[Blind-Computing] List Reminder

2013-05-19 Thread Moderator
If you want to post to the list, and are not sure if your post is on-topic,
then you need to contact the management team to find out before posting.
Simply putting off-topic in the subject line, does not make it alright to
post.
This also applies to the posting of articles and goods and services for
sale.
Additionally, send any questions or concerns to the management team, and not
the list.

Hi Alan,
If we don't draw the line somewhere, this list will be nothing more than a
copy of the blind-tech list,
which was not my desire when I created this list in 2007.
At the time the list was started, the focus was laptops and desktop PCs and
their peripherals.
Now that the list belongs to Dave, he will always have the final say in any
decision
and the management team will follow his lead.
If you think about it, technically, most of todays electronics can be
considered computers of sorts,
but they are not within the scope of this list.
Cel phones may be used for many things these days, but they are still
phones.

Just to add my two cents, but if you are going to add all you say, I
feel the IPhone should be included too as most use much more as an I

We are planning on making an addendum to the existing guidelines
possibly adding tablet computers. The documentation has not started as
of yet, just giving you folks a heads up. Phones will still be off
topic but I pads and such devices will most likely be allowed.
Obviously we will let you know the final decision.

[Blind-Computing] List Guidelines Reminder

2013-05-01 Thread Moderator
Welcome to the Blind Computing mailing list.

This list has been created for the purpose of discussing any and all aspects
of computing with the blind user in mind.

List Guidelines:

The following are guidelines set forth by the list management team and every
member is expected to abide by them.

1. Profanity and ethnic or racial slurs will not be tolerated.

2. Flaming of individuals or groups or organizations of any kind will not be
tolerated.

3. Advertising is not permitted.

4. Political or religious inferences or discussions are not permitted.

5. Forwarded messages and attachments are not permitted. If you have an
article or message of interest which relates to the nature of this list send
it to the list owner and if it is appropriate, it will be posted to the
list. Additionally if you want to make an announcement about another list
send it
to the list owner for consideration. Do not post it to the list before
obtaining approval.

6. No off-topic posts! Simply placing off topic in the subject line does not
make it all right. Off-topic posts include but are not limited to
discussions
of Blind advocacy groups,
products for the blind that are not computer-related items, Transportation
for the blind, and Job opportunities or concerns. If you are not sure
whether
or not your topic is appropriate contact the list owner for approval before
posting.

7. Cross-posting is not permitted, and members should only post in the
following manner:

Using the TO: field with only one list address.

The reason for this is that in cases where people setup their message rules
to go by the To: field often times such rules get fowled up and in effect
do not work properly. Also cross posting might allow you to reach many lists
at the same time but the fact is such a post might not be on topic for
each and every list. This practice does nothing ut clutter up such lists
with
unwanted off topic messages along with annoying the list moderators.

8. On topic posts may include but are not limited to discussions of
Screen readers and magnifiers, computer peripherals, (scanners printers
Braille devices etc) Computer operation, Computer maintenance and Computer
building.

9. Subject lines should be clear and to the point! Subject lines such as "I
Need help" or "Does anyone know" are not descriptive and might be ignored
by the very person who might otherwise have answered your query. Also do not
include any member names in the subject line.

10. Keep the message content relative to the topic being discussed! If the
conversation starts to drift from the original topic initiate a new
conversation message with a new subject line to reflect the new topic.

11. No auto responders are to be used on this list! Those who use auto
responders for vacations and so forth must make sure that this list is not
included. Any person who sends an auto response message will be removed!

12. The discussion of anything illegal is absolutely forbidden, along with
flirting or other such inappropriate activities. this
is not a high tech swap shop or anything of that nature at all. This means
that goods and or services will not be bought or sold using this forum.

No message headers please! Nobody wants to read an irrelevant message before
reading your post.

If you want to plug your business church or whatever do it somewhere else
not on this list!

If you want to include contact information and a tag line at the bottom of
your messages feel free to do so but do not make another message out of it.

Remember that there are people of different walks of life origin age groups
and levels of computer experience on the list. Individuals with more
knowledge
and experience should be patient with those who are trying to become more
proficient.

If you have comments, questions or concerns about how the list is being run
do not post them to the list contact the list management team.

It is not the place for any individual list member to admonish another
member for an improper post let the management Team do their job.

Hopefully everyone will benefit from this list and it will allow all of us
to be more comfortable and productive using these machines that help us get
thru this thing called life!

* By joining this list you accept the guidelines as outlined above, and
agree to abide by them. If you don't agree, then you should unsubscribe.

How about sending a new message to the list instead of replying to a current
thread?
That way you won't have to remember to change the subject line.
Remember to keep the subject line relevant to the topic, with no extraneous

This will help members sort thru messages .

Hi,

If it is the same as 2003?

1. select the column
2. press alt and o
3. use down arrow to go to column
4. press right arrow
5. choose autofit

if you wish to autofit all data:-
go to first cell
press ctrl and a for all
then do as before.

Hope this may help?

[Blind-Computing] Adobe Reader tutorials

Just changing the subject line to reflect the question.

I have Adobe Reader on my computer. I'd like to try reading PDF files with
it instead of Open Book. I like that feature in the program, but when I
read a book and close the program, I have to wait to open the book again
when I go back into the Open Book. I know you can save it as another kind
of file, but I'd like to try the Adobe reader and see how it does. Is there
any kind of tutorial or guid that tells you how to do things step by step?

Thanks much, guys, for the help.

Why? Why this?

[Blind-Computing] List Guidelines Reminder

2012-12-01 Thread Moderator

Hey iPhone users
I just did this, and I got this off the Kim Komando website.
If you know anyone else that has a iPhone let them know about this.

Users got more than an improved Siri and the new Passbook app when they
upgraded to iOS 6. Apple's latest mobile OS has given advertisers a brand
new way
to track your Web surfing.

It's called Identifiers for Advertisers, or IFA. When you upgrade your
existing gadget - or buy a new iPhone 5 - that gadget will be assigned a
random IFA
number. When you look at a Web page or an app, advertisers see your number
and the site you were browsing.
Once they know that, it suddenly becomes easy for them to target ads
directly to you.
Apple hasn't advertised this feature much, so not many people know how to
turn it off. Plus, the setting isn't where you'd expect.

You have to go to Settings
General
About
Advertising.
Look for the section labeled "Limit Ad Tracking."
Confusingly, by default this is set to Off. In order to stop advertisers
from seeing your unique number, you have to switch the slider to On.

Advertisers have tons of annoying ways to track you online. Here are three
more ways you can opt out.

list of 3 items
. Tracking cookies can tell advertisers tons of information about your
browsing.
Protect your browser from them.
. Some advertisers give you a way to opt-out of tracking automatically.
I'll show you how.
Turn on Do Not Track on IE 9
Do Not Track is an easy way to tell advertisers you're not interested in
them tracking you. This handy website allows you do it on Internet Explorer.

Simply load the site and follow the instructions. Once you're done, any
sites that have agreed to honor Do Not Track will no longer track you. Fewer
advertisers
will grab your personal information when you post on social media.
Not only does this site help you turn on Do Not Track, it will show you
whether you've done it properly. It displays a graph that will show you
whether
Do Not Track is enabled on your browser.

A hug - is a sign of love.
A laugh - is a sign of happiness.
And a friend like me?
Heck...that's just a sign of good taste!

[Blind-Computing] List Guidelines Reminder

2012-06-01 Thread Moderator

I've done this very thing for many years now.
At the phone company I had a special headset, one wire going
to the
phone, the second to the computer.
At the casino I used two headsets.
It can definitely be successfully done.
Good luck.

If I wanted to pretty much go back and start from the beginning, or
pretty much the beginning concerning computer use, where and how would I
do it? I'm missing all the fun and I'm tired of not knowing anything.

Thanks in advance.

[Blind-Computing] List Guidelines Reminder

2012-03-01 Thread Moderator

There are checks I have to write and hand over directly to the payees each
month. I do use my bank's online payment services, but there just times
when writing a check is the most practical and convenient thing to do.

Brad,
You didn't say which version of Windows you have, but you might check
on Total Recorder from www.high-criteria.com (hopefully that's the
website, if not Google can surely direct you.) This is supposed to
work with Windows 7 though I've yet to test it, not sure about Vista.
It's not free but you should be able to do what you want.

[Blind-Computing] List Guidelines Reminder

2011-11-01 Thread Moderator

Hi Alex,

It does, it says: malware bytes has blocked the following port: ip address:
process skype.exe or utorrent.exe
Which suggests to me it is blocking ports, or why would it come up with the
message.
Btw I do resent being treated like an idiot. I may be a new old member, but
that doesn't make me stupid!

I do not believe that Malwarebytes blocks ports. Port blocking is normally
the function of a firewall. What message are you getting that makes you
believe that MWB is doing the blocking?

[Blind-Computing] Changeing time for checking messages

2011-07-07 Thread Moderator
Hi Cliff,
First of all, your subject line needs work, it doesn't tell us anything
about your question,
which is why I changed it.
Secondly, it would be helpful to know what e-mail client you are using, if
that is the messages you are referring to.
Then, we could have a more relevant subject line.

Is there a Booksense Bookreader user mailing list? Or are questions
about this gadget appropriate for this list?

Briefly, I am currently negotiating purchase of such a used
Bookreader device and need to find out if i can flash the firmware
back to the U.s. American one as the Booksense would be used to read
materials in English. the device is currently running a European
bilingual firmware and was origianlly purchased in November of 2009.

Thanks much.

obtaining approval.

Hopefully everyone will benefit from this list and it will allow all of us
to be more comfortable and productive using these machines that help us get
thru this thing called life!

hello Larry
I have as the subject box states changed the text contained within it.
thank you to both yourself and Mathew for replying.
what I actually wanted was one level for everything.
for instance an m p 3 file plays a lot louder than a CD that the really not
interested blind society send out.
the m p 3 files can be heard 2 doors down while the CD'S I have to be
virtually sat on the loudspeakers.
so I wanted to know if there is a volume level that will play everything at
the same level unless I press f7, f8 and f9.
how did you get on with Maggie's netbook?

[Blind-Computing] Notice regarding posting messages

2011-06-13 Thread Moderator

In recent days, I have un-subscribed several members,
for not following the guidelines regarding messages.
As I mentioned several months ago, this is the manner in which improper
postings will be handled.
The reason for this, is that folks continue to post to the list,
disregarding the list guidelines.
I started doing this because it takes less time to un-subscribe someone than
it does to sit and write messages like this one.
So, it would be to everyone's benefit to actually read the list guidelines,
and understand them before asking a question, or answering one.
If you become un-subscribed, don't write to Dave privately, that doesn't
carry any weight,
instead, as is stated in the list guidelines, direct to the management team
any concerns,

that way all of us will know what is going on.
This is the last reminder!
Thank you,

Dear Jacob ,
This seems too good to be true, and looks reallly easy and pretty neat.

What I do not understand, is why would a company or web site set up some
up that they cannot make money with?

But I will give it a try, as I said it looks really easy, just what a slow
buck like me needs!

Hi listers,

I just joined this list and hope this query isn't off topic.

Does anyone here use Movie Maker or know where I can get help to use it as
a totally-blind person?
At this stage, having managed to record with an external webcam, I am
trying to learn how to cut and paste, and how to mark the exact position
at which an audio or graphic file can be inserted.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hatch.

[Blind-Computing] List Guidelines Reminder

2011-03-01 Thread Moderator

2011-02-28 Thread Moderator

All,
Could we be a little more mindful of our subject lines please.
Things like, dumb question, help please, etc don't really add to the post,
in fact,
it doesn't help those who may use the list archives or need to browse thru
messages more efficiently.
Please keep subject lines short and to the point, without extra and
non-descriptive words.

Some people just can't help themselves, and those are the ones that aren't
welcome here.
I just mentioned last week that people that like to belittle, or talk down
to others need to have the

decency to do it directly to those people off-list,
and if they couldn't do that they should leave, or we would show them the
door.
Dave is a little under the weather right now, , but he would agree that the
actions of this individual are not in line with the intended spirit in which
the list was built.

Are there any other takers?

Because OE has been around so long, the solutions for Ivonne's questions

incredibly easy to find and abundant via the most basic Google search. It

Google to search for the following:
How to create multiple signatures in Outlook Express?
Thank you Mike for your efforts but maybe teaching this person how to find
his own solutions is now in order as its easy and would take less time

the amount of time he has demanded of your kindness.

Hi Yvonne;

I looked at the signatures tab in OE. It looks like you can create
multiple

signatures but, when you want to assign a certain sigmnature to a certain
email address that you would go into Tools, Options, control + tab to the
Signature tab, tab a couple times until you hear, " signature list , list
view ," then arrow up & down this list to select which signature you want
to

use for the email address of choice & press enter on okay. Then, when you
want to change your signature you do the above steps again. Now, let me
preface this by saying, this is how I assume changing signatures works,
because I haven't actually done it. Hope this gives you , at the least
anyway , a shove in the right direction. Take care.

 hi
that sounds quite good as i only use the other one now and again.

the normal one which is my first name is used on all correspondence i
send

but the second one will only be used on one group posting.

and as it is a buy and sell group i don't post that often certainly not
as
much as i post to all the other groups and friends.
so 2 signatures would be good provided the second one does not appear
automatically on the one i use for normal correspondence..

and how do i use the other signature once i type the advert out?
 thank you

[Blind-Computing] Memo to Membership

2010-12-28 Thread Moderator
Recently, some members have felt the need to chastise others for the way
they present their questions.

This will come to a stop!
If you don't like what someone has to say, or how they say it, then contact
them off-list.
If someone hasn't given enough information, then simply ask them to provide
more, and then move on.

If you feel the need to berate someone, then unsubscribe, or we'll help you.
This list is for learning and helping each other, and opinions are welcome
as long as they are relative to the topic being discussed, not personal
dislikes of others.
I started this list in 2007 and gave it to Dave with the express purpose of
having a forum for discussing computers only, and to avoid the crap that can
easily be found on other lists.
I, along with Dave and Bob, have better things to do with our time than
babysitting those who are supposed to be adults
and I for one am tired of seeing this bickering that has been going on for
the past few days.
We don't get paid for this, and haven't asked to be, we do it because we
feel it's worth while.

So, here's how it's going to work from this point forward.
The guidelines are posted to the list every month on the first, don't ignore
the message, read them, understand them and act accordingly.
There are people of all ages and walks of life on this list, and they all
deserve respect as human beings, and will not be ill-treated on this list.
People who don't fully understand the guidelines, should contact the
management team before posting to the list.
Ignorance of the guidelines is a poor excuse for any action contrary to the
guidelines, they are readily available to everyone.
For those that have been on the list for some time, I am not going to send
reminders to the list for disregarding the guidelines, I will simply remove
them from the list.
Now, for those of you who feel the need to argue, make sure I receive those
comments off-list, and be assured they will be shared with the rest of the
management team.
Any and all comments pertaining to this post are to be sent off-list, and
the ones that aren't

well, those individuals will be promptly removed.
This is not a threat of any kind, this is just the way it's going to be from
here on out.

Again, if you have any questions, my address is on every message
I am not here to make friends, I am here to help make sure that the list
runs as smoothly as possible.

For thos of you who didn't know who I am, now you do!
Now, let's get back to what we are supposed to be here for.

Radio? Sure! Over Ten Thousand Stations
Document Source: Fred's Head from
www.aph.org
It's no secret that I love internet radio and streaming music over the
web.
I am still amazed that you can click a button and hear radio stations
from

the
other side of the world.
I've found another Windows only application that is screen
reader-friendly

and will tune into more than twelve thousand stations! If you can't find
something
to listen to, you're probably not looking hard enough. The following
directions from the AccessContent Blog will have you listening in
minutes!

http://blog.accesscontent.ca/archive/2010/10/20/online-radio-revisited.aspx
Launching Radio Sure:
If you've been successful with the install, the program should launch
automatically afterwards. An online radio station should start playing.
First thing
to do is stop the music and configure a few things. TAB through the
screen

until you hear play Button. Press the SPACEBAR and the stream will stop.
TAB to options and press the SPACEBAR to activate the option pages.
General Tab:
Remember, you can move between the tab pages by pressing CONTROL+TAB.
A few things you might consider modifying in the general tab.
. Whether you want the program to start with windows. Don't see the
advantage of this, as I'd rather control when it's playing.
. Whether you want a stream to start playing when you launch the program.
. And my favourite, Global hotkeys. I would urge you to enable this, as
it

then gives you the option of controlling RadioSure from anywhere. See
"Global
Hotkey List" at the bottom of this entry.
. Minimize the program to the system tray is handy, as it takes it out of
the way. You can summon it back to the foreground with one of the global
hotkeys
listed below.
We will skip the Skins tab, as it makes no difference to screen readers.
Recording Tab:
Yes, you can record the streams with this program. One thing you might
consider changing on this tab:
. The recording folder. The default is to put it within a folder called
music under the RadioSure program. You can point this folder to any
folder

of your
choice with the unlabelled "browse" button. You can look around the other
options on this tab at your leisure.
The Advanced Tab:
. You can choose your preferred audio device. Leave this one alone,
unless

you are having audio issues, or prefer to use a specific device.
. I'd suggest checking the Always show station in the window title, so
you

can easily hear the station name by pressing INSERT+T withmost screen
readers.
. I'd uncheck Show pictures related to songs, but that's just personal
preference.
Press SPACEBAR on the "OK" button and the setup is complete.
Yay! Let's start listening and finding radio stations.
The Main Window:
The first area on the program window is the list of all stations; over
12000
from across the globe. No non-terrestrial station as of yet, but who
knows.

Navigate this list with the UP and DOWN ARROWS. PRESS ENTER to start
playing.
Volume Control:
TABBING brings you to the volume control. It's independent from the
system
volume, which means it will not interfere with the screen reader levels.
Use
Page up/Page DOWN for 20 percent increments. Use LEFT and RIGHT ARROWS
for 5

percent increments. And finally, use UP and DOWN ARROWS for 3 percent
increments.
Searches:
Another press of the TAB will bring you to the search area. Simply type a
station name, a genre or even radio call letters and the station list
will

be
populated with the results. No need to even press ENTER when done. Press
SHIFT+TAB twice to get back to the modified listing. To get back to the
full

list
of stations, erase the search term.
Those are the main features of Radio Sure and should give you a good base
to

get started. All in all, a nifty little program if you like listening to
online
radio, but are too lazy to go surfing the web to find them all.
As promised, here are the global hotkeys. They make using the program
even

sweeter.
. (Shift + Alt + H) toggle hide/show Radio Sure
. (Shift + Alt + Number pad Plus) volume down
. (Shift + Alt + Number pad Minus) volume up
. (Shift + Alt + M) Mute
. (Shift + Alt + P) toggle Play/Stop
. (Shift + Alt + S) Stop
. (Shift + Alt + B) Back
. (Shift + Alt + N) Next
. (Shift + Alt + R) start/stop Recording.

You can use the following link to retrieve the executable file:

[Blind-Computing] List Guidelines Reminder

2010-11-30 Thread Moderator

Because many in the US may conclude you have earned a 4-year degree, they
might be misled into believing you possess more knowledge than the
certificate you earned stipulates. Please watch what your words convey
Chris. That is if you're not intentionally trying to mislead people into
believing you possess more technical knowledge than you actually do. It is
unethical to do this; especially with the population on these lists. You
actually possess a degree meant to be completed in 1 or 2 years, but you
stated below it took you 4 years. Is this correct?

This is all we have on this.
Microsoft Security Essentials is fake. Well, it is and it isn't. Microsoft
Security
Essentials is a free antimalware protection program from Microsoft, but a
identified
by security software vendor F-Secure is also masquerading as Microsoft
Security Essentials.
You want to avoid that one.
The is distributed through a drive-by download as either hotfix.exe or
mstsc.exe--both
reasonably benign and almost legitimate sounding file names that might not
raise
red flags with some users.
--including all of the top names that users are familiar with such as Trend
Micro,
McAfee, Panda, and Symantec-- and identifies those that are capable of
detecting
and blocking this nefarious threat.
The F-Secure blog explains, "Surprisingly, the only products that seem to be
capable
of handling the infection are AntiSpySafeguard, Major Defense Kit, Peak
Protection,
Pest Detector and Red Cross. Never heard of these? No wonder. They are all
fake products."
The attackers are counting on users being naïve enough to take the bait and
agree
to be "saved" by purchasing one of these awesome antimalware tools to help
eradicate
the threat. But, since these are all rogue antivirus programs what you
really end
up with is some sort of Trojan that opens the system up to further .
Don't get confused, though. As mentioned above, is a legitimate antimalware
application
as well. It is offered for free by Microsoft, and is in fact a very capable
defense
against malware. Microsoft just recently expanded the availability of
Microsoft Security
Essentials to --making it free to install on up to ten PCs.
I must say, though, that I have never understood how anyone falls for rogue
antivirus
attacks. It seems to me that users should know whether or not they have some
sort
of malware protection installed, and if so which software it is. If no
antimalware
is installed, or if the fake alert is apparently from a program other than
the one
that is installed--why would anyone take it seriously?
Did magic antimalware fairies stop by in the night and install this new
beneficent
tool? And, doesn't it seem at all suspicious that this strange antimalware
detection
is capable of scanning the PC and identifying this new threat, but invites
you to
purchase something else to actually deal with the problem?
F-Secure detects this new rogue Microsoft Security Essentials threat as
Trojan.Generic.KDV.47643.

UndeliveredPackage Notices

Some malware attacks are exceedingly clever and innovative, while others
just rely
on tried and true techniques that are fairly reliable no matter how much
users are
told to avoid them. AppRiver is reporting a new threat that falls into
this latter
category--a fake DHL shipping receipt designed with a malicious file
attachment.
DHL is not as recognizable in the United States as FedEx, or UPS, or
plain old US
Post Office shipping, but it is still an easily identified brand. On a
global scale,
DHL is better known, and there is a fair chance--although not
significantly high--that
any random e-mail recipient may have either shipped something with DHL,
or may be
expecting a shipment from DHL, and those are the users that are most
likely to fall

victim to this ploy.
the message translates roughly to, "Due to an error in the shipping
direction, we
were unable to deliver your package. It can be picked up at the post
office, but

first you must print the postal label attached to this email."
Clicking on the file attachment results in opening a compressed folder.
The victim
then must open the folder and execute the malicious file it contains in
order for
the attack to work. Sounds convoluted, but you'd be surprised how
effective it can
be. Years of malware scams have proven that there are more than enough
gullible users
on the Internet--gullible users who speak Spanish and are expecting a DHL
shipment.
With the recent focus on the , the , and the , it's easy to forget that
rudimentary
attacks like this work just fine as well. are another effective method of
propagating

malware that are being used effectively in recent malware attacks.
Let's recap the common sense approach to avoiding malware attacks like
this fake
DHL shipping notification. A) If you don't speak Spanish, just delete it.
B) If you
do speak Spanish, but you aren't expecting a DHL shipment, just delete
it. C) If
you speak Spanish, and you're expecting a DHL shipment, think for a
second about
the poorly written message and whether or not DHL would actually send
such a thing.
D) Remind yourself that no reputable company will send you an email with
a file attachment

like this.
Bottom line--delete the e-mail. If you speak Spanish and you're expecting
a DHL shipment
and you honestly feel it could be legitimate, delete the e-mail, then
visit the DHL

Web site or give it a call and check on the status of your package.

I often check the Giveaway of the Day web site, and today for less than

24 hours, about 16 hours or so left, you can get this program to use.
It's also available in a general version for free at their web site, on
an on-going basis. What I do not know is how useful it might or might
not be for those of us using speech for access. It will probably take a
more experienced user of windows 7 or windows xp to give this a fair
trial work-out.

If anyone does decide to give it a try please let us know if it proves
to be useful to you. And possibly for most of us, or possibly not.
Thanks in advance for any reactions to it.

Giveaway of the Day - Start Menu 7 Pro 3.8

Start Menu 7 is the best software to replace the standard Windows Start
Menu ever made. Before creating Start Menu 7 program, I've spent a lot
of time to understand how a human brain works with visual information.
That's why Start Menu 7 is so easy and natural to use for everybody.

sb The list of menu items is alphabetically sorted, so you can easily
find any program or command by its name.
sb Open any location on your PC with a single click.
You can create, modify, and reorder items in Start Menu 7. So it's easy
to create a list of the most used locations, popular directories, and
virtual folders to access them with a single click.
sb There is a special Run button to access seldom used locations
   without adding them into menu.
sb Start Menu 7 has a customizable Power Buttons panel.
sb With Power Timer feature you can delay any of power management
   operations.
For a few bucks you'll get even more
sb Launch programs with a single click. Yes, it's true! Any program in
   a one click distance.
sb Tabbed menu helps to place more stuff in the same display size. Any
folder or drive can be managed as a separate tab.

Go ahead and try replacing your Start menu right now! It is safe

[Blind-Computing] List guidelines Reminder

2010-10-07 Thread Moderator

It appears that some folks are not familiar with the guidelines,
even though I just posted them 6 days ago.
So, for your convenience and required reading, here they are again.
Please read them carefully, repeat offenders will be removed from the list
without further notice.

Hello everyone,

I've seen discussions on cell phones that are accessible to the blind on
here before; but never really paid attention to the thread. I thought my
little "old" cell phone was good enough for me. It never dawned on me
that I might someday lose my phone and need a new one. Well, it's
happened. I lost it and am just lost without a cell phone. I'm
desperate. Since I need to get a phone, I figured I might as well take
the plunge and jump on into modern times and get a phone that is more
accessible then what I had.

Can anyone tell me a really good phone that has screen reading
capability (like JAWS), and is fairly easy to use. I am with A T and T.
I think I remember seeing once on here something about software called
"Talks". Is that like JAWS. I don't know at all what will work. I'd like
to be able to go ahead and use the internet on it, maybe text and all
the stuff that you young kids do here in the United States.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Ken

If you are with a tnt try to contact their special needs section. They
have accessible phones set aside for blind users. I have not talked to
