The good thing about git is, that anyone can easily fork and due to the
advanced merging possibilities can much more easy backport features or

 So, what does forum members with families find to be the big issue with
 the lack of multi-user support in the current solution ? Are favorites
 the main problem or are there other things too ?

Right now it's still 'easy' (with a 2 year old kid).
I personally don't need favorites, so favorites are used to have fast
access to all important kids albums.
I browse my full library and don't care yet about 10-20 kids albums
inbetween.

Thinking into the future (and being pragmatic):
I guess I'd just need two separate libraries. One with the kids albums
and one with my own (+wifes) albums.
Two separate folders would be enough for maintenance - if they just
showed as My Music Stefan, My Music Son in the menu it would be
good enough (no user profiles needed, where one item is hidden based on
the user or controller used).

With Windows file shares I could even manage access, so that my son
beiing 10years old could only manipulate/extend 'his' library.

Probability of having the same album in both folders is pretty low I
guess (I expect our tastes to differ very much, at least as long as he
is living with us). As I don't want for user profiles which would hide
stuff, my son could browse in my main library (and I could browse in
his) anyway.

If we really want to have the same album in 'our' menus, then well -
just copy it over and have it redundant in both. This would only count
for 10% albums if at all.

All this could be achieved with the multilibrary plugin already today,
so this plugin in it's simplest form (separation by folder), is all I'd
need from Logitech to get a big improvement for my daily family life.

SqueezePlug/SheevaPlug is doing fine with transcoding m4a to FLAC and
also transcoding to mp3 for bitrate limiting is no problem, when Shine

WebUI + plugins work fine here too and I run 5 Squeezeboxes with it.

So a simple mem + cpu upgrade to at least 1,2Ghz and 512MB Ram would

You won't ever find a company that commits to anything like that.

So for me a statement like

 do you guys care about votes or no?
 We do. Probably not at the level some might want us to care, but still.

is good enough.
It shows that people still care which matters a lot in big companies
and which gives me hope (on the long run).

And come on: it won't ever matter how many votes bug 15604 will get.
It's a highly debatable bug report: making UI more versatile vs. more
clumsy to new users so it will always be up to a product manager what
he personally prefers and if it matches his vision of the product.
This has nothing todo with ignoring votes altogether

 3rd party to develop Squeezeplay-like application that supports
 slimproto? (of course, if they license slimproto from Logitech) Or for
 Logitech itself to port Squeezeplay for Windows to run on Android so
 that it can be used on the Revue? Am I dreaming here again?

It's not clear yet, whether the final version of Android running on the
GoogleTV will support native Apps like SqueezePlayer.
The leaked version wasn't able to and a test a month ago with the help
from someone from Logitech also hasn't been succesfull :(

It's the inbuilt audio decoders in SqueezePlayer that for performance
reasons are written in native code (i.e. C and not Java) and don't work
right now on Intel platforms (GoogleTV being the only official Intel
platform for Android right now anyway).

Google provides an official development kit for the Intel architecture
in the meantime and SqueezePlayer compiles fine with it. Whether the
final version of Revue will take advantage of it ... well - we have to
wait and see.

Unfortunately does not help here :(
Unlike iOS , on Android there is no access to the inbuilt decoders.
Only simple Media Players who can say 'here Android play this whole
file' can take advantage of it.

SqueezePlayer needs exact timing information about the current playing
stream and its own buffer handling to support synchronization and
gapless playback. So a real SlimProto client does a lot of stuff on its
own - unfortunately.

On Android the sync with SqueezePlayer is rock solid for all people I
know of. This is because Android provides exact timing information of
the currently playing stream.
I won't give a guarantee though because with all those cheap tablets
around I'm sure there will be one manufacturer in the future who messes
up the sound system or uses an unreliable timing chip which will spoil
the experience.

So far GoogleTV still does not support native App like SqueezePlayer,
though Googles development tools support building for x86 in the
meantime. So SqueezePlayer is ready when GoogleTV is :), so far all
tests didn't look promising though. Oktober 3rd will show.

Sync on Windows won't happen. Sound system is not reliable and does not
provide exact timing information. This would only work with ASIO but not
all soundcards provide support for that.

Sync on iPad with SqueezePad is rock solid too by the way, here I even
put it in the App description.

Spotify will work with triodes plugin installed but will never work
with Logitechs App due to licensing issues.

When using the image browser to browser by year I think it's ok still

When the date is still in the name of the menu-entry I'd prefer to have

Some more findings in the picture list:

a) a lot of pictures have the name 'MEDION DIGITAL CAMERA' in my
collection. I think this is what erland mentioned before and I agree
with him that you should rethink using the description tag and just use
the filename instead

b) don't you think 'all pictures' is rather dangerous ?

c) surfing by year: what I meant: a single picture menu item is
rendered with filename and the timestamp.
So if you omit the 'day' menu level but just render all pictures menu
items directly after selecting the month - then still everyone can
scroll down fast to a desired day.

7.5.5 had the 'scanner is crashing bug', which was only fixed after
7.5.5 ?

So I guess we should consider 7.5.2 as the most stable release if
people don't want to upgrade to 7.6.
But 7.5.2 is not compatible with Lion, ... arggsss ...

 Is there a bug report for this? These special icons are usually only

 I've applied a change to 33099 which should return the original file
 too.

Thanks Michael. No - there is no bug report, I just posted it here.
SqueezePad right now only appends resizing parameters when retrieving
covers. I was not aware that this was possible on URLs as well.

Apart from that surfing all menus on Controller and SqueezePad I could
not find any oddities. Scan returns same number of albums, playlists
and tracks. All covers available.
For me the RC (with this fix) is fine then.

 When I browse into Artists 10,000 Maniacs No Album , I get a

 When browsing to an artist that has albums and a No Album, the No Album

when he says the bug is not completely fixed yet.

Didn't check yet, if that would still be the case

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] SQLite WAL in 7.6.1 - please test

2011-08-10 Thread bluegaspode

I disagree.

From what I read on the forum 7.6.1 (without WAL) solves 80% of the big
problems. Time to get rid of 7.6.0 for all users that today buy new
Squeezeboxes and only see the download portal where still 7.6.0 is the
only available option.

Also users with a Touch not running their own server (and thus being
forced to what MySB.com offers) need a 7.6.1 with great need to get
their full collection and artwork back.
Not to speak of the already fixed 'it turns On/Off' bug, that seems to
affect all MySB.com users as well?

As far as I can tell the only 'bigger' problem left is that some users
for unkown reason have very long scanning times. But these also seem to
be the users with overly large collection that can be asked to wait for
7.6.2.

If you just count users writing 'thanks 7.6.1 beta now solves my
problems' against those that still have slow scanning times it's a 8:1
ratio (gut feeling).

If they cannot release 7.6.1 within the next two or three weeks,
Logitech seriously needs to think about officially rolling back to
7.5.5.

So Logitech: leave out new fancy stuff, focus on what you consider
Prio1 (=affects 80% of people) bugs and get out a 7.6.1 to stop the
biggest part of the current nightmare.

And is it really worth to do this change in 7.6.1?
You already fixed so much to the good and now - given that you cannot
do any reasonable testing right now- introduce such a big risk.
Changes to database modes have nothing to do on maintenance branches
(IMHO)

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] What's happening with LMS?

2011-07-29 Thread bluegaspode

I'm happy to not influence the statistics
running one server each on win, mac + linux :)

I'm not sure how many people really run Squeezebox Server on a Desktop
Windows computer turned on/off or look for a 24/7 server.

When going 24/7 they can choose between
- NAS with good support for SBS (Synology+QNAP+Buffalo provide easy to
use packages)
- WHS: bit more expensive but familiar windows
- Mac Mini.

Don't think that from market shares (non Logitech related) WHS is
better than NAS? From my feeling, the marketing of Synology+QNAP is
much more aggressive.

[SlimDevices: Beta] MySB 7.6: album art for radiostation vanishes within a second

2011-07-26 Thread bluegaspode

When I start an internetstream on an updated Radio (and Duet Controller)
connected to MySB.com I can only see the radiostations logo for a
glimpse of a second.
The logo is then replaced with the no cover image.

Not happening on all Radio station but for '104.6 RTL' or 'SpreeRadio'
(Germany-Berlin - the first two stations).
Maybe this is happening for radiostations that have embedded metadata?

Checked the comet-log with SqueezePad here is the first player-status
after the radiostation was started with the a fine artwork_url tag:

Code:

  DEBUG - 141768ms (/Users/bluegaspode/Documents/projects/iPad/SqueezePad
Trunk/Classes/CometD.m:185) -[CometD evaluateCometDMessage:] - CometDMessage: {
  channel =
/1412648X1891b806ea62f9eccee6c643b16bf597e584ac4fXc42c03c4cc9eX0X1311707725Xcd10df5f/slim/request;
  data = {
  current_title = 105'5 Spree Radio 105.5 (Top 40-Pop);
  mixer volume = 5;
  mode = play;
  player_connected = 1;
  player_ip = 85.178.40.91:48594;
  player_name = Duet Controller;
  playlist mode = off;
  playlist repeat = 2;
  playlist shuffle = 0;
  playlist_cur_index = 0;
  playlist_loop = (
  {
  artist = 105'5 Spree Radio 105.5;
  artwork_url = http://radiotime-logos.s3.amazonaws.com/s17211q.png;;
  coverart = 0;
  duration = 0;
  id = -184276544;
  playlist index = 0;
  remote = 1;
  title = Bruce Willis - Under the Boardwalk;
  }
  );
  playlist_timestamp = 1311707864.80065;
  playlist_tracks = 1;
  power = 1;
  rate = 1;
  remote = 1;
  remoteMeta = {
  artist = 105'5 Spree Radio 105.5;
  artwork_url = http://radiotime-logos.s3.amazonaws.com/s17211q.png;;
  coverart = 0;
  duration = 0;
  id = -184276544;
  remote = 1;
  title = Bruce Willis - Under the Boardwalk;
  };
  seq_no = 0;
  signalstrength = 0;
  time = 0;
  waitingToPlay = 1;
  };
  ext = {
  priority = ;
  };
  id = 38;
  }

Then a second later the artwork_url tag is missing - also some other
metadata has been changed, that's why I suspect this is the update
related to the metadata from the stream.

Code:

  DEBUG - 143360ms (/Users/bluegaspode/Documents/projects/iPad/SqueezePad
Trunk/Classes/CometD.m:185) -[CometD evaluateCometDMessage:] - CometDMessage: {
  channel =

  data = {
  current_title = SPR_AIRAAC_SC;
  mixer volume = 5;
  mode = play;
  player_connected = 1;
  player_ip = 85.178.40.91:48594;
  player_name = Duet Controller;
  playlist mode = off;
  playlist repeat = 2;
  playlist shuffle = 0;
  playlist_cur_index = 0;
  playlist_loop = (
  {
  artist = Bruce Willis  The Temptations;
  coverart = 0;
  duration = 0;
  id = -147725888;
  playlist index = 0;
  remote = 1;
  title = Under the Boardwalk;
  }
  );
  playlist_timestamp = 1311707864.80065;
  playlist_tracks = 1;
  power = 1;
  rate = 1;
  remote = 1;
  remoteMeta = {
  artist = Bruce Willis  The Temptations;
  coverart = 0;
  duration = 0;
  id = -147725888;
  remote = 1;
  title = Under the Boardwalk;
  };
  seq_no = 0;
  signalstrength = 0;
  time = 0.045;
  };
  ext = {
  priority = ;
  };
  id = 3;
  }

So MySB.com seems to reset the stations image.

2011-07-19 Thread bluegaspode

Hmmm ... all sounds too complicated to get reliable/comparable results
from different people i guess.

And the numbers from your test library are indeed to far away from the
real world.
So the only option would be to generate FLAC test files with real world
file sizes, but that wouldn't be downloadable, but people had to
generate them as well.

Again to complicated I guess to get some results also from Synology and
QNAP users?

didn't need to implement features in the client.

But I interpret your answer as do not hope to see 'rescan library' in

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.6 recent behavior change?

2011-04-01 Thread bluegaspode

I didn't try 7.6 too much, so just have my 'knowledge'just from reading
this thread.

I think it's right to keep internal database structures case-sensitive
(in order to realize that there a bugs in tags, whatever).

But I strongly agree that when one does a search, one needs
case-insensitivity and also 'fuzzy'-logic that ignores accents, cases
(and if one wants to be 'perfect' even swapped chars and the like ;) )

One might discuss, whether browsing stuff should be considered a search
as well.
I.e. you have the genre 'Rock' and 'rock' - when you browse the genre
list you will have to entries. But when you select either genre you get
the 'album search result' for genre Rock/rock.

I'd prefer the latter.
It's end-user friendly (while still preserving the possibility to find
the errors) and only we programmers (and some rare pedants) might
shriek.

I'm looking at the comet command (i.e is it 'albums' or 'artists') and

Now every command is 'browselibrary' and without knowing all possible
keys I might get ambiguous keys.

awy;620432 Wrote:
 That is not going to work. You are not going to be able to work out what
 kind of list you are looking at by using the command used to obtain the
 list.
Well - it works good enough with server 7.4 + 7.5.
And as Squeezebox server is deterministic in all menus that access the
database, what's so wrong to expect that the same command always
returns the same results (at least under My Music where it uses the
database).

 Basically, the SlimBrowse protocol is not designed to facilitate
 content-knowledegable caching. It is a menu-presentation protocol, not
 a data-delivery protocol. I know that several people such as yourself
 would like the like the latter but that is not what it is. The UI model
 is implemented on the server, not the client. The client only provides
 the skin.
Having a nice and clean architecture is one thing.
But if the user experience then fails due to long loading times of
menus that are used over and over again then one has to do
compromises.

 If you want to implement the model in the client

I don't want to implement a model in the client, I'm using 100%
SqueezePlay menus. But those menus that have long loading times and
don't change until the next scan just need to be cached and therefore I
need to
- parse the commands to identify cachable menus
- create a unique key for that particular menu.

 We are starting QA testing on the 7.5.4 RC, with plans to release

I cancelled the SqueezePad update I had already submitted to Apple
(because of the encryption on cometd) to incorporate the new changes
needed for 7.6. for onebrowser this weekend to have a version that
again works with 7.5.4 and 7.6.x.
I resubmitted this new version this weekend, but Apple review times
right now are typically two weeks long (rejections not counted in,
keeping fingers crossed).

Had I known before the weekend that you planned the release the week of
March 28 I wouldn't have cancelled the initial update, which already was
in Apples queue for a week.

So as a wish from third-party devs: announcing the release of a new
version two weeks in advance would be even better than just a single
week.

I keep fingers crossed that Apple will be a bit faster this time, but
if the timeframes don't match I have to ask you to deactivate gzipped
cometd based on agent name as you proposed.
Otherwise people won't be able to connect to MySqueezebox.com anymore
with SqueezePad (with a local server people are able to wait a week
before they upgrade, so there's a workaround available).

Thanks for announcing the current time-frame!
It's a step in the right direction, now we need to see how we get along
with it.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.5.4 Release Candidate - r32078

2011-03-21 Thread bluegaspode

 I'm sorry about that, but this is really a bug in SqueezePad, not the
 server. Let's see if Apple will approve your update within a week.

I agree, but it will not help the reputation of Logitech.
If people upgrade and afterwards anything is not working people take
the easy route when it comes to blaming someone.
(Personally I still defend the opinion that for whatever reason these
changes were done - they don't belong on a maintenance branch if it is
worth its name).

I did my best to react as fast as possible (i.e. 48 hours after the bug
was known) and now we have a bad coincidence that within a timeframe
from two weeks a statement like 'onebrowser will not be in 7.6' (making
me not look into it) now surprisingly became a 'today we moved the
nightly builds to onebrowser' forcing me (due to a another bug in
SqueezePad of course) to send an update again.
Otherwise this would have worked out very well.

Anyway - I really don't want to complain too much here, as announcing a
RC is the right step to do - even if it makes a little bit more
transparent the side-effects and consequences of all our doing.
Now let's wait if Apple is nice - if on monday the App is not in review
I'll apply for a fast-track-review, which would give a rough target date
of 30/03/11. This should match your own plans good enough.

Thanks again for telling us at least a week before so we can adopt
(even if grumbling ;)).

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Status of onebrowser

2011-03-18 Thread bluegaspode

On SqueezePlay devices 'add' and 'add-hold' behave different (sample is
from a single track of an album):

Code:

  add = {
  cmd = (
  playlistcontrol
  );
  itemsParams = addallParams;
  params = {
  album_id = 40;
  cmd = add;
  menu = 1;
  sort = albumtrack;
  };
  player = 0;
  };
  add-hold = {
  cmd = (
  playlistcontrol
  );
  itemsParams = commonParams;
  params = {
  cmd = insert;
  menu = 1;
  };
  player = 0;
  };

The former adds the whole album to the end of the playlist, while the
latter just adds a single track as the next entry.

In version 7.5.3 both ('add' and 'add-hold') only operate on a single
track.
SqueezePad (and I think iPeng too) use these actions to make our
playlist modification modes work (i.e. tapping a track will add a track
next or to the end of a playlist).
Adding the whole album to the end is not nice.
Only the 'go/do/play' actions used to replace the playlist with the
whole album. Also the Play Other Songs In Album documentation only
refers to the 'Play' action.

Apart from that I did a full testcycle in SqueezePad now and cannot
find any more oddities.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Status of onebrowser

2011-03-18 Thread bluegaspode

OK - one more ...
SlimBrowserApplet.lua - you added a new alias 'goAction' in 7.6 - this
was not there in 7.5

Code:

  --maps actionName to item action alias
  local _actionAliasMap = {
[play]  = playAction,
[play-hold] = playHoldAction,
[add]   = addAction,
[go]= goAction,
  }

If people (for whatever reason) stay on an older firmware (as people
often do, when they don't trust the latest version) and connect against
a future 7.6 mysqueezebox.com they will get into trouble.

If possible I'd suggest not using any new alias?
Right now the favorites menu is affected.

 None of this is really logitechs problem , but it manifest when trying
 to run the server and blame will fall acordingly. And it migth not be a
 positive consumer experience to fall on you face when trying to set up
 the thing :)

And then in the future users see a setting to switch to MySQL and think
'hey I heard that - this is the famous open source DB, let's use this'
and fail because:
- Logitechs QA is not as dedicated to MySQL compared to SQLLite
- They still have they virus scanners on causing trouble (even me is
getting a support request once a month, which in the end boils down to
virus scanner issues).

So again unhappy customers for no reason.

Keeping MySQL only has drawbacks and very rare pros:

(+) you keep a minority happy who insist on using MySQL.
(-) you have twice the QA+Development costs (having a big automated
testsuite does not prevent this. In the end you need to do the
integration test, as the databases DO differ: transaction handling,
deadlock escalation, internal query optimization, index usage).
And if you consider MySQL as the first choice for huge music collection
you just have to care and can't just hope that queries that work well on
SQLite will do so on MySQL.
(-) third party devs have twice the effort: even if erland decides to
support only SQLite. Who will be the first to demand MySQL-support from
him ?
(-) you get all kind of trouble with virus-scanners again

My vote: just drop MySQL and keep away from all the troubles you will
have with supporting two databases.

By the way: did the server code had some closed source as well? If
that's the case using MySQL (as you link the GPL driver) would be a GPL
license violation anyway.

[SlimDevices: Beta] why is q...@slimdevices excluded from mails on bugzilla

2010-04-26 Thread bluegaspode

I realize that when a bug-report is assigned to 'q...@slimdevices.com'
they don't get any notification on new comments (they are always shown
as excluded).

Is this intended ?
How will you get notified, when someone tries to help you with
reproducing an issue ?

I always get a strange feeling, when just all votees are notified but
the actual target audience (i.e. logitech) is excluded ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.5 nightly. Radio alarm still unreliable

ModelCitizen;530839 Wrote:
 1) Despite a set 1 hour time out the default alarm sound (the lively
 music loop) continued to play for four days solid when I went away and
 forgot to turn the alarm off
This is how it is coded currently. Nothing can stop the fallback alarm
but manual user interaction. When the fallback started, the server is
distrusted, so the timeout from the server is ignored.
You should file an enhancement request, that a fallback alarm also
stops after some arbitrary time (the radio could synchronize the
timeout at times when the server is still trusted - this for instance
is already done for snooze-times).
This problem can be reproduced by everyone.

 4) I have two alarms set in the morning. One at 6.30 and the other at
 7.20. The alarm is set to a one hour time out. If I leave the first
 alarm playing when the second one fires the Radio goes silent (this
 always happens)
I read this from different people now. As it also always happens to you
I'd also file a bug report as this is easily reproducable.

Don't have any ideas about the other points. 2+3 will needs logs I
guess.
5: I didn't face problems yet with the power button.

1) http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=14874
2) Press the 'back'-key
3) latest firmware (r8402) contains a lot of logging for alarms, if
possible you should provide it (/var/log/messages - you can use a
program like WinSCP to download it from the radio). This is also the
revision for 7.5 where all changes of Bug
http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=14870 are integrated.
The last fixes should guarantee that there is at least a backup alarm.
4) don't understand the problem. Do you mean Snooze or Sleep ?

As to MySB.com and SBS-sync: I think I tested it once (some month ago)
and alarms didn't seem to be replicated.
If one has a SBS I think you shouldn't you MySB.com directly to avoid
confusion (at least thats how I cope with it :) )

2010-01-14 Thread bluegaspode

 Because i'm running sbs 7.5 beta , how else to experience real bugs
Interesting - if you compare the firmware revisions 7.4.2 and 7.5 ...
then in 7.5 only fab4 and controller get the latest firmwares
and in 7.4.2 the radios firmware is newer than in 7.5 (but still not
the latest).

 That's quite a cool tune
You won't like it when it starts at full volume in the night as the
fallback alarm :)
It least it makes sure you get up VERY fast ...

 So basically, quit using the 'none' string and instead nil out
 self.alarmInProgress, and then check for self.alarmInProgress as well as
 audioState not equal to 1 for the hammer rearm. Make sense?

Looks very clean - also the sledgehammer will hammer now when in
RTC-mode (and no audio playing)

+1.

I want to see where errors are made and don't want to have an 'arbitary
random' image.
Whatever algorithm you take - alphabetical, resolution, filesize - from
the users point of view you take a random image which *could* be the
right - but most of the time plain wrong even in the simplest
scenarios:

- simple scenario: back.jpg + front.jpg - image
  alphabetical: takes 'back.jpg' = wrong image
  by size/resolution: takes 'back' (as the back image is bigger) =
  wrong image

  of course these names change - but when choosing by alphabet in the
  end this boils down to a 50:50 chance to get either one.

- advanced scenario: back + front + booklet
  alphabetical: random, as we don't know how booklets typically are
  named
  by size/resolution: takes booklet (its biggest, because 2-sided) =
  wrong

- more advanced scenario: back + front in different resolution
  alphabetical: random (as the size is somewhere in the name - always
  in a different spot for each album downloaded somewhere)
  -100x100front.jpg, front100X100jpg, front50x50
  by size/resolution: random

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Does voting really help ?

2009-10-13 Thread bluegaspode

I do have I bugzilla account but don't care if this is dropped in favour
of the forum account.

Maybe you should just create a new forum thread (or poll) with an
announcement of some migration strategy (like - all bugzilla accounts
get synchronized, if email-matches, all other accounts are renamed to
${username}_OLDBUGZILLA or the like to avoid future clashes).
Then write an email to all current bugzilla-users asking for their
participation thus everyone is informed and still have a chance to
adopt.
If you get good feedback, just do it !

 However, something needs to stop Bugzilla comments becoming an alternate
 forum. Perhaps each Bug should have a linked thread in a forum (doesn't
 necessarily matter which) for debating design issues and keep bugzilla
 for tracking progress and testing?
I think this is a good idea but hard to enforce.
On the other hand logitech developers who are always in copy could
create and link a new forum thread discussion anytime they feel they are
spammed with comments in the bug.

 Is there any way to get the 7.3.3 analogue clock back?

It would be easier, when new issues are started in new threads, than to
bang everything in the same thread which gets so mixed up that noone
from tomorrow on will look here again and find stuff/solutions.

Please read my answer on how to get your old clock back here:

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.4 firmware with SC 7.3 - possible?

2009-09-29 Thread bluegaspode

I used a 7.4 Controller several times with a 7.3.3 Server and faced no
problems (playing music and listening to radio)
For my NAS there isn't a 7.4 Server available as well.

Is there a similar feed for squeezeOS checkins ?
It looks as if
http://news.gmane.org/gmane.music.equipment.slimdevices.jive.scm

would be the one, but it isn't populated ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Progress in controller playback

2009-09-24 Thread bluegaspode

could you please report a new bug on this? This is far more effective
than posting on the forums and not getting an answer :)
If we are lucky it will help fix the other problem ... as playing the
intro-sound isn't a beta-feature, maybe there is more luck in getting
this solved.

Still on holiday with a very expensive internet-costs, so can't do it
myself ... Good Luck !

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Information about third party applets ?

 I did the same thing, so you are not alone.
thats makes two developers lost :) who is going to provide new applets
then ?

 Wouldn't it be possible to skip the radio buttons completely and let
 Current just be a read-only text that indicates if it's installed or
 not and then let Install and Remove be items which you can click
 right to install or remove an applet ?
+1

 The install/remove on the main menu would just be used to re-install
 applets after a firmware upgrade. ... and would be called 'reinstall
 applets' and only be visible when
there is a mismatch like described by triode. I.e. after manually
removing applets or a firmware flash - so most of the time not even
visible to the normal user.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Information about third party applets ?

2009-09-15 Thread bluegaspode

Its a bit unintuitive now.

The radio-buttons (install/uninstall) hidden in submenus is not nice.
I really thought hard (while beeing in the submenu) how to install the
applet until I found out to go a menu above to push the 'master'-install
button.

This also made me install two applets instead of just one (it seems
that in the submenu always 'install' is selected).

Do we really need the possibility to install more than one applet at
once ?
'My Apps' can also installed only one at a time, so I'd vote for real
install/uninstall buttons in the submenu of an applet.

Nice presentation of the information (author/description) though !
