Please. One user on here asked for these and I decided to send the link to
list. I do not use win 7 and do not even have access to a
win7 machine. I cannot test it. The archive I uploaded contains both an
installer for the sound scheme as well as just an archive of the sounds.

Use at your own risk or just ignore the post.

The two programs you mention are on demand scanners and not real-time
anti-virus programs, so it is not necessary to first remove them before
installing MSE. You can continue to use them in conjunction with MSE for
added malware protection.

Re: [Blind-Computing] ANDRE LEWIS SOUND SCAPES FOR WINDOWS 7

2011-07-31 Thread John Justice
As I understand it, it's a sound scape which means that it will just be one
more added to those already in the Sounds and Audio section of the control
panel. If it doesn't work, I'll just go back into that settings display and
load another one which would include the Windows Default, the one Windows 7
uses automatically. There are lots of different sound scapes there. I'm
really curious to see if any of those other ones make a difference.
That remains to be seen.
Even at the worst of times, the speech would still work so these are just
additional sounds which tell you what your computer is doing.

Hi Yvonne,

When using the 7Zip program, you press enter on the add to archive option,
to archive / compress a file, you are given 4 options of what you would like
the file extension to be, or which method of compressing you would like to
use.  They are as follows;
1. 7z.
2. tar.
3. wim.
4. zip.

If I have confused you as much as I did myself trying to explain this I do
apologize! LOL LOL Hope this might have helped, a little?! Take care.

[Blind-Computing] ALTERNATE WINDOWS SOUND SCAPES

2011-07-31 Thread John Justice
Hi everyone,

Did you know that there are about 15 different sound scapes in that list? I
wonder if they are any different than the Windows Default?

This is so weird! I'm writing this note and something is going on in the
background. The Andre Lewis thing is telling me by making clicking and
clunking sounds. At first, they are somewhat disconcerting but I'll bet I
get used to them. Now, if I could only modify that closing sound and put
something else there.

Thanks everyone for your help. This is fascinating.

Re: [Blind-Computing] ALTERNATE WINDOWS SOUND SCAPES

2011-07-31 Thread Doris and Chris
You actualy should be able to change any sound of any sound scheme to
what you want it to be. I do not know about win 7 but in xp this is
done in the sound and audio applet from control panel.

When you select your sound scheme, you are also given a list of all
the sounds in it and are able to tab thru the options. You are able
to manually select a sound for each event in the sound scheme.

Safe your existing sound scheme before you make changes though.

Have fun!

Doris

Hi John,
After you unzip the, Andre_Lewis_sound_scheme_.7z, there is another 7Z
folder named, 44.1k - SoundScheme - no installer.7z. Unzip this folder
all the individual sounds are this folder so you can play them 1 at a time.
Take care.
Mike

  Hi everyone,

Did you know that there are about 15 different sound scapes in that list?
I
wonder if they are any different than the Windows Default?

This is so weird! I'm writing this note and something is going on in the
background. The Andre Lewis thing is telling me by making clicking and
clunking sounds. At first, they are somewhat disconcerting but I'll bet I
get used to them. Now, if I could only modify that closing sound and put
  something else there.

Thanks everyone for your help. This is fascinating.

Doris sent along that Andre Lewis sound scape in a 7Z file format. My
Windows 7 system won't open it.

What file can I use to do that? I tried downloading RegWork but it
doesn't

seem to be accessible.

Any help would be welcome.

[Blind-Computing] Looking for an Uninterruptable Power Supply

2011-07-31 Thread Lisa Salinger
Hello,
I'm trying to buy an UPS, and since this is my first, I'd appreciate
recommendations. Is there anything or any brand I should look for, or any I
should avoid? Many thanks.
