Re: 3 years of android updates promised by Qualcomm

It boggles me that everyone including tech journalists are mentionning Pixel as if it were a good example for explaining such things. Thing is, they aren't. Why? Because flagship pixel are released at nearly the end of the year, so almost a year in the support of there SoC.Pixel 2 got from Android 8 to Android 11, but there were many phones on Android 7 with the same SoC, Snapdragon 835. From what we know, if Essential didn't go bankrupt, the Ph1 would have gone from 7 to 11.So either what Qualcomm announced is the same or even worse than before, or Google didn't release any security fix at the SoC level in 2020 on the Pixel 2, cause 4 years of security update support from Qualcomm is supposedly new?The new rules about the BSP are nice, but unless it's nice enough to make Qualcomm lower there price on their software stack, why would we think OEMs would cooperate more than they do now?

Well, for what it's worth, the Talkback in OneUi 3 has two things which were in Voice Assistant, the focus indicator and the toggle to switch between lift and double tap for typing, and Google's version doesn't have such things. So they have kinda not axed it really. If anything, the time would be more than adequate to resurrect Voice Assistant's old name, Galaxy Talkback. Also @TheBlindSaiyan: Talkback is still on the Play Store, and Samsung develops it's own version on the Galaxy Store.

Re: what do you guys regret

2020-09-27 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : pulseman45 via Audiogames-reflector

Re: what do you guys regret

Not too much regret in my childhood, except perhaps how bad of a pupil I was at piano lessons, and especially how easily I would get angry. I feel like I should try to find back my piano teacher from the time, on Facebook or what not, and apologize to her. Also, like @5, I could get disappointed when receiving clothes during Christmas or my birthday but it was relatively brief at least.However:@7: I experienced a story that almost ended like yours and may in fact still do, and it's quite a part of why my life changed quite a bit recently. It was with a girl I encountered like 6 years ago, and eventually I realised how muchI loved her and in fact still do. Thing is I didn't know how to tell her, and more problematic was the fact that she lived more than a couple hundred killometers away from me, and I was not sure how to deal with that.TO put things in perspective, I was still living by my father's until quite recently, and agreed with him that I had to find a goal, besides love, for moving far away. But when I would think about something, the question about how realistic it was kept coming on the table and again I was always kind of stuck. This happened for more than a year.Meanwhile, I learn from a friend that the girl I was talking about fell in love with him, and I felt it was deserved as I thought that he delt better with things overall. It didn't last for long though for some reason, but at that point I felt like moving on anyway. It was in September 2019, when I started to use Facebook more seriously and realised how she had a more fulfilling life than mine, that my love for her suddenly resurfaced. Oh god did it feel bad at first. At night, I wouldn't necessary dream or do  nightmares, yet I would easily wake up in a stream of regret, eyes filled with tears like a child out of a bad dream and a nauseous waight on my chest as if I was waking up from anesthesia. All in all, I decided I would study musicology near where she lives, no matter how realistic it may feel, and that's what I'm doing, it's a fine experience so far. Today is exactly one year since I told her my feelings, and though she said she wasn't thinking too much about such things at the time, at least I know that even if it doesn't work between us, the scenario won't be the exact same as last time, and at least a bit easier to bear. I still haven't seen her in person since I moved, though it's clear that both the Covid and the fact we are focusing on our studies don't help.So you get it, I still kind of regret to this day not telling her earlier, and spending so much time by my father's wondering what to do. If I didn't have such regrets I wouldn't have felt so bad when falling in love with her again.

If it is safe, I probably would choose to recover my vision, though I personally expect to be quite old if it ever gets real, at least in my sixties or even seventies, so by then I may judge it is not worth it. It would be hard to be accustomed to it, I mean, waking up and suddenly facing all those informations at once which you can't quite make sense of would probably feel like hell. It would take a lot of efforts to make it usable, but I hardly see myself giving it up because of that.I was born with retinoblastoma and don't have any memory of sight, so for me also it's about being curious.

And at some point it would make some random noise at full volume and scare the hell out of me. Needless to say I really had enough, especially since I already knew about Talks on Nokia phones. So I got a C5 03, my first attempt at touch screens, and I wasn't very good at using it so got a E5. Re: GBoard lag on Xiaomi Redmi note 8 pro

For those who feel G-Board is a bit laggy using Talkback, remember that, given there are Talkback specific gestures with one finger, Talkback will obviously intercept your input for a split second in case you would do a gesture. It doesn't behave differently even if you are touching the virtual keyboard. Of course, Talkback developers could make it stop checking for gestures if your finger is on the keyboard, or reduce the time during which gestures are checked, but I'm not sure how much it would actually be appreciated by user.So that's how it works, and even though I heard about the typing experience being good on Pixel phones, I'd bet it might as well have to do with low touch-latency, though I may very well be wrong.

Re: getting a new android phone and need some help

If the camera is not accessible enough, perhaps you should try Open Camera, I have heard it is accessible. I don't know how well it will perform on the device but it's probably something to consider.Another, harder alternative is to try to find a modified version of Google Camera that works for your device. It is harder because it is obviously something you won't obtain via the Play Store and will have to install manually, which I don't know if you have done before. Plus, depending on where you live, your Samsung will have either an Exynos processor or a Snapdragon one, so you will have to search according to that.So for now at least I would say, try Open Camera.

That's cool, on my OnePlus on Android Pie, I can only modify media or accessibility volume without going to audio settings. This is probably the stock volume slider from Pie and I find the one on Oreo pretty much superior in every possible way. I wonder what other shortcomings from stock are fixed by OneUI, I read long pressing bluetooth or WiFi in quick settings doesn't lead to settings, but shows a list of devices, like on Oreo. If so that is cool too.

Besides what was said above, the main attraction on Huawei flagships and even moreso with the P series is the camera, and I don't know if you would use it often. If you don't care too much about the camera, then Samsung's hardware is overall more interesting, with haptic motor and stereo speakers and what not.As for choosing between S10 and Note 10, it all depends if you prefer having a headphone jack for the S, or both a stylus and better haptic for the Note. The battery may also be a bit bigger on the Note series in general but I'm not sure.

I've used some kind of electric Perkins Brailler back in the early 2000s at school. It had a switch to turn it on and off, a volume wheel as the thing makes a few beeps in a musical way when it is turned on or off, and above the perkins keyboard were three round buttons with quite some space between them. The one in the middle was used to enter codes to modify certain settings if I remember correctly. The one on the left and on the right had oval buttons right under them, and the oval button under the right round button was used to validate the codes I talked about earlier. Also this thing could be connected to a printer, and it's probably why they switched me from the manual to the electric perkins eventually, as not all the teachers I had could read braille. Is this the model you were talking about? I guess there were probably more recent itterations since then.

In the case of gbs, it can't find gbs.bin and gbs.o. I suppose said files are supposed to be generated and then deleted when the gbs is made so I still probablyhave an error somewhere in my code. Unfortunately, in the case of gbs, the command prompt displays so many things NVDA can't read all of it. It may be less problematic if NVDA starts reading when I validate a command like it used to do before, but as of the most recent version, it doesn't, or something else makes it buggy. That's still a good step forward, so thanks for your help nonetheless.

Hello everyone, I'm not sure resurrecting this thread was the thing to do, but the subject of my question is still related to XPMCk so I thought I would ask it here.See, I have made a MML file that XPMCK manages to convert into assemblee, but in order to compile into GBS, WLA-DX is required. To build WLA-DX for Windows, I would think I may have to use MinGW. The thing is, when I use the installation Manager known as MinGW-Get, I'm not sure it installs all the necessary packages. The executable for the installation manager is the only thing I get in the "bin" subfolder, and I fear that extra steps I may have to do with the manager may not be accessible. So, if anyone is familiar with compiling WLA-DX on Windows, can you tell me how it is done?Regards,Pulseman

Re: A few XPMCK-related questions

@Musicalman: I have the file you were talking about in PPMCK, and used it whenever I wanted to compile something. It's fine if I just have to move it to the GBC folder. And, yeah, the problem with wavetable synthesis is that I tend to recognize it when it's used, in old consoles at least, and tend to think it generally sounds cool, but I'm not familiar with how it works and imagined it a bit simpler. Nor am I familiar with Goldwave or sample editing. What I might do first is experiment with what is already available in XPMCK since the "common.mml" file has a few predefined stuff for wt, and then I'll see what I can do since I'll likely want more. The ability to convert .wav files should help, and anyway, thanks for explaining all the conversion process as I may have to do it manually.

A few XPMCK-related questions

2019-10-22 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : pulseman45 via Audiogames-reflector

A few XPMCK-related questions

Hello everyone,As the title says, I have a few questions related to the XPMCK MML compiler. The first is about compiling a track, in my case it would be in .gbs. Am I supposed to put a MML file in XPMCK/Demo/GBC and use the mkgbs.bat file? It doesn't seem to work and it may be because of an error, but the terminal gets closed before NVDA can read everything, so I'm not sure. As a side note, I have no problem compiling in PPMCK.The second question is about wavetable synthesis on the GameBoy. From what I understood from the manual, I can create a wave form with the @wt command by entering 32 values from 0 to 15, but I'd be interested to get more information about how the value defines the sound, though I guess it might be quite hard to explain. If it is the case, I'm OK with experimenting, but as I said I'm not sure I know how to compile. Finally, I'd be interested in knowing what is the latest build of XPMCK for Windows. Besides the original there is a fork by Bazzinotti, but I'm not even sure it can be built for Windows. Thanks in advance.

Re: For an experiment I want to try, what Android device do you use

In the case of the creator of this thread, you are right, but as said above, it depends on the user. There are Samsung users for example which primarily use Samsung's apps and actually consider Google's apps to be the bloatware.

Re: For an experiment I want to try, what Android device do you use

I agree with people saying Pixel 3A. I mean, especially if you want to experiment and are not sure you will stay on Android, perhaps considering a midrange phone instead of a flagship would be a better choice. If you want one nonetheless, the most affordable and closer to stock Android you can get are the OnePlus 7 and Asus Zenfone 6, or probably a Pixel 2 XL which is from 2017 but will still get Android 10 and 11.

Re: For the Android users: opinions wanted

@BlindNinja: You mentionned the lower price and smaller size of the Pixel 3A. Perhaps you may consider the S10E since it is smaler and cheaper than the regular S10 but still have many common points with it. At least it does sound like a good compromise to me. Unless the promo you are talking about makes the S10 cheaper than the S10E.

Re: Help choosing my first android phone

The problem is, I am not sure switching phone would resolve your main problems of reading documents and pausing media, but if you want to try something else nonetheless, perhaps go for a Pixel 3A.As for Android One, it is essentially a set of rules by Google that manufacturer can choose to follow or not when they release a smartphone. When they do, they are engaged to deliver major system updates for two years and security updates for three years. They cannot modify the system as they please and are also limited in the amount of apps they can preinstall so, besides the standard Google apps, they install their own camera app, sometimes a feedback app, and rarely more. The Pixel 3A is not an Android One device, but being from Google itself, the experience is very close, closer than most Xiaomi devices except for Mi A1 and Mi A2 that use Android One. It is a bit better though, In theory you should even get major updates before Android One devices, get three of them instead of two, as well as a few more features like "now listening", which can tell which piece of music is playing in the background, "active edge" which allows to squeeze the phone to summon Google's assistant, and more.As for apps, I have had no problem with Youtube and Dropbox, and there are several apps that can scan text such as Speak! or Google Lens. Not too sure for the rest.Edit: post #2 was faster than me and explained things pretty well. Stock Android is often prefered as it is indeed quite accessible and you know more about what to expect. As for the size of the phone I am not sure, I don't know if even the standard 3A is small enough.

Re: Switching from IOS to android, any tips?

I have no doubt old devices run perfectly well on newer versions of Android via Custom Rom. And I tend to forget a bit too easily that running IOS 9 on an IPhone 4S back then wasn't a good idea. I don't know if IOS 12 does run smoothly on a 5S. If yes, that's cool, yet we don't know about the future. And it doesn't erase the fact that IOS 11 wasn't nearly as smooth on the same device, again provided it was true, because I don't have that device. As for OCR,, I guess if you are using the same software from one phone to another and your camera is good on a hardware standpoint, you should probably be fine. Just like a Google Camera port may help some phones perform better in that regard, though, of course, I wish I had the eyes to compare for myself. @24: I am not too sure what to think about HMD, I have read several reviews saying the Nokia 7.1 performs strangely low compared to what it's hardware and software would suggest, even when compared with less powerful Android One phones such as the Moto One. I found this article:https://medium.com/@roundedeverett/who- … 24ecbc52a9Everyone's free to think what he/she wants about it, and search further, as the problem has been discussed in several places. In short, with Nokia devices, you may have what Android One stands for, but only on the surface.

Re: Switching from IOS to android, any tips?

I would admit that is the cool thing about IPhones, you can stick to them for a while. On Android you would have to install a custom rom to stay up to date for the same amount of time as with an IPhone. It is yet again something Huawei no longer allows, and one of my main griefs against them. Not that I have done it myself, I was never too sure about how much it was doable without sighted help, and would rather wait for the end of official support for my device to do that. One thing is sure though, even if I never end up doing it, I will systematically prefer devices and brands that allow it as long as they exist. Also, @Brad: Don't worry, the current Nokia devices have the sounds you want, only rearranged in a less complex way than in the symbian era.

Re: Did things change when it comes to tuning musical instrument?

@2: The Avalette city theme is in a major key, closer to G than F-Sharp I would say, but still a bit below. It seems today, when one uses western style as a standard he is more likely to tune conventionally, but there are well known song from decades a go that don't do so. Think "Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones, "Still Loving You" by Scorpions, "For Whom The Bell Tolls by Metallica", and probably others that aren't necessary rock and heavy metal, even though it seems these styles were the most likely candidates for unconventional tuning. Today you would be impressed to find something like it even in these styles. Apparently there was that space limitation on vinyl I talked about earlier, but then why weren't song at normal speed when CD releases came out? Probably to keep songs as people are used to hear them, however, imperfect reading speed is something that I am pretty sure I experienced on vinyl and not on CD, and I am not talking about putting a 45 RPM at 33.

I would say Yamaha YM-2608, I love the duo between FM voices and the square waves played with what is essentially an integrated YM2149. Then I would say HuC6280 from the PC-Engine and also the soundchip from the Wonderswan, though it seems we don't know much about it, it probably also uses WaveTable synthesis

The Pixel seems to be the best choice, and indeed if you are into flashing custom roms it's even better. You would likely not even have that possibility with a nokia.

I can't think about a phone with USB C at $200. Perhaps one can find the Nokia 6.1 at that price but I'm not even sure, so if you can get the original Pixel it's a good idea, I believe Android Pie is it's last official update but it still gets two years of security updates.

I agree with what was said, Apple devices are updated for quite some time and as long as you don't experience slowdowns and are satisfied with the battery life, changing is not worth it.

@24: I can only agree with you. Look at Sony for example, if it wasn't for all the pre-loaded apps I would have been interested by the brand, but as it stands now it's a no-go. Plus I don't really like how they scrapped features from Android Pie, but that's another story entirely. The PlayStore not being usable is strange to say the least, I'd be actually surprised if most blind S9 users had the same problem, and the fact there are different versions of the phone depending on carrier and region could make the problem quite hard to identify.

Re: Question For Android Users

@20: Well, maybe touch latency is what I'm experiencing, though on the 5T it is supposed to be 87 ms I believe. While it's not the best, I wouldn't expect it to be really noticible. I believed the latency was due to Talkback scanning the gesture you are doing for a brief period of time, for example when you swipe to a direction, you may be simply swiping or starting an angular gesture and that would explain the brief latency, but well, maybe the 5T doesn't have that good of a touch screen. At least it is not bad to the point that the double tap works like once out of ten, something I have none with an old device and was quite surprised about.I'm still perplexed though, OnePlus devices are often considered among the smoothest with Google Pixel phones, so if touch latency was that bad I guess it would be quite different.

Re: Question For Android Users

@Austingrace: Since you were asking about OnePlus, my OnePlus 5T is a fairly good phone, which was a bit frustrating when I got it first because of many unlabeled buttons and Talkback 6 wasn't deployed yet on Android Nougat, but I learned to deal with it and things have goten better since I got it.The one thing that didn't evolve in a good way with Oreo is that the OnePlus dialpad became really hard to use with Talkback, and it is still the case today. So you may likely want to replace the dialler if you get a OnePlus, and the cammera app if you intend on using it.Otherwise the phone goes smoothly as you would expect, though I feel Talkback may lack a bit in smoothness  by itself compared to VoiceOver, but that's probably due to the way it handles inputs. Nothing too annoying though, but you will feel it if you come from an IPhone.I can't talk much about the 6T and it's under-screen fingerprint reader, but I have read some reviews saying it quickly becomes easy to find even with closed eyes.

Re: Thinking on switching from iOS to android

I wish I knew more about that, I'm quite satisfied of my phone as it is so I didn't really customize much of it. Though i have to admit I like the openness of the system, as even the apps that define the basic functions of a phone can be replaced. I had a problem with the OnePlus dialler with Talkback as I wouldn't be able to compose a number after the Oreo update, but I simply downloaded a modded version of the Google Dialler and I was good to go. So I guess if you are into finding the launcher and suit of apps for each functionality that best suit your needs it's quite awesome, and there are probably things I don't know yet about Android's customization. The reason why I left IOs in the first place is because I was willing to know what happened on the other side, and because I felt Apple's pricing policy was getting too much out of control. I wanted a modern phone but couldn't easily justify spending the money required for an IPhone X or even an IPhone 8 compared to what they brought to the table, especially considering I could get a OnePlus 5T for half the price of an IPhone X. Now that one phone isn't perfect and support for updates (especially security updates) could be much better, but it's still fairly good.In fact, in 2018 Android seems more attractive than ever, you can find pretty cheap devices that should perform pretty well for most usages. That include Android One devices like Motorola Moto X4 and the upcomming Nokia 6 2018 and 7 Plus, with pretty solid update support. And then there's Project Treble that's supposed to help bring major updates to devices earlier, but it's efficiency remains yet to be seen. I even find the Samsung Galaxy S9 line to be quite attractive because it doesn't present too much compromises for a 2018 flagship, whereas I wasn't even close to being a big Samsung fan, except maybe for the accessibility enhancements.

Another interesting device in terms of getting the most for your money is the Honor View 10, but I have never tested it. It runs on the last version of Emotion UI (Huawei's Android skin), and I don't know if it has accessibility problems or not. Plus you may have to import it depending on where you live.I have a OnePlus 5T and it's pretty good, but support from onePlus isn't exactly the best in terms of security updates, mine is still running on the December patch. Though to be fair I don't know about Honor's update policy eather. If you can wait and afford it, maybe wait for the S9. What makes it so exciting in my point of view is that it's a modern flagship but without the typical annoying compromises you would find elseware, as it has both a headphone jack and expendable memory via micro SD, and it has stereo speakers this time. Definitely my second favourite release of 2018, only behind the Honor View 10, the third being the upcoming Nokia 7 plus. Also like others said, the Pixel and Moto phones are good.

Indeed, I'm not sure suspending Talkback is even possible in Oreo. Sure, disabling/enabling it becomes somewhat easier, but I don't know why they scrapped the suspend shortcut, provided it's absolutely not there anymore.

@74: Thanks for the info. I guess thats yet another thing I would have to report to OnePlus. Oxygen OS is a pretty cool Android rom (at least I think so), problem is you can really tell it wasn't developed with accessibiliity in mind, though it's definitely usable. Still I shall ask if they can do something about it.Also, an assistive tech trainer asked me about using the accessibility shortcut on her phone, and while we were at it we checked Talkback settings and the rotor, which is probably called the selector, didn't appear. She had the last Talkback version but her Huawei P10 Lite is still running on Android 7.1 Nougât. So, not only does the selector require a fingerprint sensor, it may only be available on Oreo.@72: I never had a Samsung but despite all the features they brought in terms of accessibility, I don't really consider getting one, for the same reasons you mentionned.

Re: android or Iphone?

I'm OK with how Android's accessibility is for now, but I think both Voice Assistant and VoiceOver allow you to perform some actions more fluidly than Talkback. I like what Talkback brought recently, but things such as shaking the phone for the "say all" command and using a dedicated menu to read all from a certain part of the screen really isn't the best in my opinion.Just to say how desperate they are about not using multitouch  gesture, they recently included something like the rotor in VoiceOver, but if you don't have a fingerprint sensor you can't use it. Thankfully these sensors are more and more common...Also, I don't know if someone reported it on Eyes-Free as of yet, but no matter which Talkback gesture is set to simulate the Home button it doesn't work. That might have to do with my device but I don't know. I'll have to report that myself eventually.

Thankfully these sensors are more and more common...

Re: If there would be a way for getting your sight back, would you do it?

I think I got quite lucky on that, the instructors I have known in France weren't as pushy as that. Sure they sometimes got surprised like hell if I didn't do something a certain way, but they didn't go as far as saying "you should stop doing that completely". In fact, if I got to show them how I proceeded they would sometimes be interested changing how they teach stuff, though not surprisingly this was much more often the case with technology compared to any other domain. The pushiest thing I had to deal with is that I was forced to use a braille note-taker when I was in a school for the blind. This wouldn't have been that bad except the way that thing handled input made so that typing fast wasn't exactly a good option, and sometimes you would have some completely ununderstandable text in some places. And then of course teachers didn't understand why I made so much typing mistakes. Because, you know, in that domain there's apparently no way the machine could be at fault, blla-bla-bla. Whereas in other domains like videogames, if someone hears a scratchy voice clip on the Sega Genesis, people will always blame the hardware. Not sure it's a fair comparison, especially as there are so many games with scratchy voices on Genesis, and because some of you may have had different experiences with all of that, but you get the idea.

Even though I'm at the point where I'm OK dealing with it, I think seeing blindness as minor is indeed exagerated. Also, about accessibility of cars, I remember Citroên released a few cars that had Windows CE and that you could command part of it vocally. Not sure you could tell to start the engine for example, but I found it pretty impressive at the time.

Re: If there would be a way for getting your sight back, would you do it?

Well, since some people mention driving here and there, I have to admit it was a big deal for me for quite a long time. I have to say, since my father's job is about reparing cars, since he did collect several old cars from the 30s or 50s, and as such I was so keen on the subject one way or another, the fact I wouldn't be able to drive a car was definitely hard to deal with.I remember, I used to consider an engine's noise as mainly 2 tones, the engine's buzzing and the explosions it generates. By analysing the pitch difference between the two, I would be able to say how many cylinders there were. At that time my father didn't tell me that much about how a car works, and still I figured out that kind of detail eventually. But now, as we sometimes do very long trips, I always think it is a good thing I'm not the driver, as I clearly don't imagine being able to concentrate for so long.

I wouldn't say I'm not interested at all in getting sight back, for I'm interested on how it would change my perception of the world and the way I do certain things, but I have to agree with posts such as 60 and 61. Then again I have been blind almost since birth, so of course depending on when you lost your sight your perceptions of what you can or can't do can differ widely. But I'm at the point where I can live like the next guy. Well, technically, I'm still working on it in some aspects, but I'm at a point where I'm fairly confident it will happen.

He could use an app called Audex, which was concieved to replace Talkback's sounds. It is considered as an accessibility service, just like Talkback. One simply has to disable the Talkback sounds and turn on Audex. It is possible to create and share your own sound schemes, but I can't find much things in that regard, except the one based on Samsung's Voice Assistant found on the Eyes-Free group. At least there are 4 pre-installed schemes by defaut. Also, unless your friend's Talkback version is stuck below 5.2 for some reason, I'm not sure the default Audex schemes would really answer his problem, but you never know.

Actually, I have a question about Audex. In fact I can't enable it. When I try to on my OnePlus 5T, it says that the authorisation demand is masked by an application and that it is impossible to enable Audex from settings. Sorry for the rough translation, as my phone runs in French. Is there something I should check before trying to enable it?

Re: Strange NVDA Crash

Hello everyone,For some reasons, my NVDA crashes at random and I have to restart it. What is strange is that it may have to do with the installation of the japanese keyboard. I remember I installed it to play Brave Of Cloudia, and I'm pretty sure that's when the problem started. The thing is I don't even use the japanese keyboard that often, so I wonder why it could be so. Well, even when I use it, my NVDA doesn't seem more unstable than how it is otherwise. The crashes aren't too frustrating as they don't happen too often, but they are still quite frequent nonetheless. So, does anyone have any idea why it happens? Thanks in advance.

Questions regarding Talkback and Google dictation

Hello everyone,As you may know, I decided to switch from my old IPhone 4S to a OnePlus 5T.However, I'm facing several problems, though for one I'm doubtful about it being an actual problem.First, I can't figure out how to use Google dictation when using any virtual keyboard. I tried both G-Board and Swiftkey, but in both cases I can't figure out where the dictation buton actually is. I read that in Swiftkey it was supposed to be near the space bar, like on an IPhone, but I can't find it anywhere. Is there a reason for it to not show up?My second question is about Talkback. It seems the latest release I can get from the Play Store is 5.2.1. As I read on Inclusive Android that 6.1 was in Beta, I wonder if that situation is normal. Unless there was no Talkback 6.0 or Talkback 6.x is only available on Android Oreo, I don't know why I would have to stick with 5.2.1. The two possibilities I mentionned don't seem logical to me, but if one of them appears to be true, please let me know.Best regards,Pulseman

Re: Thinking on switching from iOS to android

I had the occasion to train a bit with a Galaxy J3, and what definitely impressed me is how permissive Talkback's angular gesture actually is. I could literally swipe up, keep my finger where it is for a quarter or even half a second, then swipe right, and the local context menu would still open. Talkback's sound feedback indeed indicates you do two separate swipes but the command remains valid, provided you don't lift your finger at all. I guess it's a good way to start for one who doesn't manage to do it fast, as I admit doing it fast seems quite difficult.

Yep, I think it would have been a no-brainer for me if it was officially available in France, but well, that's how it is. Plus the onePlus 5T has a headphone jack without extra adaptor needed and I still think it's awesome in it's own right. I should receive it soon, hopefully it's not gonna go the same root as the 3 and 3T which only had one year of update...
