Subject: Re: Preps 500 and 501 Effects as they relate to Sequential Spraying
Dear Merla
I am unable to explain any of this but can offer a few
comments/observations
* the BD farmers in Australia who have encountered problems after a period
of what looked like successful practice are mostly from the Alex Podolinsky
group and have been mostly not using 501 or very little of it and certainly
not in concert with 500 - and for sure no horn clay. I'm not challenging
AP's knowledge but the message has not been filtering through to the other
end of the pipeline.
* these farms have suffered flat battery syndrome somewhere between 7 and 15
years.
* The new organisation of Biodynamic agriculture that I belong to (Cheryl
Kemp writes here sometimes) is promoting the spraying of 500 and 501 in back
to back applications - 500 at evening and then 501 next morning over the
same area, farmers that have done this so far are talking very nice results
and more important have experienced none of the supposed ill effects from
using 501 in what is a very warm and high light environment, they have NOT
burned up their hay crop or had premature fruiting or all of the other
things that worries people about using 501.
* when we started using our broadcaster (three seasons ago ) I didnt have
access to horn clay for some months and yes we got results (visible) but it
was as if things were haphazard - the whole place went into rampant
flowering in late spring / early summer - perennial weeds, the native
plants, our home garden , everything just blazed into bloom. The look of it
was as if we were shunting things one way then the other.
* After about four months I got Rae cards that included the horn clays and
made up a new set of reagents and I have always used horn clay since that
time. In the broadcasters I use the full suite of preps 500 through to 508
plus horn clays.
* I guess the best description I have is if you came to a furiously boiling
pot and turned it down to a gentle simmer, we dont see as much happening
(things are much more subtle), but I also think its much more stable and
balanced.
* its human nature that we look for a quick result, or a dramatic change,
but I do think that a slow gentle shifting of the balance point is a lot
more beneficial in the long run.
Just a few thoughts from down under
Cheers
Lloyd Charles

  Dear Hugh

Thanks for posting this to BDnow - we do appreciate the
effort you put into this - our soils and biology professors would have great
difficulty arguing against the science you have presented here!
Gillian (Cole) may get some useful insight into
the effect of colours from a look at the work of John N Ott - his video "
Exploring the Spectrum" is still available for sale and is very
interesting. Looks at the effects of different light frequencies on
plants, animals, and humans, (kids in school), well worth a viewing by anyone

Terribly time consuming. Hope I see you in NZ in July. I'd like to forward
this discussion to BDnow to see if I can stimulate any further
comments.Hugh Lovel  How important photons are and how much
coherence in light uptake by plants (or animals) affects things is not so
clear. For example animals have chemical reactions beginning at the retina and
traveling down the optic nerve to the pituitary and affecting the pineal
gland, etc. on through the body chemistry. We don't know nearly enough about
this, but it is important way beyond what usually is believed. Pumpkin vines
make more female flowers under the (I think it is blue) influence of one end

2003-06-05 Thread Allan Balliett

FEDERAL UPDATE: WESTON A. PRICE FOUNDATION

JUNE 4, 2003

USDA CHOOSES INDUSTRY OVER CHILDREN IN SCHOOL LUNCH DECISION

Despite thousands of comments to the federal government from parents,
teachers and children nationwide opposing irradiated meat in the
National School Lunch Program, the U.S. Department of Agriculture
(USDA) ignored the will of its constituents and approved the use of
irradiation for the federal nutrition program on May 29, 2003. By
offering schools the option of purchasing irradiated meat for school
lunches, which feed 27 million children each year, the USDA could
become the largest distributor of irradiated food in the world.
USDA’s press release on irradiated foods in the school lunch program
can be found at
http://mailhost.groundspring.org/cgi-bin/t.pl?id=16866:569532.
However, all is not lost! Here are several positive indications that
can influence this process:
1) Over 91% of the thousands of comments submitted to the USDA on this
issue were opposed to the agency's proposal to purchase irradiated food
for school lunches.
2) Schools will have a choice between irradiated and non irradiated
meat. Therefore, it is essential that you request from your school
board and food services director to choose NOT to serve irradiated
meat.
3) The availability of irradiated meat for school lunches will not
begin until January 2004. This is a far cry from original plans to
begin serving irradiated meat this year.
4) The boxes of irradiated meat arriving at schools will be labeled.
However, labeling in the cafeteria or parental notification is NOT
required. The USDA will "encourage" schools using irradiated meat to
let parents know. Please urge your schools to properly label
irradiated meat and send home notification if they will be serving
it.
5) The USDA estimates that irradiated ground beef will cost 13 to 20
cents more per pound. This is a financial disincentive for
cash-strapped schools to spend extra money on an unnecessary and
potentially harmful food item.
6) Even before the announcement, USDA has been funding a pilot
"education" program in Minnesota to develop pro-irradiation
materials for parents and teachers. The materials developed in
Minnesota will be available for schools all over the country to use
in the fall. However, this program has been less successful than
USDA planned. One of the three participating school districts
recently pulled out of the program because they did not feel
comfortable distributing these "education" materials to their
parents and teachers!
***Your Action Is More Important Than Ever!***

USDA's announcement still leaves a way for us to protect School
children. The choice is up to local school boards and district food
service directors whether or not to purchase irradiated meat, or
choose the non-irradiated option. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT WE WORK AT
THE LOCAL LEVEL TO PREVENT THIS IN OUR OWN SCHOOL DISTRICTS! Please
use the following website to obtain more information on how to work
with your school district to stop the purchase of irradiated foods:
www.safelunch.org. You can download an organizing kit from this site
at http://mailhost.groundspring.org/cgi-bin/t.pl?id=16867:569532.
The organizing kit is very comprehensive and useful. This kit was
created by Public Citizen – Ralph Nader’s political action
organization.
In addition, Public Citizen has issued two very comprehensive
reports of food irradiation. I highly recommend that you read these
reports (They are in PDF format, so you will need Adobe Acrobat
Reader. To download Acrobat Reader for free, go to the following web
site: http://mailhost.groundspring.org/cgi-bin/t.pl?id=16868:569532).
The two reports are:

of Irradiated Foods” -

Legalize-Food Irradiation without Testing for its Safety" -

***Legislators Can Be Sensitive To This Issue!***

Senator Leahy of Vermont wrote to the USDA this week about the
uncertain health effects of serving irradiated meat to children. To
see the full text of his letter go to:
http://mailhost.groundspring.org/cgi-bin/t.pl?id=16871:569532.

Contact your representative and senators today to urge them not to
support irradiated food in school lunches, and to correct the damage
done by last year's Farm Bill and the recent USDA ruling in favor of
irradiated foods for the school lunch program. For the address of
your two Senators and Representative, please go to the following web

Good Afternoon List Friends,
This URL was picked up this morning from the Food Safety Net clipping
service out of the University of Guelph.
http://www.fao.org/english/newsroom/news/2003/18603-en.html
It points out that, "The identification of a single case of BSE is not a
cause for panic," said FAO's Andrew Speedy, Animal Production and Health
Division.
"It is good news that odd single cases of BSE are being picked up by
inspection. There has been no sign of an
escalation of numbers in any of the countries that have identified
isolated cases. Rather, it demonstrates that active surveillance is
picking up the one-in-a-million case."
The "one-in-a-million case" comment is interesting. After more than two
weeks following the single cow in Canada back to the source, they have
still found no other infected animals in the depopulated herds. My
personal suspicion is that they will not find any others infected, and
that they will find no source of contaminated feed either. It is more
likely that BSE, like CJD in humans, occurs spontaneously in roughly one
animal in a million. The problem in the UK was that central nervous
system tissue from one or more infected animals got into the feed of
other cattle, causing the escalation of the outbreak. Now that we have
restrictions on those feeding practices the FAO pointed out in the
article that a few cases have been found in many countries round the
world but that it has not spread because of new feed restrictions and
"effective government programs to find and destroy the disease,"
The "one-in-a-million" comment also has other implications. It suggests
that virtually every country which has cattle likely has a rare
spontaneous case of BSE, and that the only reason we have not found it
in North America until now is that we have not been checking enough
animals. An interesting thought.

OFF: Planet Jr Seeder Manu. Rights to be auctioned

2003-06-05 Thread Allan Balliett
Farm equipment manufacturing opportunity

Planet Jr. seed sowing machines were important tools for
American vegetable, herb, and flower growers for over 90 years. The
brand changed ownership several times, presently in the hands of
Powell Manufacturing Co. in South Carolina. Over the last few years
there were various quality problems in the seeders that Powell was
making, and we stopped selling them except on special order, though
we continue to offer spare parts.
Powell has, apparently, recently come into hard times, and
the assets, including the Planet Jr. brand, are going to be
auctioned by sealed bid on August 15. We have reverence for
properly made Planet Jr. seeders, they would enjoy a strong market
in my opinion, and we would dearly love to see somebody pick up this
opportunity. Johnny's would be first in line to become your
customer.
Are you experienced in manufacturing, iron casting, machine
tool work or the like and looking for a new opportunity? Somebody
you know, maybe? I suspect that Planet Jr. could be had for a
screaming bargain. This link has the information --
http://www.rosensys.com/auctions.htm .

Re: Introduction

2003-06-05 Thread Hugh Lovel
Dear Arjen,

Sounds interesting. I'm fresh back from an atmospheric regeneration
workshop in Santa Fe, New Mexico where I and my colleague, Lorraine Cahill
worked to show New Mexico environmentalists how pollution blocks rainfall
and how the ethers are easily restored, using the BD prep remedies, to
their proper state of organization--resulting in rain. We received a total
of 0.877 inches of rain at the site targeted by our radionic treatments. I
believe it was a good learning experience for all involved, including
myself.

I don't see how we can theorize in our armchairs about these things and
hone in on target about how they work without doing a big bit of work on
the practical side. And I don't see how we can be biodynamic purists and
just work with the BD preps without seeing how this relates to such things
as color, Bach Flower Remedies, general homeopathics, dowsing, etc. So I
welcome you to this discussion, as I'm sure many others who are working
with homeopathy, radionics, dowsing, etc. on this list also welcome you.

Till we meet again,

Best,
Hugh Lovel
