Hi Becky,
It sounds like it may be the same problem I have been having with Jaws since
at least version 10.
FS is aware of this and I have spoken with Eric Damery about it, and we
haven't found the problem yet.

You should contact them and let them know that you are having this problem.

[Blind-Computing] software sound generator

2010-10-24 Thread Annette Carr
Hello List,

I am wondering if there are any free software programs out there that will
let the user create and record a sound to a format that can be played on a
iTouch. My daughter is working on a science project where she has to
generate a sound that simulates a compression wave such as that of an
earthquake. She has to be able to control the frequency, decibel and
duration of the generated sound. The saved sound will then need to be
played back from her iTouch. Of course I am hoping that there is a program
that is compatible with JAWS running on a laptop with XP. Otherwise it
needs to run on a laptop with Vista. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

[Blind-Computing] daily information

2010-10-24 Thread David Ferrin
Daily Tip:
Keep Up With Updates

Many types of viruses and malware use known vulnerabilities in Microsoft's
Windows operating system to find a loophole into your computer. Typically, the
Windows Update patches fix the known issues and help keep your PC secure. If
you don't want Windows to automatically update, at least configure Windows
Update to notify you of the latest patches, so you can check out if there are
any security updates that may be needed to fix holes in Windows.

  Daily Term:
keyword

When using a search function, a keyword is the word the user wants to find in a
document or documents. For example, to find all documents about dogs in a
folder, a good keyword might be dog. Some word processing and database
programs let the user attach certain keywords to specific documents to make
searching faster; rather than searching the entire file, the search program
might only look at lists of user-defined keywords for each file.

I just downloaded Wave Pad, and it might be helpful. It has a sound
library, that maybe we can start with by downloading a sound and edit it to
achieve the effect we are looking. If anyone can direct me to sound effects

that would be great.

Does anyone know if there are any JAWS scripts for Wave Pad. JAWS is not
telling me what each of the buttons are. But maybe I do not need to use the

Subject: [Blind-Computing] software sound generator

Annette

[Blind-Computing] MICROSOFT WORD 2007 AND HEADERS

2010-10-24 Thread Josh
Friends,
I am writing a paper for my Psychology class and in my introduction Microsoft
Word 2007 is insisting on putting part of it into a heading two style. Can
someone please assist me on how to remove headers? Is there a Jaws key command
or a microsoft word command for removing headers? I am using Jaws 12, Microsoft
Word 2007 on a Dell Inspiron 1545 with a Windows XP professional operating
system. Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.

2010-10-24 Thread Scorpio Forever
HI Annette,

You might be able to get away with using Switch for the trial period, at
which point, once you've gotten the file down, you use the Switch software
while it's in it's trial phase, and convert it to M4A. At that point, you
can load it onto iTunes, then sync it with the Touch.

If you do a Google search for Switch file converter, it'll take you right to
the website within the first or second hits.

So, just to recap...

You would use the WavePad utility in the Accessories menu, and record the
sound, or what ever it is you want to distort, then it'll save as a Wave
format recording.

At that point, you use Switch file converter to convert the sound into the
M4A format, then load it onto the Touch where she can use the App to
manipulate it.

2010-10-24 Thread chris hallsworth
I doubt it. JAWS 8.0 was the first to support Microsoft Office 2007.
JAWS 11.0, as of 1430 I think, is the first to support Microsoft Office
2010. JAWS 12.0 supposedly has enhanced support but I have not tested it
yet.

Hi Becky,
It sounds like it may be the same problem I have been having with Jaws
since at least version 10.
FS is aware of this and I have spoken with Eric Damery about it, and we
haven't found the problem yet.
You should contact them and let them know that you are having this
problem.

This is a Jaws problem, although it seems to be a rare one.

Hi,

Does anyone know if either Sonic or Roxio is accessible with Jaws?
And what version will work with it?

I am using the latest version of Jaws on Windows XP system. I am
looking for a good software that can copy DVD, burn DVD and CD and
other functions that will work with a DVD/CDRW drive. I also would
like to be able to erase both DVD and CD rewritable disk.

I know that there are quite a few software mentioned in the Jaws
Users and Blind Computing sites. I originally have been using Easy CD
creator basic 5.3 (Roxio) for 6 years. This version was installed on
my Dell computer when I got it new. Since I was able to replace my
CDRW drive with the DVD/CDRW drive, it appears that my version of
Roxio is no longer compatible with this new drive. I am open for any
suggestions and using other software that will work and be Jaws friendly.

Many thanks in advance. Take care.

Lennie

still then need assistance making the actual install take place since even
