[AZORES-Genealogy] Translation Help for Death Record

2015-01-23 Thread Diane George
Hi,

I have been searching for the death record for Francisco Dutra Machado on
January 22, 1705. I found a record at
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/FAL-HT-CASTELOBRANCO-O-
1643-1722/FAL-HT-CASTELOBRANCO-O-1643-1722_item1/P122.html (bottom entry,
right page), continuing onto the next page. I see his name in the record,
but the rest of it does not look like anything I have seen before so I am
having difficulty translating the rest. Can anyone help?

Diane George

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Manuel Machado E Maria Fransisca da Trindade

2015-01-23 Thread Cheri Mello
Tony,

Probably is correct. What you need to do is collect all the siblings of
Roza. While you do this, you will note the naming patterns. And you will
also be noting if there are any other couples of similar names having
babies too (hopefully not). If yours is the only Manuel Machado or Manuel
Machado Cotta having kids with a Maria Francisca da Trindade or Maria da
Trindade, then you will know for sure it is your couple.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Manuel Machado E Maria Fransisca da Trindade

2015-01-23 Thread Anthony Soares
 Hi all,

Need a second maybe even third opinion from those with more experience
than I. While searching for the parents of a child named Roza With the
Parents of Manoel Machado Cotta e Maria da Trindade,I have searched back
all the way until this couple would have been in their 40's. Now the couple
in question in the Casamento Manoel's mothers name is Cotta, he doesn't use
it for the marriage . In the Baptismo Manuel has added Cotta and Maria has
dropped Fransica. Is it possible this is the couple I am looking for?

My father's paternal grandmother was from Pico and I was told she had red

My mother's father had blond hair and blue eyes. He was also from Pico.
My maternal grandmother's maiden name was Goulart(e), which I am told is a
Flemish name. She was from Pico, but I have been told her family at one
point in time lived on Fayal. However, I have not had any luck proving or

The record I'm looking at (link above) is at the top of the right-hand page. I
believe it is that of the marriage of Joao Pereira das Neves and Anna Josefa -
26 Oct 1815

I think in this record, it reads that parents of Joao Pereira das Neves are:
Joao Pereira das Neves and Ana Rosa and

parents of Anna Josefa are: Antonio das Neves and Maria da Santa Rosa.

Would someone please help confirm that I have the correct record?

My other question about this record is about the note in the margin to the
right of the recordI see the names Joao Pereira and Anna Rosa ??? Josefa,
but can't understand the meaning of this note. I'm especially curious because
when I look at records for the children of this couple who were married in

There has been an academic study done looking at the maternal lineages of
Macronesia(Azores,Madeira,Canary Islands and Cape Verde) I believe the average
for the Azores for Mtdna with origins in Sub-Sahara Africa was 3.4%, paternal
lineages with origins in Sub-Sahara Africa in the Azores are extremely rare I
believe only one example has been found, using that as a guideline you would
expect an average of 1.7% of the Azorean genome to have origins in Sub-Saharn
Africa. I don't believe that result is far off. It is corroborated by
myorigins results that are coming in, many people are not showing 1% or higher
which is my case but when I use the Gedmatch calculators it definetely is
present especially when I look at my 22 Chromosomes in detail.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Help with marriage record of Joao Pereira das Neves and Anna Josefa 26 Oct 1815

2015-01-23 Thread Rosemarie Capodicci
Evee,

I think that you are right on all of the names. The mother of Anna Josefa
is Maria de something and I can't read Santa but I do read Rosa so maybe
someone else will verify that one. The marginal note is just stating the
groom and the bride as Anna Rosa *digo *(mistake, what follows is correct)
Josefa. So, the bride's name is Anna Josefa not Anna Rosa.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Help with marriage record of Joao Pereira das Neves and Anna Josefa 26 Oct 1815

The record I'm looking at (link above) is at the top of the right-hand
page. I believe it is that of the marriage of Joao Pereira das Neves and
Anna Josefa - 26 Oct 1815

I think in this record, it reads that parents of Joao Pereira das Neves
are: Joao Pereira das Neves and Ana Rosa and

parents of Anna Josefa are: Antonio das Neves and Maria da Santa Rosa.

Would someone please help confirm that I have the correct record?

My other question about this record is about the note in the margin to the
right of the recordI see the names Joao Pereira and Anna Rosa ???
Josefa, but can't understand the meaning of this note. I'm especially
curious because when I look at records for the children of this couple who

It's really simple to use, and you get 2Gb of free storage. Use this link
https://db.tt/HxYIjHBS , and you'll get 0.5Gb extra (and me too).

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Sending my file to a relative

2015-01-23 Thread 'Altino Demelo' via Azores Genealogy
Al, you should use a Dropbox. It's free and pretty easy to use. If the person
who you are sending the file to has an email account, it allows you to share a
folder online between the two of you.

Dropbox is free up to a certain amount of storage.

RE: [AZORES-Genealogy] Study on Sub-Saharan African Admixture in Europeans and Middle Easterners

2015-01-23 Thread nancy jean baptiste
Hi Mary,
Both my uncle and I are showing Hazda..small %'s. Me slightly higher than
his. Within the Ethio helix k10 for middle east admixture, my Hazda is 1.28%
and Uncle John is 1.15%. Very interesting that you've met this group!
These admixture charts fascinate me!

I have indicators showing some North African DNA. What was interesting to me
was the Hazda people in the population list.
There are no indications that I have that DNA, but I happened to visit these
hunter gatherers when I was in Tanzania a few years ago. A very interesting
people whose language includes click sounds. I'm glad to see this population
has been studied. Rhey are losing their territory to other uses.

We also visited the Iraqw. They are supposed to be more closely related to (or
descended from) more northerly people. I think DNA study is going to answer a
lot of questions and pose many more.
Sorry if this is off topic.
Mary

it isn't all East African some is West African although she has more East

ancestry that myorigins isn't able to pick up yet I expect that to change when
they have their Sephardic Jewish Diaspora ready. Ftdna is testing Sephardic
Jews in Israel that were from Salonika Greece and Izmir Turkey two communities
that received a substantial amount of New Christians from Portugal(forcibly
converted Jews) in the 1600's these people converted back to Judaism in Greece
and Turkey. It is possible some may also come from Ethiopia there was a huge
effort by the Portuguese to convert the Coptic Christians there into
Catholicism with many Portuguese missionaries also there was mixed community
there started with about 200 Portuguese soldiers marrying Ethiopian women
likely from the Tigray tribe. Those people at one point were kicked out the
mtDNA M1 haplogroups in the Azores group look like they may be from there.

2015-01-23 Thread Bigal429 via Azores Genealogy
I am trying to send my family file to a relative and it about 51.5 MB.
A.O.l will only let me send 25 mb. Is there a way I can do this on-line. I
know I could send a DVD.
