Writing this in the reply box, so could have errors.new var xp_to_level = 500new var func = 0 // I'd use this to call var events like functions.// Make kill events for every type of zombie. Ex:+-1+block kill event=normaladd player xp by 5set var func=1end event±-1+block var event func=1// check the last weapon fired, if you want to give certain weapons an xp boost, like online does.if [player.xp]>=xp_to_level then set var func=2end event±-1+block var event func=2level upadd xp_to_level by xp_to_levelset var func=0end eventI forgot to put the line in the kill event to add reputation. But hopefully this gets the idea across?

Re: Best offline audio FPS to play?

Well a battle royale type game does need some consideration with a low population. Standard mode is 100 people. However, we won't be getting 100 people every match. Not even 50, maybe 30.  therefore, a bit of an adjustment has to be made with a mode like that. It might have to be semi-death match by maybe giving each player 3-4 lives, having a second chance to try to re-establish themselves. probably good if killed early to not have the population dip to mindless body hunts.   That, or we need a much smaller map to work with, that might have people get some equipment on spawn quickly, but also make encounters faster. Have the building focuse don multiple map types of smaller scale. Still prefer the first option though. Not sure what tradeoff is needed to not just have someone spawn naked with a melee weapon.

@SirpdexWhat you want for that is Rode to Rage.  Grab some good maps, start a server or have someone else do it, and invite some cool people on a weekend, it's not perfect but it's pretty great arena style combat!Audio Quake is also another option, but it's got no one on there, it's kinda clunky, and starting your own server isn't really an option unless you have allot of knowledge about late 90s tech and internet.  It's a perfect example of arena combat though...

Re: Best offline audio FPS to play?

At Post 16:  The one major problem I have with your comparison of Red Spot and Arc survival is that one generally has a really large population of players to ruin progress of other large groups. Redspot did not. It was way harder to dominate, and a lot less insane to actually build up bases when your tribe tended to have people of all time zones attacking and defending at all times of the day. People on red Spot did not always get enough people to have someone on all the time to defend  as at most, 20-30 people on, rather than the thousands of players and multiple servers of Arc Survival. We cannot do a realm time survival game like this without a much larger population to balance out power imbalances. Point 2: Since audiogames has a much smaller population, niche game types like survival/domination will do even more poorly than in the mainstream market. Notice how fast the population and interest in Red Spot dropped hard once the base building stuff and hoarding aspect kicked in, and people started taking a game too seriously, making it less fun for other people. People just left. Groups had entire sections of the game locked off with traps everywhere that made it hard for other groups to have any fun. Games tend to balance this out by having a larger population, so that one small group of 6-10 people can't dominate everything and have to contend with multiple equally as armed and resourceful players to constantly undo everything. Even at Red Spots hayday, it did not have the population to support what it wanted to do without hard caps on everything, which Samtuppy did not put in.  Now consider what "actually" is the most popular shooter types in the mainstream market today. It's team based shooters in match formats, or battle royales. Both game modes that put people on a equal starting playing field at the beginning of the match, and letting skill determine who would win encounters. None of this grind for 3 weeks to have hundreds of thousands of hp and shields bullshit, stuff like Fort Night puts "hard caps" on such stats and even inventory slots. These are the types of games that draw millions of players in the mainstream market, and would fortunately draw a large group of audiogame players wanting the mainstream experience in things.   Also Red Spot was a poor man's arc survival or Day Z anyway. Red Spot made it too easy to amass a crapton of items and funds to build up a base. In most of those games listed, your character starts and remains a fragile human that can die in a few hits if it wasn't for armor modifiers (not so much boosted hp). Hell, Day Z didn't even have a full fledge base system, you just declared some far off house or camp of tents as your storage and base. Something that any other players could stumble into and steal.  also pretty sure Arc Survival had servers for PVp and PVE. If you're going to go on the PVP trail there, everyone you'd be encountering already has a gigantic settlement or something to try to fend against. Note the population theme going in with these examples?  Hopefully the person making bloodbath doesn't try to do the same mistakes as the other games, and makes a game that it is not. The audiogame landscape is not ready for niche item hoarding bullshit without branching out to the mainstream realm and assuring a massive population for balancing purposes. We already had many collectathons come and fail due to how unfun people eventually found the format. Actually establish match formats in a competitive playingfield, and regulate a waiting lobby for people to collect items and screw around. If you want to make a base building mode, make it a defend the castle-type affair with a large field to collect items and try to burn down the other base as the victory condition. Don't make a game that's destined to fail at this time. TL-Dr: We lost so many FPS' because they tried to become something niche in an already limited population, and had poor implementations. Stop making niche stuff that only 10 people will play once everyone is ran off.

I've beaten Shades of Doom on the highest difficulty. The trick is not to park and spray (i.e., don't hide someplace and shoot till your fingers fall off). If you waste a ton of bullets, you're screwed. The hardest part of the game, for me at least, was actually a bit in area 2 where you've got two mutant humans in the corners of a rectangular room, basically shooting you diagonally and bisecting. Usually had to resort to grenades and luck there.

Re: Best offline audio FPS to play?

I recently started playing SOD again, even though I've played it over the past 8-9 years or so. And on the highest difficulty it was pretty damn challenging indeed - you may wish to consider that. For example, on one save I got onto level 4 and could not continue; I only had 5 med kits and was pretty much out of ammo except the chainsaw ammo, and on that level there are monsters that shoot at you, so that was pretty much impossible for me to continue on with. I even managed to get passed the first room and get to the gong, but even with two loads of projectile ammunition my guns were pretty much empty by the time I had slaughtered all the dogs there, and there was still a turret to deal with.

Re: Best offline audio FPS to play?

@post 9... I get what you mean, however what I'm trying to say as well is that we haven't got any detailed 3D FPS's like RS.Sure having only AI to play with is nothing like online teams, however it would be good to have a game like that offline, especially the amounts of ways you could kill enemies, as well as spending BTC on base upgrades etc whilst trying to defend it.

Re: Best offline audio FPS to play?

@Post 1.The thing with games like redspot is they are all basically community drivven. Sure someone could make a game with all the advanced features of redspot like inventory, items, bases, weapons etc, but there's only so much pleasure one can get out of killing AI players. Not to mention the teaming aspect of redspot.

Re: Best offline audio FPS to play?

Yeah but allot of the monster encounters are pretty random even if the maps, some encounters, and the item locations aren't.  Plus you can always play on higher difficulties. But no, it's not super different each time.

Re: Best offline audio FPS to play?

I would suggest either shades of doom, which is still really good to be honest especially with Loqudus's mod and on higher difficulty levels, and technoshock again with the loqudus mod from the audio games archive.GMA tank commander isn't your typical FPS sinc well, there is no person it's a tank, but in the end the concepts are similar.  You can have allot of fun on some of those maps even if the game is a bit buggy at times.
