, crusers and frigates two while battleships and colony ships can move just one square. The most basic way to move your ships around is to go through them with s and shift s, and then just move them with shift and the arrow keys, however this is rather time consuming, so there are a large number of different ways to order your ships, for example if you hit A you can open the autonav menu where you can set a destination for your ship like another planet, or set your ship on scout mode where it'll automatically move across and down each turn exploring the board for you. hit V on a ship to see if it has an autonav set.Since you have a lot of ships, a good way of speeding things up is to gather them into fleets. As well as being an easier way to move large numbers of ships around, fleets also offer ships protection from hazards or enemy attacks . Fleets will always move at the speed of the slowest ship, so a fleet with a colony ship will move at one square per turn, even if it contains faster ships like destroyers and interceptors. Just as you can go through your ships and order them with s and shift s, you can go through your fleets and order them with f and shift f You can make and manage fleets with the e key, including adding more ships to them. After you've finished moving your ships around, there then comes the combat phase, if there is any combat, and finally the placement phase, when those ships you bought will appear on your planets. Your then back to purchicing ships for your next turn.In the lightning game, your objective is to colonise as many planets as possible, which means first launching destroyers or interceptors to explore the board (use the autonav scout mode). then building colony ships and sending them out, preferably with a decent escort fleet), to colonise new planets. So, begin by sending an interceptor or a destroyer off with scout mode, though leave the rest of your ships since even after you build a colony ship you'll need some escort. You should find some nearby  planets to your colonies very quickly, make sure to explore the board with the arrows, so in the purchase phase be sure to build a colony ship and place it on one of your planets, preferably one that

I would certainly agree and second this, but we need to come up with a way for this not to be or seem discriminatory for outsiders. Yet again its just amazing the very low attitude that these developers themselves also bring to the table in some instances, its just unfortunate.

Re: What is wrong with the NFB?

Hi:I just finished reading this thread ... parts of it were downright hilarious (Jade, how old was the lad or lass who jumped on your cane?) ... Does a cane up to one's nose really sound practical? For anyone? I'm about five ft. eleven, and a cane long enough to reach my nose sounds like a safety hazard even for regular use, especially where I live, where crowds are more common than not. As for the NFB, I'm afraid their reach doesn't extend to The Bahamas in any meaningful way, so the only thing I can do is compare them to our own local organization, THe Bahamas Alliance for the Blind, which is a rather young organization. While the NFB may pursue its goals aggressively, it  does seem to get the job done, one way or another. Now I'll grant that our  organization is young, but the peaceful way of doing things doesn't always work, especially when you're fighting cultural stigma as well. The Equal Opportunity Bill of RIghts, which is pretty much what its name suggests, was passed in 2011, and yet blind people are still treated with either cloying pity in a lot of case, or overbearing concern. Disdain isn't quite so prevalent, but it does happen. Even in government offices one runs into the "he's blind, let him sign an X" stereotype, or the more hilarious "who bathes you and dresses you?" An organization that works aggressively to squash those kinds of stereotypes isn't a bad thing in my book. That being said, force is best used judiciously; you don't use a sledgehammer to do a screwdriver's job, and it sounds like in a few cases the NFB has favored the sledge over the screwdriver. What was the problem between Apple and the NFB? Both have been active on the accessibility front, as I understand it. If someone has an informed answer, I'm curious to know.

Rashid,As to scattering, that's why battleships are the way they are.  I've hit that destroyer fleet issue many many times myself, and I hear your cries.  As Michael said, I usually give up on a fleet at that point.  If I have a fleet that is that important, that it shouldn't scatter, I invest in at least one battle ship and suck up the fact that it'll be slower.  If the hazard doesn't scatter a fleet all across the map, in that situation, I usually build three or four smaller destroyer fleets and send them on to a rendezvous or on to their destination depending on what the purpose of that fleet was.As to the documentation, good point, that's something that should be added.  It was simply an oversight.  I'll make sure to add that some time in the next few days.Take care,Jeremy

Hello Chris,Thank you for your feedback. 1. Amount won is a bit tricky because sometimes there are splits, sometimes 3 way showdowns with all ins and different stack sizes where you have 2 or even more winners. So it is much additional work for now, and i would rather focus on real money sites and leave this for later.2. If you press B shortcut, it will tell you the size of big blind. Once you know size of big blind, small blind is always half less, or for some stakes like 0.02/0.05 it is not exactly half less, but it is the only exception. For the tournaments, it will say also the size of ante. When you take a seat, it tells you the size of big blind and the size of small blind. For me, the trick is to get more people involved in the project. Like ask a friend of yours to write the story, a second one to design the sounds and a third to create music for your project, gather graphics or something else. As soon as multiple people are involved, they can motivate each other respectively. At least that is what keeps my motivation up. Its totally normal to lose interest of a project after months of hard work, but you should be able to recover from those downtimes if other people are involved who are still motivated and give feedback and do something for the project too.Best Regards.Hijacker

Hey Folks,I recently discovered a MUD named avendar: the crucible of legends. It is a Fantasy themed mud. It has a quite detailed character creation and appears to be very accessible. I haven't played much in this game already, but I just felt like posting it in here because it has not been mentioned in this Forum. The Webpage is:http://www.avendar.net/The Connection Details are:Host: avendar.netPort: (my Name in the game is Libia, if you feel like contacting me :-) )

What do you do when...

You've got a great project in the works. Everything is going perfect. Your alpha testers love it. The mechanics work. Aand then comes the dreaded crash. You all know it, where you, for one reason or another, completely lose interest in the project, and scrolling by the code gives you a headache. You don't write code for this project in days, maybe even weeks, potentially even months...So what do you do to recover or at least get moving again? This has happened to me far too many dozens of times to even begin to count projects I've deleted or archived away for one reason or another. Lol!Thanks for reading this short topic!

a blanket ban on discussion of games made by certain developers

I just saw the off topic room, and was wondering if this could be taken further. Certain developers seem to repeatedly come up in the drama cycle, and I'm wondering if we as a community could just put our foot down and say enough is enough.I propose that we stop allowing new topics about games from Sam, Ivan and Mason, as all of them seem to be monthly drama topic generators. Nothing against these people personally, they just have a truly toxic community of players it seems. To be fair, they should be allowed to have a single topic in the new releases room per game, as when someone visits that topic they will know what to expect, but the offshoot threads of drama just keep popping up.

OK, so I have been playing with this new release now and first of all, thanks for implementing the information about folding.I do have some more comments:1. When a hand is finished, I'd like to know how much a player has won. For example, player2 won 305 chips, etc and not just that the player won, except when folding. What do you think, would it be possible to implement?2. How to find out how much the small blind is?Hope that others will jump in here as well. This is a very good project from my opinion and I can't wait to try it in a tourney.

Re: Announcing Expanding Known Space from Valiant Galaxy Associates

Right, after a little fiddling, here are my thoughts.First, again, the voice. I'm sorry, but honestly it's just bad. I understand that you want to save coding time ETC, but the accent of whoever did the voice is really, really dificult to understand and headache inducing over long periods of times. I really only managed to play for an hour before having to call it quits, even after purchasing the game, because my brain just couldn't handle trying to figure out what was being said anymore. This isn't meant as a bash at whoever recorded the voice, but for example I had one of my friends who is not a native English speaker mess around with this and they just couldn't follow at all even if they really concentrated. The game already has the ability to output to Sapi, really how much extra coding would it be to make all text output to sapi rather than just planet descriptions? As for the actual game play, it's neat with a few minor annoyances. Firstly, like some others, I wish there were a way to name fleets, or for fleets to gain automatic names based on what was in them, E.G: wolfpack if the fleet was only destroyers, or battle fleet if it contained battleships, ETC.Next, scattering ships is really frustrating. For example, I had a quick strike fleet of 50 destroyers set up. When it scattered, I suddenly had destroyers all over the map, with realistically no non-frustrating way to get them all back to where I needed them. I understand that this is sort of the intention, but to make it easier on the player, could all scattered ships have autonav automatically set on them to all group back up one unit away from where they scattered (to avoid the hazard that scattered them). Also, something in the documentation to tell the player about planetary occupation would be nice, I only discovered this through trial and error.

As for the internet connectivity, I would suggest looking into a system where it stores an activation locally for a period of time, say 30 days, during which time it doesn't need to connect. Then a person would only need internet once a month and would make things like playing in a car or plane much more viable.

Hey Charles. Yeah I get the desire for more buttons. But the PCP is the PC version of the game console. And mimics the amount of buttons available, which is limited like any other console. How many people overcome this is by combining buttons. Such as holding bottom 5 enter let's say a stat mode. Then button 1 while holding 5 would say you health. And button 2 while also holding 5 could say your stamina etc.I hope this limitation isn't a huge problem. I'm sure mechanics can be implemented to still achieve the games you want to make. And i would be happy to help you achieve them.

Re: Trying to create a door I can open and close with the GDE.

GDE is a cool project to be honest. But the limited buttons make it hard to add more features. For example, if I'd make a game that has a lot of stats such as health stamina or whatever, I wouldn't have enough keys to check all of these things instead I'll have to make a menu for stats yet if all of the numbers from 1 to 5 are already used, you'll not be able to do anything about it, because usually the w, s, a and d keys will be used to move. But still, I could make a menu that has other menus, so let's say, I'll press 1 to open a menu, then I have, stats, weapons, save game, load game and whatever, but this would just make it harder for the players because they'll have to open the menu, open the other menu they want and then their gonna find the thing they wanted in the first place. It's maybe not designed for this type of games but just wanted to say my opinion. Regards.

There are two reasons I will not be trying/buying this game. First, the association with guidedog games. I will not support a platform with that name, or any game that uses it. The second is the self voicing and lack of a sapi or screen reader option.

In NHL view, select collapsing or staggered in defensive strategies. Your players will do a better job of protecting the net instead of getting ready for point shots coming from your opponent.

Re: Pokémon Crystal Access

It has more pokemon than the original, new moves (though no new animations for said moves), all types, some property changes for some moves, pokemon have genders, shiny pokemons, etc. And as of version 3.0, the author somehow converted the sound engine from Gen 2 to use in this game, which can be good or bad depending on which move you use. Most importantly, it means pokemon from Gen 2 have their own cries, which is cool. So, it's somewhat the Gen 1 equivalent of Polished Crystal, like Roaming Red is more or less the Gen 1 equivalent of Crystal Clear. Red++ V4 will actually use Polished Crystal as a basis, if I remember correctly.

Ah ok, was already wondering because I didn't hear anything xD.So, I played a game, well, got nailed 3 to 1, as always, still my defence is the big issue. Offensevly, I get a few good shots off, but they don't really hit.I have to get defending down again. Any hints? Also might be due to me having to look up the controls again, i know that the pass key changes active player.Greetings Moritz.

Re: Explanation of the recent tk topic.

it isn't that people mess with source code, it's how that code was obtained. The people doing this lack any grounding in moral and ethical issues, and feel that if the code is out there, they are entitled to it, regardless how it actually got released. Mason left a bunch of open source BGT stuff out there they could go after, but those aren't online FPS's so forget that. Python is a bit harder, but still, tons of stuff on github to mess with. Maybe not audio game related things, but certainly there are projects related to audio. I've seen media players, synthesizers, etc.

Re: Trying to create a door I can open and close with the GDE.

Yay, I've got it done correctly now. Not a thing happens if I press button 2 when not colliding with the generator starter lever. Wow. I am glad that is done. I assume that I could now effectively use button 2 to open and close doors since I got that button to stop doing things with the generator. Lol.  Now, I can make it get deeper in my brain cause I'm gonna put a window air conditioning unit in the house that you can turn on and off just like the generator. But, could you help me with the original reason this topic was created? Lol. The Door. Man, you are an awesome star. I love working with you. I know I'll get this stuff grasped and be able to actually truly create an audio game. Again, like we've said before. Yes, this is a big thing I'm taking on. But, I really really love the challenge. It really tests my mind and patients. I need that kind of thing right now as I really don't have anything else to do. and It helps keep my mind off current stressful situations. So, thanks again for creating this awesome program and helping me work these things out so I can actually recreate the stuff using another set of objects and test if I've got it right or not. If not, I can just go back to the original code used on the first of those objects and adjust as needed.

Giving people projects was the idea. I'm really glad it's been something that can benefit you and have a positive impact. Criticism can improve things but knowing your helping someone definitely keeps the motivation up.As for the door. I'll need code to look at. Anything that affects the players movement in the player object and the door object.

Re: Breed Memorial - New monster breeder simulation game by Morokuma

Okay, heres my thing on fusion, it doesn't seem like my fused monsters get any stronger. I've fused many many many generations of monsters together, and I feel like really only the first or maybe second fusion will continue to increase your effectiveness. I've tried fusing monsters that I've fused like twice over together, and still nothing, it seems like stats are stuck at a certain level and will not go any higher through fusing no matter how many times you do it. If someone could post to prove me wrong or tell me what I'm doing wrong that would be awsome but i'm pretty sure I'm doing it right.Another thing, how in the world did you guys get any stats to 999, and how did you do it without your monster being pretty much dead and not even being able to use those stats. I think I agree the age limit or something needs to be increased for certain monsters, not just for the simple fact that every animal has it's own life span, but also because even if you put monsters in hybernation, and only use them for high rank competitions, I still found they die quite quickly and are barely able to make it to S rank. I've gotten a monster with over 800 in some statts, but his life span was horrible and i barely got to use him for any competitions.Update on my getting a monster to live with high stats though, I got one to have a bit over 650 in all stats, and he was still alive at 5 years 5 months before I put him in retirement my self, I don't even think he's a lasty yet, but I was close to that 5 year 6 month mark so I figured I'd better quit.
