Yes, I've done it using jaws 12 and you do it exactly as per the instructions
you got from the site, except that you have to tab for some of the options and
at some stage also have to choose between whether you wish to burn an audio, or
data cd.

You don't have to use the jaws curser anywhere.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] anyone use the Windows 7 default CD burnner?

I've asked several questions of JAWS users for help in burning a CD with
different burning software, but I stumbled upon a site that says that things
have got a whole lot easier. Windows 7 has its own built in burning features so
you can burn a CD/DVD in just a few clicks.

1. Select a file or files you want to burn to a disc, and click the Burn button
at the top of your window.

2. You will then be presented with another window showing the files added to
the burn list, so you will be able to add more files to the burn list if you
want or you can just click burn to disc.

3. It will then check to make sure you have a disc inserted into your drive,
and if you do you will be asked to add a name to the disc and you can choose a
different write speed if you wish but it will automatically select the highest
recording speed available for you.

4. And once you've clicked next it will begin burning the files to the disc,
and then your done.

 What I'd like to know is if any JAWS users burn a CD with this Windows
7burner, and to please tell me how? I have Windows 7 on my computer

2, navigate to your music folder,
Now select the music you want to burn to disk/DVD,
Press the applications key, up arrow and enter on,

still busy with part of install process, whether there's something else wrong,
like hardware incompatibility, since this is like a 4 year old acer laptop,

Thoughts on what to try to actually try messing around with the operating

Hello there;
If your really having problems/issues burning files, You could also use a
program called, BurnAware Free It's very user friendly.

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] anyone use the Windows 7 default CD burnner?

Hello the easiest way to do this is;

1, place a blank CD into the drive.
If a wizard comes up, just press alt+f4.

2, navigate to your music folder,
Now select the music you want to burn to disk/DVD, Press the applications
key, up arrow and enter on, Send-to sub-menu, Up or down arrow and enter on
the CD/DVD drive.

Note most likely a wizard will come up.
The screen will be something like this;

  Burn a Disc
  How do you want to use this disc?
  Disc title: June 18 2012
  Like a USB flash drive
  Save, edit, and delete files on the disc anytime. The disc will work on
computers running Windows XP or later. (Live File System) With a CD/DVD
player Burn files in groups and individual files can't be
  edited or removed after burning. The disc will also work on most
  computers. (Mastered) Which one should I choose?
  Next Cancel

  So, you would tab and enter on,
  Next button,

give a little time you should hear; Files Ready to Be Written to disk,
  Press applications key, Up or down arrow and enter on burn.
  Note, your still in your CDDrive with the files showing.

now you will see this screen;
  Burn to Disc
  Burn to Disc
  Prepare this disc
  Disc title:
  June 18 2012
  Recording speed:

  New files being burned to the disc will replace any files already on
  the disc if they have the same name.
  Close the wizard after the files have been burned Next Cancel Here
  you would press spacebar or the enter key on next.

   now will see the following screen;
  Burn to Disc
  Burn to Disc
  Burn an audio CD
  Music files can be burned to disc as data for playback on the
  computer, or in a format that will play on a home or car stereo.
  Which format do you want to use?
  Make an audio CD (for standard audio CD players) Make a data CD (for
  computers and some CD players) Next Cancel

  The make a audio cd is checked, so go to next, and press enter.

   you will now hear;

  Windows media player, jaws will repeat this, media player, media player.

go to desktop,
  Tab twice,

  One time is the start button,
  The next press of the tab, you will probably hear, Computer, or,
  something just right arrow until you hear, Windows media player,
  press enter.

  This is now the last step,

  With windows media player opened,

  Use the tab key, until you hear;
  Start burn button,
  Alt+s,

  So press the spacebar,

  And, you can also try;
  Once you enter on windows media player, You could just press
  alt+s=burn,

hope this helps a little.

I've asked several questions of JAWS users for help in burning a CD with
different burning software, but I stumbled upon a site that says that
things have got a whole lot easier. Windows 7 has its own built in burning
features so you can burn a CD/DVD in just a few clicks.

1. Select a file or files you want to burn to a disc, and click the Burn
button at the top of your window.

2. You will then be presented with another window showing the files added to
the burn list, so you will be able to add more files to the burn list if you
want or you can just click burn to disc.

3. It will then check to make sure you have a disc inserted into your drive,
and if you do you will be asked to add a name to the disc and you can choose
a different write speed if you wish but it will automatically select the
highest recording speed available for you.

4. And once you've clicked next it will begin burning the files to the disc,
and then your done.

 What I'd like to know is if any JAWS users burn a CD with this Windows
7burner, and to please tell me how? I have Windows 7 on my computer

I don't know much about windows 8.
I havn't tried it here because I don't have an extra computer.
I would recommend to get windows 7 now for the computer that needs to be

Then later when your other computer needs to be replaced in a year or 2 to
get windows 8 then.

Hi group. I agree with Mark in this case. You may not remember but early
versions of Windows 7 were a mess. Upgrades and fixes used to come almost
every day for a while until Microsoft got things on track.

They usually do get things fixed eventually. Buying or upgrading to a new
piece of software can be compared to trying out a new medication. Some
people love the challenge of working out the bugs. Personally, I enjoy
playing with a new piece of software but I get very frustrated when things
don't work as they should. Ask David Ferrin. He has pulled my irons out of

He has pulled my irons out of
the fire more than once.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Window's 7 or 8

Looking for feedback either on list or off. I currently have
3 computers in the home network that are all running XP Pro. I realize this
will be supported until I believe June 2014. However, One of the units is
having extreme issues and really needs to be replaced. There is another that
could be.
My understanding is Window's 8 is coming out in the Fall sometime. I have no
personal experience with Window's 7 or 8. I know once Window's 8 is released
you will still be able to get Window's 7 pre installed on new units
purchased but I'm sure it will fade quickly. So my question to those that
have tinkered with both, would it be better to replace units this Fall while
Window's 7 is still the base system or wait until Window's 8 is the norm?
All suggestions and comments welcome

Look for it to end up on the server early this afternoon if all goes
according to plans. I did it in both XP and 7 since the procedure is

Hello the easiest way to do this is;

The screen will be something like this;

   Burn a Disc
   How do you want to use this disc?
   Disc title: June 18 2012
   Like a USB flash drive
   Save, edit, and delete files on the disc anytime. The disc will work on
computers running Windows XP or later. (Live File System) With a CD/DVD
player Burn files in groups and individual files can't be
   edited or removed after burning. The disc will also work on most
   computers. (Mastered) Which one should I choose?

   So, you would tab and enter on,
   Next button,

 give a little time you should hear; Files Ready to Be Written to disk,
   Press applications key, Up or down arrow and enter on burn.
   Note, your still in your CDDrive with the files showing.

 now you will see this screen;
   Burn to Disc

   Disc title:

   New files being burned to the disc will replace any files already on
   the disc if they have the same name.
   Close the wizard after the files have been burned Next Cancel Here
   you would press spacebar or the enter key on next.

now will see the following screen;

   The make a audio cd is checked, so go to next, and press enter.

you will now hear;

   Windows media player, jaws will repeat this, media player, media player.

 go to desktop,
   Tab twice,

   One time is the start button,
   The next press of the tab, you will probably hear, Computer, or,
   something just right arrow until you hear, Windows media player,
   press enter.

   This is now the last step,

   With windows media player opened,

   Use the tab key, until you hear;
   Start burn button,
   Alt+s,

   So press the spacebar,

   And, you can also try;

Windows8.

Take care.

 Subject: [Blind-Computing] Windows8 preview installation

 Ran through installation of windows8 preview yesterday on my one spare
machine, installing it over an old installation of windows XP, but issue
is
now that while it seems to have pretty much completed installation, and
is

apparently now asking for things like settings, etc., I don't seem to be
able to get it to make sounds, start narrator, invoke run dialogue box
etc.,
so not sure if it's still busy with part of install process, whether
there's
something else wrong, like hardware incompatibility, since this is like a
4

year old acer laptop, etc., etc.?

 Thoughts on what to try to actually try messing around with the
operating

system for real..?

 Stay well

Look for it to end up on the server early this afternoon if all goes
according to plans. I did it in both XP and 7 since the procedure is
slightly different. I also am posting the tutorial I did some time ago for a
friend covering how to search for an author by last name. Both come out
together less than 10 minutes but I do try not to be long winded. Just
review if you don't get it the first time.

the options and at some stage also have to choose between whether you wish

I've asked several questions of JAWS users for help in burning a CD with
different burning software, but I stumbled upon a site that says that
things have got a whole lot easier. Windows 7 has its own built in burning
features so you can burn a CD/DVD in just a few clicks.

1. Select a file or files you want to burn to a disc, and click the Burn
button at the top of your window.

 you gave the follow as a reply to my question:
Yes, I've done it using jaws 12 and you do it exactly as per the
instructions you got from the site, except that you have to tab for some of
the options and at some stage also have to choose between whether you wish
to burn an audio, or data cd.
.

You don't have to use the jaws curser anywhere.

Hello the easiest way to do this is;

The screen will be something like this;

David,
I can see that this process will work but can't you locate the Burn
option right on the wizard's main page, press on it and the CD will burn?
That would seem to me to be a less complex approach.

  Hi Tom,

  If you press the keystroke insert +F1, while in any application, this
turns
  on keyboard help. I'm assuming that you want to find the buttons on a
  webpage. Go to the webpage turn keyboard help on then press insert,
  control, + B. This will verify that this keystroke will look for buttons
on
  that page or in IE. One other thing, is it possible that the webpage you
  used the keystroke with, didn't have any buttons? I am running XP Pro,
J13,
