[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] 2 line Subtotal

2005-10-20 Thread James Flavell
Hi

I want to have a subtotal that has 2 lines when using the autogenerated
reports.

So I want something like

ItemQty
Amount
AAA 10
30

BBB 3
20

Total 13
50

Now I tried using the TOP property in the body and that works fine for the
body lines but the subtotal always comes out as one line (i.e. the 50
overwrites the 13 (see below)

ItemQty
Amount
AAA 10
30

BBB 3
20

Total 50

I understand I could change to generated design to control the subtotal but
I want to keep the nice subtotalling options the user can select in the
query when they run the report (from what I understand once I use generated
design this option of group totals and headings is gone)?

Any ideas how to do it?

Thanks
James

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Security rights not effective!

2005-10-20 Thread James Flavell
Hi everyone,

Okay Steve, yes basically items with no security right can be accessed by a
user that is not linked to ANY user group so I am not sure is it in the best
practices of Axapta that they say must set security right on any menu
item??? If it is not to those not sure whether to set I recommend you set
one for every menu item element you create this will be default mean the
element has to be set with permissions in at least one group in order to be
accessed.

I am not 100% sure about the next bit but would like to share to see if
anyone else can agree:

The problem I found was that I could set the USER GROUP 'main menu' point
(e.g. a form like sales order) to no acess BUT I COULD NOT SEE THE SUB
ELEMENTS OF THIS (I just assumed they were also no access). But when I
looked via the user's permission screen they have access to the element AND
I can see the sub elements!!! It seemed this was because inside the main
menu element there are sub elements (buttons etc) that were set with Full
control (even though I had set the parent element as no access!!!). So in
summary the problem: USER GROUP screen did not show or allow setting of sub
elements and also when setting the parent as no access this was not passed
down to the sub elements!

Anyway later in the day I tried some more testing and selected in the
permission the whole 'Main menu' list and pressed the 'Cascade'. Now after
this the sub elements could be seen and set (before this I didn't check
hence so cannot be 100% sure what I tried in the morning actually happened -
i.e. only have my memory from morning testing to rely on so only 95% sure).
So it seems to me the cascade 'reset' everything and with this the
subelements began to appear correctly in the USERGROUPS screen and so could
be set

Has anyone had similar experience?
Is it maybe because the VAR layer has been replaced several times?

Thanks
James

I cannot be 100% sure of this but I think we can all keep an eye out for
this possible sub element no access problem (maybe it is when new VAR/USR
layer is mixed I am not sure)

Dear James,

I have a same problem sometimes ago, and our solution
that time, we import security setting again and it
works.

Hi

No need of Production License, as far as i know, microsoft as already fixed this, so whithout the production license you can use the BOM journals,

Hi all;

We are planning to offer a license model to a customer.
the price is increase if we add Production I module therefore I am looking
some kinf of oppurtunities to solve customer's requirements.

The situation;

Customer does master planing just for purchase items, and produces
cooked food.
The Bom's are known.Customer does not report work hours therefore we do not need to make
route planning.

At the end of month the route consumption will be adjusted at closing process.

Do you think do we need to make production license ???

Hi Hennie
When you change the Right to Left aligment, you lost all existing Account.
When Axapta have a Right aligment add blank space front at the Account Number (AccountNum: ' 1125'). Axapta put blank space to complete the size of the field.
Now with left aligment Axapta looking for (AccountNum:'1125').
If you see for the above examples you never find old accounts.
My suggestion  is change back to right aligment, previouse delete the account that you generated with the left aligment.

I changed the alignment of this EDT once (by accident).  It caused quite a bit of chaos since Axapta could not find any of its GL accounts and as a result posted all transactions to the "System Error Account" account.

Hi Harry and Brandon,

Here's our setup for a
60 users environment:

1 AOS

Dual 1.3 Ghz

1 gig RAM

1 DB Server

Dual 1.3 Ghz

3 gig RAM

DB : 4 SCSI disks Raid
10

Log : 2 SCSI disks
Mirror

OS : 2 SCSI disks Mirror

Brandon :

We're already did a review
from the ground up and added some RAM to our DB server and now the sqlserver
uses 1.7 gig and there's always 1gig available.  The real bottleneck we've
found is the Read on our DB disks.  When looking at the windows
performance tool we can see "Avg. Disk Read Queue Length" hitting
real high for long period of time.  I'm guessing some querys uses Table
Scan.  That's why I wanted to reduce read by reviewing bad queries in the
code.  Our DB disk setup with pretty much the best we can do before going
on a SAN.  Our AOS seems at ease with the work load.  That's why I'm
now arrived at step 4, looking at the code.

Harry :

No specific place in
Axapta.  What I want to do is reduced Table Scan globally and minimize
blocking.  For blocking I will start to look at custom process that does a
lot of inventory transfer in 1 long transaction and try to split it up.
Blocking here is a major pain.  It can happen 3 times a day
sometimes.  They usually resolve themselves out but the more it takes time,
the more people get blocked.

Finally, I'm using the
SQL Profiler to check query with long duration.  Sometimes, when I see
lines like :

exec sp_cursorexecute
241, @P1 output, @P2 output, @P3 output, @P4 output, 'boa', 0, 0, 'boa',
'596965'

How can I know the query
that is executed?

Thanks for reading thru,

Steve,

 The improvement of performance, for
any system, starts always at the bottom level. So I would do the following:

(1) Can you improve your system through
hardware? (ex: increase RAM, CPU, Speed of Hard Drives, etc.)

(2) Can you increase performance at the
Database level? (ex: RAM of SQL server, SQL server AWE configuration, Multiple
Processors, un-needed performance drags by Non-Axapta Queries., clustering.)

(3) Can you increase performance at the
Business level? (ex: have two AOS server for load balance, etc.)

(4) Can you increase performance through
code? (ex: making sure Axapta-SQL statements make use of Indices, review large
chunks of code and break them down into more efficient functional blocks of
code, etc.)

This is how I would approach it... from the
ground up, not the other way around.

Hi everyone,

I'm currently looking at ways to improve
performance of our installation.  When looking thru menus I stumble upon
"Performance analysis" in Administration -> Performance test
wizard.  I've run it in our Dev environment to see what it does and the
result was just an info box with the name of some forms.  What does it do
and where are the result of that analysis?

Btw, if you have any hints at where to look
to improve performance/minimize blocking (software way) besides maximizing the
use of index, let me know.

Have a nice day,

There is a great how-to on SQL Server performance

Follow these for doing performance analysis, and it has

I have to say Steve, we are on an HP San,
Fiber Channels, and all, and it kicks major butt! I recommend it to anyone, MSA
1000 (Now the MSA 1500).

We have the SQL Server clustered for Fail
over, and we have some issues when we first started. Of course using SQL
Profiler showed us that we had Non Axapta Queries taking a while. We analyzed
them, improved them, then we also upped out RAM to 3 Gig. You must also realize
that SQL server will not go beyond the 1.7 you are at unless AWE is enabled, and
the 3 Gig. Switch is used (you can search MSDN for how to do this). This will
allow SQL server more room to use in RAM.

As for knowing what Query that is... I wish
I knew of a way because then you could really do some fine tunning within
Axapta. If you find that out please let me know!

I have to say Steve, we are on an HP San, Fiber Channels, and
all, and it kicks major butt! I recommend it to anyone, MSA 1000 (Now the MSA
1500).

We have the SQL Server clustered for Fail over, and we have
some issues when we first started. Of course using SQL Profiler showed us that
we had Non Axapta Queries taking a while. We analyzed them, improved them, then
we also upped out RAM to 3 Gig. You must also realize that SQL server will not
go beyond the 1.7 you are at unless AWE is enabled, and the 3 Gig. Switch is
used (you can search MSDN for how to do this). This will allow SQL server more
room to use in RAM.

As for knowing what Query that is... I wish I knew of a way
because then you could really do some fine tunning within Axapta. If you find
that out please let me know!

Hi Harry and Brandon,

Here's our setup for a
60 users environment:

1 AOS

Dual 1.3 Ghz

1 gig RAM

1 DB Server

Dual 1.3 Ghz

3 gig RAM

DB : 4 SCSI disks Raid
10

Log : 2 SCSI disks
Mirror

OS : 2 SCSI disks Mirror

Brandon :

We're already did a review
from the ground up and added some RAM to our DB server and now the sqlserver
uses 1.7 gig and there's always 1gig available.  The real bottleneck we've
found is the Read on our DB disks.  When looking at the windows
performance tool we can see "Avg. Disk Read Queue Length" hitting
real high for long period of time.  I'm guessing some querys uses Table
Scan.  That's why I wanted to reduce read by reviewing bad queries in the
code.  Our DB disk setup with pretty much the best we can do before going
on a SAN.  Our AOS seems at ease with the work load.  That's why I'm
now arrived at step 4, looking at the code.

Harry :

No specific place in
Axapta.  What I want to do is reduced Table Scan globally and minimize
blocking.  For blocking I will start to look at custom process that does a
lot of inventory transfer in 1 long transaction and try to split it up.
Blocking here is a major pain.  It can happen 3 times a day
sometimes.  They usually resolve themselves out but the more it takes time,
the more people get blocked.

Finally, I'm using the
SQL Profiler to check query with long duration.  Sometimes, when I see
lines like :

exec sp_cursorexecute
241, @P1 output, @P2 output, @P3 output, @P4 output, 'boa', 0, 0, 'boa',
'596965'

How can I know the query
that is executed?

Thanks for reading thru,

Regards,

Steeve...

In Axapta 3.0 is there any way to import the .xpo and

I know that it is possible in axapta 4.0

Actually yes. Z is a control of type real and so are x and Y but the
compiler refuses to use funcation realvalue with any control x, y and
Z.
e.g.I say print print x.realvalue() it gives error field is not part of
table, when I say print x it gives error undefined variable x.

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] report looks fine on screen, but last line missing

Hello,

I have a bit stranger problem with printing.
Problem "appeared" a month ago, only for
few
reports (e.g. invoice). Printout look fine
on the screen, but when I print it to printer,
the last line is missing.

I think the problem is not with margins, because
if I change the layout from portrait to landscape,
the last row of the report is still missing.

I have tested this with two different printers,
but
problem still exists.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?

If i try to make a new Axapta client installation on my pc,
installer recognizes the old installation and tries to use that for repairing
or changing.. So i can install a new client..

Any suggestion? Thanks in advance.

Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] How to create blanket purch order from master planning planned orders

2005-10-20 Thread lukas nugroho
dear Hardi,

if you want to generate Blanket order from master
planning, i think you can't because the default for
firming from Master Planning is Purchase order. If you
want to firm planned Purchase order become Blanket
Order, you must do it from Purchase Order. First, you
create Blanket Order then you chose Setup --> Planned
Purchase Order than you firm it

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Financial Statement Setup

2005-10-20 Thread Tany, Yuliana

The solution is whether you have to use
the Insert Account Button or create the line, insert the account and save it.

When you save, system will bring the
Total from the Ledger Account.

You don't have to redefine it
again.

Hi Yuliana,

I checked your problem you are right. The solution is
to use "Insert Accounts" button. If you insert accounts with this,
the total setup comes with the accounts.

Otherwise you have to redefine the totals .

Hi All

Just want to have a quick check J

For example:

We have an account 100 in Ledger
Account, with Account type total (101-103)

When we create the Financial
Statement Row and insert this account (100), Axapta won't automatically take
the total from the Ledger Account.

So we need to define the Total
again in Financial Statement Row Setup.

Is there any way to copy
automatically (the Total) from the Ledger Account.

Thanks,

Yuliana

Dear preety,

to create sales order form excel, you need to use
SalesTable and SalesLines only. You ought to fill the
requirement field (yellow field). do not change or
delete some field on excel regenerated from axapta.
hope it helps

Actually yes. Z is a control of type real and so are x and Y but the

e.g.I say print print x.realvalue() it gives error field is not part of

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] How to create blanket purch order from master planning planned orders

Dear all
I want to create blanket purchase order from "firming" function in the

I thried to set up via AP parameter and set the default Purchase Order

The reason for doing that is because I want to send a "big" qty
purchase order to the vendor and then later on I want to release the

How to do it?
