LOL Nelia these records can make a person feel blind. You can do this. I have
to sometimes look more then once to find what/who I am looking for. You start
getting better each time at reading the records. I still get help on clarifying
what I think I am reading and other times I can read it on my own. I am not
sure if you have this link yet or not but it will help you know what you are
reading. Cheri gave me this link that helps. She gives great advice.

Nelia,

Search again. Be sure to look the year before and the year after. They are
there. I found your Manuel in Sao Vicente Ferreira. He's in 1868 and not that
far into the book. Try again. That priest has a very light hand with thin
penmanship and it didn't film very well. You may have overlooked it.

Remember you want Manuel Nunes married to a Margarida anybody. So if she don't
have the Bizarro (uncommon for this time period) it's OK.

You can find him. Try 1868.  You can do this. Cheri

For the birth of Manuel Nunes Bizarro, look at the baptisms in 1869 (search a

Manuel born to a Manuel Nunes e de Margarida de Jesus Bizarro. Here is the link
for Sao Vicente Ferreira:

For the birth of Maria dos Santos, look at the baptisms in 1885 (search a year
before and a year after as well, so 1884-1886). You are looking for a Maria
born to a Antonio Resendes e de Maria de Jesus Silva. Here is the link for
Fenais da Luz: http://tombo.pt/f/pdl07

I'm not clear if "Manuel and Maria dos Santos" are the same as Manuel Nunes
Bizarro and Maria dos Santos or a different couple.

I know that my great grandparents Manuel and Maria dos Santos were married in

Hi Nelia,

I'll try my best to keep my story, which is similar to yours as small as
possible. When I started the only information I had besides my grandparents
names and birthdates, was their parents names. So I entered the info I had,
tried to to find more. After a year or so I stopped. Then after a 2-3 year
hiatus I took up the search again with the help of some family I was able to
find my great grandparents passenger manifest which showed they emigrated to
Hawaii in 1906. My grandmothers family came from the Azores (obviously), while
my grandfathers came from Ilha Madeira. Both on the same ship. With the help
and suggestions of many people in this group I have been able to go back quite
a few generations.

You are not able to look at anyone’s tree though without a membership unless

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] FTM issue

It shouldn’t delete anyone unless you have done so on your tree in ftm. Also
make sure when sharing your tree you never give people the option to add or
delete anything. If they have corrections they can share them with you to be
added.
I hope this helps some. If not maybe I am not understanding your problem.

Margin notes state that a certificate was issued. They never say why.

Also if you can not find the information at the museum you might want to go to
the main liberary downtown. They have lots of information for history and
genealogy research in the California Room. The state Liberary is on L I believe
and they also have most records for the state availible for research. You will
want to check online first before going to check on there hours to see when
they
are open. Cut backs have affected that alot.

When you go to the train museum, if you have time, could you find out if there
are records of weekly pay statements for 1858-1900 for the men who built the
railroad. I think I am interested in the railroad that was near Mission San

I would have to disagree with that comment. I first used FTM because it was
simple but over the last 10 years or so I have come to really like what they
are
doing with the newer versions. They have come along way and have made it a
great
way to source and document facts allowing photos, Videos and scanned documents

I was "googling" CCA to look up some information on my maternal
great-grandfather and discovered that at least 15 months ago there was
a Vivian (Silva) Christy on the list who is searching her Madruga,
Machado, Nunes (etc) lines from Lajes do Pico.  I gathered from her
e-mail back in November 2009 that she lives here in San Diego.  I
wanted to let her know that I am tracing the Madruga, Machado and
Nunes lines.  My Nunes line I have traced back to
Madalena but there I hit a brick wall.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Hotel In Lisbon

2010-11-14 Thread Julie Marsh
As far as the area to stay in, it is better to stay in the Chiado, then in
Rocio
and the Biaxa which can be unsafe at night for tourist. The Alfama is always a
nice place to stay and only stay in the barrio alta if you are young and want
to
party... not a place for peace and quiet.
Also you might want to look into renting a vacation apartment. Sometimes you
can
get a great deal on them.

I second that. I stayed there five years ago. It was a convenient walk to
shopping and restaurants and the trolly stop was right outside. I also don't
know about how it compares to others as far as rates go.

There was a nice view from the rooftop at night.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] NEED HELP WITH ANCESTRY.COM

it might be the pop up blocker stopping you from accessing that. Check to see
if you can turn it off and then check to see if it works then.

i had to dowload the new internet explorer browser as 'final jeopardy' would
not load

now i have a problem with ancestry.com

before when i saved manifests and censuses to my hard drive they would go to a
temporary folder and a screen would pop up to retrive them to copy to the hard
drive

now when i save the files the temporary screen doesn't pop up and i can't file
the saved files anywhere on my computer but i know they are there

can anybody tell me how to access these files

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Madruga family

2009-11-11 Thread Julie Marsh
Who was it that said there Madruga went to San Diego? I have a distent cousin
listed fromt there. Other then that my Madruga line is speratic as they did not
carry the sir names generation to generation for all the children. Most of mine
are from around the mid 1700 to the 1900's.

You can contact me at julzz...@yahoo.com for more information.

Hello Maggie,

I was told my Becky Madruga that all the Madruga's are related.  I have
relatives here in San Diego but have not yet done that line.  I know Becky has
done her line back to 1700's. Manoel Goularte Gracia Madruga born about 1700 in
Sao Matheus, Pico, Acores is Generation 1.  From there it goes to Generation 7
and lots of names.  I can contact Becky Madruga and give her your email address
if you would like more information on that line. Let me know. Vivian

Hi Rick,

I've seen a couple of records where the parents weren't married (or were
married to other people) and the records clearly state that.  I saw one where
it said the woman was married to so and so and the father was an adulterer!
George Pacheco and those that research for others have seen many of these types
of records.

I think the priest forgot the words "sua mulher".  Maybe it's his second wife
as the first one died after having the 5 or 6 kids??
