Re: Kenshira Plays: Audio playthroughs and demos of mainstream games

Hi, everyone! It's a new week, which means that it's time for a new game! Today, season 1 of Kenshira plays comes to a climactic conclusion as I battle it out in Pokemon Stadium 2 for the Nintendo 64!I think it's a given now to the audience that there are a ton of games both mainstream and not which I hold dear. Chief among them for the longest time has been of the Pokemon series, so I chose to relive my memories of this excellent game, especially now that a lot of people are revisiting gen 2 thanks to the accessibility scripts. Already I have recounted in a previous episode of Kenshira Plays the story of how I almost missed out on something wonderful due to pier pressure, and today, the story of my love for Pokemon continues as I recount how I got exposed to the game that rocked my world, yet again! One of my buddies had played pokemon stadium before, and he was absolutely digging it which really made me want to play, so during one new years eave some time in the early 2000s, while I was visitting my cousins out of town, I was absolutely thrilled to find out that they had a copy of Pokemon Stadium 2. By that time, I was already making my way through silver, and so I was pretty familiar with Pokemon in general. This made it the perfect time for me to try out the game, which I did for hours while just about everyone headed off to the fair grounds to selebrate the new year. I had one of my cousins help me assemble a team, then sat down in front of the telli for hours trying to compete in the various cups. They eventually let me borrow the game for a while, so I took it home and proceeded to work my way through the gym leader sky castle. I made it all the way to the very last battle in spite of the odds stacked against me. You see, you have nearly all of the roster of gen 2 pokemon at your disposal, but they all don't have the best move set available to them, so to ensure your victory, it is sbest that you import your own pokemon from within gold and silver, which I didn't have the tools to do at the time, which makes it nearly impossible to beat the game. Thus, to this day, I have yet to finish the very last battle against silver. However, Pokemon Stadium does include different cups with different rules to participate in, with 4 ranks for each cup, so when I couldn't beat Silver, I went off and tackled one of those other challenges. I did return the game to my cousins when I visitted them a few months later, and it would not be until a few years into my college years that I would be able to snag my own copy.Pokemon Stadium 2 includes a pokemon academy, complete with lectures, mock battles and quizzes to help you hone your knowledge about pokemon. In addition, it also has minigames that you can play either alone or with up to 4 players, which my brothers and sisters were totally into. Therefore, even if you did not have the transfer pack, there is still a ton to do in the game. Save for the majority of the minigames, the game is very accessible, having few menus that wrap. It helps that the Pokemon Stadium series in general  has an announcer that seems to really love his job! he generally does a good job at describing everything that happens, as well as the information on each pokemon when it is critical. He calls out the pokemon that are summoned if they are not the very first two, but even without it, each pokemon still retains their own cries, just as each move has their own sounds. There are a couple ways to sort out the huge roster of pokemon, either as they are listed in gen 2, or internationally, or alphabetical order. All of this comes together to make a game that is still quite playable to this day. Undoubtedly, technology has advanced far enough to make it even more playable to those without vission than it has ever been before. I do highly recommend this game to anyone who is even remotely interested in the turn-by-turn strategic combat of the Pokemon stadium series, and you won't have to ever worry about getting,  lost on an overworld or in a  dungeon. I have a strong preference for the first two games mentioned here, over that of Pokemon Battle revolution which was released for the Wii years later. The stadium series just has more pokemon to choose from by default, and more to do in general. In the demo below, I'll be fighting my way through the first couple gyms in the gym leader sky  castle.pokwmon stadium 2 audio demoThat takes us to the end of Kebshira Plays season 1. I have to say that recording these and replaying these games was a ton of fun. My favorite part has to be me trying to make it through the third area of dungeon punks without dying, because I had always died prior to the recording, and things got so chaotic during that I fully expected to die again. My second favorite memory from this was clearing under night with just 1 credit. Didn't expect that to happen either. Besides that, it was generally a fun

In retrospect, I definitely got the better deal on the trade, but back then, each of those handheld were like 10 to 20 bucks and not too far beneath the best portable gaming experience. Wouldnt be able to stand it now though.I think umk3 is my fav classic erra mortal kombat. Trilogy is just a little too wild for me, but its still good.

Re: Kenshira Plays: Audio playthroughs and demos of mainstream games

Hi, everyone! It's a new week, which means that it's time for a new game! Today, it's kombat time, as I kill my way through Ultimate Mortal Kombat on the Nintendo DS!Ever since the first time my cousin brought his Super Nintendo and Mortal Kombat 3 to my house back in 96, I had always fantasized about how cool it would be to have it to play anywhere I wanted on a portable Super Nintendo. I often remember discussing such a possibility with one of my best friends on the buss ride home, and we both agreed, it would've been quite nice indeed. Eventually, we did end up getting our own Super Nintendo for the family, and not long after that, I traded my collection of 7 tiger electronics games to another friend of mine for a brand spankin new copy of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 for the snes, complete with box and manual. I played that game religiously, and started learning as much as I could about its characters and their moves, then began teaching what I knew to one of my cousins, who's family had moved in with us for a while so that we could compete against each other. Sadly, the game got either stolen or misplaced, and it would be another couple years before I would be able to buy us another copy from Game Stop. If someone had told me way back then that it would be another 10 years before my dreams of playing a home console quality game like Mortal Kombat 3 on the go would be realized, my mind would have been absolutely blown, yet that's exactly what happened, and it turned out to be even better than I could have imagined!  In 2007, Midway published Ultimate Mortal Kombat for the Nintendo DS, a collection that contained the arcade version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, the Puzzle Kombat mode from Mortal Kombat Deception, and threw in over 100 unlockables to round out the package. Gaming publications such as  gamespot and IGN gave UMK a 7/10, knocking it hard for the cheap in-put reading AI, but saying that it was an excellent game to play competitively against friends and online. They honestly weren't wrong, but I didn't mind fighting against the AI so much. Part of the fun, at least for me, is learning how to exploit the AI with different characters, getting them to do what I wanted, then taking advantage of their disposition to pull off a victory. If you approach the game that way and find enjoyment from it, there is quite a lot to unlock, which gives this game a high amount of replay value. After beating the game, you can choose from a number of treasures that contain either character endings, fatality demonstrations, or fights against secret characters. the number of treasures to choose from is dependant on what tower you choose to tackle after picking your character, with the hardest containing the most treasures. All of the treasures that you discover remain available permanently in the extras found within options for you to revisit later on, alongside character bios. There are even character to unlock in both UMK3 and Puzzle Kombat, as well as an endings section for each of the characters you can play as in UMK 3.The game takes advantage of both top and bottom displays, using one to show moves and finishers, and the other to display the action in UMK3, while it uses one to display the puzzle activity, and the other to show the kombatants in action in Puzzle Kombat. Puzzle Kombat is the least playable part of this package for us, but you can probably get lucky and unlock a character or two for the mode by messing around in it. UMK3 is where the heart of the gameplay lies. You might need help setting up your profile, getting the game online, an using the touch screen at the game-over section to enter in the numbers necessary for the 3 secret characters, but afterwards, you're set. When I found out that this game was coming to DS, I jumped on it right away. This was released some time during my college days, and I brought my DS with me everywhere at that time. You could often see me hanging out on a bench somewhere playing,  if I didn't have any studying to tend to. One of the games I would be frequently playing was UMK on the DS. My school had a couple pay phones scattered around, and there was one not far from where I normally sat. It was just inside of the building near that bench, and twice a week I would pop in a couple quarters to call up my buddy from across the country and see if he was up for a fight. It was the same buddy I used to talk about the game with years ago, and we would have at it for at least an hour twice a week before it was time for me to prepare for class. I also played this competetively online with strangers if he wasn't available, or against one of my other sighted friends who also had the game, and put in hours and hours to unlock everything I could. In the end, I got all of the characters in UMK3, all of their endings, all of the secret fights, all of the fatality demos, and about half of the unlockable

It was a little lighter on modes, but still had a lot to unlock. I spent loads of time with that one too, and agreed, the rival thing was cool. Never seen anything like that before then.Quick psa to let you guys know that I updated the vita article and added some useful links, including a link to the old web store where you can still buy and download ps3, psp and vita games remotely. Re: Kenshira Plays: Audio playthroughs and demos of mainstream games

Hi, everyone! It's a new week, which means that its time for a new game! Today, I party like its 1999 all over again as I play through snk vs capcom, match of the millennium for the neo geo pocket color!Well, seems like I was a year late in my estimation of the time that this game came along and rocked my world. It was the fall of 2000 when someone sold me a neo geo pocket color and 2 games for just 40 bucks. The games in question were metal slug, and snk cs capcom, and both of them kept me and those around me entertained for hours and hours. My junior year in high school was just beginning, and I distinctly remember playing this on bus trips to and from school for months and months, undoubtedly drawing stares and comments from fellow passengers. Before, after,, and even during school if I wasn't busy, you could be certain I had my neo geo pocket color out and cranked as I fought to unlock all that this game had to offer, and boy o boy was it loaded!Snk vs capcom was published by snk and released in 1999 for their very own portable console. The console had a very memorable clicky stick which made it perfect for this and other fighters released for it during its short lifespan. In terms of gameplay, this is a single/team based 2d fighter similar to what we were getting on home consoles at the time. The game was quite flexible in how it allowed you to progress through the tournament, be it alone in 2 round matches, or as a tag team of 2, or a team of 3. There are 18 default characters, with an additional 8 that you unlock simply by beating the game over and over again. In addition, the game has an Olympic mode, where you can compete in survival and time attack modes, as well as various mini games specific to the two companies. You can use the points you earn through gameplay to unlock new moves for each character from within this mode. I am not kidding when i say that this has a ton of lasting value, especially for a portable fighter released in 1999 on an obscure console. Snk vs capcom, match of the millennium is arguably the best pocket fighter of that deckade. This is a good opportunity for me to inform you all that snk has recently begun to rerelease other fighters for the neo geo pocket on the Nintendo switch e-shop for about 7 bucks a piece. There are 4 of them now I think, including samurai shodown 2, king of fighters r2, the last blade, and gal fight, so if you like what you hear in this demo, maybe give one of those a try, and perhapse ask them to rerelease this one also. They are listening. In the demo below, I form a 3 man team with Akuma, Ryu, and Ken as I work my way through the tournament. It does actually have a story that is conveyed through text that does not auto scroll, so you can ocr to your hearts content. Although the ngpc is a 16-bit console, its sound engine is mostly chip tune, and this game is no exception. Still, hits sound like hits, as do blocks, jumps, and the swish of punches, kicks and bodies as they fly through the air or get tossed about. Youll hear plenty of familiar music if you are at all familiar with either capcom or snk games. Speaking of which, when played on official hardware, the music is in stereo when heard through headphones. For this demo, I'm using my psp, and with exception to the mono sound, is very accurate to the real thing. Find the playthrough below.snk bs capcom ngpc audio demoI hope you guys enjoyed this week's game. It was a fantastic trip down memory lane for me. Next week, we will visit one of my dreams come true, right here in this thread. Tune in then to find out what it is. Until next time!

Thats it. Good luck. When you start the game, there are 3 options from top to bottom which are, start game, options, and credits. After you start game, everything will be presented in a left to right menu that doesn't wrap. If this is your first time playing, the first item will be tutorial. All of the new levels you unlock will be go the right of tutorial, which each new level appearing to the right of the one you complete. Once you start unlocking pieces for your drumb kit, the freestyle option will appear to the left of tutorial, and it will be the first menu item you are on when you start the game.

Re: Kenshira Plays: Audio playthroughs and demos of mainstream games

Hi, everyone! Its a new week, which means that its time for a new game! Today, I'll be hammering out a few sets in drums challenge.Drums challenge is a Simon says style rhythm game, where your objective is to replicate drum patterns to the beat of songs spanning several genres. It was released 9 years ago as of this writing, first for iOS, then as a mini for psp and ps3. The mini version is the one ill be playing. Throughout the course of gameplay, you will unlock pieces for your drum kit which is available in freestyle mode as you unlock and complete new songs. What makes this game more playable over other games of this type is that you can hear the wrong drum pieces you hit, so you can figure out what button does what and not make that mistake later. This is a real nice game that will last a out a couple hours as you try to perfect each of the tracks and fill out your drum kit.I discovered this one before I got into the rhythm heaven series. Drums challenge is nothing like that, in fact, it is a lot more focused on making music, so you won't get any cartoonie flourishes, just good ol honest music, not that there's anything wrong with either. I really love both this game and the rhythm series. Drums challenge has carried me through some long stretches of boredom. When I was over seas, I would boot up the game and fire up the freestyle mode so that I could drum along to whatever music we were listening to at the time, because I just couldn't stand sitting around and doing absolutely nothing. I also have a very vivid memory that happened not long after I bought the game and had cleared all but the final song. I remember gripping my psp tightly like a steering wheel with adrenaline pumping through my veins as I concentrated on tackling the last challenge. You won't hear me doing that in this demo, because, 1, its been a long time since so I'm a bit rusty, and 2, I don't want to embarrass myself more than I already have in the process of making this demo. Dont think I did too badly, though. You can judge for yourself by checking out the recording below.drums challenge audio demoOne of the things I always find cool is when developers find a way to use their games to turn the consoles into a musical instrument, such as how Wario ware twisted let you play the piano via the gyroscope and the A button, or how Wario ware touch let you play the harmonica via the ds microphone, arrows and face buttons, or how drums challenge turned your psp into a drum kit. These are the culmination of my 2 most favorite hobbies combined, where its not just about replicating music, but creating it as well. I do highly recommend trying out drums challenge, however you can. Its a great game, and I wish there were more Simon style games like this. That takes us to the end of today's episode, and I hope you found it enjoyable. Bext week, we'll visit one of the games that took up a good few months of my senior year in high school. Until next time!

Re: Kenshira Plays: Audio playthroughs and demos of mainstream games

Hi, everyone! Its a new day, which means that its time for a new game! Today, the hollow night becomes my battleground as I play through Under Night In-birth exe: late[st] for the ps vita, also available for ps3, ps4, switch, and pc.First, a bit of history. My brother and I got our first vita pretty close to launch, either around 2012/13, and we were both pretty excited to start collecting for it, which we did for a good couple years until my brother started working on our ps4 library, and I was distracted by several muds and a relationship to give the handheld much thought. I always felt like it was something special, though, so fast forward a couple more years to last year, and I finally have a vita of my own and a 64 gb memory card so I've got tons of digital storage and am ready to resume building up our library. Where my brother focused on the physical games, I put my primary focus on the digital ones. Among the many I snagged at the end of last year was Under Night In-birth Exe:Late[st]. Thats literally how the title is written, so I'll just refer to it as Under Night from here on.Although it came out years ago, i only discovered under night last year when I was hunting hard for games to play. For those unfamiliar with the game, it is a 2d anime-style 3 button fighter with a reasonably sized roster, extensive tutorial, tons of lore, lengthy visual novel-style story, and tons of modes to sink your teeth into. The game is fully voiced in japanese, and all of the main modes are spoken when you choose them. There is a lot of story crammed into the arcade mode for each character, and the chronicles mode sets the stage with how the world came to be as it was, and how each character came to be involved in the story. The game has the option to turn auto scrolling of dialog on and off so you have time to read with whatever means is at your disposal, but for the sake of this recording, I left it on so that I don't accidentally skip over dialog or pause too long between them. In the demo below, I give myself 1 credit to try to clear arcade on the standard difficulty. How far will I get? Listen to find out!under night audio demoAs stated earlier, you can still pick this up today on ps4, vita, switch, and pc. With exception to the vita version, the other 3 got an update this year that added a new character and made balance fixes to the fighting engine. The game has remained relatively underground since it came out almost 8 years ago, but has since gained a cult following, so maybe give this a try if you're looking for a cool new meaty fighter to sink your teeth into.I hope you guys enjoyed today's game. Next week, we'll dive into something less violent for the last time this year. Tune in then to know what it is. Until next time!

Re: Kenshira Plays: Audio playthroughs and demos of mainstream games

Hi, everyone! It's  new week, which means that its time for a new game! Today, I'm playing the psp mini Flying Hamster, also available on ps3, mobile and ps vita.Flying hamster is a horizontally scrolling shooter. As suchch, the screen will automatically scroll to the right, except during boss battles, and you can move around in all 2d directions. The story behind the game is that one day, a hamster and his other hamster friend are hanging out at the beach when she suddenly spots a jewel on the ground and picks it up. As she does so, a bird swoops in and snatches her away. Gathering a couple leaves and some pellets, our hero takes to the skies in an attempt to rescue his friend, and thats where we the player come in. During gameplay, we have a fire button and an auto fire button. The auto fire button will always shoot pellets at a fixed speed, even if we mash it rapidly, vut the fire button will shoot them out as fast as you can press it, with the ability to charge your shot by holding the button. During the course of gameplay, enemies and bosses will move in predictable patterns, and weapon powerups will spawn in fixed locations, so we, and even sighted players can memorize how a stage proceeds to clear it effectively. We get 3 lives, and a fixed number of continues to get through the game, with the possibility to earn more continues as we play. You lose a life on 1 hit, but you start right where you died, and same when you use a continue. When you're out of continues, you can start right back at your last checkpoint in free play, and each stage has 4 checkpoints. You'll hear me do just that a few times during the course of the demo. The final thing worth noting is that this game does actually have stereo sound, so you will probably hear me shooting around different areas of the playfield, though I have found that the ideal strategy is to hang around the left edge  of the screen and keep firing so you can hear things coming and can react appropriately to your situation. This was another game that I picked up around my time at pspminis.com. I bought it because I had read in a review that the game let you continue where you died, so I figured that, and this game being inspired by retro 8-bit scrolling shooters would make this playable, and I wasn't disappointed. I even forgot that it had stereo sound until I brought it over to the vita alongvwith the rest of my old library. Speakibg of the sound, its actually pretty good, and not at all 8-bit. The title music has some 8-bit guitar rifts, but none of that is 8-bit either, and that too is filled with catchy melodies. As for its releases, flying hamster came out on mobile, I think ios specifically, where it also uses a virtual controller layout. Afterwords, it was ported as a mini to the ps3 and psp, then later on got a graphical overhaul and trophy support for the vita in flying hamster HD edition. In the approximately 16 minute demo below, I'll work my way through to as far as I can get in the second area of the game.Flying hamster audio demoI hope you guys enjoy this week's game. Next week, we'll tackle something a little more modern, or at the very least, that you can get for modern consoles and pc. Tune in then to find out what it is. Until next time!

I used to be really good at this game. I got all the way up to tysen many times but never managed to beat him. I used to think it was impossible for a blind person to beat him until speed runners managed to beat him blindfolded. I've beaten super punch out many times. I love both games a lot!

Re: Kenshira Plays: Audio playthroughs and demos of mainstream games

Hi, everyone! Its a new week, which means that its time for a new gane! Today, I'm trying to work my way up the world video boxing league in punch-out for the nes!My earliest memories of this game was way back in 1991, when we first got our nes. At the time, my cousin who lived in the second story above us also had a nes, and this was one of the games he had. Because we lived in such close proximity, we would often pass our games back and forth for each other to borrow and try. Thats how I got an opportunity to really sit down with punch-out and slowly begin to learn to understand it.I recently heard it said that punch-out was a rhythm game disguised as a boxing game, and that statement is very true. You can't play it like any other fighting game, so button mashing isn't going to get you very far, and there are no combos or special moves to commit to memory. Instead, the game is centered around memorizing and reacting to attack patterns of the various opponents you face, and exploiting their openings. Its really satisfying to see your muscle memory improve as you try and try again until you finally succeed. Its been a while since I've played the game, so I literally had to retrain myself to get as far as I did in this demo. Here are a couple things worth noting if you've never played punch-out before. The game is played from a fixed perspective, meaning that neither you or your opponent will be moving around the ring. Instead, left and right are used to dodge, up plus either a or b is to jab, and down is to block. A or b by itself will perform a body blow, while the start button performs your power attack when you have a heart to spend. There are sound cues for just about everything, and you can use left and right interchangeably for dodging, plus the password system for saving yoir progress is easy to use, making this a very playable game without sight. This and its sequel are truly something special, and I still enjoy revisiting them all these years later. In the demo below, I try to make progress through the game as I climb up the ranks. The demo is about 18 minutes long. Punch-out audio demoThis game later on got a sequel in the form of super punchout for the snes, which kept the same gameplay but added new opponents and upped the action with additional tweaks to improve the experience. I will likely demo it in a future episode of Kenshira plays, but for now, I hope you enjoy today's game. We'll switch genres again next week, so tune in then to see what's new. Until nest time!

That sounds like something worth considering. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll mull it over and see if it can be done with the least amount of trouble. We are up to about 14 games now i think, so it will take some effort to update things, especially sincw im writing these all on mobile, but I don't see why it couldn't be done, so i will when I can. Thanks again for the great idea.

Re: Kenshira Plays: Audio playthroughs and demos of mainstream games

None of the heat the soul games are dubbed, but fate/unlimitted codes isn't either. They both suffer the same story telling problem. However, if you play the fate tiger colixeum games, the story doesn't feel as rushed and the characters have more screen time to interact with one another outside of fights.@102, I haven't played any of the others so not sure, but judging from what i've read, you should not need ocr if playing on real hardware.Woot we made it to over 100 posts! Thanks to everyone for chevking in as often as you do. If you missed it, this week's game is in post 85 of the previous pave.

Re: Kenshira Plays: Audio playthroughs and demos of mainstream games

One thing that bugged me about heat the soul 7 was that it rushed through the story from battle to battle via narrative perspective. I guess i would be ok with that if i was familiar with what the game was covering, which i wasn't. Thats what makes the blade of fate so easy to recommend, because it takes its time with the story, not to the extent that blazblue does, but long enough for you to understand the characters and their motivations.

I imagine using spirit cards in the heat of battle would be difficult when using emulation, since on official hardware you can just reach your fingwr over and tap it vs having to move the mousw curser over the card to click it.

Re: Kenshira Plays: Audio playthroughs and demos of mainstream games

Hi, everyone! Its a new week, which means that its time for a new game! Tiday, the soul society becomes my arena as I play through a couple modes in Vleach: the blade of fate for the Nintendo ds!Lately, I've just gotten through binge watching the show that this game is based on through netflix, which is what inspired me to cover it today.. This is one of my favorite Christmas presents that I got around 2007, and it did not just benefit me, because the game supported multi-player up to 4 people on a single cart, and it even had online play. For those who are not familiar with the series,  bleach is an anime avout a teen who can see spirits, and a series of unfortunate events leads to him becoming a badass sword wielding grim reaper type character, as his job as a soul reaper is to send souls of the departed to the other side, known as the soul society. The anime has spawned a number of games, and the first 2 bleach games were among the best fighters for the ds upon their release. Even if you aren't familiar with the anime, the mechanics of the games are very deep, allowing for high levels of competitive play, and their is tons of content to sink your teeth into, from its various modes, to its large cast of unlockable characters, lengthy story and sea of unlockable cards, gallery images, music and sounds. This game will absolutely keep you busy for a long time if you enjoy things of this nature, and there is a sequel with tons more content if you haven't had enough just yet.In terms of gameplay, this is a 2d 3 button fighter that allows up to 4 people to face off against each other. When you are fighting more than one person, the area can become crowded, so you can jump between the foreground and background at a cost of a third of your spirit meter. You can chain together combos, specials and supers, and even juggle your opponents as you work to max your gage, at which point, you can activate your ultimate technique known as ban kai if your character has one. Each fight takes just a single round regardless of how many people are duking it out, and everyone is fighting each other at the same time.During the course of gameplay, you collect spirit cards that you can add to a deck which is available for use via the touch screen during combat. These provide either buffs to you, or debilitating effects to your enemies. The game has tons of quotes from the show using the english cast of characters, and even all of the main menu modes are spoken outloud. The story itself is not voiced, but plays similarly to a visual novel where you press a button to advance the text. It covers the first 3 seasons of the anime, and even includes side stories for nearly all of the characters. My brother and I absolutely loved it at the time of release, because it had gone way past what had aired on cartoon network. Some characters will challenge you to defeat them in a specific way, and you will occasionally proceed down different paths depending on how you do. Suffice it to say that this game is completely playable, especially if you have a way to read the text.I mentioned earlier that this game got a sequel. That one is bleach: dark souls. It has a larger roster, makes balance tweaks to the existing fighting engine, and has an original story with events that did not happen in the show. It also expands a bit on the other modes. Over all, it doesn't try to fix what isn't broken, but improves things quite a bit. Both of these are still absolutely wonderful fighters to revisit today for its rich combat and lasting value, whether or not you are familiar with the anime, and I can easily recommend them both. Start with the first game if you're new to the series or just want to relive it and play through the side stories. The second story is its own thing and is a bit more linear,, but it still adds new elements not seen in the first. In the demo below,, I'll show off all the available modes and play through a couple of them. The demo is exactly 20 minutes long.Bleach 1 audio demoHope you guys enjoyed this week's game. Next week, we'll tackle something entirely different. Tune in then to see what it is. Until next time!

Sounds cool. It's sad it's not out for the Xbox One.

Re: Kenshira Plays: Audio playthroughs and demos of mainstream games

Hi, everyone! Its a new week, which means that its time for a new game! Today, I get surrounded by zombies in Twin blades!Today's game was a toss-up in regards to horror themed games, but in the end, I decided to stick to the general theme for this month, which appears to have been beat em ups and hack n slasher, which is what twin blades is, and the game is strictly 2d. Twin blades was released in several forms on ios, Xbox live, and later as a mini for the ps3, psp and vita. Thats the version I'll be playing. The game is  about a sythe wielding, gun toating warrior nun trying to survive in a zombie outbreak. Since the game is strictly 2d, zombies can only attack you from the front and back. You can cut them up with your sythe, or bit them long range with your gun. As you play through either the story or survival, you will be able to purchase upgrades for yourself, your melee attack and your gun, as well as additional guns. You have an ammo meter shared accross all your guns that can be replenished by killing zombies with your scythe. Sometimes zombies will drop healing potions, indicated by a sound like opening a soda when you pick it up, which is done by simply walking over it. During gameplay, there ar 3 time periods in a day, being morning, day and night, each with its own music. All of this adds up to make a very playavle game for us, even though it isn't an audio game. This was another of the titles I picked up during my days at pspminis.com. Admittedly it can get a bit repetitive, but fortunately, the game is very easy to pick up and play, and even automatically saves your progress in both the story and survival modes so you can resume later. This game has the distinction of being one of just a handful of m-rated minis on the psn. You are going to hear a lot of zombies shuffling around and roaring, so here is a warning for those with mental and emotional trauma, are bearing children, or are easily bothered by things like this to stay away from this recording. In the demo below, the nun Angelica administers holy justice as she tries to survive 31 days in survival mode. Upgrades can be purchased after each day in this mode. I suggest trying it in hard mode if you really want a challenge. I did that and got munched in less than 2 minutes, so for this demo, I'm just going to play it on normal. How many days will I last until the hoard becomes too great and I get chewed up? Find out below!twin blades survival demoThe main story mode is also playable, though the bosses may prove a slight challenge, but you just need to recognize patterns and use the right weapons at the right time. There are enough sounds for things, but no voice acting, though you can adjust the volume of sound and music. This is a fun little game if you want something quick to play with some substance.I hope you guys enjoy this week's game. Join me again next week as we shift genres and I tackle one of my favorites to play alone and with my brother and cousins. Meanwhile, I hope you all have a spooktacular week, and a happy Halloween. Stay safe, selebrate with care, and don't eat too much candy or your teeth will rot and fall out like those of a jack-o-lantern that got left in the sun for too many days. Until next time! Mua-ha-ha-ha-ha!

Re: Kenshira Plays: Audio playthroughs and demos of mainstream games

Hi, everyone! Its a new week, which means that its time for a new game! Today, I'm pummeling my way through baddies in Dungeon punks!Ok, so gonna be honest here. I usually have an idea on what I wanna cover next by the time I hit that submit button, but I just wasn't really sure last week, since I was juggling around possibilities and wanted to keep things varied accross genres and consoles, plus I wasn't as confident then as I am now about this game, but rest assured that I definitely know what I want to cover next week at the time of this writing. Thankfully, after having spent a decent amount of time with this game, I am ready to present it to you all, so let's get on with the show! This is a very recent purchase for me: think I picked it up the weekend before last, compelled by the eventual closure of the ps vita and ps3 store on web and mobile. Have to admit that I was hesitant, but after discovering it randomly while searching the mobile store for new games to buy, and finding all reviews pointing towards the game being playable, I'm glad I picked this up in the end.Dungeon punks is a 2.5d beat em up with rpg mechanics, similar in style to dragon's crown, where you take a team of heroes through various locations, beating up baddies, leveling, looting, and learning new abilities along the way. What sets this game apart is the ability to have 3 heroes on screen at a time,, and the eventual ability to freely tag out and switch heroes at any time as you recruit more characters. Although the game is sidescrolling, you can move along the y to a degree, and room exits can be on all 4 sides of the screen once all enemies are cleared. Sometimes, you will have to clear away obstructions to proceed  like you will hear me try to do at the start of the demo, but I really think this game is manageable with just a bit of patience. The game is available for the Xbox 1, ps4 and ps vita, with the last two being cross-buy.A couple things worth noting while playing: although it is not so in the vita version which i will be playing in this demo, the home versions do have stereo sound. You can also adjust the music and sound in the pause menu, as well as toggle other options like friendly fire and switch between d-pad and thumb stick for movement. I recommend having at least a bit of music if you're going to turn it down, because it often switches when you enter new areas, so its helpful for knowing where you are. All of the vertical menus do not wrap and neither does the stage select, which has the areas arranged in a row from left to right, and stage options for each area arranged vertically as you are on that menu. There is no voice acting, so ocr will go a long way here in imhancing your enjoyment of the game. Each character does have a shout when they are switched into combat or you take control of them, and their weapons do have their own impact sounds. You can pick up items with a press of the attack button while standing over the object. Finally, there is no jump button, so you dont have to worry about platforms and edges, but you can dash by double tapping left or right, as well as perform a dash attack. In between stages, you can walk around and talk to people on the ship. Don't worry about getting lost here as the area is rather small, and all the people seem to hang out around the top.In this demo, I will try to make it as far as I can without dying. Check out the demo for dungeon punks below.Dungeon punks audio demoThis game operates in such a way that you can only bring your loot and experience with you once a stage is cleared, or when you reach an escape location which allows you to return to your ship, and so the latter is where today's demo ends. Thats about all I have to say on the game for now. I've never seen this game discussed here before, so feel free to make a discussion topuc for it and ask questions avout it if you have any, or put em here and I will try to answer. Just bear in mind that I'm fairly new to this myself so definitely still have things to learn still. That does it for this week's episode of Kenshira plays. Tune in next week, when we'll be tackling something in the spirit of the season. Until next tine!

for what I can remember , stage 2 of metal slug x will give you a little bit of trouble since it has platforming, but the rest is just fine.

Still have not gotten to play guardian heroes yet, but from what I've read, I would probably love it, especially if its anything like this one.

Code of Princess was great.  At the time, someone told me it was similar to Guardian Heroes, and that was all I needed to hear.
