Arrow until you hear, graphic options sub-menu, right arrow to open. 3. Up-arrow until you hear, "hotkes Sub-menu", right arrow to open. 4. Down-arrow until you hear disable, press enter. Note, make sure you have rotated your screen back to original position before you disable the hotkeys. Another way I can do this is, Using windows 7, Go to desktop, Press ctrl+spacebar to unselect item, Press applications key, Up arrow until you hear; Graphics options sub menu, Right arrow to open, down arrow until you hear; Hotkeys sub menu, Right arrow to open, arrow and enter on, disable. Now, if you press alt+ctrl+right or left, etc, your screen will stay in the right position. Over Ten Thousand Stations Radio? Sure! Over Ten Thousand Stations Document Source: Fred's Head from www.aph.org It's no secret that I love internet radio and streaming music over the web. I am still amazed that you can click a button and hear radio stations from the other side of the world. I've found another Windows only application that is screen reader-friendly and will tune into more than twelve thousand stations! If you can't find something to listen to, you're probably not looking hard enough. The following directions from the AccessContent Blog will have you listening in minutes! http://blog.accesscontent.ca/archive/2010/10/20/online-radio-revisited.aspx Launching Radio Sure: If you've been successful with the install, the program should launch automatically afterwards. An online radio station should start playing. First thing to do is stop the music and configure a few things. TAB through the screen until you hear play Button. Press the SPACEBAR and the stream will stop. TAB to options and press the SPACEBAR to activate the option pages. General Tab: Remember, you can move between the tab pages by pressing CONTROL+TAB. A few things you might consider modifying in the general tab. . Whether you want the program to start with windows. Don't see the advantage of this, as I'd rather control when it's playing. . Whether you want a stream to start playing when you launch the program. . And my favourite, Global hotkeys. I would urge you to enable this, as it then gives you the option of controlling RadioSure from anywhere. See "Global Hotkey List" at the bottom of this entry. . Minimize the program to the system tray is handy, as it takes it out of the way. You can summon it back to the foreground with one of the global hotkeys listed below. We will skip the Skins tab, as it makes no difference to screen readers. Recording Tab: Yes, you can record the streams with this program. One thing you might consider changing on this tab: . The recording folder. The default is to put it within a folder called music under the RadioSure program. You can point this folder to any folder of your choice with the unlabelled "browse" button. You can look around the other options on this tab at your leisure. The Advanced Tab: . You can choose your preferred audio device. Leave this one alone, unless you are having audio issues, or prefer to use a specific device. . I'd suggest checking the Always show station in the window title, so you can easily hear the station name by pressing INSERT+T withmost screen readers. . I'd uncheck Show pictures related to songs, but that's just personal preference. Press SPACEBAR on the "OK" button and the setup is complete. Yay! Let's start listening and finding radio stations. The Main Window: The first area on the program window is the list of all stations; over 12000 from across the globe. No non-terrestrial station as of yet, but who knows. Navigate this list with the UP and DOWN ARROWS. PRESS ENTER to start playing. Volume Control: TABBING brings you to the volume control. It's independent from the system volume, which means it will not interfere with the screen reader levels. Use Page up/Page DOWN for 20 percent increments. Use LEFT and RIGHT ARROWS for 5 percent increments. And finally, use UP and DOWN ARROWS for 3 percent increments. Searches: Another press of the TAB will bring you to the search area. Simply type a station name, a genre or even radio call letters and the station list will be populated with the results. No need to even press ENTER when done. Press SHIFT+TAB twice to get back to the modified listing. To get back to the full list of stations, erase the search term. Those are the main features of Radio Sure and should give you a good base to get started. All in all, a nifty little program if you like listening to online radio, but are too lazy to go surfing the web to find them all. As promised, here are the global hotkeys. They make using the program even sweeter. . (Shift + Alt + H) toggle hide/show Radio Sure . (Shift + Alt + Number pad Plus) volume down . (Shift + Alt + Number pad Minus) volume up . (Shift + Alt + M) Mute . (Shift + Alt + P) toggle Play/Stop . (Shift + Alt + S) Stop . (Shift + Alt + B) Back

A couple of us who monitor these lists have been receiving private messages from people complaining about the way things have been handled. Personally my opinion is that it was handled quite well. A young man made what he felt was an innocent comment and he got a lot of flack for it from many of the members on here, again myself included. We left the thread go for a couple of days just to lighten the mood on here but yesterday I decided it was time to shut it down and get back to the purpose of what this list is all about. Now I am getting private messages that the guys are getting complaints that things were heading in a racial or ethnic direction. This I can state for a fact is not, never has been, or never will be an issue on any list I have a hand in monitoring. I can't control private messages any of you might send to each other but so far as what comes over this forum that's another story. I do this because I feel it is something that needs to be done. People in my opinion need a safe place where they can ask for help without fear of being insulted or criticized for not knowing a particular fact of computing. I started JAWS Users with Bob almost five years ago and Rick joined us about six months later, together the three of us have weathered some pretty big storms again just because we all feel it is something that simply needs to be done. The only thing we get out of it is the satisfaction that we are doing something that is helping out a lot of people or at least we'd like to think so. Honestly there are days when I think that playing electronic golf or enjoying the out side world listening to my Victor Reader seem pretty enticing. Some day we may shut it down although we are not planning on it at the present time. I need Rick and Bob to help me run these lists and if they get tired of doing it I'm not doing them alone, they are just too big. So no more private messages to either of them. The first one of these is called Belvedere. It is used to organise your files into folders. Or let me say it is used to create rules in your documents just as you do with message rules. You can create as many rules on one folder or have many folders on a single rule. For example, you can schedule to clean your downlload folder after every five days, or even to have that download folder stripped off its files soon after any download completion. You can also decide to arrange files into subfolders in your My Documents folder in a way based on their extensions. This helps you organise your content when preparing assignments, examinations -- the list is endless. Well, the other one is called System Protect. This one can even run on 64-bit systems. It is to protect your sensitive documents from accidental deletions or whatever. You just add your precious documents (as files or folders) and when you try to delete them, the program will not allow this. This runs as a service and you can only delete your protected files after you turn off the service or else manually remove the protected files from settings. I think it is helpful in situations whereby some malware may choose to modify your applications without your knowledge. That's enough ranting for now: Now the problem is I no longer know where I got these utilities, so if you're interested in these, contact me off list or else any of the list moderators (Rick or David) who can just place them on the Blind Computing/JawsUsers Programs list. On my setup I have set it so the voice it comes with speaks the time every 15 minutes. I am thinking of buying the program myself as it's only £8 in UK currency. So quite cheap for a program that comes with an awesome voice and awesome sounds. You can also download other voices, and even create your own! I hope it will work for you. If you haven't got the message I sent this very morning, here is a copy of it below! Good luck! Hi all, As promised, here is a program that is a great alternative for RealPlayer. It is pretty accessible and can play too many formats. The program is called K-Lite Mega Codec I just wanted to add something that i forgot to mention in my previous E-mail. When you launche the program, some versions of jaws will start chattering nonstop. That's because Jaws captures the slider that shows the time and starts reading it. You just need to modify jaws behavior by setting the screen echo to none in stead of highlighted for this particular application. The link will be available only for 5 days, I then can resend it if any one needs it: Click here to download K-Lite mega codec! <http://files.123envoi.com/get_1405.php?cen=37-43384-90be877&cfr=66958-e25d> Follows some useful keystrokes: SpaceBar = Play/pause Period = stop Control+Right arrow = Forward 5 seconds Control+Left arrow = rewind 5 seconds Up Arrow = increase volume Down arrow = decrease volume Control+m = mute Control+Q = quick open Control+O = open Control+D = open DVD Control+C = close open file or files Control+5 = toggles the status bar JawsKey+PageDown = read status bar, "it contains info about the file's duration, the elapsed time and the active control". O = program options Good luck! Hamid AITOUZNAG "We never value what we have until we lose it!". This is so tragic. I hope you don't do the same with your laptop or netbook. You may have heard that a good friend of ours in Mequon lost their 25 year old son (Arun Gopal Ratnam) in a fire at home June 4th. This is what happened. He graduated with MBA from University of Wisconsin-Madison two weeks earlier and came home. Had a lunch with his dad at home and decided to go back to to clean up his room at school. Father told him to wait and see his mother before he goes back for a few days. He decided to take a snooze while waiting for his mom to come home from work. Neighbors called 911 when they saw black smoke coming out of the house. Their 25 year old son Arun died in the three year old house. It took several days of investigation to find out the cause of the fire. It was determined that the fire was caused by a lap top in the bed. When the lap top is on the bed the cooling fan does not get air to cool the computer and that is what caused the fire. He did not even wake up to get out of the bed he: died of carbon monoxide. The reason I am writing this to all of you is that I have seen all of us using our lap top in bed. Let us all decide and make it a practice not to do that. Risk is real. Let us make it a rule not to use lap top in bed or put computer on bed with blankets and pillows around. -- Signed by Chris Hallsworth E-mail and Facebook: christopher...@googlemail.com MSN: ch9...@hotmail.com Skype: chrishallsworth7266 Twitter: http://twitter.com/christopherh40 For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
