Shipyards can only be built on land squares next to water squares. If you try to build it anywhere else you'll get that error.

Went and downloaded the game, installed locale emulator, made an application profile with chinese and tried running the game with that, but it doesn't open and I just get a file that ends with crash.dmp. Can anyone briefly explain to me what I'm supposed to do? I've never played any chinese or japanese game before so have no idea how this works.

I didn't play it for a long time, but actually recently got back into it. It's unfortunate that the android client is still inaccessible. Maybe try contacting the developers? Although I must say, they seem a lot less responsive than they used to be. The map is mostly fine with voice over, you can do what you need to do with it. I'm currently on USA17 if anyone's interested.

Sorry to hear about your mother, I hope she's doing alright and eventually makes a full recovery.I personally prefer strategy games, turn-based more than realtime but I like both (tactical battle and sound rts are two examples). I also like managing things like in warsim, which has combat but is also focused on other aspects of running a kingdom. I guess my dream come true scenario would be something like the civilisations games.

I guess the biggest problem for this game is that it has had relatively few players, probably due to it not being free. So not enough people to make content for it, unlike tactical battle which has many map packs. It's also a lot more restricted in what you can do with it, I mean there are several parameters you can play with but in tactical battle you can basically create almost anything.

I wish there was a pc version, my phone's battery is not doing so well these days so playing games on it is not really very practical any more. Yeah I realised sanctuary takes way too much too often very quickly, so don't have that on. I used to be able to cast it without any issues, but now it says I don't have enough charisma. I didn't play for a while so it might have been a change in the mean time. Besides for those you mentioned I also have a few others on recast, can't remember all of them but I know crystal coat, fly and bless are there. Not sure if bless actually does anything useful, but fly prevents me from being tripped during which I can't do anything, so I feel like that's also important to have. So should I rather focus om my mana instead of trying to get more hitpoints? Besides for items is there any other way to increase mana regeneration rate?

Didn't want to start a new topic for this but I have a similar question. I have a druid mage cleric warrior necromancer at the moment but I find that I'm pretty squishy and die pretty quickly when my minion and earth wall goes. I keep a bunch of protective spells from the mage and cleric on recast, and they definitely make a difference but not enough. Also, if I fight to often I tend to run out of mana after which I'm pretty much screwed. I didn't have too much trouble on the first two islands barring a few exceptions, but the third island is a lot more challenging. Does anyone have suggestions, or should I restart with a different order?

I can't see any ratings actually, I'm not sure if ratings are country-specific but I've always suspected that they are. This is so unfortunate, it's hard to believe that you actually get people who do this for a game for which they know accessibility is coming. Why would you leave 1 star reviews if you know they are working on it, especially if it's a developer who has previously made a good accessible game?Oh and also agree that the comments that say this is indicative of whatever about blind people or what this community has become are unfair given that most of us clearly aren't like this. That doesn't mean we shouldn't do anything about it though, like many other aspects of life it's very possible for a small minority to ruin things for the rest if we don't actively counter it.

I think the main issue with something like this in audio is that it would be hard to look things up, since you can't do a find or skip to a specific page the way you can do in text. Although not sure how the audio is subdivided, so it might be easier to find the sections than I think, but would still be a lot less convenient if you quickly want to check something. Not sure what kind of visual content they contain, but having that described could be a benefit you wouldn't get in text.

Found a bug. Don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but I recruited my second vigilante, then tried to upgrade my first one which had 18 points. But when I tried going into the menu it showed me the menu for the second one, where I couldn't do anything because there were no points to spend there, and trying to go into the upgrade menu of the second one just told me I can't because there are no points to spend.

Mission 2 is more challenging now, I managed to win it but batman keeps dying relatively early. He does not do well with combat, but he's useful in stunning several enemies with the hook thing. Then I use iron man to grapple an enemy to pull it away from batman, but he still ends up dying in fights with people. Once I did a combo attack on someone which resulted in batman losing 20 health and dying

Haven't tried the first one, but I managed to beat the second one. I did take damage with the fights, and the ranged blast didn't do much damage so didn't really rely on it too much, but stunning them by all the different means available kept me mostly safe. The pinning any enemy at a border anywhere on the map might be a bit OP, maybe either reduce the range or the duration of the stun. Like keyisfull said, stuns might last a bit long in general. Of course if enemies are meant to become more powerful or numerous in future then it would be fine, but for now it is a bit too powerful. One bug I noticed is that when you move around in the map view, when you reach a border and arrow one more in that direction it moves one item in the menu of the character that was last selected. And winning doesn't actually take you out of the mission, don't know if it's supposed to be this way for now but you just stay in there with only the ability to move your characters around, and a victory message every time you end the turn. Over all it's a fun little game, hope you continue working on it.

I like age of warlords because the excessively many weaker units I can just set to AI and have them do their own thing. I only manually manage the more powerful units with abilities that the AI wouldn't know to use properly. So even though the number of units can get a bit much at least you don't have to control them all individually, you can let the AI do some or even all of the work for you if you want.About the map in the study, it wasn't anything revolutionary, it also used directional sounds to indicate what's around you, and other basic things already used in games. But I'm assuming the point is to improve it, so there might be more interesting things in future.Oh and the tactical battle multiplayer has been buggy for a long time actually, not sure when it started because it did work once upon a time.

Agreed with defender, TOC got very boring in large campaign settings because it was just a pain to micromanage so many units when you don't actually know where they are in relation to other units and cities. It was just impossible to keep track of everything on huge maps like that. Plus tb feels more strategic because the units can have many different kinds of abilities, so there's more you can do with fewer units.@Ian:There was actually a user who posted on the forum recentlyish who's apparently doing his masters on the topic of creating maps for blind people to navigate. He had a study where he interviewed people and gave us the map to navigate, and we had to perform some tasks and give feedback. Maybe you guys should get into contact? I didn't really have issues with getting a mental picture of maps in tactical battle, but I was always lost in time of conflict. Probably because maps in tb are smaller, and you only move orthogonally which makes figuring out paths and distances much easier than when a diagonal move is possible. Sounds like an interesting concept though, it would be useful to have something that helps with getting a grip on larger maps.

Nah time of conflict isn't nearly as good as tactical battle. And it has a few default map packs, but there isn't much to them. I feel like time of conflict could have been much better if it had been developed further, but as it stands tactical battle is better and has much more content.

We mostly play crazymod, but we could also do the original.The game does get slow if someone has a slow connection. It's not necessarily yours, it could be anyone on the game. You can test it by adding an AI and having people leaving one by one, the game will become faster after the person causing the slowdown has left.

It might not be a bad idea to get a few more mods though given how many people have left your team recently. With extra people you could probably spread the load more so that it's less stressful on everyone. Don't know who you would prefer to get, but maybe promoting news posters like CAE Jones might be a good place to start, I'm assuming them kind of already being in the loop would make it an easier transition.

The developer of park boss and tube sim recently announced their intention to create a city sim game, although given how recent that was the game is probably still a long way off. Besides for that, like others have said AHC is probably the most revolutionary thing lately, it seems to be as popular as swamp was back in the day.I haven't really been following the forum as much so there are probably a lot of games that I'm not aware of, and not sure how long you haven't been around, but you might want to try survive the wild as something that hasn't been done before it. I would also add soundRTS, tactical battle and swamp to the list of games that were pretty innovative. I'm also not really into playing the eurofly missions, I know some people love it but I just don't find it that interesting. But I still have it for the world map you can navigate without playing, that is pretty unique.

The game I've gotten back to more than any other is probably soundRTS. I never really play it offline though, but it remains one of my favourite games to play online. The other one is tactical battle, I started with it later than soundRTS but also keep coming back to it. I guess I like strategy.

The multiplayer worked for a bit after 2.0 got released, but stopped working at some point. I actually haven't played this game in a long time, so don't really think it was worth the money. It really does have great potential like dark said but needs a bit of work in my opinion. I love strategy games, but the way TOC is designed is just too complex. You can't keep track of everything (not sure if the bit of graphics maybe help, but with just audio it's not practical). The other thing is you basically just make units who can attack or bombard, and that's all they can do. So you just move them around and tell them to attack other units or cities, which is fun for a while but I tend to lose interest after some time. Tactical battle is a lot more interesting since units can have different skills, which makes it more strategic for me. I don't know of any modern TOC-style map packs, but anyone with enough time and creativity can make one. You might want to try age of warlords (one of the map packs on TB), it's a somewhat similar concept but with a medieval fantasy setting.

That sounds like a great idea, I would definitely play it. The only suggestion I can think of at the moment is to have happiness and health indicators for your population that you would need to manage that result in negative consequences if they get to low. Also a crime rate in your city could also be interesting.

I'm in the low 20s but archais is definitely harder than I'm used to, although the last bits of kordan did also start to get challenging (I was very surprised when a parrot killed me with one hit!) The game is still fun though, and I like the area descriptions; that zombie island was pretty funny.About the empire mud, it actually sounds like something I would like to try. I really enjoy strategy games, so might be my thing. Does anyone know if keyisfull's server is still running?

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't feel like restarting right now, especially since I've started so recently so it would be boring to repeat everything I've done so soon, but I'll keep it in mind when I do start over eventually. I just went with warrior for fourth class so hopefully it makes my char less squishy. The problem with items that provide mana regen is they have low armour, so I can't have too many of them (I already have to cast shield and armour and faith shield to survive, and having to keep recasting that also drains mana). I've realised earth wall is quite useful, but again a drain on mana and you can't keep doing that unless you have enough time between battles to recover your mana. At least now I can kick stuff, not that it does much damage though so I mostly have to use spells anyway, but the extra hp does help.I didn't know druid cast increases the power of your spells, that's interesting. I was actually wondering what that meant. I found a few items with that (like the robe and other stuff in the grove AlexN94 suggested), but wearing that makes me significantly weaker. But if it does increase the strength of your minions, does it depend on what you had when calling them or what you have at the moment? Because if it is the former I can call my animal while wearing that then switch to the other stuff for a fight.I was also disappointed to learn that I can't use the control weather stuff unless I'm outside, and since most of the quests involve going inside somewhere I wasted the practices I spent on learning to control weather + calling thunder and lightning. It makes sense though, but wish I had known that before. Also, does anyone know how the consecrate armour spell of the cleric works? Because I put a few pracs into it but when I use it on anything it tells me the magic won't bind to it or something like that. And I don't want to waste more pracs on it if it's not worth it.

help with alter eon

I have a few questions. My char is a druid, mage, and clerick at this point. Does anyone have suggestions for a fourth class? The issue I'm having is my char is way too weak. It loses hp too fast, which has caused me to die once and almost die several other times, and I'm only on the second newbie island. Also, I drain my mana quickly during a fight, and it takes a while to recover, and I'm pretty much useless without it. So on the one hand I think I should go for necro as it would help my mana, but on the other hand I'm thinking I need something that can fight without mana so I can at least still do something when my mana runs out.Also, I know increasing wisdom and intelligence increases my mana max, but how do I increase the rate of mana regeneration?My other question is how does brewing salves and tinctures work? Should I just gather herbs and do brew tincture analyse until I find something?

Interesting, none of Sam's games have ever been flagged as malware by my antivirus. I'm using kaspersky, which as far as I know is a good antivirus. Way back when I had norton I would regularly get false positives; even swamp was malware according to it.

That is a problem, new map packs are only announced on the mailinglist, and can easily get lost between all the messages. There used to be a list on Ian Reed's website, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore. Someone should create a website and gather all the available map packs out there.

I really don't understand what triggers stw and redspot speedhacks either. I can mostly play without incident, but will sometimes randomly get them for no apparent reason.

In your mod you should include a "ui" folder, which should contain a "sounds" folder and a file called "styles.txt". Sounds are handled by the styles.txt file, look at the default one (in res) or that of the crazymod as an example. To add a sound you use "noise repeat", can't remember what the first number is but I think it's the interval between repeats of the sound, followed by the name of the sound file.As for your suggestion, I agree that would be very useful. I wish someone would take up development of the game again, it's really good as is but it has the potential to be much better.

We made some maps that we play on; the standard maps were made when the game was very different so most are a problem to play on now.At SLJ: I know on public servers people are not allowed to make a game with only themselves and AIs, there must be at least two human players. Maybe this is what people were trying to do? I have no idea though, just speculating.

Also voted for eurofly. Interesting that the atlas thing is what the game was originally designed for, because that's all I use. The flying doesn't interest me much, but the detailed world map fascinates me. If redspot was an option in the poll it would have made my choice much more difficult; it and soundRTS are my favourite multiplayer games to play with my friends.

As far as I know unfortunately not. I've always wanted an accessible civilisation-style game but as far as I know no accessible game comes close. Games you might want to look at are time of conflict, castaways and tactical battle. I would also recommend soundRTS; it's a realtime strategy game but is very fun to play online.

It's the perfect time to start playing because you won't have to deal with people with overwhelming force that are impossible to beat. Looking for SoundRTS players

SoundRTS has always been one of my favourite games to play, but most of the time we're just a few friends playing it on one of our own servers. This is mostly because we've made our own maps, because most of the maps in SoundRTS don't work well with the CrazyMod. But it's more fun to play with more people, so basically I'm looking for people to join us. Anyone interested?

Slj, it's actually very simple. Your server doesn't have to work for other people, it's just that the mod only really works online. You can play it offline as well, since you can upgrade your townhall to the race of your choice's townhall building, but the AI doesn't always do the same.
