[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Product Builder

2008-11-08 Thread Jackie Bond

They produce an item which is composed of different FG (as components) which is
not at all fixed. Means BOM changes everytime.

I have done the following pls tell me if something has gone wrong

I have created 1 modelling variable with Type as table and selected inventtable
in this.

Then i created a datatype

PBAItemId = Item

And have done code as

Item = 'Type';

But whenever i compile it says no eror but when i run it from sales line it
says Field Item Number must be filled in.

Can somebody tell mw whr i am wrong ?

Hi All,

Is there anways of limiting the record set by a prior selection within the
product model.

Validation is great for one or two records however when looking at 30 or
40 records it is tedious and difficult to maintain.

Thanks

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Product Builder - Changing a modelling variable type table during execution

2006-04-26 Thread henricus_verhoef

Hi,

I have the following requirement:

A table modelling variable shows the user a list of possible items
to
choose from based on i.e. Inventtable (ranged on item
type items). The item list shown to the user should however be
limited based on a selection the user made earlier in the dialog
i.e. user selects modelling variable item group value Bulbs. This
should limit the items shown in the table variable to items with
item group Bulbs.

I've been trying to modify the table variable in a post validation
rule for variable item group that always results in a true action
and adding code to modify the selection into the table variable. No
success yet... possibly because I'm not very capable in writing code.

Is there any other options?
Any help will be appreciated

Henricus

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Product Builder

2006-04-04 Thread Craig
Hi,

Have setup a modelling variable of type table. The variable I have setup looks
at the InventTable and the primary field is ItemID and it is ranged.

The user will then select the raw material/Bom line to be used when creating
the new bill of materials.

However I am unable to insert the variable in the BOM node.

Am I doing something wrong or am I using the wrong variable type? When I use
variable type text I am able to insert the variable into the BOm Node.

Effectively I want the user to select the type of material and update the Bom
node with the ItemId.

Thanks for the help

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Product Builder Question

2006-01-28 Thread stanfvaninger
Our company is just in the process of setting up, populating tables,
and doing training on Axapta. It will be several months before we go
live.The two consultants that are working with us do not have very
much knowledge of the Axapta Products Builder.

We are a manufacturing company and would like to use the Product
Builder to do estimates and quotes on new products. An important
requirement is that we be able to save the results of a user session
of the Product Builder to a table so that it can be edited in the
future.

Our estimaters have to gather a lot of data and frequently begin
working on an estimate before all the data has been accumulated. They
need the ability to save a user session and return to it at any time
to enter additional data and/or edit existing information. They will
normally not need to generate the BOM and Route until all the data
has been entered and verified. I anticipate that they will need the
ability to copy an existing configuration to a new configuration and
then make some changes to the new configuration in order that the
costs of the two can be compared.

I am not talking about the product models; I understand that these
are permanently saved (until they are deliberately deleted). What we
will need is the ability to keep the results of running the
configuration user dialog for one of the products models and be able
to edit the data previously entered.

Is this possible with the Axapta Product Builder?

Thanks very much in advance.

Hi,

  I think when you create a Sales Quote the Configuration can be saved and
amended later(PB config is saved). Normally in ETO business you would like to
start with configuration and save it , so the Product Builder model you build
should be having a Item Number Generate rule where by you can track by Sales
Quote Item Number generated during the Product Builder Q A. Let me know if
you have any doubts.

capture from this table and save them in a master screen. I hope this help.

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Product Builder Validation

2005-06-01 Thread Thomas Turney
Tim,

  Unfortunately, product builder doesn't make it easy to do things like
this. You can do something like this in say the item number validation:

str 512 ruleexpr(PBAVarMap varMap)
{
  InventTable InvTable;
  ;
  InvTable = InventTable::Find(varMap.Get(ItemNumber));
  if (! InvTable)
   {  Box::info( Cannot find item number!);  }
  else
   {  varMap.Set(Description,1,InvTable.Itemname);
  varMap.Set(Group,1, InvTable.ItemGroup);
  varMap.Set(Type, 1, InvTable.ItemType);
   }
  Return InvTable.NameAlias;
}

This example shows a way to populate three modeling variables and return a
fourth. The problem is that if these modeling variables are visible, the
values you set won't display on the forms (even though they are set). Good
luck.

Regards,
Tom T.

Hi All,

In a previous post I asked how to get a value from a table
to validate against, Tom T. was kind enough to point me to

Return InventTable::Find(varMap.Get(mw_ItemID)).height

in my validation action.

Now my question is if I need values from say 4 or 5 fields
from the InventTable, is there a more efficient way to get
them.

I come from a Visual FoxPro background where the InventTable::Find
would set the record pointer to the correct ItemId and after that
I could address the table directly to get field values rather than
repetitively calling the find method?

I'm wondering if something like the following would work:
Return InventTable.width

Any thoughts are appreciated

Hello,

When validating in PB how do can I use the value of a Simple
var to validate against?

I.E.
  Simple var text - simpColor (Default Value = Blue)

  Modeling var text input
  Modeling var enum color (Outcomes=Blue/Green/Red)

For user input Blue in input post validate against the
default value of simple var simpColor

if input == simpColor Then

I assume i can accomplish this can't I?

Thanks,

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Product Builder - Validation

2005-05-23 Thread Thomas Turney
Tim,

  Unfortunately, I don't believe you can do this using simple variables.
They are only directly addressable in tree section (lower) of the product
model. They are not part of the varMap.

Subject: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Product Builder - Validation

Hello,

When validating in PB how do can I use the value of a Simple
var to validate against?

I.E.
  Simple var text - simpColor (Default Value = Blue)

  Modeling var text input
  Modeling var enum color (Outcomes=Blue/Green/Red)

For user input Blue in input post validate against the
default value of simple var simpColor

if input == simpColor Then

I assume i can accomplish this can't I?

Thanks,
Tim Peterson

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Product Builder - Enumeration at Runtime

2005-05-22 Thread Thomas Turney
Tim,

  The way I've done this is using pre-field validations. For example you
would create a enumerated text variable with all the different types of
cookies available. Based on the result of another selection (say ice
cream), you would set pre-field validation rules to exclude items. If you
wanted only chocolate and fudge cookies available on selection of chocolate
ice cream you would:

1.) Create a variable validation rule on ice cream, call it Ice Cream
Type, click the rule button and select pre-field validation rule.
2.) Select the drop down value and in then text column enter chocolate.
Click new for a new line (above the current line) and select the
variable drop down. In the text field drop down the variables list and
select your ice cream variable. Last drop down operation column and
select the = sign.
3.) Next click the exclusions button and in this form select the cookie
variable and the ones you want to exclude based on you rule in the
previous form.

  You will need to do this for all the exclusions you want to establish.
Try it and see if meets your needs.

Subject: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Product Builder - Enumeration at Runtime

Hi All,

I'm new to Axapta and working with Product Builder,

I think I need to set the enumerated outcomes of a modeling
variable at runtime based on the user selection of another
variable.

Example:

Modeling variable 1: Enumerated outcomes Cookies or Ice Cream

Based on Selection 1 modeling variable 2 should offer

Cookie
  Chocolate
  Vanilla

Ice Cream
  Low Fat
  Kill me now

I know I can define 2 seperate variables and determine which to
present based on selection in 1. This option is fine for small
population of potential outcomes, but what about cases where outcome
combinations could run to infinity?

There must be a way to add outcomes to a single modeling variable
at runtime.

Can anyone help me with a few pointers on how this is accomplished?

Tim Peterson

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Product builder question

2005-05-17 Thread Axapta Consultant

I have a product builder question.

I have a variable Cust that is a table variable looking up Name

I have another variable PayTerm that is Text type.

Is there a way to get the payment term of the customer I select in Cust into PayTerm in the user dialog?

In technet I saw how to calculate a variable, for example if thereare variables V1 and V2 and you want V1 = 2 x v1, you could do that by creating a post field validation on V1 and for value for V2 write thiscode:

real ruleexpr(PBAVarMap varMap)
{
 return (varMap.Get("V1")*2)
}

I also know I can get what I want using a table node which basically writes a piece of code as

 select firstonly tableSearchCustTable
 where tableSearchCustTable.Name == Cust;

PayTerm = tableSearchCustTable.PaymTermId;

But I am looking at doing it in the PB user dialog itself.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi All,

New to Axapta and building initial product model, I need to
know how to fill the outcomes of an enumerated variable as
the product is built based on the results of prior variable

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Product Builder !

2005-03-17 Thread Francisco Orozco

Does anybody know how to KEEP a BOM from an item that has been created with the Product Builder in the sales orders linesafter it has been deleted from the sales order lines.
Currentlyin axapta you can create an Item with the product builder and you can re-configure, but once you delete the item line from the sales orders axapta keeps the item in the inventory master, but DELETES the BOM from the item.
Anyhelp would beappreciate, thanks

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Product Builder

2004-09-29 Thread slipstream_sa
Hi All,

Has anybody used Product Builder in a Multi-Company evironment? I
have a requirement where there are two companies A B, A is the
factory with the main distribution warehouse and B is a sales branch
with their own warehouse. Configurable items are being sold in
company B using the product builder in the sales order entry form to
configure them, but those items need to be manufactured by company
A. How do I get the configuration details (BOM and Routing etc.)
accross to company A without re-configuring the items in company A.

Any help will be appreciated.

Many thanks

Hannes

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Product Builder Error

2004-09-28 Thread frickmystr

During 'sales order' entry, I run 'function/configure lines' for a
modelling enabled item. After making my selection, I press OK and
then I receive the following error:

Cannot create a record in Bills of material (BOMTable). BOM: ,
Product model no. PMD-0003.
The record already exists.

What are possible causes? I have checked that BOMTable has no
duplicates. However, error indicates that record already exists.
What should I be looking for?
